Opinions de Yoshi's Oakland Oakland
This is easily my favorite music venue in the Bay without a doubt. My wife and I used to live in Oakland and could walk here. And we would go once a month at least. First of all, the food is phenomenal. Most live music venues are not known for their food. But the sushi, ambiance and service from this restaurant are top notch. If you make a reservation for food before the concert, you often get priority seating too. The music venue is in a separate room inside the restaurant. Once you enter the music venue, it is small and close knit. There are no bad seats in the house. Bartenders will serve you drinks and food during concerts as well so you never have to leave your seat. I was shocked at the list of artists that come into this place. Artists that can probably fill up stadiums and arenas perform here. Depending on the artists, it can turn into a party. I’ve seen the audience get up and dance in their seats on plenty of occasions. And the ticket prices are decent. This place is a must try! It’s easily what we miss the most from Oakland.
Great place to hear live music. The service was to slow for a busy night. We ordered a bottle before the show. We didn't get our wine until 30 mins towards the end of the show. We had to finish our bottle in the lobby.
Both the soy-garlic edamame and Japanose roll were so deelish. Show afterwards was fabulous. Love Me. Walter Trout!
We attended Tower of Power Back to Oakland residency - the band was off the chart amazing! Venue is intimate and service was great considering how busy it was that night. I personally loved seeing the train go by our window as we were dining because of my family history in Oakland. It’s a nostalgic sound to me and not loud at all. Food is I would say better than expected not a 5 star restaurant but we did not expect that. They make a great martini! And the music venue is really enjoyable we had a table right near the stage. I would say get premium tickets and eat at restaurant to ensure great seats and service we had no issues whatsoever.
Yoshi's is a standout when it comes to authentic Japanese cuisine. From the moment you enter, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The decor is sleek yet cozy, offering the perfect environment for both casual meals and special celebrations. The menu at Yoshi’s is packed with options, but the sushi is what truly shines. The fish is always incredibly fresh, and each piece is prepared with attention to detail. Whether you're enjoying a classic California roll or a more adventurous specialty roll, you can taste the quality in every bite. For sashimi lovers, the selection is extensive and always perfectly sliced. Aside from sushi, Yoshi's also offers a variety of other Japanese dishes, like ramen and teriyaki, that are equally impressive. The service is top-notch—attentive but never overbearing, and the staff is knowledgeable about the menu, always ready to offer recommendations. If you're a fan of Japanese food, Yoshi's should definitely be on your radar. The combination of amazing food, great atmosphere, and excellent service makes it a must-visit spot. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or new to Japanese cuisine, you’ll leave Yoshi’s feeling satisfied and eager to return!
Ive only been twice and both times were with a large friend’s group for dinner and a show. The overall experience both times is one we talk about for months after. Food, service, atmosphere, all made superb by our server Shar! It’s more than a sushi spot as they have something for everyone. Nobody makes drinks faster than these guys. They will absolutely take care of you and make sure your group has the perfect experience.
So this place was above my expectations. Seating was timely, the atmosphere was very romantic. Although it was very busy, our server Jorge was always on point. My water glass was never empty, my wine glass was never empty and when I could not decide what I wanted Jorge recommended the pork chop. I was NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! It was cooked to 👌🏾 perfection!😍. My friend got the salmon and she also states it was flavorful and cooked well. I was so pleased with the service I wanted to speak to the manager and he (Nick) was out on the floor being great!!!. I swear if you have not been here for any reason, you're missing out. Just be sure to validate your parking before you leave.
Five Stars – A Truly Unique Experience at Yoshi’s! Yoshi’s is more than just a restaurant — it’s an experience. Located in Oakland (with roots connected to San Francisco), this spot blends world-class cuisine with an intimate live music venue, creating a truly unique and memorable night out. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm, friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere that immediately set the tone for a great evening. For starters, I highly recommend the Kobe beef skewers — perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender, they’re an absolute must-have to kick off your meal. For the main course, I ordered the Togarashi Kurobuta Pork Chop, served with Okinawa sweet potato purée, roasted apples, and a caramelized apple veal-jus. This dish was exceptional — the pork was juicy and flavorful, and the sweet elements from the purée and apples paired beautifully with the spice from the togarashi. It was a perfect balance of savory and sweet. To end the meal, the Yuzu Crème Brûlée was the perfect choice. Light, citrusy, and silky-smooth with the classic crisp sugar top — it was a refreshing and elegant finish. With incredible food, top-tier service, and the added bonus of live music in a cozy, stylish setting, Yoshi’s offers something special you won’t find elsewhere. I’ll definitely be back — this place is a gem.
It took me 10 yrs to come back to Yoshi's and I love the new layout of their restaurant, great availability of seats, wonderful served, the plates look succulent and they were rich, the meat bland according to me, soft but bland, maybe other folx would like that, I need my seasoned meat, or Argentinean flavor. Their appetizers were delish, the duck confit was a bit greasy but is expected due to its own oil, the beef skewers were much more flavorful and juicy than the rib eye that we got from the family platter, yes is food to share but the quality changed. The concert was amazing and I enjoyed myself so much, I came back for a second set and ordered my hot green tea, but they don't have any so I was given Jazmine tea, still super nice environment, it was a chill night and it was almost packed with nothing but good and vibrant energies. Yoshi s still got that Jazz! Yesss!
What an absolutely fabulous venue. I've been to Yoshi's a few times and I have never been disappointed. Miranda made my wife's special night very special. Other exceptional staff members. Jay, our bartender, Chris, our restaurant waiter and Kiah in the klurrb provided us with excellent service. For dinner, the standouts were the Spicy Tuna tartar appetizer. And the Creme Brulee
We had dinner and then attended a performance by Eric Roberson at the same venue. The dinner was fantastic as we explored the menu and ordered a variety of healthy dishes. Every bite felt like it was prepared with care and attention to detail. Our team of waiters ensured that our drinks were constantly topped off while delivering each part of the meal promptly. Just like our previous visits, Yoshi's always provides a top-notch experience.

