Such a fantastic experience. 10/10! Could not recommend this spot enough. The service was quick and intentional and the food was simply amazing . Will be back (soon)!
Amazing pizza and incredible wine list. The tiramisù looked out of this world
Authentic Neapolitan pizza limp in the center and bubbly and burnt on the edge. Already crazy popular
Just a great all around experience. Can't wait to go back!
Their pizza is wonderful! Loved everything about the restaurant.
Delicious pizza near the plaza in Old Towne Orange. Thank you!
Excellent pizza, service and ambiance.
Best in Orange County.
Small place with great pizza and service.
I recently visited Pizzeria Irene and had such a great experience. I got to meet the owner, and he was super kind and welcoming. The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for sitting down, having a glass of wine, and enjoying some good pizza. The pizza was amazing, fresh, and flavorful, definitely the highlight of the night. They also have a really nice wine selection to choose from. Overall, it’s a great spot to relax and enjoy yourself. I’d definitely recommend it!
The best pizza in OC (OK, tied for first with Folks and Truly, but that’s some great company to be keeping pace with). The Caesar salad is as good as Taco Maria‘s, and a perfect complement to the pizzas. The service is great, very kind and helpful. If that wasn’t enough, the wine selection is better than any pizza place anywhere that I’ve found, closer to something you’d find in a upscale trattoria. PS: the housemade ice cream is a real treat, especially the coffee flavor. And the tiramisu is so good that I never once noticed if someone else got a bigger portion than me, I was so busy enjoying mine. Happy One Year Anniversary!
Best pizza my daughter and I have had. We ordered the Pepperoni and the Butternut Squash. Their crust is top-tier. My daughter said she is going to be dreaming of this pizza. The service was awesome and the pizzas came out fast. We will definitely be back when we come back to Cali. So delicious. Thank you for the amazing dinner!
Fluffy, perfectly charred, nice chew and just the right amount of saltiness. I ordered a Margherita pizza to go and ate it later that evening and it still tasted excellent. This is as close to authentic Italian pizza as it gets. My only gripe is they open at 5pm so it’s difficult to eat there more often. The restaurant is tiny and cozy so reservations are a must if you do go. I can’t wait to come back and try another pizza.
I went out to Pizzeria Irene for my Dad's birthday and the ambiance, food, and service were all amazing. My Dad and family were so happy to be there and we enjoyed every second of the experience. Needless to say we will be coming back over and over again. Also the wine on their menu is really good and it just pairs so nicely with the pizza and really everything on their menu. I can't say enough good things about Pizzeria Irene. You must check it out!
I love this place. Simple menu, amazing wine, and 10/10 pizza. The burratta board with garlic is also great. I come here often with friends. Reservations are very helpful.
Owner was our server. We were there mid afternoon right before closing so really quiet environment. Great customer service, so personable. The food was great, as was the atmosphere. I'll go back.
If you are looking for Neapolitan pizza in Orange, this is the place! Chewy and delicious (people who have complained in previous comments that the pizza was "floppy" clearly don't know anything about Italian pizza). The staff was great and we loved the music (50s - 60s vibe) + they have chairs for kids and we were able to sit our little one with us at the bar. Would definitely come back!
Pizza was the best I have had since locals pizza tour in Naples Italy, genuinely incredible how good it was. Atmosphere was a bit odd though- lights were pretty bright & they were playing 90s rock. Overall experience would be literally 10x better w/ darker lighting & more fitting music like jazz.
This place was amazing. The Charcuterie board we had was well thought out and very flavorful. The pizza was one of the most delicious and unique pizzas I have ever tired. The small cozy atmosphere was relaxing and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. We will definitely be back.
Wow, did the orange circle (and north OC in general) need this little spot! The food is so so good, and our service was great too. You can tell this spot is authentic, and I love their cutie pizza oven! It’s a tiny spot, but very cute, cozy and modern inside - nice to spot for date night, especially once they can serve wine. We arrived later than we’d hoped on a Saturday night, knowing it’d be a wait. We had a wait of about two hours - so just know that going into it! We bar hopped around the circle to kill time, and it was so worth the wait. Highly recommend the butternut squash burrata pizza (what my dreams are made of), the fungi pizza and the burrata appetizer. Can’t wait to come back soon!!
I had the pleasure of trying the Margherita pizza. Everything about it was wonderful, from the presentation of the whole pie to the flavors. The basil delivered a gentle kiss that accentuated the olive oil flavor, while the tomato and bread were rich and full, with a slight char of the signature wood-fired oven it was a joy to have.
As someone who moved here from New York and has been looking for his go-to Neapolitan style pizza spot, this is hands down the best Pizza I have ever had. I know this place will inevitably blow up and become difficult to get seating at from popularity. Will definitely be mine and my wives go to spot. Our hostess and server (Julian) were the cherry on top. If you are lucky to have him as your server, you’ll feel as welcomed as family. We got the Burrata, calabrese and butternut squash pizzas.
