It was my first time. Went with my wife, mother in-law and brother in-law. Our server was amazing and very helpful suggesting food and drinks. Everything was delicious. Will definitely recommend and return!

I have been going to Finnegan's for the past 10 years and I have rarely been disappointed. The food, service, and atmosphere are consistently good. I've tried everything on the menu and the Fish and Chips are my favorite, but you really can't go wrong. My wife usually orders the flank steak. My son loves the calamari. They have great burgers and sandwiches. And the daily specials bring more variety (and occasionally become new menu items). But it's more than just good food. It is also a lively bar with several tvs showing sports and offering a variety of live entertainment offerings (music, trivia, and bingo to name a few). Finnegan's is one of the best restaurants/bars in Novato.

We love Finnegan's. Adam is the best bartender in town, and the food is always delicious. We like to sit outside when the street is closed and let the kids scoot around while we have a Guinness.

Festive and busy like most Friday nights. Great food. Wish they had decent cider on tap, but at least I could get a bottle of Magners. Great chicken sandwich. Delightful Cobb salad.

Service was good , servers were friendly, food was good, beer was good.(beer is always good 😀) We got there at about 7 o'clock on a Friday night and the place was packed. People were waiting outside. However it did not take more than 5 to 7 minutes to be seated. There were just 2 of us so it was a little easier to accommodate us than it would be for larger group but they seem to be very good at rotating tables.

First time not having entire family for Easter. Ordered a 1/2 dinner order for 2 people. Very organized when I picked it up and it was delicious! Kudos to Henry and his staff. Thank you for all your hard work. We look forward to when we can enjoy a dinner in the restaurant again.

For a Sunday night, place got busy for dinner. Good low key vibe, a few TVs and friendly staff. Our meals were great. I had the New York 12oz steak and mash potatoes. Exalent. Girlfriend had the fish and chips and said it was the best she ever had.

Can't say enough great things about Finnegan's. The food is great, the service is awesome, and it's got a great atmosphere! Got chicken wings that were perfect. Also the Rueben eggroll is such a great idea. It's like a Rueben sandwich in an eggroll! Got there on a Thursday afternoon just as happy hour was starting and it was slow but by the time 5 rolled around it was really lively and people were coming in. So great to see families, regulars, couples, and all walks of life coming in and hanging out. Definitely going back!

I've been coming here for years. However, I haven't been in awhile. Menu is totally different and one of my favorite menu items is gone. That being said, the Reuben and pot roast were on point. I ordered a martini dirty, I am usually disappointed these days with this order but it was perfect! Hanna our server was great!

The best vegetarian burger in Marin...with TERRIFIC TERRIFIC TERRIFIC FRENCH FRIES. SPECIAL waitress there too. Great customer service. Though I'm not a bar scene girl...it looks like a happening place for folks to gather.... great sports TV. Very comfortable place. Casual. The food is great!

For a Wednesday evening the place was busy and jubilant. Even so Matt met us at the door immediately and sat us at a booth. He recommended the Po' Boy fish sandwich. Vanessa our server confirmed that it was really good and I ordered that. My wife got a Ceasar's Salad and we split an order of fried calamari. Everything from the house made croutons to the fennel strips in the Calamari to the fore thought of sweet potato fries instead of traditional chips with my Po' Boy showed care and creativity in our meal. Wow, just wow. We live 2 counties north of here, but I will be making excuses to stop there again!

Great food, service and live music. I had medium rare Goff burger that came with jalapeno poppers. The burger was cooked perfectly and everyone loved the poppers. They also sell bottles of pliney the elder, which is awesome.

I came here for Brunch...pleasant outdoor seating area and delicious brunch fare. Mimosas are strong.

This is legit one of my absolute favorite places to eat in Northern California. The food is phenomenal! The servers are super hospitable! And the atmosphere oh the atmosphere is stellar! Please please please try the ribs. It comes as a half rack but it used to come as a full rack back in the day but the chef if asked will make a special exception for you and make you a full rack without having to pay double. More like one and a half the cost. 😉

We wanted to raise a glass to a recently departed family member and the spouse of the person really wanted to be on the deck at Finnegans. 13 people at 3PM on a weekday but it was last minute so we tried. The deck was full so the server seated us inside but then returned to tell us that they would not be seating people outside until we had enough space for our impromptu event. I don't remember her name but I do know that she helped smooth out a very rough day and we're indebted to her and to Finnegan's. Thank you!

The staff was super friendly and helpful. The corned beef sliders were excellent, some of the best corned beef I've had in a long time. The waffle fries were crispy and crunchy.

Finnegan’s is *the* bar for good drinks (and good food!) in downtown Novato. And now they have a wonderful outdoor patio! I’ve already spent many lunches and late nights out there. It’s especially nice when they have live music outside. I love going here and love bringing my friends here. It’s always a good time.

