Opinions de Everett and Jones BBQ Oakland
The real deal in CA. We loved it. My son says the potato salad is a must
For some good southern food with great service, look no further. Everett & Jones exceeded my expectations. The service is great, right when you walk in the doors. We were greeted and seated promptly with no wait. The food came out fairly quick and it was fresh. If you've never had the "ITIS" haha, you will get it after eating this food. We left full and ready for a nap. The only thing is I wish they had more chicken options. Other than that, this is a must try spot if you are in the area.
Hands down the best BBQ in the state of California! Do NOT miss this place on your way through the area. You will miss out. The staff is friendly and the establishment is inviting for everyone! Letting this place slip by will be a let down from your BBQ experience and home town dessert delights. One word sums this restaurant up. Amazing!!!
Once again if you want the hook-up on some good real-deal beef links& brisket check out this hot spot for soul food!!! It a mecca for any foodie or any one who love food! This place is great goto on the weekend and had a lively mixture of people. The staff is wonderful and they have big screens to sit and watch the game or dine in. The 🍸 bar serves a killer Cadillac margarita. Trust me its ALL good👍.
Would give 6 stars if I could. The absolute best BBQ in Oakland! Wether I want a quick lunch before work, or to take the whole family out, It’s absolutely fantastic every time and great quality cuts. All the staff is amazing, and really attentive, but wanted to give a special shout out to the bartender Charles who helped me out last time I was in! The best hospitality anybody can ask for.
Great BBQ food in a good location near Jack London Square. Staff was welcoming. Store was very clean. I was satisfied with the value of the food. The Obama’s have ate here before. I came due to word of mouth and I recommend this place to people heading to Oakland. Worth the stop. The Mac and Cheese was on point.
Special thanks to Darcia and Haley for their amazing customer service—they made booking the lounge quick and simple, even on short notice. Upon entry, the room was fully lit and inviting, but the food truly stole the show. Every dish was packed with flavor and made with love. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and perfectly baked, the potato salad was chilled and seasoned just right, and the baked beans were rich and savory with a hint of sweetness. The greens were tender and flavorful, the yams were buttery and sweet, and the meats, links, ribs, chicken, and brisket were all cooked to perfection. The ribs fell off the bone, the brisket was juicy and smoky, and the chicken was tender with a crispy skin. Each bite was absolutely delicious. Henry, the host, made it even more special with his warm spirit and meaningful conversation, which made us feel truly welcomed and appreciated. I left with a full stomach and a grateful heart This was more than just a meal; it was an experience I won’t forget.
This is and has been the go-to place for real bbq. Just the same brickhouse smoky spicy goodness for years and years.
These are the best ribs in town- hands down. I usually get the full rack with the spicy bbq sauce, and extra bbq sauce on the side. I don’t even use napkins, i just roll with the fact that everything I touch and do at that table will be a disaster of a mess. It is worth it. One night, I took my folks here, and they were having an outdoor party and everyone was incredibly nice and hospitable- we even got to meet the owner! She gave my dad and I 4 of the biggest smoked oysters I’ve ever seen. Just an incredible place to be, to take your loved ones, and celebrate over some insane food. Like I said, I mainly go for the ribs, but their hot links & brisket hold up too. I also frequently buy their bbq sauce at Safeway. It’s that good- try dipping those frozen Arby’s French fries in it and see which way the wind blows. Also, make sure to order a pink lemonade while you’re there.
The food was fantastic. I really give the food 5 stars. I enjoyed every bite! The customer service was friendly too. I will definitely be back. The only one complaint I have is the beef brisket was a little tough/tuff lol. Other than that man I was happy I ordered the 4way with two sides @ 43.00 the price was affordable and I even bought two additional sides for only 5bucks total. What a awesome meal thank you E&J. Barbeque and this was a Togo order and I still had some for lunch the next day. Koodlles toodles to youtles 😁❤🙏
Definitely ate too much, but when everything tastes so good it is hard to stop. I tried the three meat plate with the links brisket and pork ribs, mac and cheese and collard greens with a corn muffin and a papsi, and I feasted. The links are very good, rustic with a good texture and full of flavor, the brisket is close to perfection just a tiny bit more tender and I would be singing. The collard greens and mac were solid choices very good and the corn muffin was just the way I like it just a hint of sweet with a little coarse cornmeal but not crumbly at all and great flavor. The best though is the pork ribs, best flavor and texture on the plate, tender but not fall-apart slide off the bone so you can take a bite without the whole thing combing with you. And the sauce, I went with medium, was great complimenting the smoked meats without taking over the whole show, a little heat and the right thickness so it stays on the meat without becoming jello-y. The service was great, very fast and the woman waiting on me was great, treating me like I was a super star food critic there to give them a michelin star, made sure I was never too close to finishing my drink and so fun to talk to. Thanks and keep being awesome.
