Opinions de Europa Orinda
Always some of the best food in Orinda, and hearty servings too!
Man-O-Man the joint was hoppin! It was only a Wednesday and I found myself in Orinda with no plans other than to find a place to eat. I called upon the Oracle of Orinda and he recommended the Europa Hofbrau because of it Spectacular food..so here I am, and it was Amazing. 5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆
Food was great, It was my 60th birthday Celebration my family and friends loved it
Excellent Plates of European style food, plus sandwiches salads and so on
Excellent customer service. This is my first time that my friend took me out here to Orinda California. The manager was awesome. The server was great. The food was delicious. I definitely recommend it if they had glory greens and candy yams oh my God I’ll be in heaven right now. I’m bout to post some pics right now, but yeah, I gave it a five star. Definitely, I recommend it And you could actually eat outside and enjoy the sunset 🤩🤩🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽😌😎
Delicious ! BIG variety, and cooked in the traditional styles. Will go back again for sure
Great food, great flavor excellent customer service.. the owner is amazing 👏
Incredible food. But why don’t they ever have any German beers on draft?
I love this place. I make a point to come here when ever I vitis ( once or twice a year). Kind of a novelty in a small town. Highly reccommend the Reuban and the clam chowder, although everything I've had is good.
First time experience was awesome! Our favorites so far are the stuffed cabbage and mashed potatoes with gravy! Service was friendly! Thanks so much, we will be back for sure!✌️
Burger deffinetly worth the 10 minute wait for them to cook a real patty... everything here looks sooo good.. i will be brining my lady here this weekend... hard to believe all this time when in the area and had time for lunch my goto was nations... probably not anymore Also hige sign on wall for st. Patrick's day theyre brining in 1500LBS of corned beef and cabbage!!
Very good food, there's something for everybody. They care about you enjoying your food and visit... (Though I can understand some people feeling like they're not the most friendly) ... Nevertheless one of my favorite restaurants in the Lamorinda area...5 stars!
I love this hoffbra style restaurant. Very good sandwiches. I love the chef salad and turkey, mash potato, and stuffing plate.
Food is pretty unique and service is very fast. Definitely worth the price. The pastrami was our favorite, we highly recommend. Service was great, they accidentally dropped our bread on the counter and it was replaced. This place has a very different vibe from the rest of Orinda, in a good way.

Great classic spot with an old-school vibe and friendly feel. The place is clean, cozy, and has that local charm you don’t find often anymore. I had the corned beef with cabbage and mashed potatoes — hearty, flavorful, and just the kind of comfort food I was hoping for. Portions were generous, and the meat was super tender. Service was easy and efficient, and there’s plenty of space to sit and relax. Definitely coming back when I’m in the area.
One of the best reubens I've ever had. Pastrami is cut right in front of you. Everything was exceptional, from food to service. I definitely recommend stopping by for fresh sandwiches, salads, or burgers.
Comfort food at its finest. Warm and friendly atmosphere. I had the Ruben which was absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be back to try different things!
If you're looking for healthy food without any added b.s, this will be your place to visit. I've tried their food for the past few years and the quality and taste has been consistently good. My favorite is corn beef with mashed potatoes. Definitely check this place and give them a shot.
I love this restaurant for its comfort food. The corned beef is particularly good and so is the turkey. The sides are delicious, I especially like the dressing, and the cabbage.
Awesome, rare roast beef sandwich dipped and Kevin said the pastrami/corn beef sandwich was his favorite new sandwich
I got the Europa burger which is bussin indeed. Def would recommend. Their mashpotatos are also high-key GOATED. I showed up randomly one weekend lunchtime with a group of 20 people and there was plenty of seating for us and we got out into a lil back room and the food came out really fast too. Lots of cold water too. Awesome vibes. Anyways not really sure why they coin themselves so hard as an "European" restaurant cause lowkey this feels American LOL.

