Opinions de Dragon Gate Bar & Grille Oakland
One of the best views in the Bay Area!! Calamari was incredible and so was the popcorn chicken bento box. Frog legs were a little dry and chewy and felt overcooked but my date still liked them. Food prices were standard but the drinks (especially the cocktails) were pretty overpriced ($21 for a margarita so I’ll probably go to merchants afterwards for drinks). Still gave 5 stars due to the calamari being one of the best I’ve had and the view being so amazing. I really love how this place is open so late considering nearly every place in Jack London closes early, especially on Sundays. Service was good. Will def be coming back here again!
I am obsessed with this new and improved spot! The view and the ambience is amazing! The food was incredible. To be honest, I don’t always love Chinese food because it’s a bit too greasy, but this food was the perfect mix! Everything felt delicious and pretty healthy, And the portions were also perfect. The bar and drinks were amazing, and Duy was super helpful, kind, and welcoming! This is a perfect spot to bring family, friends, a date. And honestly it fits any ambience! I still have to say that the view and the location is breathtaking, I highly recommend anybody who wants to see the best of Oakland ! Thank you and I’ll be back again!
This place is excellent! Food is great, and the karaoke rooms are top notch.
Great food presently well. Pleasant low key atmosphere, nice decor, good bar selection, reasonable prices for such a unique and extensive menu. A nice mix of favorite flavorful Asian cuisines! Great experience all around! Pleasant and helpful staff. Karaoke is a must!!!

Love the asthetic and menu at Dragon Gate. We drop by regularly and have tried multiple dishes and never are disappointed. The view from the bar dining area is unbeatable. We had a birthday party in the karaoke room and it felt like we were floating on the water! Highly suggest dropping in if you’re in JL! Also a solid latenight spot.
Loved everything about this place! Was there for my birthday 1/16 l,we had a ball! Karaoke, drinks, our room! All fire!!!
Cat, Sam, Q, the chefs, and dang I am forgetting someone because there were just so many good servers, bartenders and hostesses. It was going up on a Monday. Go and enjoy!

This restaurant may not work for everyone but the food here is definitely authentically Asian. They serve delicious chicken skins, frogs, and 3 types for of stinky tofu! You can still order the simple Chinese foods such as spring rolls and fried rice but if you are more adventurous this is the place to be. The restaurant is beautiful inside out, great views and efficient staff. Definitely a good vibe here. They open late so you can either have a bite or a full meal. Bring a foodie date here and you both will have a blast. Good for dates or family or group outing. Don’t snooze on this one!
Dragon gate moved to this waterfront location in October 2024. It’s a beautiful location with nice interior decor and feel. Only thing was the music was on the louder side but it makes sense when the place doesn’t have sound panels to drown out the loud conversations. There weren’t many diners when we were there so food came out relatively quick. The food was overall alright. It’s more of the location and atmosphere you’re paying for eating here vs the quality of Taiwanese food. It’s not bad, but it’s not something amazing either.
Taiwanese cuisine includes side dishes, stir-fries, and fried foods, and every dish is delicious! The price is a bit high, but the environment is very good with nice view , the food portions are not small, and the service is also great ! Parking underground , $2 per hour very reasonable.
*4.5 C33 Green Beans with Lamb - Yum! K2 Garlic Noodles - Yum! P15 Crispy Quail Eggs - Meh. Needs salt. Drinks - Filled to the brim--excellent! Open bar. Interior design - Amazing, immersive, cozy, love! Noise level - Very loud TV, but you can still have a conversation. Service - Quick, maybe a little too solicitous at times.

The food was absolutely Delicious! The interior design looks awesome! I really love their neon lights and the character of the whole place but the only thing is the waiters were not so kind. Really bad attitude like she didn’t want to be there. Other than that I had a good experience overall.

First thing, do NOT order the skewers, the meat was tough, has a slight "off" taste and came luke warm and w some sauce that was not it. When I told the waiter that they weren't good, he told me others have said the same. Aside from the delicious crushed cucumber salad, the rest of the dishes were nothing special, not bad, but I wouldn't go back for anything.
The interior of this place is Chinese Traditional vibes, with a view so it's really awesome and cool! Decor and seating is 100% definitely a place to chill and grab a drink and watch the sunset with friends. Food is not really tasty, westernized asian food. It's so so. If food taste improves this place would be my constant hangout for sure. We had the Tom yum, too spicy not flavourful as it should be, the garlic noodle flavour was good but way too oily, the wonton tasted like some meat slapped together and wrapped in dough, the popcorn chicken looked so unappeasable I didn't even take a picture. Alcolic drinks is higher end cost but decent tasting. Parking is hard to find around this area. Overall I'd recommend this place for sure.