Best location out of them all they have the best corn bread and the customer service is amazing my go to spot while in Oakland.
Great food, service and our waitress was very friendly and checked on us often.
The food was delicious. The pork ribs were tender and juicy. I don't eat everyone's mac and cheese... but theirs was really good. I would absolutely recommend and I would definitely go again.
Yummm! Great food, I got my bbq hot and it did not disappoint. I could not eat a vat of the green beans, although everything was delicious. The gals who took care of me were lovely. They were kind, timely and made me want to come back immediately. While I’m visiting, I come to Oakland often, and for long periods of time. Can’t wait to come back and tell everyone I meet to come her too. Wow!
This is a meat-lovers Haven! Vegans stay away. The portions are large so best to eat the meals here family-style. Came here on a Sunday but suspect any day here after work or over the weekend is fun. Large screens everywhere and the noise is not soo loud. Venue seems outdated but no one cares since the food is very tasty!
I travel to Oakland, CA a few times a year. When I visit, I like to try out the local cuisine. The local spots are always very accommodating, friendly and since they have a lot of competition the restaurants have to be very good at their trade. This time I stopped by Everett & Jones Barbeque on Broadway. What a delight! Staff was friendly and attentive. I saw pictures of former president Obama on the wall, so I know the barbeque had to be top notch. I ordered the beef brisket. The meat was tender and smoked to perfection. The lunch special was great. The brisket comes with potato salad and wheat bread. I also ordered a side of Macaroni and Cheese. All in, $24.00 This location is near Jack London Square - a touristy area, so the offer jazz shows in the evenings on weekends. Full bar too. Interior ambiance is airy and pleasant. This location is in a renovated loft/warehouse building. Close to a marina and Lake Merritt.
I got the links lunch meal and a side of candied yams and a red velvet cake I'm going to say this is the best food I've had in a long time fresh hella good BBQ . Candy yams the most tasty yams I've had I can't think of any better yams and the beef links are amazing don't miss out if you're ever in the area go get some Everett and Jones you will not be disappointed
I had the three meat platter. Everything was simply immaculate! The custom barbecue sauce was absolutely delicious! Mac and cheese, greens, and the delicious baked beans rounded out the meal
Everett & Jones Barbeque on Broadway Street in Oakland near Jack London Square is the truth. The restaurant was tastefully decorated for black history month with key colors and signs at each table, giving an authentic southern cuisine ambiance. Today, during black history month I ordered the 3-way combo with links, chicken, ribs, potato salad, greens, mac & cheese, and cornbread. To drink, I chose the Izze sparkling blackberry water. As usual, everything paired well together for a great tasting, well seasoned meal. The homemade sauce is tangy but not too sweet. There was so much food left over that the to-go box was overflowing and hard to close. The wait staff was friendly and checked back frequently. There is metered street parking available or a paid parking lot a few blocks away. Centrually located on the corner, they have colorful signs that make it easy to spot. The bathrooms were odor free, clean, and well stocked. Will most definitely be back. Highly recommend.
Man this place hit all the right spots! 1. Our waitress made our whole group feel at home and was outstanding. Best customer service I have had in a long time. 2. Everything I tried I liked. I don't like potato salads but I sure like the one I had here. The food looked so good I forgot to take a picture. 🤣 3. The value of the lunch was great. I'm excited to have leftovers.
Short wait, a bit understaffed since there were plenty of seats, but our server was very friendly. The combo platter was great - saucy, and portion was big. We loved the chicken (well spiced, not dry) and pork ribs had a good smokey flavor. Sausage was a bit too salty but still gooey. Not TX bbq, but pretty good quality for the bay. Cocktails were average, a bit too watery/artificial... not as fresh as we hoped. Came with two sides - warm corn bread and sweet-ish baked beans.
