Food was delicious, but service was slow.

We took my mum here for here birthday meal last week. The menu is fantastic, plenty of dishes to choose from and there is something for everyone. Staff were very attentive, happy to check whether drinks were vegan or not. A really great level of service. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, absolutely no complaints. A brilliant evening and thank you to the excellent staff for helping us with the somewhat heavy birthday cake. We will definitely be coming back again.

Food is incredible! Amazing quality and taste. I had duck breast and it's one of the best dishes I've had. All the flavours worked so well together. The hearty sticky toffee was top notch as well with plenty of sauce! Definitely be back ☺️

Food was served promptly and presented very well. The staff were excellent and attentive. Our group had 3 different dishes and all were delicious and the plates were virtually licked clean.

Came here for breakfast, I had American pancakes served with berries and cream. This was amazing, I can't actually describe how beautiful this was. It was well presented and well portioned. I would highly recommend a visit, and I will definitely be coming back to try more from the menu! The staff were polite and helpful too.

I've been twice in the last few months with friends for dinner and it's been great both times, the food has been excellent! A varied menu, and good quality. Last night I had the gnocchi, (a vegan dish although I don't follow a vegan diet specifically) and it was delicious! A big portion, I've had the rest for my lunch today.

We booked a table to have lunch with my parents who used to live in Coltishall. The food was absolutely superb. We had the set lunch menu, and the quality of the dishes as well as the presentation was fantastic, it was cooked to perfection and tasted divine. You could see that time, care and precision was taken with each meal. The waiting staff were so friendly and warm. Definitely a place to visit. The rest of the a la carte menu sounded just as delicious.

Absolutely amazing lunch here today. Prawn cocktails were beautifully presented and tasted equally good. Tomato soup was delicious and beautifully presented. All had the Poached Smoked Haddock and there aren't the words to describe just how great this meal looked and tasted. All members of staff were friendly and polite. We really enjoyed our lunch and will definitely be returning.

Couldn't fault the service, food, the pork cassoulet was amazing, as was the cod, and we all loved the desserts. Well set out restaurant , plenty of outside dining space too, in a lovely riverside setting . We all live nearby, so will definitely be visiting again

We stopped in here without a reservation on a Saturday night at 6pm. We were greeted with a smile and promptly seated. We were expecting a simple pub grub menu but it is more restaurant quality. Not a cheap meal but well worth the money. Great food. Large fish and veggie/ vegan selection. Large wine selection. Decent beers. Dogs welcome.

Me and my partner popped down for a quick drink and didn’t intend to eat but after seeing the roasts we thought we would give it a go! What can I say the roast did not disappoint! The vegetables the gravy the meat were all sublime! One of the best roasts I’ve had in years! The staff were so friendly and attentive I cannot fault anything about our visit! We will definitely be back!

I don't usually write reviews as I'm a bit of a Meldrew. But I've just had an impromptu Sunday lunch here. All I can say is first class. A good plate full of food and all cooked to perfection. Good staff. Nice atmosphere. I'll be back.

Warm, cosy room with plentiful supplies for making tea, coffee, hot chocolate. Our room had a shared bathroom but we never saw anyone else using it. The breakfast which we ate in the pub was outstanding. Very good value for money

We were walking in the area and stopped in, primarily for a wee, but also sat outside and had tea and coffee. The breakfast smelt lovely so came back the next day after another walk for dinner food. Lovely welcome by the staff, dog friendly. Breakfast was really good! Awesome breakfast bap! Nice relaxed atmosphere, outside benches if you need them, just next to the river. Staff were great - warm, friendly - made sure our dog had a treat and some water (all unprompted - such a good sign of quality service). It's so gratifying when you find these places. Would happily return again.

Had our Christmas dinner here for the second year, it was amazing, we had a party of 12 and everyone enjoyed the experience, the food was lovely, the staff were brilliant and it was a great atmosphere, as locals we use the pub through the year and look forward to our next visit, big thank you to all the staff for making the day special

Just had two fantastic days at the Kings Head with excellent friendly staff with excellent ensuite bedroom with views over the car park and the river an extremely comfortable bed and with a great restaurant with an amazing menu for evening meals and breakfast a like with a wide choice of gluten-free options or can be adapted to suit and a roaring log fire just what you need on a cold wet November's day can highly recommend and cannot wait to go back😋😋💯

Went for a meal as it was recommended to us. Staff were very friendly, food was fabulous and its dog friendly. Will definitely be going again. Highly recommend it.

