went here gor fathers day, the meat was delicious and i recommend ordering individual plates of meat since it is a lot cheaper and it gives you more variety.
So very good they have their own dry aging room it's amazing quality beef. Also the side dishes are all so good. Perfect balance of flavors, not overly salty. The best part though of course if the raw quality of the meats. Lastly the prices are more reasonable than Central flushing or Manhattan for sure. But no trade off on quality.
I always have a great time here. The meat is delicious and they always have a ton of side dishes. Great spot for families!
The perfection of Korean BBQ, the ultimate experience. A table filled with delicacies, delicious prepped foods - you can, if you order well, get the package that is essentially a personal buffet delivered to your table with a chef that cooks the meats for you. With two different types of fire! First gas, then they swap out the whole assembly for charcoal fire to cook the steak. It's a whole experience, and you get what you pay for.
This is my favorite Korean restaurant. You get quality food, BBQ beef is so tender, and juicy! Service is marvelous, many dishes you can choose, simple cool noodle, hoy spicy soup, from lunch box to table serve BBQ, everything was delicious! The condiment were amazing! If you have a good appetizer, this is the place to go. We went on weekday for lunch, one order of short rib soup, one beef rib lunch box. Enjoy everything!
Chilsung Garden blew my mind. The service at this spot was the best we have ever had at a KBBQ place. Sure, at all places they make sure you don't burn the meat, but here? my god they were so attentive, always smiling, always bringing water and other drinks, always replenishing the Banchan, and the wait for a table was not long at all! And the food? I mean it's KBBQ, how can you go wrong? Go beef when you're here by the way. You'll love it. And don't forget to order a side of rice!!
This place is a nice Korean spot. I have not tried the KBBQ, so I cannot comment on that, but the stews and banchan are very good. The portion is filling and they know how to make you full, but not the bad kind of full. Service was pretty good, with friendly servers and they were efficient with bringing out food quickly. The outdoor dining setting was also a plus, since it was themely-decorated, well-lit, and had multiple heaters. I can't think of a complaint so I won't force one in. Good spot !
My first time having Korean food. A fun and yummy lunch for our son, waitress was terrific. Steak was delicious, chicken very good, kimchee tasty, many choices to enjoy. Our 3 year old grandson ate one of the tiny fish! Recommend for a family celebration. Staff is accommodating & helpful.
Pics of menu as of 03/22/2023 because I saw that the prices changed a bit since my last visit. Chilsung Garden has a welcoming vibe. It's clean, people are attentive, food is delicious and has a large parking lot (shared with other stores). What more can you ask for? Would definitely recommend! (not a big fan of their cold noodle in broth (aka nyangmyun), but that's just my preference).
Chilsung Garden is my “go-to” Korean restaurant. Lunch special has many options with galbi /fish and cold buckwheat noodles or soups. For dinner, we usually order marinated ribeye for table bbq. They use charcoal so when the beef gets cooked, it has smoky flavor. It comes with so many side dishes (banchon), steamed egg, soybean soup. Sometimes they serve marinated blue crab dish. We always order spicy squid dish to share. After the bbq, we order cold buckwheat noodles at the end. This is authentic Korean restaurant where food quality and service are superb. Weekend gets busy for table side bbq service, so I usually go during the weekday or for lunch special. Over 20+visits this year, we always had great meals.
I’d say I’m a regular customer that I would go at least once a week with my mom. All the staffs are so nice, friendly and professional including the nice vibe. especially, so many side dishes come with main order. I highly recommend here and I would give 10 out of 10.
We've been there a couple of times before and the food was good. One time I was there about 2 months ago and the food was not so good. I was there again today and the Korean short ribs and all of the accompaniments we ordered were excellent
Been here a few times, they have an amazing lunch menu but we were there on a weekend so we ordered from h The regular menu. We had a scallion pajeon(pancake) it was unexpectedly tasty (crunchy outside and a lot of scallion and packed with taste inside...perfectly cooked). Then came our meats. They cooked our Pork Belly first on a stone grill. It was so juicy and perfectly done. Also, they gave us so many banchans.. their kimchi was really good. Then we have the galbi and marinated galbi. They were both very tender and again perfectly cooked on a charcoal grill. I prefer the non marinated because I eat that with kimchi and garlic wrapped in lettuce. The slight disappointment was the rice. It was too hard and we ended up barely finishing our rice. Overall, we were all happy with our meal and they treated us to a sweet dessert drink with our check.
