Great food, real ales, friendly staff and pub full of history and atmosphere.
Great food and nice venue..the staff was very welcoming..I had probably the best food you can have in a local pub..Big portions and very tasty home made food. The Fish and chips was huge!
Well and truly a pub experience. Lovely atmosphere but very busy. Very traditional pub decor and clean interior. The food was nice, I went for the mixed grill washed down with a pint of Peroni. The only thing I’ll say is that they had lots of beers of draught but the they didn’t have a menu and the waitress couldn’t name them either. Although, I could have easy got up and looked myself but a so mentioned, it was busy and would have been much more convenient to have been told at the table. Very small issue. The service was good, quick and friendly. Everything ing you’d expect. Lovely establishment and clearly it’s well run!
Pre booked for Sunday lunch. You have to walk to the premises as there is no on-site parking, but plenty of parking at near by supermarket. ( free for up to 3hrs ) There was a warm, friendly welcome, and as we had booked, Didn't have to wait to be seated. The service and the food were excellent, and staff very helpful. Highly recommend
Had a meal at this pub and could not fault the food or the service. Good food, lovely atmosphere, pleasant ambience, friendly and attentive staff. Photos - scampi, pâté, prawn cocktail & steak & Stilton baguette.
Fantastic food as always. The steak and ale pie has a nice crust and none of this puff pastry one. The sea bass was light and fluffy. The only small gripe was the crumble topping. However the stewed apples were outstanding so the crumble topping can be forgiven. Great pub.
Went on a Sunday and it was very busy, good job we had booked a table for 5. We had black pudding, nachos and pork belly, followed by 4 roasts and 1 pie. 3 of us had to force ( we were already full) on of the best crème brûlée ever. We will be back
The Best pub food and drink I have been in this year. Very friendly and welcoming pub. You know it's a friendly pub when someone brought their dog with them. They brew their own beer and they have different types. The roast beef was excellent. The chicken sticky was fabulous and generous portions. The desserts were excellent served with amazing ice cream. Unless you are lucky you may need to book a week in advance, it's that good.
Such a great pub/restaurant. Staff are friendly, clearly well trained and efficient and the selection of beers are excellent. We also had food, which was also lovely. The cow burger is great quality and the chicken goujons were fresh and tasty. Our friends had the steak pie, which they enjoyed. There's an extensive outdoor sitting area with lots of parts covered, in what looks like an old stable roof and the interior is old pub style, spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished. A must visit if you're in the area.
Very good pricing, beer was lovely and cold. Overall warm atmosphere with plenty of seating. Even had someone playing the saxophone live!
Great food. Great atmosphere. I had cheese and onion pie with leeks. Service was really good. Food was superb. Beer garden, not too fat from train station. They even had Lancashire Sauce. Bonus.
I have been here to the Hop Vine many, many times, too many times to count, honestly. I have tried a wide range of their menu, from their Steak and Ale pie, their Fish & Chips, their Hunter’s Chicken, their Rumpsteak, i’ve had the lot. So it’s safe to say i am somewhat of a connoisseur of their food. And for all the times i’ve visited, i’ve never once been let down by not just the food, but also the service. The memories i’ve been able to share here over the years, have been nothing short of fond ones. But, alas. Today’s meal, i had something different from the norm. Today i decided that i’d order their Wild Mushroom Linguini. Which i must say, most people would not think this was pub grub. For what i had you’d think it was from a proper Italian restaurant. It was scrumptious, however. It really was. The creaminess of the base, the soft texture of the linguini, the chewy and flavourful mushrooms, the subtle spinach and leek add some subtle flavours, along with the parmesan, it was brilliant, utterly marvellous, in fact. Service, as usual, was superb. The waitress’s are always attentive and all ears out for your every needs. Decor is very cozy and warm, too. I can imagine this place feeling like home in the winter months. As i have been here so many times, and i’ve never once been disappointed, i would recommend you bob on by for either a drink alone or some great pub grub! 5/5 on all fronts.
Pub with great vibe that does very decent pub grub. Salad is notably absent. Homemade veggie burger was excellent.
Really good real pub , friendly staff great range of ales that are brewed on the premises, we didn’t have the food but it looked great and would definitely return if to try it if we were in the area
Fantastic Sunday lunch at the Hop Vine. Beef Sunday dinner was fantastic, we had a few starters between the group (garlic mushrooms, salt and pepper calamari and some breaded brie). All the food was awesome. Lots of beers on draft and the wine was very good too! Highly recommend!!