I had the corned beef and eggs for dinner and it was very good. The corned beef was cubed, a nice difference than usual corned beef hash. We got a mix of waffle fries, kids chicken and vegetables, and kids pasta. The waffle fries are probably the best I've had or very close to the best. My wife didn't care for the smoked cauliflower, she said it tasted like it was artificially seasoned but I liked it. It'd be nice if they had more local beers on tap and a better variety but overall a good selection.

What a great evening. SO many things on the menu I want to try. Good parking, comfortable, great prices, waitress and service staff. Can't wait to go back!

I give this place a 5 star rating because the autmosphere is great! The food is pretty good too. It is always lively and many nights there is music playing. Great indoor and outdoor seating. Also they are wonderful community supporters. The Goff Burger is great.

The food is terrific. The Guinness was very nice. Greeted by the owner who was welcoming. Had a Reuben Sandwich which was delicious with fantastic corned beef and not over powering sauerkraut. It came with fries. I asked that the fries be well done. They were perfect.... crunchy, hot and not burnt.

Absolutely a great neighborhood bar & restaurant. I was working in this area for 2 weeks & ran across this “pub”!! So good, friendly, fun…. The fish & chips were delicious and don’t miss out on their Sticky Pudding!!! Yum!!! 🤗

The experience was 5 stars. The 2 cocktails my friend had were also 5 stars. One cocktail.was made with a special type of Tequila, the other had rye, chocolate bitters & something else. The Rye cocktail was outstanding she said. The service was impeccable. The food was so, so. The fish & chips were too greasy. Yes, I know they're meant to be greasy. I'm all for the grease but not when it makes the dough soggy. It's too bad. Fries were good. Brussel sprouts were mushy & didn't taste great. The atmosphere is great. It worth going there. They might have a better deep fry cook the next time.

We met Henry out in SF who recommended he come and check out his bar in Novato, with a voucher for a pint (or small jalapeño poppers!). Finnegan’s was a fun and lively spot, with live music and great service - not to mention an excellent Guinness draft pour. Would recommend for anyone looking for a fun time!

Ok so me and my wife started a new thing where we travel and taste local foods. This place was great! The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was a nice vibe. The food on the other hand was 4 out of 5 for me and the only reason I said this is because the appetizer were really great but the main dishes needed a little something more. We had the Caesar salad, waffle fries and the poke. All of this was really fresh and delicious. We wnt for the fish and chips and the pot roast. The fish and chips were really good but the pot roast was a to tomatoey for me. All and all minus the pot roast I would give this place a 4.8.

Great experience with a large group outside. It was a soccer party for 10/11 year olds and I would get tired of serving us. The staff handled it great though and we're very attentive to our needs!

Food is good and great trivia night on Tuesdays but the service was incredibly slow, even for a busy night. We waited about 15 mins before even getting water and another 5 mins before a server actually acknowledged us. We arrived at 19:30 for the trivia at 20:00 and didn't get our food until round 3.

Decent fish n chips. The Ieish nachos were a bit greasy. I wouldn't call the fish n chips the best I've ever had, a bit more batter than fish. I'd order again, but I'd also try another place if around.

My third time here just picking up to go. The fettuccine chanterelles was fabulous. Pasta cooked perfectly and I don't know if it was fresh or dried but it was delicious. Other in-dining was a chicken dore which was nicely and generously prepared with big chunks of fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes. The chicken itself was tasteless and was saved by the butter caper sauce. Previously I had a flank steak which was tough but passable. Generous portions, friendly wait staff and bartenders. Consistently best Manhattan even from well and only $10. Finnegan's is a landmark social bar and grill which has a throng of patrons and sports screens everywhere. It's not a quiet place but a pub shouldn't be quiet. Lunch afternoon family place with parents and their out of control small children yet the manager and wait staff are gracious. Music at nights and definitely a friendly crowd. Kitchen open until 10pm which is rare in Novato. Reliable dining resource.

Went here with my family, atmosphere was nice and "bar-like" but not too loud. We had the irish nachos as a starter. It was crunchy waffle fries (good) topped with cheese (good), pulled pork (good) and bacon(chopped a tad too small which made them too crunchy and difficult to eat with a fork). As mains we had the big blue burger, beef stroganoff, the goff burger and fish n chips. All were great except for the fish n chips not being true british fisn n chips by the fish being 3 seperate pieces instead of one big fish filet and they looked like male genitalia. The servers were very kind, but some of the younger servers sometimes need some reminding to take empty plates. All in all a very good place that is worth a visit, would like to eat here again

Local haunt where everybody knows everybody. The food is good but the menu is tired. Only full bar downtown. Gets packed. Outside is nice, but tables are few. Occasional live band. It's okay.