We've eaten here before but the last meal was dissapointing. We contacted the Kings Head and they were very apologetic and gave us a refund. Things go wrong for businesses but it's the customer service to correct the mishap which is critical. Full marks for the Kings Head for their customer service and we will of course eat there again. Just to say normally the food is very good.

Just had a family of 8 Easter Sunday lunch and we were all blown away by just how lovely every meal was. The setting by the river is gorgeous too. There was so much lamb and beef on our plates we had to take some home... food was all freshly cooked and the cauliflower cheese was sublime. Deserts we're enormous and the sticky toffee pudding with ginger snap was a lovely end to a fantastic meal. Service was wonderful too, so thank you all so much. We will definitely visit again.

Booked Sunday lunch. Great staff - friendly with a can do attitude. We had a roast and the liver and bacon. Both really good. Will return as its a lovely spot by the river and nice walks nearby.

Lovely pub with great selection of beer on tap. Great food and good options. Staff are brilliant really friendly and polite. They were so welcoming to me my wife my dog and new born child. Location is amazing 10/10 would recommend on.

We had a fantastic meal at lunchtime. The burgers are extra special. We had the pulled pork extra on top. Best burger I have had for years. Really friendly staff also.

S

Quick service, delicious food & very welcoming staff. We booked a table for 9 of us before a long walk and were all super hungry when we got back. Luckily the service was very quick and the food was to an amazing standard. Would highly recommend the burger or the fish & chips (which was HUGE!) and all staff served with a smile on their face. Will definitely return.

Popped in for breakfast. Which was the banana pancakes and the scrambled egg with salmon on sourdough. The salmon was thick cut and strongly smoked, which worked well with the scrambled eggs. The pancakes were also delicious. We had a couple of coffees which were very flavourful to wash it down. The pricing was reasonable for the quality of the food and the service was polite and efficient. The pub/restaurant part looked clean and fresh. Can't comment on the rooms as we didn't stay.

Absolutely first class service and a breakfast to die for. There are other places I could go but with quality like this, there is no reason to.

We went here as a group of 6 for Sunday dinner, and the service and food was absolutely amazing. We had a couple of Vegans in our group as well as someone with several severe food allergies, and they were so accommodating and friendly and were able to provide several suitable options. On top of handling the allergy and dietary requirements, the pork roast I had was amazing - genuinely think it might be the best roast I've ever had. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Stayed recently in April 2024 and had the best stay! The room was wonderful, ensuite and everything you would need. Ideal to have the bar/food downstairs and the food was outstanding. The breakfast in the morning was outstanding, sun shining through and right next to the broads.....I would stay back in a heartbeat!!!

We popped in for lunch today without a booking and received a very warm welcome. The pub was very cosy and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Sitting in the bar area with our 2 dogs, who were also made to feel very welcome (gravy bones provided). The food was delicious and the atmosphere perfect. Lovely walks nearby. We will be back no doubt

My wife and I came for an evening meal, and loved the pub! Food was outstanding; with a special shout out for the double cooked cheese soufflé and the scallops - both starters were out of this world!! The staff were lovely and we had a fantastic night. Thanks Kings Head team

I pre booked a table and when we arrived the lady was very pleasant and welcoming, we ordered drinks and were taken to our table. The pub was very cosy and warm. We ordered food and it arrived not long after, the food was presented lovely and the portions were large, the battered haddock hung of the plate, the mushroom risotto was very tasty and I had perfect poached egg perched on top of 2 thick pieces of smoked haddock. Atmosphere and service was perfect, thank you

Had a meal at The King's Head whilst on holiday in the area with my family. Good choice of meals and there was something for everyone. I was particularly impressed with the amount of gluten free options available. Had the battered fish and chips which was the best I've ever tasted. Even the pot of curry sauce it came with was made gf. Very friendly service too and the pub has been refurbished beautifully.