Came here for the first time. Portion sizes were a pleasant surprise for the price. Ribs, brisket, sausage, cornbread, collard greens, yams and arnold palmer were all great. They have mild, med, and hot sauce options. Hot was loaded with pepper flakes, and while I enjoy spice, Id go with the medium next time. The meat was drenched with sauce. Im grateful that they didnt skimp but less would still be enough. The sausage didnt have the usual hard outer casing and it also wasnt greasy. Really nice flavor. I dont usually eat cornbread but I was actually upset that my friend took the last one. I expected the collard greens to be loaded with pork but it wasn't; it wasnt overcooked or drenched in juice either. The yams reminded me of the holidays with the cinnamon or nutmeg in it. Didnt expect the flavor but did enjoy them.
Used their catering services. They were prompt, everything was hot and well packaged. Such an abundance of the best BBQ in the Bay Area. So excited to learn they are opening a place in SF.
Really enjoyed the meal. Good BBQ is rare in the City; it's often whitewashed and not for me. Bonus points for being black-owned. Glad my partner suggested this place. It was rainy, so it was not busy. There was only one other table and some people at the bar. Cozy spot with smooth R&B and a few TVs that aren't hella distracting. Our server, who also hosted, was great--knowledgeable and attentive, even after the bill was paid. We waited less than a minute at the host stand before being seated at a lovely table by the window. Note to future guests: look for the host stand; don't expect a sign. Be patient, someone will seat you. I'm a host and can't stand self-seaters. We chose the combo plate with mac and cheese and collard greens. Food and drinks arrived quickly. The lemonade was fresh, unlike the watery one I had elsewhere. My eyes were bigger than my stomach because the portions were large enough for leftovers. The mac and cheese was perfectly cheesy. Cornbread was fluffy and warm. The greens could have had less pepper and more salt, but they were tasty. Ribs were my favorite, juicy and tender. Links and brisket were also good. Highly recommend if you're looking for casual, no-frills BBQ.
We were attending a concert in the area and decided to stop by before. We had a party of 9 and the team was more than willing to accommodate us. The food was amazing and the staff was friendly. Our server was attentive and made sure that everyone's order was accurate. Cant wait to go back!
I used to go to Everett & Jones almost daily, their food taste like momz in the back cooking it herself, it's the bomb, when that barbecue is on your finger tips; you already know there will be no paper towels getting that off your fingers, no no; 9 times out of 10 your going to nonchalantly lick those fingers. And I didn't even mention the desert, pecan pie, cheesecake, sweet potato pie, yeah they're doing it like that.. yep yep ladies and gents; oh I forgot to tell y'all about those callit greens. I know I did not spell it right, but I also know those colic greens are delicious. You don't hear me though. Gotta go, getting hungry ✌🏾
I had a wonderful experience eating at a Black Owned Restaurant. I from out of town visiting my Mom that lives in Oakland. Hubby, Mom & myself enjoyed the Scrumptious food. I didn't get our servers name..but she was Very Pleasant & Kind. Feels Great to give to my old stomping grounds to where I was raised. May God Continually Bless this restuarant, the people that work here & the people that come and partake in a meal here.
Food was outstanding!! We had a party of six and everyone loved their lunch. Food was on point. The service on the other, not great. Ordered sweet tea and got regular tea. Waiter never came back to check on us, fill our drinks up or ask about dessert. Service needed to be better but the food always perfect!
We had such a great experience at this restaurant! Our server, Tatiana, was absolutely amazing friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. She checked in at just the right times without being intrusive and really made us feel welcome. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was comfortable, and the service truly elevated the whole dining experience. Highly recommend, and we’ll definitely be coming back!

I would go to Southern Cafe if the location n sauce werent so great Bomb brisket and portions✔️ Good prices ✔️ Live music ✔️ Bland sides ❎ Their dry, butter wanting, candied yams and Bland collard greens make them a pass if you are from the South. But for Oakland the joint is great and the location is perfect. I've been 3 times now and each time have been disappointed every side I have tried. Including the cornbread mac and cheese and potato salad.
I walked in to the restaurant and was ignored by the 2 individuals working on the counter chatting between them, they acknowledged me and kept talking for 2 minutes. ok fine. I come to get food not friends. To the food note: I ordered chicken, link, and brisket came with 2 sides I opted for potato salad and the slaw. Food was great. The brisket wasn't tender enough (a better marinate perhaps or a longer smoking process could help) but that's my only complaint.