Excellent food and good service. Out of seven people, not one was disappointed. Quite busy on a Sunday afternoon, but the staff did well to attend to us.
The food is very delicious, and good value for money too. Beer is very refreshing. Staffs were very friendly and efficient! Love it, will definitely come back!
Just as the Google Reviews report 👍 - Fantastic Food with Excellent Service 🙂 Visited one Bank Holiday Monday for Lunch. Reserved a table via the Website, just to be safe. Layout of the Pub is nicely spaced, with a comfortable 'old' feel about it 👍 Menu is varied and quite large, so something for everyone 😉 The food is fantastic, really nicely cooked with great ingredients and great presentation 😎 Food is served quickly and is piping hot 👍 Service is very good, fast, efficient and friendly 👍 Definitely a place to visit if you're in the area (or even to head to if you're not close by 😉) you won't be disappointed 👍😎
Chuffing excellent, truly awesome food, super friendly and fun staff ⚕️ live band were ace, their own IPA was good but the blonde was top notch, top top night, very grateful for the hard work that must have gone in for the seamless way everything flowed. A+++👍
Went here for a midweek tea, was recommended & i would highly recommend this place to anyone. Great choice of selection on menus, excellent size portions, and very good value. Will 100% return soon!!!😃👍
Went today for the first time. Plenty of choice but the sandwiches we chose were delicious , fresh bread and plenty of filling the chubby chips were a great addition . All the staff were lovely and very helpful will definitely be returning
Really enjoyed my meal my partner had the ribs as a starter which where tender and full of flavour then lamb chops again he could not fault I had salmon which was perfectly cooked with crispy skin a creme brule to follow everything was delicious we'll be back soon!
I love this pub. It has such a lovely atmosphere and is really well decorated and set out. A popular proper pub with high end restaurant food. They were really accommodating with fussy dietey requirements. We also stayed for the quiz which was fun.
One of the best places for fish and chips, as well as lots of other delicious dishes. Would highly recommend!
Lovely pub with lots of food and drink options.
Staff were very polite and helpful, the steak pie was lovely and so was the fish and chips. But the Eaton mess cheese cake was next level.mmmmm. 5*..
Went to hop vine in burscough for my birthday, food was excellent, big portions, well presented cooked my steak to great satisfaction, staff were lovely and friendly, nice atmosphere. Will definitely be going back there 😁
One of the best pubs around. Our food was superb, and the staff are great.
Great pub for this village/town. Food and beer great and nice atmosphere with decent clientele. Not too expensive either.
Been a few times new and it’s worth the drive! Food is always on point and the staff are very pleasant. A nice atmosphere is always present. Will definitely be back soon.
Very lively pub, and the food was excellent I had cheese onion leek pie, best cheese pie ever. Great to see a pub so busy on a Thursday night. Would highly recommend it.
Absolutely loved this pub only been once for an extended family meal. The food was top tier service and the atmosphere in a traditional lovely pub was superb.
Brilliant place excellent food, lovely staff. Very atmospheric. They manage to keep an original pub vibe, along with restaurant quality food...
Best proper pub I’ve been to for such a long time. Amazing food - ordered fish goujons, hunters chicken - partner had prawns and mixed grill - just beautiful. The waiting staff are so well cared for by the mangers - great atmosphere - feels like a homely place to be. Heard people saying “thank you for looking after them” “great meal again” just great northern hospitality- I’ll go here when I need to just unwind - rely on great food and attentive and kind service. Manager on the food pass checking quality. Everything you would expect from well run place. Had to undo pants on way home - portions are amazing! Staff and service great! Just try Lancashire sauce! They sell it too! Thank you for a great day
First visit yesterday ,can't wait to return next week, very good food good selection of beers at reasonable prices
It's a few years since ive ate here but wow the recent visit the food was outstanding and great value for money
We went here for my son's 6th Birthday today. The food was absolutely amazing and it was nice that the server wished him a happy birthday. £90 for 5 people (my son ordered off the main adult menu) including drinks is reasonable and the decor and the atmosphere was extremely nice.