This is the best Korean BBQ place in Bayside. You might pay a little more but definitely worth it. Prime Rib Eye Steak is something that you must order, it’s really good quality. Like other Korean restaurants they have plenty of side dishes as well. They service is average actually could be better. Overall I would recommend here for Korean bbq.
One of the best Korean restaurants in Queens! Delicious, high-quality food with generous portions, tasty side dishes, and great service. Perfect for all kinds of Korean dishes and BBQ.
Have not been to many Korean BBQ restaurants and this one was recommended to me. We arrived without a reservation and were promptly seated. We were greeted with some warm green tea which was welcomed as it was very cold outside. We got the Prime Dry Aged Rib Eye Steak and Marinated Angus Beef Short Rib. With that we got the Pancake with Seafood and Scallion, the Noodle with Sautéed Beef & Vegetables, These 4 things we adored! We also got the Steam Shrimp Dumplings which I need to be tried more to get to like them more. The steaks were perfectly cooked by the waitress The service was fast and professional and as it was our first time at a Korean BBQ restaurant, we needed some instruction to what to do which we were kindly assisted. The only problem of the place was that it was slightly cold in the restaurant. Even the staff was wearing down vests but there might be a reason for this. I would have posted photos but I was too excited by the whole experience and simply forgot. Their web-sight gives an accurate portrayal of all the dishes. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance 4/5
Our go-to KBBQ spot. The service is always good, the meat quality is solid, and the atmosphere is great. If you’re going on a weekend, be sure to arrive early since there can be a wait for a table. The restaurant is spacious, and we’ve been coming here for years—always a great experience.
Got together with friends before the year was over. I haven't eaten in NY in ages so I thought the price was a bit steep but the Galbi BBQ we had was well worth it! The quality of the meat was superb! If I crave for good cut of meat next time, this is where I'm coming. 😁
This is my go to restaurant with my parents. We have never been disappointed coming here. My favorite lunch combo is the bulgogi with the cold noodles. Truly the perfect combination. As for the soups, my go to is always the 2 types of spicy beef soups. The bonchons are all delicious as well! I just wish they have kimbap was well, but hey, I would just get fatter haha!
This place is very legit. Out of the world customer service, food is very tasty and very good value. Highly recommend it especially if it’s your first time trying Korean BBQ. They cook the meet for you. My only regret is that I didn’t take any pictures before we crushed all the food.
As expected, the taste of cold noodles(Naengmyun) is excellent. Today, I chose the hoe-deopbap, and it was the best choice. The sashimi and various vegetables were abundant, and most of all, it was fresh and satisfying. The galbitang had soft ribs, and the broth was delicious. The side dishes were also clean and good. This is a restaurant I would recommend for a family gathering.
First Time at Chilsung Garden – Now I Understand the Hype! After living in New York for 15 years, I finally visited Chilsung Garden for the first time. Now I see why everyone talks about it! We were seated within about three minutes of arriving, and as soon as we placed our order, the banchan (side dishes) started coming out. True to the reputation of Korean restaurants, the service was impressively fast. We ordered the fresh galbi and special galbi. When the charcoal grill arrived, I could tell it was the real deal—authentic charcoal that gave the meat an incredible smoky flavor. The beef was fresh, and the staff skillfully grilled it to perfection for us. More side dishes followed, including geotjeori (freshly seasoned kimchi), steamed egg, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and the highlight—freshly marinated spicy raw crab (yangnyeom gejang). While all the banchan were well-seasoned and delicious, the geotjeori was exceptionally good, and the yangnyeom gejang had the perfect level of spiciness. I don’t usually eat much rice, but I ended up finishing most of it because of the crab! For dessert, we ordered bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles), and wow—it was so good that I’d come back just for the noodles. The service was excellent, with friendly staff and the ladies who grilled our meat doing an amazing job. It was a truly satisfying Saturday dinner, and now I understand why Chilsung Garden has remained a beloved spot for so long. Next time, I’ll have to try the stir-fried octopus (nakji bokkeum), as my friend highly recommended it!
