If I have had better Mediterranean food then I can't remember where or when! Petra is without a doubt the best. The food is delightfully prepared, presented well & tastes delicious. Every taste is as it should be, not overwhelmed with an abundance of spices, but just enough to complement whatever the base component is. For example, the falafels are not too dry nor too moist, & the accompanying tahini does not overpower the main ingredient. Petra is as good as it gets & I highly recommend trying it if you are in the Monterey area.

Delicious food. -I tried the Kefta Kebob plate. Very satisfying! I also used some common sense and appropriate amount of caution when eating the olives - so no problem!

As we sat down to dinner, the server asked the table next to us how their meal was. The lady replied, “It was grand.” I agree. My gyro platter was served with one of the tastiest Greek salads I’d ever eaten. Fresh greens and a bright dressing that I could drink. The gyro meat was tender, but had bits of char on the sides that provide that unmistakeable texture. The rice was subtly flavored and worked well with the other components of the plate. Service with a smile topped off our dinner. Bottom line: the picture of Meryl Streep on the wall says it all... this is a restaurant worthy of stars.

Tasted like my Lebanese grandmother's food- especially the grape leaves with meat. This was my first indoor dining experience since COVID and it was safe and lovely. I wish I lived close enough to get delivery, but it will have to stay a treat for now.

This is our favorite restaurant in Pacific Grove. I forgot to take pictures because it smelled so good. The food is made with fresh ingredients using time-tested recipes and authentic Mediterranean seasoning. Our party of 3 started with a Turkish coffee and the falafel appetizer. Then we had the Combination Platter, the Gryos Platter, and the Half Roasted Chicken seasoned with sumac and nutmeg. Delicious!! Our entrees came with a Greek salad with tasty feta and amazing olives, and warm pita. We finished with the halva. Try this place, and you're sure to become a regular. Very highly recommend.

I frequent both Petra Restaurant and Petra Cafe. Recently, we took a party of 12 friends to the restaurant and all of our friends thanked us! The Gyro is hands down the BEST I’ve ever eaten and my absolute favorite. Whether you order the kafta or a steak, both are flavorful and so tender. Some kafta can be dry, not this one! Their falafel is the best too, really. Our friends loved the lamb shank and said it was so tender and delicious. Be sure to have tea or a Turkish coffee with the baclava! From the first bite of the baclava you’ll find your tongue floating in a sea of honey. The tea service is beautiful. From writing this review I’m ordering for take out right now! I encourage you to dine in as the experience is really like dining in the chef’s home. I just love it.

Very interesting place. Food is quite tasty and service was very good. Quiet and reserved, really enjoyed the difference in atmosphere here. Waiter was excellent. Worth trying, but don't expect a rushed eating experience. It isn't about getting in and eating the running on to your next event.

We drove from Carmel to have dinner here. Food was delicious made with fresh ingredients and lots of flavor. I had the kebobs, 1 chicken skewer, 1 beef. My wife had the gyros platter. Included side salad. We added a glass of wine. Just what we wanted. We'll definitely go back.

Or appetizer was a hummus sampler tray which consisted of your baba ganoush, tzatziki and your original hummus following the pita bread. Everything was delicious the service was great. I must warn you though you will need more napkins and we'll take care of you.

Decent but came here on a recommendation and definitely did not live up the the hype. We were the only ones in there for quite some time and really slow service. Decent if ur in a pinch but wouldn't ever go out of my way for it in the future.

The service was perfunctory. The food was dried out and not hot. I want to like this place, and did in the past, but maybe they're resting on their laurels.

So this food is great! I did think it was over priced though. I wouldn't mind spending the money they're asking for if only they'd make their portions larger. That and I wish they'd make their own bread instead of using packaged peta bread. Overall though, I liked my good a lot but was still hungry and next time I'll just hit up a gryo place to get my Mediterranean fix.

The lamb chops were Perfect. The service was ABSOLUTELY horrible. Our server was rude, knew nothing about the food or the menu and incompetent. Very sad.

I had the Falafel sandwich, and if you like your Greek food with very mild flavors, then this place is for you! I did see them making my Falafel sandwich, but I'm guessing they took the tzatziki or whatever "sauce" they were putting on my sandwich, put it on the pita, then wiped it off with a napkin, leaving just there barest hint of sauce and flavor. My sandwich was dry and bland. Which, when I think of Greek food, is the opposite of what I want.

I am half Lebanese and know quality Mediteranian food. Despite all the good reviews on this site I am sorry to say this experience does not compare. Very dry gyro meat, fatty, not well seasoned and chewy lamb kabobs, and mushy lamb grape leaves with practically no meat. My wife’s falafel was very dry as well. Yucky across the board. Maybe we had a bad chef day but we will not be back!

So the first time we ate there, we were impressed. We got the same oder tonight but to go: two gyro sandwiches. Mine was chicken, and I should have inspected it while I was there, because when I got home, the amount of chicken was half what I got when we ate in the restaurant. Half. It was barely enough for a 1/2 sandwich. My husband's order was fine, exactly what he got last time. I called the restaurant to complain and all they did was say it's supposed to be exactly three and a half ounces. I'm sorry, but I don't have a scale here, so I'm not gonna measure it. But by looking at it, you could see the meat was half the amount of my husband's sandwich. So did the chicken weigh heavier than the lamb and beef? Was it made of a heavy metal? I don't think so. And no I didn't take pictures, I should have. So my advice is never ever get takeout from them. Or better yet find another place. 20$ for half a sandwich. Such a great value. 😵