I was disappointed today, I ordered the rib and link combo. 1st the sauce was watery 2nd the greens was salty and the potato salad is different. Plus while waiting for my food I seen the Latino guy cutting up the ribs and putting scraps in his mouth, What's going on Everett and Jones Barbeque, I won't be back.
This was sadly a subpar experience and I am being generous in my overall 4 stars bc I am rooting for everybody Black! We walked in 10 mins after opening and it was moderately busy, but the atmosphere was chaotic enough to feel like it was extremely busy. We were seated and given sticky menus. I tried to order two different beers from their menu and they didnt have them. I tried to order a San Pellegrino from their menu and the waitress offered Aquafina instead bc they didnt have that either. At that point I was scared to even ask for water, which we did have to ask for bc no one brought us glasses or a pitcher when seated. We had like 4 different waitresses. My friend ordered brisket which looked old and was so tough it was hard to pick up with our forks. Everything else we ordered was good and despite things being out of stock and feeling shuffled around everyone we interacted with was friendly!
A go-to place in the Jack London Square area. Great service. The food is traditional BBQ with sides. Good place to take visitors or for a special night out. It's an awful place if you are watching your weight. Parking in the area can be a challenge. Prices are more than a normal restaurant, but the food lives up to it. Look out for extras, such as asking for some spicy sauce on the side of a shared meal, expect to pay another dollar for extra. Usually crowded. You may want to do an early lunch or mid afternoon dinner. Acoustics are poor and it is always medium loud at a minimum. The service is friendly and well intentioned but often young and unskilled. The result is inconsistent but welcoming. This is very much a friends and family spot, good for a Warriors or other game. Look for the photos of famous folk in the hallway between the bar and the banquet room.
Very good food! Started out bad. Sat at the table for 10 minutes before anyone came to take our order. The waitress that came was great! She never let our drinks run out. There is a constant banging sound that came from the kitchen that was super annoying, other than that the restaurant is very nice. We ordered the dinner for two that had four meats...this meal is big enough for three. We took and entire to-go box home with us and we were both super full. The Ribs were the best by far and the brisket was a close second for me. The macaroni and cheese was by far my favorite thing ...I think... I loved the corn bread too. The ranch beans are different ..not bad...just different. Parking was tricky to find near the restaurant. We had to walk a ways to get there.
This place does it right. Our visit started off great with a super friendly hostess who greeted us warmly. Place was a little empty for lunch but the food and service were on point. Will certainly be back for some more finger licking bbq. I had the bbq links lunch, came with potato salad, and wheat bread for around $16 and I added the baked beans. I got the medium heat bbq sauce and it was perfect. The links were flavorful and cooked just right. Wheat bread was great to sop up the extra sauce and the beans were packed with flavor. I was not a fan of the potato salad, but this might just be a taste preference - it was too sweet for me. Can’t wait till I’m in this area again to try the ribs. Keep it up Everett & Jones - I see you.
Being from Texas, I was not impressed with the ribs, sausage and especially the BBQ sauce. Potato salad had NO flavor, BBQ Sauce much too sweet. Instead of ribs, I received 6 pieces of rib tips that were mostly fat. The sweet potatoes and lemonade were the best part of the experience.
Delicious food, good beer selection, and friendly, attentive servers. Try the ribs and brisket. Mac and cheese was good, and so were the greens. The sweet potatoes were the business. Def try those. Cornbread was tasty too. TVs everywhere, so no matter where you sit you can watch the dubs play. Tiffany was a sweetheart. Very attentive and friendly.