If you're craving authentic Korean barbecue, Chilseong Garden is a must-visit! Their Galbi BBQ is absolutely incredible—perfectly marinated, tender, and grilled to perfection right at your table. The flavors are rich and savory, with just the right amount of sweetness that makes it irresistible. What sets this restaurant apart is the generous variety of side dishes (banchan) that accompany the meal. From kimchi to japchae and seasoned vegetables, each side dish complements the barbecue beautifully, adding depth and balance to the dining experience. The constant refills of fresh, flavorful banchan were a delightful bonus! The staff are attentive and friendly, ensuring the grill is cooked just right and that you’re comfortable throughout your meal. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for family gatherings or casual dining with friends. Chilseong Garden truly captures the essence of Korean cuisine with its delicious food and excellent service. I can’t wait to go back and enjoy another round of their amazing BBQ!
One of my favorite K-BBQ joints in Queens. It's very clean, fresh and premium meats offered and they cook for you. Please be vocal about how you want your meats cooked otherwise it's pretty much medium well. I prefer medium rare so you gotta watch that grill! The prime rib and Angus beef are excellent. Galbi as well. Bimbimbap is delicious and I recommend it. The seafood pancake and scallion pancake is delicious - not too greasy. Their generous ban chan is another reason to try this place. They offer more than many other places I've been and the variety is great too (steamed egg, squash, squid, kimchi, cabbage, salad, and so much more). Great service - just wished that the table for four was a little more roomy. The grill was not centered to the table so one person loses some surface space. Also given the generous plate sizes and depending on how much you order, there's literally no room once everything shows up. We ended up using the cart they brought the meats on, as an extension to our table. There was no room!
I love the food here. I am always quickly seated and they are very attentive, most days I don't use the provided bell to call the waiter. All the service staff are talented and quick and helpful. The steak is perfectly cooked to order and the banchan is yummy and well varied. My favorite sauce is the sesame oil with salt and pepper just a perfect addition that lets the flavor and quality of meat shine through the pork belly and jowl are well marbled and tasty. My only problem is sometimes due to how fast everyone is moving it can feel like they want you to eat and leave as fast as possible. I understand efficiency and speed service wise but I've been coming for a few years and that feeling is relatively consistent. They still get a 5 star overall because everything else is amazing! Adding some current menu pics cause the prices have changed. Worth every penny!
Great Galbi and great service. I'm not knowledgeable enough about Korean food or culture to give a proper evaluation. I can say that I liked it. Was a little disappointed that we weren't able to get sushi on our visit because the sushi Chef's take a break at a certain time of day. I understand that, but we were not the only table sitting down to eat. There were at least four other tables near us and I assume they couldn't get sushi either. Maybe the sushi Chef needs to be on duty if guests arrive and take a break when nobody is in the dining room?
Went in for dinner on Friday. Surprisingly, not too many people when we arrived, but when we left around 8, there was a line. For 3 people, we ordered two orders of the short rib and a thick cut pork belly. We were told by our waiter, who did come off a little aggressive, we wouldn’t get our meat grilled at the table if we didn’t order at least two orders of the premium meats and or short ribs (our initial order was just one short rib and pork belly). Meat quality was good, but a bit overpriced. I would come back, but there are other amazing Korean bbq places in the area with the same quality, but reasonable price. Server was also very keen to see how much we tipped her even before we left.
Great food and dining experience! I must admit the portions are quite small but, they are tasty. Staff are also very accommodating. My only downfall was that our table ordered sushi and the waitress forgot about it. By the time we reminded her the sushi bar was closed, she also wasn’t putting out enough table settings or bringing out enough glasses. But, still 4 stars for the overall experience.