The roast beef is quite delicious and tender here. The turkey is also very moist. I don't particularly like the sides and salads here, but do recommend getting a sandwich or meats a la carte to take home.
Comfort hofbrau food in a working class dining room setting. They serve freshly prepared carved meats, such as roast turkey, roast beef, corned beef, pastrami and baked ham with sides like mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and cut corn. They have a grill that serves burgers and hot sandwiches too. Large portions - Good value for the money.
Classic hofbrau foods. Setting is reminiscent of a traditional hofbrau, open spaces and larger tables. I noticed there is a banquet sized long table in the back. It was not super busy at lunchtime on Saturday which was great for a meetup with an old friend and minimal background sound allowed us to have an unhindered lengthy conversation.
Great food, great service, friendly employees. A real Hofbrau. I forgot to take a picture of my lunch. Price is reasonable for the amount you get.
The Reuben here is amazing. The turkey dinner is amazing. Most of the other food isn’t that great or doesn’t have flavor. The beer is great. The staff is excellent. Highly recommend.
Pleasant and quiet dining area. Amazing, fresh cooked food. One of my favorite places, especially the turkey dinner plater.

No frills cafeteria food. They have a nice selection of carved meat. They also have an area for kids to play away from the dining area. The prices are on par with a family owned sandwich place in the area. My only complaint is my main dish wasn't piping hot, a standard by which I judge all restraunts. To be fair, it was within the legal range.
Nice place but some dishes are too salty.
Food is great. Been the same for years no surprises which is nice.
I have been here several times so far. This place works well if you enjoy classic American food (Meatloaf, roast beef, pot roast, etc) If you prefer other cuisines, this wouldn't work well for you. When visiting I enjoy either Reuben sandwich and mashed potatoes or Meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Alongside a soup My mom likes the roast beef sandwich with au jous sauce My brother enjoys any Italian-American dishes like the classic Spaghetti and Meatballs. To conclude, if you enjoy classic American comfort food this place works well for you.
Delicious hofbrau food and friendly service! I had a roast beef sandwich on a sourdough roll, dipped, the side of au jus and the meat was tender with a proper, fresh, sourdough roll. A delicious cucumber salad rounded out the meal. I'll definitely be going back to Europa! With not many hofbraus left locally, Europa is worth checking out.
Great eatery when you crave a home style meal. Always plenty to choose: hot, sliced meats w/veg sides, open face and traditional hot sandwiches, soups & salads, and sliced desserts. Takeout is easy and plenty of tables for eat-in. My senior mom enjoys her trips to Europa and my 20-something niece surprised me saying she pops in there on her way home to Hayward after she visits me. Multigenerational favorite! Parking: plenty of space in the BevMo back lot but requires taking steps up to restaurant. Front entrance is ADA accessible/street level with angled parking at curb, can be limited.
This is your place for a comforting, heavy meal. Not many healthy options but the food was delicious and big portions. Lots of meats, served cafeteria style where you grab a tray and ask for what you want as you move down the line. Lots of places to sit. Friendly service.
I went here once 20yrs ago but don't remember much and since a family member moved to the HUD Housing in Orinda we decided to try it out. Huge amount of meat and two sides for $20. We will be returning and look forward to fish on Friday.

We picked up an online-order, which was ready quickly. The corned beef and cabbage was good, but could have used some more flavor. Some pieces were a bit on the chewy side, too. Mashed potatoes were good, as were the green beans. But I thought the prices were a bit on the high side. The guy who gave me my online order was also a bit rude. Might come back in the future for the turkey, but I wouldn't rush back here. The location is odd/difficult to get in/out of, and the food wasn't as good as some other places we've been to in the area.
It's a nice old place, nothing special about the inside decor. The staff is average and they are just doing their job and I have no complaints. We ordered a roast beef sandwich and was a little on the very rare side but I was told it was good. I ordered a burger and it's just a regular burger slightly overcooked, I wouldn't order again. The place was clean and and I didn't see any red flags. They have alot of different option and next time I will try something different and update my review