We were on our way to another restaurant when we passed Everett & Jones and noticed the well lit decorative restaurant on the corner. I ordered brisket and chicken combo with the sides collards and yams. The proteins were ordered dry (bbq sauce on the side). My partner ordered the brisket, ribs, and link dry, too, with the same sides. Both orders came with cornbread. The brisket was tough and slightly chewy.if I wasn't so hungry, i would have been really disappointed. As I mentioned to the staff, if it was all sliced against the grain, it would have helped. The chicken, 1/4 leg and thigh, on the other hand, was perfect tender and tasty. The bbq sauces were good. The medium was spicy enough for us to know there was spice without making it uncomfortable. The mild was not too sweet. My partners ribs were good, not great. They were cooked so that the meat didn't fall off the bone but had a slight bite. The link was dry and may have been better doused in bbq sauce. The collards are savory and could use a little spice. The yams stole the show. They were cooked perfectly, slightly mushy and perfectly seasoned with cinnamon and nutmeg. The mac and cheese was well seasoned but almost to salty. The cornbread was the bomb! More cupcakeish than traditional, but not that is not identifiable. It has enough cornmeal to remind us what it was. Service was really good but slightly slow. Since it was late night, 10:00, staff was not too busy, but it was awesome to see everyone that wasn't busy with guests cleaning EVERY inch of dining room. It gave me a level of trust that the kitchen was impeccable.Thankfully, the blues music from the room next door was enjoyable, and seeing the guests dressed to the nines was fun to watch. I don't know that I would rush back, but I may add this to my rotation of places to go
Really good BBQ. Service, well let's just say we almost got up and walked out, like the two tables near us. Food is 5 star, but service is 2 star. Owner was present, but she really should have helped out. There was no bartender so it took a while for us to get our drinks. Service issues aside, the food is really good and so are the drinks. I had the ribs and the sauce is on point! Wife had the brisket. Our sides included cole slaw, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. All very well made. This is a must stop for anyone visiting Jack London Square area. Popular, so be prepared to wait on weekends.
In an effort to support a blackowned business I made my way to Everett & Jones BBQ. When I entered the restaurant, it was crowded but the staff was attentive, which was a good sign to me. It had an old fashioned/country flare to me that made it inviting. I patiently asked the hostess if I could dine outside because it was very hot indoors and I saw that she was overheated as well. She quickly cleaned the table outside for me instead of waiting for a bus person which was nice and I was able to eat my food outside and enjoy the playlist of black artists singing. I ordered the Chicken & Brisket combo with medium sauce, Yams & Macaroni & Cheese. A cornbread muffin was included and my choice of beverage was the lemonade. Pros: The Yams were beyond good, the sauce wasn't too spicy, lemonade and the meat was good but I would've like it to be more tender. Con: I ordered a slice of Sock it to Me cake and I did not like it all all. I honestly was expecting something way better than what I received. Although the cake was moist, that's honestly the only good thing I can say about it. It had no taste to it and for $7, I feel it was a waste of my money. Overall, I'm glad I made a visit to Everett & Jones, I'll be back again and I'm already recommending it to friends and family.
I just tried Everett & Jones BBQ in Oakland, California, and I had their sweet potato pecan pie — and baby, it was delicious. What really surprised me was that it wasn’t overly sweet at all. It had the perfect balance, with that sweet potato flavor and crunchy pecans coming together so nicely. If you love sweet potatoes, pecans, and a little crunchy yumminess… this pie is for you. Definitely check out my full review on YouTube, Taste & Tease with Tonie. Like, share, subscribe, and leave a comment down below to let me know what you think. Thanks so much for watching — I truly appreciate the support. And yes… I highly recommend the sweet potato pecan pie. 😋✨
Ordered the ribs and brisket combo. The brisket looked/seemed like a different cut of meat but it was tender. Would've liked more smoke flavor in the meat. The ribs were good. They drenched it with a little too much sauce but it had a good flavor. The sides were good; had baked beans, potato salad, and mac n cheese. The corn bread was tasty.
Been about 3 and a half years since I've been here. Menu changed and prices went up but never disappointed with this venue. Nice atmosphere when you walk in. Wait staff was professional and nice. Food came all at once and in a very timely manner. For some it might be a little pricy but for me well worth the dollars spent. The ribs and sausage links earned a PHD. (Piled Higher and Deeper 😁😁😁) Completely satisfied with this venue and will be coming back when I return...
The meats were tender, but I am not a big fan of the BBQ sauce. It is sweet which is an abomination with meat. I asked for the spiciest sauce possible, but it still was not spicy enough. And sweet. I wish they would have an option of no sauce, just meat, and a bottle of Sriracha or something like that.

The ambiance at Everette & Jones Barbeque was nice and in a great location. The waiter was adequate but closer to the side of providing poor service. My friend and I had lunch together and we spent the last 15 minutes of our meal wishing we had a refill on our drinks. The menus were tattered and in need of replacement. The food was good and priced well, but it was not anything I would encourage others to try. To be fair, I had a barbecued chicken salad and did not taste any of their other meats which I have heard are good.
We had a nice family dinner. ... We are actually sports people. ... but I think these belong to a famous sport perons. ... The food was very comforting. ... the side dishes was good. ... i like the corn bread. .... the bbq was great. ... Ambiance is okay. ... not particularly my taste and table is a bit. ... The service was good. ... friendly and fast. ... There is also a lot of people. ... but no waiting. ... they just usually come and go. ... take out. ... We alas an interesting dinner. ...