One of the top Korean BBQ in area. Love this place. Would love it more if BYOB was a $10 corkage fee instead of $25? The best Chinese restaurants have zero corkage fee. I would tip 25% of the bill for that courtesy 🙏🏻. Wake up managers & smell the coffee. Hint hint 😅😅
We were 7 R.O.M.E.Os (Retired Old Men Eating Out) at 5:00. Service pleasant but hard to get -- asked 3X for glass for beer. Great seafood scallion pancakes, fried veg dumplings, steamed egg, many side dishes that came with nice Beef and Chicken BBQ. We ordered smartly, so cost was only $32/man including generous tip. Take control and you'll have a terrific experience.
We have been going to this restaurant for years! The food is fantastic. However, during summer or winter, when it’s very hot or very cold, the air conditioning is bad. It’s hot on summer day and cold on winter day.
Came here on a Tuesday at 11 am. Parking located in the back. A little confusing at first. Korean name over the restaurant at the back entry. In the front, it looks like two different restaurants but they are not. English name on the right and Korean name on the left. You have to enter on the left. We were the first diners but it filled up very quickly. They give you a lot of sides (banchan) as you can see in my picture. They were very good. We ordered dolsot bibimbap, galbi dolsot and yukhwe bibimbap. The dolsot came out sizzling. I like spicy but spicy doesn't like me so I did not use any of the sauces. The dolsots were bland without the sauce so I asked for soy sauce. Without the spicy sauce for the Yukhwe, you can taste the beef. It had a fresh mild beef taste. Servers were very attentive. Overall a good place for traditional Korean fare.
The food was great - both the cold ice noodles and the spicy ice noodles were great. The galbi was good and the overall restaurant was large and appeared clean. They had sinks outside the bathrooms which made it easy to just wash your hands especially if you have kids. The fried dumplings were good but too sweet; my kids loved them though. However, noting that the food was great, the service was horrible; we didn't get to order till 10min after being seated. Every time we needed something, we saw countless employees but they all ignored you. It was busy but that's not an excuse for that kind of service. We ate all the beef and had more that needed to be cooked but no one came so we gave up and did it ourselves. When we were done eating, the employee sitting by the cashier area didn't even acknowledge us. Also the main side dishes such as the bean soup and egg soufflé didn't even come out till an hour in which obviously by then my kids and I were all done eating! What's the point of bringing it out then?! Overall, food was great but the service was so bad which makes me lean towards not going unless I'm ordering to go.
Great place. The industrial decor is really cool. Food is great. The steak aged well and squid stir fry the best I've ever had. Prices are reasonable. Reading the reviews you would think that having Korean people working in a Korean restaurant is somehow a problem. Yes some of the staff may not speak English which adds to the atmosphere but most of them do. People who complain about what language the staff speaks should concider McDonalds.
The food was good and our go to BBQ where they fire the coals on a propane and coal system a little smoky so beware not to where your best outfits or your will smell of smoke. The kalbi was decent but a little expensive, we asked several times for refills on the side dishes our waitress was not happy. The portions seem smaller now on the chap che noodles. The ten side dishes appear average today, maybe the chef not here.
Wanted to try a Korean BBQ close to where I live and this place was recommended by a friend. There were 4 of us and we went with one of the BBQ combo's. The waitress cooked the meat in an order in which they got better and better ending with the Chefs special marinated short rib. The pancake with scallions was a hit. Suprised they didnt have pork dumplings but the vegitable ones were better than most. The side were good as well, especially the soup. They gave us a choice of wine with the meal and we went with the Malbec which was average. Suprised they didnt have dessert, was looking foward to a nice green tea Mochi, but looks like they want to turn tables instead of having someone linger over coffee. Now having been there I would recommend it as well.
Came here for lunch. They offered a set lunch special where you can pick a main and soup. I ordered the fried fish and spicy tofu soup. The fish was nice and crispy however towards the belly there was a bitter taste probably from how close it is to where the internal organs are. The tofu soup was amazing especially with the brown/purple rice they provided. Generous amounts of mini clams and tofu. I love the mini dishes provided - nice little snacks to change up the taste of the main course Service staff was quick and attentive. Will definitely come back for more
I came to this place multiple times in the past and it never disappointed. The meat here is absolutely phenomenal. It is so soft and juicy, and the waiters are especially kind. The vibes here are great and aesthetically pleasing. Only complain is about the cold broth noodles. It tasted like there were lots of ingredients missing and was overall very watery. Maybe it was just a bad day. Everything else was good, but it was kind of disappointing.