This place has so much potential! The food was pretty good and the atmosphere is really nice because it’s on the water. However, there was a bunch of trash, cigarettes, and flies at the entrance. When we got inside, we had a reservation and there weren’t that many people there. Quite a few waitstaff were there but it still took some time to get seated. Then, they forgot one of the things we ordered. Also, the women’s restroom was out of TP, and the sun was in my mom’s eyes the whole time. All in all not the best experience. But, I think with some hard work this place can be great!
The vibe at this place is really weird imo. It’s obviously like an old seafood restaurant or sports bar but they serve food like you’d get at Quickly. Big space, nice area that’s underdeveloped, but this restaurant just feels cheap.
Servers aren’t attentive, food is Americanized and very mid. overall not the best experience they put the food o if fast. But I saw on the counter the rib noodle soup base came out of instant noodle package, if ur gonna do that at least hide the package well
The worst service I've ever experienced in a restaurant across 4 different servers. Someone came to take our order and we waited for drinks well after the food arrived, and had to ask 3 times where the drinks were Food was very bland, I asked for chili oil 3 times to 3 different people before I got the chili oil. When the food arrived the allergen instructions were not followed, the first person brought us the wrong dish entirely and then asked us why it had shrimp. Second person didn't clarify which dish was which. Now I'm sat here trying to flag someone down for the bill and even that's a struggle. When I did eventually get the bill they charged $30 gratuity because a few of our friends joined the table and didn't order or eat or drink anything and left within 10 minutes... they would have stayed and it would have been valid if the service wasn't so terrible. I've never left an establishment and not tipped! They could see it in my face I was mad and the server had the audacity to catch a little attitude. I pray establishments like this never find me! Only good thing is the playlist.

This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. The bartender, Manger and server were so rude and unprofessional. Going to a restaurant should be a good experience especially when you are spending you hard earned money. It's sad because this place came highly recommended for excellent food and drinks. This was Kincaids before so elegant. I drove all the way from the valley to experience this service. Now the food was great.
For a busy Saturday nite in Jack London there was no one behind the bar for 30 minutes. Super slow service based off bad management. There were no servers at all on the floor for the packed tables. It’s a great spot. Needs a better management team.
I booked a private karaoke room here to celebrate my birthday, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. The service was very slow and unprofessional. Our room had a service button that we were told to press if we needed assistance, but every time we pressed it, no one came. Both my party and another karaoke room had to repeatedly leave our rooms to go find a server just to get help. Food was brought out one plate at a time and took a very long time to arrive. When we asked about the delays, staff claimed they were busy, yet we saw employees walking around and not assisting guests. If the establishment knows weekends are busy, they should make sure they are properly staffed and organized so customers are taken care of—especially when people are paying for private rooms and celebrating special occasions. To make matters worse, when I raised concerns about the service, one staff member was very rude and dismissive. It felt like our concerns were being laughed off instead of taken seriously. There was no apology or attempt to fix the situation. My entire party had to keep leaving the room just to track down staff for basic service, and several of my guests also mentioned experiencing rude behavior. This was very unacceptable, especially when you are spending money to celebrate a special event. The service was misleading, disorganized, and very unprofessional. I would strongly recommend saving your money and booking somewhere else unless major improvements are made in how customers are treated and how the staff operates
GAVE ME FOOD POISONING. Horrid experience all around I went with a friend and we ordered mixed stir fry veggies and seven different meat skewers to share. firstly the food was egregiously overpriced. every single skewer was almost completely inedible, the lamb chicken and beef was all fatty grissle, impossible to chew and disguised with sweet sauce. the meat seemed under cooked and was clearly bottom of the barrel quality. the wait time just to have our orders taken was more than 30 minutes and there were only a few people other people at the bar. we ordered two drinks, ..$18 .. absolutely nothing noteworthy. when we were finished eating, there was nobody around to give us the check and we had to go up to the front to pay. to top it all off!! I got horrible food poisoning and threw up all night. (for anyone wondering, that was the only food I had eaten that day so yes I know it was from this restaurant)
I went here to eat on 10/11/25 for my sister birthday dinner we waited 1 hour and 30 min for our. They brought the rice out first which had egg shells in it and we never got our other food when the brought the sesame seed chicken out it was cold. We never got our shrimp chow mein, or our shrimp garlic noodles . The waiter never came to check on us to see where we OK and then when I told him I wasn’t paying for the service or the food, she tried to charge me $100 for three drinks and the drinks was only $15 apiece worst service ever don’t ever go here.