Came here with my assistance dog after a lovely walk along the river. Had previously been a few years ago, however knew it was recently taken over so wanted to see what it was like. The food and service were amazing. Had the burger for main course and it tasted beautiful. Great service, great food,

2nd stay at the King's Head, can't fault the rooms, and was really well looked after, the evening dinners were also fabulous,,

Went for a Sunday lunch family meet up. Great service and catered for my wife's food allergy. Sunday roast beef was fantastic, lots of food. Not a pretentious or stuffy place, very welcoming. Car park gets busy real quick.

Lovely village pub in the Norfolk Broads. Staff were very accommodating of our large groups needs and the food was cooked and presented to a really good standard.

D
David Honor

Not our favourite time here yesterday 24/8. The gravy was a bit thin. My beef was actually plentiful but a little tough to cut. Roasties were a little small. Wife's Chicken portion was a lot smaller than normal. Waitress forgot to ask if we wanted horseradish and our table was a little small. Not a bad roast but certainly not the best we've had here as normally it's amazing!

S
Sadie Cuming

My review refers only to the restaurant where we went for Easter Sunday lunch. A huge quantity of food and we were attended to well during an extremely busy time. Great location in Coltishlall. A full English style roast dinner with accompanying sauces … certainly very filling and delicious. A different sort of experience but worth a visit for this style of dining if you’re in the area.

Attractive pub, can’t comment on Hotel. The staff were welcoming and efficient and the pub had a nice feel. Plenty of seating, shared car park which was a bit manic and challenging for pedestrians. Can’t comment on food but it was well presented. Ale choice was uninspiring and didn’t warrant a second.

Sorry to be negative as there are so many good things, excellent staff and service, food good albeit a bit pricey. redecorated since last visit and refurbished gents' toilet excellent as thought I was in a different pub to the previous visit. However our evening and meal was spoilt by the excessive noise from a large group 10/12 with several dogs (2 huge dogs) from the bar. So loud we could not hear each other talk. To be fair the senior waitress moved us further away after our starters but still too noisy so it ruined the evening for us 8 and the other people eating in the bar section who were also visibly hacked off. My observation to the new owners is you have to choose whether to be a pub or restaurant as it is not big enough to be both. As a customer I recommend you should choose the restaurant to eat. Sad thing is that we won't go again as there are so many excellent places to eat in this area.

Lovely pub, can't comment on the rooms. Lovely food and service. The parking was a nightmare though. No actual bays and apparently shared with another pub. Ended up parking quite a distance away on the road which wasn't great for my children or elderly father.

J

Had lunch at this pub because the riverside one was packed. The menu was really nice, the service was excellent. Very nice and peaceful atmosphere and much easier to park the car. Friendly establishment, would recommend.

Group meal. Those who had the roast loved it. However, the fish was heavy with soft batter and the chips dry. The tartar was great as was the beer. The staff are the stand out feature, they were excellent.

C
Chris Morton

Food is of great quality fresh and very tastie great comfortable atmosphere friendly staff very expensive menu and very limited in general my only dispointment is the portion size for the price is ridiculous small on a general note maybe return just for the quality if am in area but not somewhere I would visit daily

d

The best sausage and mash I’ve had, served by lovely girls with great sense of humor! Great atmosphere … look forward to trying other things on menu! I’ve revised my review! As was charged £6.85 for shandy that was on bill as peroni ? Ask girl was just told it’s same price! Prices of food is unreal! Seeing as just moved to the area I think this place is now off the list! Shame because was nice sausage and mash!

A

Really poor service for Sunday morning breakfast and never got to try the food. Pity because we were looking forward to it. Management need to sort their staffing problems.

J
Joy Lofts

Took my Grandson for lunch his starter arrived quickly but waiting for our main was a different matter people who came in after us had their food and left we were still waiting l had to ask twice what was happening to our food when it finally arrived it was barely warm we ate what we could and left we were so fed up by then vowing to never return, what made it so disappointing was the fact in the past we have had many enjoyable meals there.