A very large selection on their menu! Not only do they offer Korean barbecue, but sushi as well. The combo platter that we ordered is supposedly their most expensive - 4 different kinds of meat, a sushi platter, a bottle of red wine, a bottle of sparkling water, and soup. I don’t believe I left anything out. The food was delicious. The meat is cooked medium well and is very flavorful. The soup was delicious as well. Quite sweet, which I did not expect since we requested for the soup to be mildly spicy. We received a scallion pancake for free. The pancake was thick and went quite well with the soup if paired together. The service was phenomenal although they were short staffed. Our waitress went above and beyond for our table. She even cut up the meat in bite-size portions for my children, and she set it aside for me. My advice is if you’re going to order combo platters, I would probably skimp out on those small dishes (I forget the proper name for them) because it was a lot of food and for a party of 7, we were sadly unable to finish our food. I would most definitely come here again to celebrate a birthday, or with a large group if you don’t want the food to go to waste.
The food was OK. Had ribs and jock and both were satisfactory. Seafood pancake had barely any seafood in it. I inquired about it, and the waitress said they use bagged portions. Well, maybe the portions are too small? Beef/octopus stew was terrible. Inedible beef and octopus because they were rubbery and too chewy. One short chubby waitress was terrible. Others were excellent. The recommended tips should be calculated based on the SUBTOTAL, not including the tax. Servers do not service on the taxes. Please fix this. I tipped nearly 20% anyway, since it was a special occasion for my party, but when you have a subtotal of hundreds of dollars, that additional 8.875% added into the calculation adds up a lot.
Well-flavored kalbi and good offering of banchan, though they didn't provide enough steamed egg for the table. The seafood pancake was ok. But they know how to do Korean barbecue (using a flat grill pan for the pork belly to not have grease fires vs. the wood charcoal with grill grate for the beef) albeit in small portions. It also took a while to get tea refills and by the time we got it, it was time to go. Spacious, airy setting with outdoor seating also (though it was dark outside the night we were there). The parking lot is crowded with tight spaces but better than finding street parking.
I think their price is just at the right place. I had both bbq and seafood, the foods tasted right between okay and good. But was definitely not great. Their wait staffs did a worthy job. I paid for their services not for their foods. Since its a restaurant, I enjoyed their services but I wouldn't come again for food.
My friend was unhappy with the octopus dish a the owner a manager did nothing to satisfy the customer. Only onions an no octopus. We left without giving a tip sn will never eat there. Very unsatisfactory towards customers.
Service was vey bad. The staff was unkind and she didn't come even if I asked for a refill. Even though we ate all the ribs on , they didn't show up, fire went weak When I asked why, the staff said it was during lunch break.
Haven't been back since pre-covid. Not sure what happened, but the service was not great. I felt like my family was being ambushed! Within 5 minutes of sitting and barely looking through the menu, atleast 4 waitresses asked if we were ready. Each time they came up, we said we needed more time and they didn't listen. As food was coming out, they kept pushing out so much stuff at once. I felt like I couldn't keep up! I just wished they slowed down a little. My family and I finished food in an hour. Usually dinners last longer than that. I felt like they were just trying to get customers in and out ASAP. Other than the service, the food was still good; a little expensive, but good. If you're in need of a quick paced restaurant with decent food, I guess this spot is for you.
Dinner for three, arrived one hour before last order n 1.5 bour before closing. Staff are pushy to get us out as soon as they can. Korean bbq is no longer a night dinner out as it used to be. It is not too expensive but it is above the average dinner price tag, expect a bit more service. Wil never come back again!