The place looked busy so we walked in. After waiting a few minutes, we were seated. The service was below standard. We were asked by 3 or 4 people if we were ready to order (soon after being seated). After this we were forgotten. A table seated after us were given place settings and drinks whilst we sat around waiting for ours. I ordered a gin and tonic but was served gin with soda water which was yuck. The food was tasty but we were forgotten again after we were served our food. It took ages to try to get the attention of a waitress so we ended up walking up to the till to pay because we were ignored. This place is obviously popular with the locals and would be much better with some structured service or allocated areas to prevent people from being ignored. I really enjoyed the corn bread - it was the best I've tasted.
Food inside was fine I ordered rib dinner to go and it was completely different
We had a take out order for two rib dinners. The green beans are very mushy and salty. The ribs, part tender and mostly overcooked. They are also simmered in a very salty sauce as well. After dinner, I still feel my palette is saturated with salt. I’d suggest not to overcook beans and ribs, and use much less salt for better results. The service was expeditious and friendly.
Had heard about this restaurant on the news and since my wife is crazy about barbecue I decided to give it a try. I am breaking down my experience: Facility: It is located in an corner of an old commercial block where your options for parking are either on the street (good luck on that. There are other bars and restaurants in the area so spaces are few and far between) or some parking garage. The inside of the restaurant is kind of retro looking but very spacious. Detail: Ambient sound was way too loud. I to speak my to-go order about 4 times for the employee to understand it. Staff: My initial interaction was with the employee at the To-go window who had difficulty to understand why questions about the size of the options on their menu and I initially felt it was an odd fluke but minutes later when I approached the counter to get my order I repeated the same question to other 3 employees and none of them had a good solid answer to the question. So it is either lack of training or disregard for what they were thought. Also I came in at the end of the afternoon and there were that many customers and what I noticed was that employees were spending more time talking to each other than carrying out their business. I worked in the restaurant industry for long time and know exactly what I am looking at. Food: Not impressed. I ordered a combination of meat (brisket and chicken) menu option #6) and it's size, even with 2 side orders, in my opinion, is not enough to satisfy an adult. I shared my order with my wife (if you read my review of Horn Barbecue knows she is a serious carnivorous and has been working in the restaurant business for over 22 years) and she was not impressed either. If she wants barbecue I will stick to the previous barbecue restaurant. Final thought: if you live nearby and are craving for a barbecue and do not want to be on a line for about an hour (Horn) give them a try. I gave them 3 stars but they have the potential for more than that if they can work on the opportunities, that is how I see the matters listed, and keep the improvements in a consistent manner going forward.
Customer service was good but the food wasn't the best. We ordered two lunch meals, and the chicken lunch looked like a kids meal with a very small leg and thigh. My boyfriend ordered a rib lunch and his came with 5 ribs. Makes no sense portion wise. Too much sauce and it was a bit gummy. The potato was way too tart and the bread was dry and tasted old. The dessert was good.
They have the best barbecue sauce in town. The macaroni and cheese was a little dry, but this is the best location if you choosing Everett & Jones, don’t go to the one in Berkeley. Broadway is much better and professional
The red velvet cake tastes like a white or yellow cake with red dye in it. Red velvet cake is supposed to be a chocolate cake with red dye or natural colors like hibiscus or rose powder for the deep red color. All I can taste is chemical red dye in there cake and I couldn't finish it. So red velvet cake lovers, beware. Other then that eventing else is good and I enjoy eating there dining in and taking out
waited 45minutes after being told it would be 10 minutes from the time meal ordered. Several people entered without receiving their orders . None of the workers check each other .\nDisappointed. Wo…
The food was okay, but I would have preferred the sauce to be in a separate container and not poured over the meat. Pouring the sauce made the meat boxes messy, and most of the sauce ended up …
MUST READ before buy food. Burnt links dry. Dry food barely meat on ribs. And sides were insanely small.