Went on a Wednesday night it was so Much fun. They had Bingo for $1. We got to play a couple of games off of that $1. Pretty fun. Servers were very nice n so were the people there. Food was Delicious! Mash potatoes were my favorite so buttery and their seasoned vegetables were on point. The 10oz steak I got need more flavor n the sauce they provided wasn't really good. I added salt and pepper which made it taste alot better.

Went for brunch. Good food and service. Avocado toast was loaded with avocado and perfectly cooked poached eggs. Pancakes came with fresh fruit. A little light on maple syrup and could be served with butter but they were tasty. Recommended.

Tasty food and polite service. However, it seemed short handed, as managers were noted busting tables on the patio, and our food was brought out after long wait times and reminders. Shout out to Hannah and Anthony though, despite working hard, they provided "service with a smile" 👍🏽🙌🏾🤸🏾‍♀️

Solid. Beef stroganoff is great, as is the Mac n cheese. Only place that serves food in town as late as it does, and for that we are grateful. Would get four stars if dogs were allowed on the patio.

Decent place. Good comfort food for those I would like to grab a late nights snack of bar food. Did you have a rude bartender there. He's been there for years unfortunately. Good music typically on Friday or Saturday night!

The chicken dish was very flavorful. The white meat a bit chewy. Good flavor overall. Service lacked attention at times, buy my waitress was kind and we had a nice chat.

The staff is above and beyond friendly. They always check in at the table, and not just the waitress. The host was extremely friendly and made sure that we were okay at different points at dinner. The appetizer came out very quick as well as the drinks. But the food took much much longer. We were there with three of our boys, and by the time the food came, they were exhausted and starving. My kids enjoyed their food, each one of them. And my husband enjoyed his shepherd's pie. I ordered the prawn Caesar. It was definitely not worth the wait. The prawns had no flavor to them at all. But yet the staff still checked in to make sure we are okay, and everyone was so polite I didn't have the heart to complain about the salad.

I was excited to go as I hadn't been in years. I'm a 3rd generation Novato resident who recently relocated back to Novato after 10+ years. Sadly, I was disappointed. My meal was decent, its hard to screw up a burger but my daughters meal was tasteless and cold. My husband's meal was ok but the portion size was fairly small considering the price. As a rest, he was left hungry so I gave him half of my meal. Our daughters meal turned out to be free that night which would've made up for my husband's meal had it been something we wanted to eat. I realize prices have gone up everywhere and especially on food. Had the service been better it would've made up for the price! The server was polite but in my opinion inexperienced. Our to go order was completely forgotten and had I not reminded him we would of left empty handed. In addition, due to the Togo meal being forgotten it wasn't included in our bill. When I asked why, that is when he finally realized he'd forgotten. Instead of running a new bill while I decided how I wanted to pay, he just stood there and told me what it "would be once he added it" then continued to stand there watching me even after I said I would likely pay cash. There was no reason he couldn't have stepped away and put the order in that he'd forgotten. Its basic serving etiquette that you allow a patron to decide their payment choice privately and then you return to either run the card and return with receipt for tipping or close out the bill and provide change if needed. You do not stand there staring while they are deciding. It was numerous errors usually made by someone inexperienced which Im hoping was the issue. Regardless, detailed and thorough training of the position can make up for inexperience, if its done right. I suggest stepping up your game in that dept. by allowing new servers to shadow more experienced staff until they are able to provide the service people are expecting. Plus, good servers bring repeat business. When I go out for a meal, I expect someone else to cook, serve and clean up for me, that's what I'm paying for. I also understand that good help is hard to find especially in Marin where the cost of living is so high so Im willing to give it another chance. Plus I love the location and the outdoor seating. The live music was great, not to loud either. 😁

Food is good. Bartender on days can make you basic cocktails. If you want anything she has not heard of, she will tell you she is out of the items necessary. Even while the said items are in full view. This happened twice in the same meal. Live music at night. Night bartender was great.

Nice selection of food on the menu, though some of the options weren't quite what I imagined then to be. The shepherd's pie was actually made of lamb, which is a nice change from most places serving it made from beef and calling it shepherd's pie. Tasted strongly of rosemary and thyme, I would have liked a stronger darker gravy. My wife had the fish and chips which were three smallish pieces of fish, but tasted fine (maybe could have benefitted from beer in the batter). Sadly no Irish cider on tap - no cider on tap at all, in fact - only a local cider in cans. The service was fast and attentive.