It was my mom’s bday and we wanted something besides our usual pasta and pizza. Reservation was a breeze but I let them know we had a stroller. He was a little hesitant saying it wouldn’t fit and sort of lectured me on how baby shouldn’t be breathing in bbq smoke. I reassured him that baby won’t be too close that the smoke won’t be so deadly and we’ve been to other restaurants. This was all spoken in Korean. Plenty of space for a stroller btw so don’t feel discouraged about taking your little one. There were empty tables but lots of big parties and I understand when waitresses get busy…. To a point! We were given the worst service! First of all, they should’ve scheduled more people to work on holidays. They had two serving a party of 15, 10, 12, 6, 8, and maybe another 10. That’s a lot for two people! I don’t mind cooking the meat, sometimes I rather prefer it. But when they wouldn’t cook it and I started, they kept coming over saying they’ll do it. I hate that. It took about 10 minutes to change to charcoal so even if we wanted more non marinated meat (different grill) we didn’t order it bc they would have had to change it again and would’ve taken forever. So we just kept ordering galbi. And the last two servings we had, the waitress piled on ALL the meat on one small grill. The meat was literally hanging off the grill. I took some off and started cooking. She came over again and said, oh, did I put that much on there? Uuumm, ya think? My brother was so pissed with the whole experience he stopped eating. My parents weren’t having fun so they kept quiet. We also wanted to have some wine but we figured that would’ve been a terrible mistake so we didn’t order it. When we paid, one waitress came over and apologized and said we didn’t need to tip bc they didn’t give their best. But I couldn’t do that even though the whole night was ruined. I left a lot more than they deserved tbh. But the other waitress couldn’t wait to collect the tip as we were getting up. I was ok with the whole experience up until that point. I admit, the meat was amazing, but bc these two ruined our mother’s dinner, this is one establishment we will never return. We are a family of 10 (incl. 3 kids & baby) and usually spend over $1k every time we get together for special events. We love eating and trying everything on the menu. This is the first time we spent a low amount. I think we all just lost our appetite and that’s the worst thing that can happen to anyone dining out. I really hope they fix their issues.
I had two negative experiences here which will explain my score. First is a 냉면 where I found hair in it. Mistakes can happen. But the second time I came here I ordered 떡국 and the meat tasted and smelled like they were using expired food for the meal. That's unacceptable. Their service and past food has been good so that's why I'm not giving 1/5 right now.
I returned from this restaurant I visited in a long time with a disappointed heart. My wife and my friend's family had dinner yesterday here, but the food turned out to be spoiled twice, so we had to cancel. The taste of the seasoning lingered in other dishes for a long time. I continue to feel uncomfortable and bloated until this morning of this writing. For me this restaurant was one of the best Korean restaurants with good food and service, but I am very disappointed to have this experience. I don't want to go again.
Hibachi style Korean restaurant. spacious and clean Resturant with mostly friendly staff. I had variety of steaks, all cooked in front of us on the table and tasted good. Limited parking in the back. Saw many families enjoying a good meal *****UPDATE * 11/29/22 I am forced to lower the rating due to decline in service. The server( Asian lady )was very aggressive and provided terrible table side service. Questioned me on why no tip was left on the credit card!!(She didnt see that I had left cash tip on the table) Refused to give me an extra take out container saying only one small container per person !!
I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years and used to love it, but the quality has really declined. On my last visit, the meat was so tough and rubbery that it was practically inedible. Chewing felt like a workout and I eventually had to give up. Our waitress tried a piece and couldn’t finish it. We ended up leaving about a third of our order untouched and didn’t even bother packing it to go. The staff kept apologizing, but said there was nothing they could do since no manager was on site. This used to be one of my favorite spots, but at this point I don’t think I’ll be returning.
Not sure why people pay so much money to eat here. over expectations, over priced. its just typical Korean place, just looks fancy to me nothing more. Service got worse too. I remember they were used to be good but quality really went down IMO. I do my own dry aging steaks and I cook, I know my meat.
Sarah was a horrible waiter. Very rude and aggressive. First, they employees were shocked that all 4 people at the table wanted water and tea. We ordered the thinly sliced beef and she gave us the cooked bulgogi. We said we wanted thinly sliced beef to be cooked in front of us and she said she could not take back the food even though we did not eat it. We then asked for 4 orders of the beef we originally wanted and quickly changed our mind because we did not want to be there any longer due to the service. We kept asking them to cancel the order before they even set up the grill and before the beef even hit the table but she again said she could not cancel the order as they already sliced the beef. We said to give the meat to another table and she said she couldn’t. Ultimately, we got our way and she did not charge us for it. We paid for the 3 other dishes that were on our table untouched. I did not leave a tip due to the rude service and the waiter kept trying to grab the receipt out of my hand and showing me the percentages which I could tip. As I left, she kept calling for me and chased me out the door asking if I was going to leave a tip. I said no the service was horrible and left.