At last, I have retired from my teaching career, which has given me the wonderful opportunity to do brunch with friends. The Hopvine truly ticks all the boxes for me. The ambiance is warm and cosy, and the ladies are absolutely lovely—so welcoming and attentive. I am especially pleased to see a more mature team (I hope they do not mind me saying so), as they genuinely know how to make people feel comfortable and valued. A special mention must go to Edward, a new gentleman on the team, who allows my friend and me a little harmless flirting and banter, which only adds to an already enjoyable afternoon. Another dapper gentleman, Phil, kindly escorted us to the new wine bar, Frasers, which is simply beautiful. The interior is divine, and it is so refreshing to have a new wine bar where you can dress up, feel spoiled, and enjoy the experience. My only small suggestion would be to please hurry along with the cocktails—I understand the staff are due to attend training soon. Keep up the amazing work, particularly in recruiting such wonderful people.
Was recommended to go for Sunday lunch and it did not disappoint. Very lovely roast dinner plenty of options for extras and the staff were brilliant, very efficient service and also on hand for any requests/asks. Wait time for food isn’t too long at all, was massively impressed and will be going again for sure.
Lovely birthday 🎂 meal for my other half. The food was very nice, the service was outstanding. I would definitely recommend this place.
Had a beautiful fish pie , very fresh and very very tasty , the other 3 people with me had a mix of things and all enjoyed it m. Great atmosphere and faultless service . Would deffo go back and recommend
The Hop Vine is one of my favourite places to eat in the area and have not dined here for a while. We had the Steak & Ale Pie, Hunters Chicken and for desert Apple Pie & Cheesecake. Why if one of my favourite places to dine do I give 4 stars…..simple…The Hop Vine has set high standards with our past visits and this visit was very good but not as good as previous (now we are splitting hairs here) as it was very good. I think it was because we enjoyed our desert more than the main course. The staff here are very and I mean very good and friendly some of the finest in the area. A wonderful selection of real ales. I wish I could pop the star rating at 4.5 but can only put 4 and not fair to put 5 when I know and have experienced the Hop Vine at its finest previously. Would I return - yes, would I recommend to anybody - absolutely. One of finest Pub / Restaurants in the area.
A very well setup and decorative pub with a large selection of beers and very friendly and well trained staff. We enjoyed our meals but have to say the fish was rather oily. The cow burger was delightful, the king prawns as a starter very tasty (being from Australia, not sure how they were defined as King) and the others enjoyed their meals as well. All in all a good meal, environment and reasonable prices. We had 3.5 starters, 4 mains, 5 pints and 2 Prosecco. With tip £100.
First experience of the restaurant. Busy restaurant nice tasteful decor. Good food and service.
A nice local pub. For a while I thought it was a wetherspoons so didn't visit, but it's a real pub and quite nice. Lovely outside area and friendly staff. They serve Jute. Dogs are restricted to certain areas.
Visited the Hop Vine on 5.9.21 first time I've been there. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. There is a nice relaxed atmosphere in this eatery . There is is good selection on the menu and prices are reasonable. Portion sizes are good. Its location 5 minutes walk from Leeds Liverpool canal so after a feed a nice walking 🚶♀️will help you digest your meal. Well worth a visit .
Great food pub which also serves their own on-site beers. The best bitter is excellent. I could tell the food was home-made by a very good chef. Superb quality pub nosh. Staff are very friendly and efficient too. Highly recommend if you're visiting Burscough.
Lovely place with great food. Some staff members (one) were found to be abrupt, bordering on rude that made what was a happy family birthday occasion, feel a bit less pleasant than we'd hoped. After being seated for 15 minutes and reading the menu "what name was this table booked as?". Then returning to ask again. An "excuse me can I just ask" might have been nice. Nevertheless a very nice meal, very nicely cooked, and we would visit again.
Staff very welcoming but the sandwich i ordered was not very appetising at all the white bread felt stale and the filling was very minimal it says served with salad there were a few pieces of lettuce and bits of red pepper that was it it looked like it had been thrown together wouldn't go again
Unbelievably overrated. The food is standard price but not very high quality. If you’re not interested in food and don’t mind being crammed into a corner to eat crumbling fried fish ( incorrect fryer temp) and over cooked chips ( triple dunked at least) do not go here. Instead you could give various pubs in the area a fighting chance and experience food that hasn’t been thrown from the pass. At least service was with a smile, mostly.