Quaint little place that has the best Caesar salad and pizza. Fantastic wine list as well!
This is it man, this place rules! Go here and order a pizza and tiramisu! You will not regret it!
Lovely little upscale pizzeria with highly attentive service and exceptional pizza and that bread from Santa Monica w Burrata….🤤
Cozy pizza restaurant with amazing food made from scratch and with quality ingredients. The pizza dough is the best I've ever had.
Very good food, with a wonderful service and a cool environment. I will absolutely come back. Price is ok. Only thing not a lot of wine when ordering a glass.
Best pizza I’ve had so far in Orange County. The Calabrian and the butternut squash were both excellent
Since we arrive the host was really helpful to get us seated since we didnt have a reservation. We appreciated the small menu with great looking options, ceasar salad was amazing!! All the pizza ingredients had great flavor and the atmosphere was friendly and fun. Plus, they have one of the most beautiful pizza ovens I have ever seen. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!
I’m in love with this place. Really intimate. The pizza oven and chefs are right in the room with you. The menu is short but packs a punch. This is the type of place where they specialize in something and do it well and create a really nice atmosphere in the process. We had the Caesar salad, which was excellent, and the Bianca pizza which was also wonderful. The roasted garlic and bacon on the Bianca pizza was exquisite, and the dough was exactly what you dream of when thinking of Naples style pizza.
So my partner and I just moved from Century City to Santa Ana, and we were trying so hard to find pizza that was comparable to Pizzeria Mozza in LA. We got lucky finding this gem. The quality is comparable to Mozza and sometimes better in certain areas. We always get the Cesar Salad (Gem lettuce, extremely generous with the amount of cheese they but on there and little fresh croutons with each bite). The Buratta, which taste amazing on its own, but you should opt in and get the Prosciutto on the side. I always get the Bianca (as I can't do red sauce) while my partner goes back and forth on their Pepperoni and Sausage pizza. Now like I said, it's comparable not exactly the same, but it is on par with Pizzeria Mozza and even Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix. And we always finish off with the Tiramisu. It's always freshly made and its a HUGE slice. My partner who hates coffee, loves their Tiramisu because you can only taste a hint of coffee, but how light and fluffy the cake is. Now the only downside to this place is that its a SMALL restaurant. You are seated close to other people. So if you're looking to have any conversations that you wouldn't want others to hear, I would not suggest this place (But if you're used to places like we are due to eating so much in LA, then you will fit right in). Also if you're looking to walk in past 7PM especially on a weekend, you can forget it, as their reservations are always booked out past 7. So I highly recommend getting reservations. I can ensure you though that the quality and service is always on point.
This is the best pizza around by far. Minimal choices but every single one is fabulous. Their meatballs are insane!! Best Caesar salad we’ve had and the tiramisu is top tier. I don’t leave reviews unless the food is excellent or really bad to save people This place is so good and the service is impeccable Great wine list !!
Incredible food! Caesar salad was great, almost citrus-y with the lemon, which I liked. My husband and I can't stop talking about their pizza and how amazing the bread was. This place was recommended by a friend to us and now we are the ones recommending to all! Definitely a must try!😁😍
Stopped in on an early Thursday night and sat at the bar in the small restaurant. Great wine selection and my wife and I enjoyed the service and the food. The Bread and barata appetiser was exceptional. We enjoyed a sausage pizza. The crust was soft and tasty, and the sauce and toppings were well matched with the pillowy crust.
Neat place
Soft opening weekend. Ordered the Fig Tapenade, Fungi pizza and Butternut Squash burrata pizza… all were delicious and well made. Service was good, excited to try their wines and beer next time. Tables were tight + close together (max 28 people inside), a lot of loud kitchen talk (hands please, table #, walking in, all day!) didn’t mind but wished the music volume to be higher to help offset random bursts from kitchen. Overall great quality of food, prices, and excited to have a legit pizza place in the Orange Circle!
We had the Ceasars Salad, green beans, and the pepperoni pizza with additional toppings, tiramisu. Food is excellent along with great service. Location is super small, it made me want to leave quick but we enjoyed it. We picked this place for our 10th year wedding anniversary celebration, is in our neighborhood, quiet and convenient. Parking is hectic unless you park in the structure and walk to it. Definitely is a take out choice for us. Price was good for the quality we got. Waiters were on point. They came to our table when they needed to come, not constantly interrupting.