Horrible service! Party of four during dinner time on a Monday. Waitstaff was inattentive, did not come to refill water after requesting it from multiple servers. Requested refills on a side dish, was told that they’ve ran out, but then sees new customers receiving the exact side dish after. Asked for containers while also asking for the check, sever came to take the bill, returned the signed receipt and still managed to not bring the requested containers. Finally when the containers were bought over, we only received 1 lid to 3 soup containers. Food was decent, but the service was horrible. Will not be returning.
Our very first Chilsung experience was HORRIBLE. First of all, our waitress kept rushing us to order and then when I asked her for recommendations. She said “I would recommend the set order but it would be expensive for you.” Throughout the dining, we asked for 3 bowls of rice, but she only brought two. And toward the end of the dinner, my son was asking for iced water refill. Our waitress instead of filling the water herself, she took out walkie talkie and called for help. And no one come to refill water. We asked for another two employees and they merely nodded and never come back with water. Overall the experience was extremely uncomfortable and we didn’t enjoyed the food at all. Also we feel the management there is not family friendly because our group has few children and somehow that’s a hassle to them.
I used to support this business because it’s very spacious and serve good quality food. However, I had an incident today where my friend confirmed in advance if he could bring his service dog, and when we arrived, the owner came in with an extremely hostile attitude saying we have to leave immediately because of the service dog. Firstly, this is illegal and my friend already reported this business. Secondly, I refuse to support a business where an owner has such disdain and disrespect to the community supporting his business. He clearly only cares about money and not the well being of his customers.
Used to come here all ths time but lately tge service has gone down to some miserable level. They act very stingy with the sides and will tell you "i think it would be too much for you". Unless I don't finish my food they should have no problem since the sides are unlimited. They had an attitude like I'm wasting their food. When we come here we come with heavy meal protein meal in mind and order alot of meat and for them to act stingy with sides is unacceptable. They do not honor their posted hours. If they feel its slow they will close up shop early. Last time they sat us down gave us menu just yi come tell us Chef said kitchen is closed. It was 8:10 pm We ended up going to much better place and with much better rating and were happy to take our money
I asked 1 small to-go container for 1 side dish which we barely touched. They refused to give, saying that's not their policy. That is my food for which I paid. I talked to the owner and got the same answer of No. I spent $180 for 3 people including $30 of tip. I felt like I got treated like a beggar. I am restaurant owner and I never refused to give a container for leftovers. Better than throwing away! They lost a longtime customer! My family will never go back to this restaurant.
Bad service refused to give us rice and lied saying there wasn’t enough and we had a party of 15
We decided to give Chilsung a try. The experience ended up extremely HORRIBLE. First of all, our waitress was rushing us to order and when I asked for her recommendation, she said to me “I would recommend the set order but they are VERY expensive.” And then after we placed the order I asked for three bowl of rice and she only brought two. And I wanted to make sure we get the egg stew and she almost scolded at me, “what is the rush, they are making it and you have to wait” toward the end of the dinner, my son asked for iced water refill. Our waitress did not even bother to help, she took out her walkie talkie and called for help. No one stop by to refill the water. We asked for another two employees and they simply nodded and did not come back with iced water. We feel Chilsung is not kids friendly at all, they probably wanted us to be out ASAP because our group do have a few children. Services wise - very, extremely horrible. Definitely not going back and would not recommend to anyone.
There was very bad service and refused to give rice to a party of 15 that reserved before hand
Way over priced. And I ordered the aged ribeye and it came fresh. Maybe aged for 3 days ?? Won't go again. I like Biwon , way better than this place.