I really wanted to like this place. I love tommy's joint was hoping it would be kinda like it.My expectations weren't that high but I was hoping. I got the corned beef Ruben, because it said it was voted the best. It was on some old white looking bread that they said was rye with fake and Swiss cheese. The corned beef was good though. I went in wanting a french dip, but all they had was a huge roast beef, and they were starting at the end and wouldn't cut it in half so I could have rare, so I ended up with the corned beef instead. I will tell you that I don't know if it's the owner that was at the cash register, but he was treating his employees terribly, which was a real turn off to me, which made me not wanna come back again. Might want to take some time workin on your sides and whomever the cashier was, don't be so disrespectful to your employees.
It's your local golden corral without the long lines. The food was cafeteria quality and $16.99 for a cold cafeteria sandwich is robbery. I don't mind today's prices if the food is good. The cook had attitude like he didnt want to be there tonight. Throwing my bread around and losing his temper. I've had great food with high prices and attitude given. The place was awful and nation's across the street would've been 10x better. Cold/dry sandwich ONLY $16.99 Cafeteria Mashed potatoes $4 Fountain drink $3 Awful food, poor service and I hope the cook has a better day tomorrow. 👎
20$ chicken sandwich….for a 10$ chicken sandwich. Maybe jus take that off the menu? So many other good choices on the menu idk why they would put something on there they can royally screw up that bad. Sorry Europa I can’t come back- took one bite and instantly wish I went to Panda Express. If you do go here…don’t get a sandwich apparently just get what looks good when you walk in? Bbq sauce out of a jar, frozen fries straight to drier no batter comes out soggy every time straight from the frier, chef, and it wasn’t worth 20$ not even close. Maybe put effort into designing a sandwich that doesn’t take 3 minutes…or don’t rip people off just because you’re in Moraga. Not a 20$ chicken sandwich, chef.
I was going here for dinner with my husband for the past several months, mostly for a quick, hearty meal after a long workday. Each visit, we were surprised and disappointed by employee attitudes: they appeared disgruntled and, in truth, annoyed when we went through the food line. If, in the process of making a meal selection, we asked a question about the food, they would either not respond or tell us to “look at the menu.” Several times, they slammed down the trays of food, and, instead of talking, as one would throughout the transaction process, they stood still, stared at us, and pointed to the credit machine—no acknowledgment of our payment or meal. To be sure, others may not find this as troubling, but for us, part of eating out is our interaction with the food servers; a disengaged, sullen employee who does not answer questions and appears frustrated can sour the experience, as indicated here. Indeed, the experience has consistently been displeasing, in large part because we are spending money that is not overflowing and that we work hard for, but have, in addition to the food, paid for an uncomfortable and browning atmosphere. Also frustrating is the inconsistent portion sizes and strands of hair—not ours—that were in our food.
As Hofbraus go, this is absolutely the bottom of the barrel. I’ll focus on their signature serving, The Rueben after this, but must talk about the rest of the catastrophe that is this place. Firstly, their overall meat preparation is downright bad. We all expect sides from Hofbraus to be bland, poorly seasoned with a heartily excessive fat addition to make them palatable. What’s saves them is the curing and cooking of the specialty meats. And that’s where this place fails spectacularly. The meets are poorly selected, badly cut and terribly brined and seasoned. It’s so bad that it’s not worth talking about. Now let’s talk about the “Best in the East Bay” Rueben which after two different tries I can certify as a disaster. The pastrami has all the terrible attributes of their rest of their meats. Pastrami being full of fat and boily wet that belies the entire idea of pastrami as lean and umami filled goodness. The sauerkraut is days old at best and the dressing is grocery store grease. And remember that this is a fifteen dollar sandwich. The quintessential horror is that they throw the sandwich together and put it in the microwave! That gets the bread soggy the meat even more greasy and makes its into a gooey mess. I’m not sure how this place survives but it will definitely survive without us from now on.
Sometimes food tastes better than it looks. This was just the opposite! The "Homemade Stuffing & gravy" was a gooey, sticky, slimy glop. Although it had the consistency of wallpaper paste, I think wallpaper paste would be an improvement. With its foul taste, fatty meat, and coat of slime, the Reuben was no better. Our entire meal ended up in the garbage. We ordered a new meal from somewhere else. It was that bad.
I went to get food for me and my worker yesterday. I had the most bizarre behavior from the man behind the counter, as if he was so busy holding the counter To be bothered, since there was only one customer besides me, he was just standing waiting it seemed to me, yet he wouldn’t even let me finish asking the questions regarding the options for side dish while he was already serving them in a plate, I said, it’s to go please, He was upset, sort of threw it in a to go plate, he didn’t greet me, thank me, was short, rude, almost like a toddler when he tosses things when mad, as I walk on the buffet like bar, the Second Gentleman was not terrible but sort of careless, again not hello or thank you so I would know he was done with my second plate, and as I move along, the cashier didn’t even tell me the total nor gave me a receipt, or thank you or bye, just as if they were so upset clients bother them. The place was pretty empty, the decor is terrible. Food was overpriced, my sandwich which by the way was extremely small, 2.5” long! was so blah, there was soo much mayonnaise, the bread was so hard, my side dish, straight canned corn, cold! I tried my worker side dish, a pasta sala: tasteless. Terrible experience, $45 for lunch for two people. Do no go to this place. Terrible.