Every time I go here it take a long time and we end up being there for a couple hours. Today they had an easter brunch and I figured it would be busy and expected a long wait but to my surprise, it wasn't that bad as far as guest volume goes. Another nice surprise was that they installed an outdoor sidewalk seating area that was pretty nice. However, I was shocked at the overall wait. Even with the volume of diners there it still took forever. I noticed that the waiters support staff were pretty much non existent as well. Diners had to flag people down for things like refills. Another shocking thing was that the usual sunday dollar mimosa was $7 for easter brunch. The table sitting behind up flipped out over that. We were shocked too. If they could find a way to get the operation to run more efficiently I would go more often and they would turn a bigger profit but as is I wouldn't recommend this place unless you have about 2 hours to kill.

Good atmosphere, live music. But beer was flat and the fish in my fish and chips weren't cooked 100%. Also, the food was very bland, I think it had 0 salt or seasoning. No too happy considering how much I actually paid for it. Would not recommend unless you only want to grab a beer or two.

Visiting Marin County and went here with a buddy after reading all the reviews saying great things about this place. I don't know where all of it came from. After getting seated by one of the busboys (throughout the entire night I never saw the host at the front for more than a couple minutes. At one point she was texting on her phone and eating ice cream at the same time though), we had to ask for menus to look at what we wanted to order. The server took ten minutes before she came up to us. That was just about the last time we saw her. We both noted our server hanging out at other booths, chatting it up and being super friendly. After the food came out she stopped by once to (what I think) check on our food, except she awkwardly looked at us, pointed, then left. Had to go up to her to get our check from her, then waited another ten minutes before asking a different server to take our cards. For the two of us the total time was over an hour and fifteen minutes. I usually tip 20-25% but I was so offended by being deliberately skipped over that I tipped 10. Food was ok and the busboys were on point.

Not a good experience there today. Got seated right away but after that it was down hill. Waited 20 min for a coffee and a Shirley temple. Waited another 20 min for the food to get ordered. Food came out quickly but bacon was over cooked and my son didn't get the BBQ sauce he asked for. Waited another 15 min for that. The check came when my son was finally able to eat his chicken. Funny how the waitress took my CC right away. We were the 1st ones seated in our section and the last ones to leave, how does that happen? It's hard tipping the terrible service during the holidays. To tip well or not to tip well?? I've had terrible service and food there before, it'll be a long time till I go back.

I have noticed that I have been overcharged on my bill on more than a dozen occasions. Initially, I gave the benefit of the doubt, assuming these were honest mistakes. However, the frequency of these errors has raised serious concerns about your establishment's billing practices. When I finally addressed this issue recently, I was met with an unexpected and unprofessional response. Instead of resolving the matter, the bartender was not only dismissive but outright rude. To make matters worse, I was told not to return to the restaurant, which felt like retaliation for bringing up a valid and justifiable concern. I have always enjoyed coming to Finnigan’s Marin, but this experience has left me questioning your commitment to customer service and fair business practices. Given the circumstances, I would appreciate an explanation as to why this has happened repeatedly, as well as steps you plan to take to ensure this does not happen to other patrons. Furthermore, I hope you will address the manner in which this situation was handled, as no customer should feel unwelcome or disrespected for trying to resolve an issue. I value transparency and accountability and hope you will respond promptly. My goal is not to escalate this matter but to give you an opportunity to rectify the situation and regain my trust. I have always enjoyed visiting Finnegan's Marin in Novato, but my recent experience was disappointing. I went to the pub on Saturday night and politely asked if I could sit at my usual table, which has an outlet to charge my phone. I explained that I had $20 to spend on beer. To my surprise, the bartender said, "no," insisting I would have to order more than just beer. The patrons at the bar were visibly shocked by her response, but no one intervened. She then instructed me to leave. I have always respected and enjoyed this local pub, but this incident left me feeling unwelcome. It's a shame that a paying customer who simply needed to charge their phone was treated this way. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the issue. I used to consider Finnegan's a nice and respectful establishment, but this experience has certainly changed my perspective. ---

Regular patron since opening. Will NEVER eat or drink here again. Alive 60 years. Angry hostile female must be having a very bad day, go home before verbally accosting persons within the establishment. If she represents owners Novato residents and visitors beware.

Our experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. It took them 15 minutes to even take our order, despite the place not being very crowded. To make matters worse, it took another 30 minutes for our drinks and appetizers to arrive, leaving us famished for a total of 45 minutes before we decided to leave. The food quality was abysmal. The nachos they brought as an appetizer seemed stale and reheated, far too greasy and heavy for an appetizer. I couldn't eat anything for the next four hours. What's even more frustrating is that no one from the staff offered an apology. I have no intention of ever returning to this restaurant.

It was all bad I asked for a well done burger, when I got it it was rare I asked for it to be well done and I got a burnt burger that taste burnt so we asked for the bill and left. I would not recommend this place