I have mixed reviews of this place. Because I've lived in the south for 19yrs... it's hard for me to say this bbq is great. I've definitely had better. However, we found the smoked sausage and baby back ribs to be pretty good. They are not stingy with the sauce... not sure if that's good or bad. Their sweet potatoes were the star of the plate for me. They were delicious. The cornbread I found to be a bit strange, more bread-like than it was corn bread and they didn't give you butter that would melt in it. The baked beans were just ok but when your food is already smothered in bbq, you really don't want your beans to taste the same. Now for the service, I really would give it a 1.5. The hostess was nice and even a server other than our own. We had a girl serving us that was obviously having a bad day. I tried being super nice and polite but she never smiled or anything. She basically threw our food down in front of us and never checked to see if we needed anything...we had to bother other employees. Then, at the end of dinner, when she was clearing the table, before we got up, she dropped the silverware and stuff in my husband's lap, turned and just walked away. No I'm sorry...no let me get you a wet napkin...nothing... he had bbq stains all over his expensive pants. For that reason, I will not recommend or return to this place.
First time I have been there and the last time. I was very disappointed. I have heard so much about this place. The waitress wasn't that friendly but seems like she was trying to be nicer at the middle part. Overall the atmosphere was not bad. I just didn't think the links, chicken wasn't tasty. The macaroni and cheese was ok.....
Lol i’d love to like this place but the last THREE times they allow this dude to just play music on his bike the whole night. it’s not even good. its like he clicks “bike playlist” on spotify, so theyre not even bangers. just super loud for 4+ hours. not a good sunday hang spot because of this dude on his motorcycle and his trash SUPERloud music
I was received with smiles and a friendly welcome. Unfortunately it did not last and I was left feeling treated as if I spat on the floor or something. I was craving mac&cheese and I chose to ignore the 4.1 rating (I usually eat at 4.5 and up) because the mac & cheese looked really good. I ordered brisket and ribs, mac & cheese, Yams and a cornbread muffin. Everything came out quickly and I was excited to eat. Right away I noticed the mac & cheese looked matte. Like how it looks after it's been in the fridge all night, so in other words, cold. I started with the brisket and I was disappointed. It was quite dry. It reminded me of Arby's, which I had once like 25 years ago. So, I moved on to the ribs. The ribs were tender and the sauce was nice. Then I tried the mac. It indeed was cold. I could eat it, but I could taste the flavor and I liked it. I tried the Yams, they were also cold. Now I'm upset why would you bring me cold food? So I decided to try the cornbread with another piece of brisket, but if was very very cold. The coldest of all the sides. Well, there goes that. The waitress came to check on me and asked how everything was. I smiled and replied that I liked the ribs, they were tender, the brisket was a bit dry, the mac & cheese and Yams have good flavor, but they were cold, so I couldn't eat them and the cornbread was also cold. Her expression was upset and irritated. Mind you, I was smiling and complementing the things I liked and I wasn't rude or snooty or anything, because I don't believe in being rude. Well, she does. She apologized and brought me new "hot" sides, but never came back. I waited 30 minutes before finally getting up to go and pay. She attended all the tables next to me, but ignored me, didn't bring me my check and although she was at the register next to where I was checking out, she kept her head down and wouldn't make eye contact with me at all, and yes I still left a tip because, again, I am not a rude person. As for the "hot" sides. Well, it was very obvious they were nuked in a microwave. The cornbread was hard, very hard. The mac & cheese had some over nuked parts that's weren't edible and the Yams, well they just didn't taste that great after all. Oh, I almost forgot, I had ordered peach cooler, I never got it. I guess the waitress didn't want to interact with me after I shared the brisket was dry and the sides were cold, so she never brought it to me. I did NOT take a to-go box for my leftovers. Oh well, at least the ribs were decent and the mac, once nuked was decent too. 6.5/10
Came in on lovers day.. Valentine’s… Food was under cooked, ribs were straight up pink , there was more fat than meat on the ribs 😩 and the chicken was so tasteless I was shocked I mean no taste at all . I did enjoy the Mac n cheese and collards greens. On top of it, our cornbread was left out of the order 😤and the lady taking our order said it came with the order 😡 - we were about to order a side of them. I was totally disappointed with this place and I doubt if I’ll return! Chocolate cake was nasty. O yea we, paid almost $70 for this mess
Service excellent. Ribs chewy with a lot of fat. Collards greens mushy, Potato salad not good. Macaroni and cheese 🧀 good. Carmel cake was ok too. I Ended up throwing everything else away. I am from Atlanta been trying to find a good spot. But this was not it food wise. Atmosphere great and the employees wonderful.