My sister and I have been dying to try this place but like many others pointed out, they have very limited hours and their space is quite small so wait times can be really long. They don’t accept reservations so expect to wait or get there right at opening. We were lucky to get in for an early dinner on Sunday! We ordered the Caesar salad, margherita pizza, butternut squash pizza (seasonal), and a side of prosciutto for three people. If you’re starving, that’ll definitely be enough! You could probably get away with just once pizza if you’re not too hungry since portions are a nice size. We all agreed that the food was good, not great. Pizza got cold super fast and was floppy like others mentioned. I personally thought it lacked flavor as well. Caesar was yummy but nothing to write home about in my opinion. What I will say is the service here is 10/10! They’re super sweet and attentive especially the hostess. I think it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!
Is this the most authentic pizzeria in Southern California? No. Is it unnecessarily pretentious anyway? Oh yeah. While the food was not bad (the pizza crust at least was done quite well), the high prices, extremely limited menu, long wait times, and stuffy, tight atmosphere would keep me from ever considering making this a regular spot. Given how out-of-touch Orange has become in recent years (you can’t deny its old charm is long gone), this place will probably do just fine. However, if you value authenticity and bang for your buck, I would try considering other dining options.
This place is fine but it suffers from an identity crisis. They’re presenting as an Italian pizza restaurant but then you’re hit with a charcuterie board (French) for the newly developing yuppie class in Orange, and the only desert that is Mexican ice cream. They also don’t have their liquor license yet but are still brazen enough to charge a $20 de-corking fee. If you can’t serve alcohol and can’t sell it by the bottle to-go why would you charging anything more than $5-$10 just to cover the costs of clean up? You’re not protecting your own alcohol sales at this point in time. The pizza itself was good, they got the crust down but the toppings were fighting to stay on the crust. Maybe it’s early days issues but it’s already starting off to be just another establishment that wants to benefit from the Italian branding and provide a less than Italian dinning experience. It’s also not a “casual” meal. You’ve got a line down the street and only a few tables. You’re asked to wait 10-15 minutes for a table when half are kept empty. Maybe servers these days can’t handle 4-5 tables on their own? The menu is tiny and I can’t see a reason why any single server couldn’t handle all of the tables on their own tbh.
Man. Where do I start. We were soooo excited to try this place but it unfortunately was a complete disappointment. The pizza was lent cooked all the way, the recipe for their dough is bad, like really bad, the pizza was burnt but yet doughy in the middle, burrata appetizer was bland beyond belief, and overall experience was very poor. I figured waiting three months would make a difference but all this has led me to believe and feel this owner doesn’t know much about brick or wood burning pizza. Place is tiny and they rush you out. Suggestions: Get a new dough recipe. Lower the heat if possible within the wood burning oven. Rotate pizza constantly to make an even cook around. Be better pacing the food cook if someone has an app and salad. Get training on using a wood fire oven. Add salt to your burrata app. Cant say I’d even come back to this place. Very disappointed :(
We expected more... They have a nice selection of wines, though I don't know how a $400 bottle pairs with a slice of very avg. pizza. The limited menu didn't impress...the meatball was overly salted, the pizza soggy in the middle. The crust was flavorful but could have been cooked more. They offer dessert...but no coffee!? Service was good...the place has few tables and less atmosphere. A disappointment after we had heard good things about Irene. *Charcuterie was not on the menu at this time.
Food: Burrata, good but Toasted Bread = cold bread. Meatball, was large but 24 dollars is way to much. I have had better for cheaper at many locations. Caesar Salad was good. Pizza: Like others, our pizza was undercooked in the middle. It tasted better the next day after cooking it in the air fryer. That being said, again I have had better for cheaper elsewhere. Tiramisu, we saw this come out to another table and it looked good. We ordered one to go and it was about a 3rd in size to the one the other table got. It tasted good. Service: Everyone was nice, but some were slow. Was the second group in line but the last to order. the hostess was very nice and helpful Atmosphere: it looks nice inside, well done evertlything. The biggest problem is it's small, very small and sounds carry. It got very loud from time to time.
Disappointing experience at Pizzeria Irene’s.We arrived at 6 pm looking forward to dinner, only to find out that walk-ins weren't being accepted until 8:30 pm. It would be helpful if this policy was clearly posted on the website or at the entrance. As travelers, we enjoy exploring local food scenes, but tonight's plans didn't work out. Hopefully, they'll consider updating their policies to better serve visitors.
My friend and I have been wanting to try this place since it opened but due to limited days and time opened we just recently went. The restaurant is very small and limited seating. The staff was very attentive and nice. The menu is very limited but we figured that was because the restaurant was so small and specialized in the few items. They do not sell beer or wine. You can bring a bottle of your own wine but they charge a $20 uncorking fee. We ordered a few of the pizzas to try. In the videos on Instagram and other posts it looked really good. The pizza was under cooked on top and the bottom was raw. The pizza was floppy like a wet noodle. The toppings fell right off immediately. After biting into the crust, I could visibly see that the dough was still raw inside. The inappropriately cooked pizza left my friend and myself sick later that night and next day. The ice cream was delicious but other than that I will go next door to Zito’s.