Went here for a concert. The restaurant isn't in the most pleasing area but the restaurant itself feels disconnected from the outside. The area where concerts are held was very well taken care of and had plenty space. We tried some of their chocolate and green tea beignets while there and were amazing! Would go again.
Overall, nice place! Very fast service and nice ambiance. Seating is pretty close together though. There were a lot of items on the menu I wanted to try. We meant to go to the jazz show after dinner but my boyfriend accidentally ate crab (his fault! He didnt read the menu right.) so we had to run around town seeking Benadryl. The food was good, but I wasn’t obsessed. The veggie roll was very thick with rice and the ginger was surprisingly very very mild. The mushrooms were good but unseasoned so the entire dish was a bit bland unfortunately. The tempura avocado + tofu was very flavorful and good. I would serve the sauce in a separate bowl as the tempura got very soggy very quickly and mushed into a paste. The sprouts were good and the rest of the sushi was beautifully plated. My boyfriend loved his sushi! He especially liked the Cali rolls (which he confirmed DOES use real crab - oops!) I’d come back to try other menu items and hopefully actually see the jazz! I stocked my bag with Benadryl so I’ll be prepared ;)

Disappointed. We had two items off of the appetizer menu, three bland sushi rolls and an order of salmon nigiri. The duck spring roll was the only winner of the evening.

Food was very mid. I got recommendation from a friend saying the place has good atmosphere and food. The atmosphere part was true, but not the food part: if you like “white people sushi”, then this place is for you. But if you know what authentic Japanese sushi culture looks like, pls don’t come. They don’t even know how to make proper nigiri and maki(sushi roll). The roll came in looking like it was rolled over by a car. I watched the sushi chef making them and they don’t seem like they know their job well. Please train them properly.

Pathetic attempt at a spider roll. Manager swears that this is what they sell as their spider roll. second time in my life I've sent food back. Buyer beware. The sushi chefs are frauds.

Another unsatisfactory experience at Yoshis Restaurant before a show. I attend an avg of 2 shows per month at Yoshis. Often times more. Normally we have dinner at the restaurant before the show. We like to allow enough time for us to dine and socialize. Our Bill is NEVER LESS THAN $200 for 2 people. More than that if it’s 4-8 of us. 12-20 had 6:30 dinner reservations for 8 for the 9:30 last show of the night. We were told that we would have to vacate our table at 8:30 to make room for others. Note: the restaurant closes at 9! I told the host how service at Yoshis suck! I also asked our waitress was this 8:30 end time for us correct. She confirmed. I questioned who would be coming for a table at 8:30 for a show where the doors open at 9. She shrugged & said she doesn’t make the rules. Shortly after the Mgr Nic comes over & ask what the problem is. I tell him my concern & disappointment as a frequent guest at Yoshis. His initial approach with his body language was as if he was going to intimidate a table of women since he was “buff” totally unnecessary & unprofessional. I did not ask either staff to send us the mgr. I did not yell or raise my voice but I did speak my mind! Because this is becoming a frequent issue of less than satisfactory service, & seeing the Mgr Nic approach to customer service, it confirms that it is time for us to stop patronizing the restaurant before the shows. I’d rather spend an extra few dollars on preferred seating in the music venue& dine elsewhere at different restaurants in the Jack London Square area. Then to have a challenging negative experience at the Yoshis restaurant & with a mgr like Nic in charge. Additionally Yoshis dinner prices are a bit high. The menu is what it is,not a huge variety, especially when like us you dine there often. We didn’t mind in the past because they used to have experienced staff and great ambiance. Since this is no longer the case, we will enjoy the musical guests, & spend our dinner dollars at a better well managed restaurant. We’ve also been told that service has changed because they have been losing money.. well with the decline in service, you can see why. If I had 4 thumbs, I’d give them 4 thumbs down. Here’s a photo of only a section of the restaurant at 8:15. There were a lot of other empty tables as well.. you will know who Nic the mgr is he walks around arrogantly with his Blond Male Bun, & his tight shirt to show his “ muscles “ horrible people skills