The electricity was shorted and went out at the entire shopping mall including this restaurant went out during when I was dining with a friend. We waited and it still hasn’t came back even after 30 minutes. Other customers began to use their flashlights on the phone to continue with their meal. We were tired of the situation and asked for a check. Of course, the card machine was also out and asked to be paid in cash. I understood but I did not have any cash and asked if they accepted venmo or zelle. The owners declined and asked for the card information and told us it will be charged later when the electricity comes back on. But they also asked if they can get a copy of my ID and I denied since I believe it is absurd to give my information just for a meal. Long story short, they asked for my phone number along with the card info but had audacity to ask for tip. Yes, tipping is no problem but if your customers are having bad experience due to the cause that is beyond their reach, don’t you think you should apologize first? The servers apologized but the owners were just busy collecting customers card information so that they won’t have any losses. We had couple entrees and two beers. You are operating a business. Instead of worrying about the losses, if I were you, losses should not be your first concern. If you, for example, apologize for the incident and maybe be like the beers were on us for the inconvenience, I would’ve happily thank them and gave them more than enough tip for their sincerity. But up until I was leaving after giving the information. They were like.. “how about the tip?” Like seriously? Trying their absolute best not to lose few hundred bucks and ask for tip? I still gave them 18% since the servers were at no fault but these owners need to wake up. Doesnt care about the customers inconvenience because they were acting like it’s not their fault. Yes it is not your fault on what happened but your attitude towards the customers were absurd. Never will go back. You will lose more than what you have collected on yesterday. The food is decent but their mindset is absolute garbage.
Refuses service to a service animal. They didnt even try to accommodate despite there being no people, when we asked to go into a booth. Then when we tried to say okay and be polite and understanding, one of us sat and waited with the dog at the front. Our final straw was when they asked our guest to leave the premises completely because the dog was still inside.
Was excited to see that this place opened in the neighborhood and was anticipating trying it, but I won't EVER eat there or even suggest for my group of friends to try it after every day that I pass by there, I see this right outside the rear entrance from the parking lot. New restaurant and they don't care enough to control and tidy up th garbage. Shows a lot about the management. If this is th garbage, imagine how the kitchen looks in the basement. They can afford to pay for parking attendants to look prestigious, but are too cheap to get dumpsters. Wait until you visit in person and see how pleasant all this garbage smells. I'm surprised how the health department and landlord has not made an issue of this yet!
I had a terrible experience here. The service is horrible. They refused to give us our order even though we reserved before hand. I even spoke to the manager about it and they refused to do anything about it. I had to leave with all my guest and go to another place where they actually care about their customers.
Food was super bland, not even a hint of salt. It was so awful and disappointing. Never coming back here again. What's wrong with these restaurants. They make no effort to make there food taste good. So disappointing. I like to enjoy myself when I go out to eat and willing to splurge considering if the food is actually delicious. The thing it's pricey. And I'm okay with that but if you didn't make an effort to season the food with flavors. It tells me your cutting your cost to add those delicious flavors that you used to infused add. On top of that we still have to pay for tips. And the service is no longer what it used to be. So my overall experience was so disappointing.
The staff won’t allow me to take a side dish after we paid hundreds of dollars for food. This is absurd and wasteful and I will not be coming back here ever. What a terrible and selfish rule. The commitment to waste is unacceptable and upsetting. Please avoid this location, they are happy taking your money and wasting food.
This restaurant’s fried fish has half weight fish egg, it’s manager explained that this restaurant’s style. And bad service to refuse me change table. I ordered 2 BBQ beef and 1 fried fish and rice and lot of small dishes. It is very crowded and grilled beef hot pan heat me. Those waitress insisted on no table change. They told the bigger is for 6 people, but I didn’t see there are over 4 people sit by bigger table.
I ordered grilled fish lunch combo there were only two big fish roes I barely saw the fish meat. I talked to the waitress she kind of ignored. So on the way out I talked to the manager I also showed to her the picture. Her answer was unbelievable! Some customers like only roes not the meats from the fish. Ok maybe that restaurant gets customers who like fish roe instead of fish meat normally. I’m sorry but I’m not paying $30 for that kind of food. The manager’s attitude was terrible. I want to give 0 star if I can. I’m not going back to this horrible place.