Ordered the brisket plate and it was definitely NOT brisket. They sent me very thinnly slices of very dry meat. Seemed to be tri-tip or something else. The price was high and I was so sorely disapp…

Every time I eat at this place, it’s a surprise, whether I dine in or get takeout. I’ve dined here a few times, and once it took two hours for the bartender to pour a shot of Hennessy—maybe they had to go buy it! Still, I kept coming back. The ribs on the 4th of July were dry as jerky, the greens were bland, and the mac and cheese was cheesy but lacked character. Their BBQ sauce is good, I’ll give them that, but the quality has gone downhill. The staff seems to lack customer service pride and care for their jobs. The original owners put their soul into this place, but when they stopped cooking and passed the torch, the new crew started putting everything but soul into the food. I love supporting Black businesses, but I’m done spending my money just because they’re Black-owned. Black businesses, if you’re lacking, I’m calling you out to bring your A-game.
This is some really bad barbecue. I should’ve paid closer attention to the pictures beforehand, because if I had, I would’ve noticed that all they do here is drown the meat in barbecue sauce. Personally, I like to actually taste the meat itself; the smokiness, the seasoning, the craft that should go into barbecue. So I ordered a mix plate and told the waiter I didn’t want barbecue sauce, just a dry rub. His response, “You’re going to need it with barbecue sauce because that’s where all of our flavor comes from.” That should’ve been my first red flag. Sure enough, when my food arrived, I took a bite of the ribs and brisket, and it was exactly as I feared: absolutely no seasoning. How does a barbecue place not season their meat before smoking it and instead rely on ladling raw barbecue sauce afterward? This place is trash. If you like your meat completely smothered in sauce with zero attention to the actual barbecue process, maybe this is your spot. But if you care about flavor, smokiness, or properly prepared meat, don’t waste your time.
The food is trash.... Definitely NOT worth the price!! The next time I wanna waste my money, I'll throw my money into the Bay before I waste it buying food from Everett & Jones 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
My friend ordered an N/A beer and they served him an ALCOHOLIC BEER. Which, in this brand, looks nearly identical in label and color to the N/A beer. This is the first taste of alcohol he has had in 5 years. When he told the waitress the mistake, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the severity of what they’d done and the damaged it caused.
I am writing this after giving this establishment multiple chances to correct an ongoing issue. Yesterday, I placed two separate orders, one mild and one medium, on two separate tabs specifically because this location has incorrectly prepared my sauce order five times before. Despite taking extra precautions to prevent confusion, both meals were prepared with medium sauce again. When I arrived at my destination and tasted the “mild” order, it was clearly medium and too spicy for me to eat. I had to drive back to the restaurant to address the mistake. The replacement portion was noticeably smaller than my original order, which raised additional concerns about consistency and quality control. I called and spoke with Henry, who apologized but stated I would need to return again in order to receive a refund or correction, even though I had already made multiple trips due to the restaurant’s error. This is not an acceptable resolution when the mistake originated in the kitchen. When I returned and attempted to speak with the owner, Darcey, I was met with dismissive behavior. She put her hand up to stop me mid-sentence and asked, “You want your money back, right?” There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the repeated pattern of mistakes, and no interest in hearing customer feedback. The only solution offered was a refund, not accountability, not corrective action, not even a conversation. The refund itself was handled in a way that contradicted what I was told on the phone. I was instructed I had to return for it, yet my card was not required to process it. Meanwhile, my time, gas, and the opportunity to make other meal arrangements were all wasted because of repeated negligence. This is not about one incorrect sauce. This is about a pattern of carelessness and a refusal to listen when customers bring legitimate concerns forward. Businesses that value their community take feedback seriously, especially when the same issue has occurred multiple times. As an Oakland native who continues to support Oakland businesses, I expect professionalism, respect, and basic operational consistency. Dismissing customer concerns and showing visible frustration when confronted does not reflect well on ownership or management. If this establishment wants the community’s continued support, it must prioritize quality control and customer service. Accountability is not optional in business, it is the foundation of it. I hope this feedback leads to real change. Until then, customers should be aware of the inconsistency and the level of service they may encounter.
I hate to leave such a low rating for the food, but it was not seasoned well if at all and undercooked. I ordered ribs with potato salad, mac and cheese, and cornbread. The risks were drenched in sauce that dropped off of the ribs. My friend ordered the brisket which had the same consistancy. I'm from the south so maybe we just do it a little different. On a good note out waitress was great and the atmosphere was pretty nice.
