J. Alexander’s is one of my families go to spots for dinner, specifically at the bar. The customer service is next level! I got the french dip and wow it was delicious. It was cooked more on the medium side than rare, I would specify your preference to the server. The au jus was savory and rich, the horseradish added a nice heat. The shoestring fries were very yummy too. My mom got the baby back ribs, which she always enjoys. They really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and any issues are handled promptly. I will definitely be coming back!
Wonderful service, food, and atmosphere at J. Alexander's in Palm Beach Gardens. We recently enjoyed lunch and dessert in celebration of a birthday. We couldn't be more pleased. Our server, Ezekiel, was simply extraordinary. The food was delicious. I loved Mr. Jack's Crispy Chicken Platter with lots of crispy chicken, fries, and coleslaw. There was so much I needed a container to take some home. We also ordered the California burger with sliced avocado and the Country Club with a side salad. We'll be back.
Update: visited on my most recent trip last week. Staff was very friendly and helpful and inviting. Dined on 2 separate occasions. Once for a late lunch and then dinner. The food was absolutely delicious 😋.. We dined here last year on a trip to West Palm Beach. I forgot what I had eaten for dinner but I do recall the desert!!! Food was great, service was great and prices are really good. We thoroughly enjoyed. Here are some desert photos.
My wife and I were here for lunch on a weekday. We both had cheeseburgers and they were some of the best cheeseburgers we’ve ever had. The staff was professional and the experience was very enjoyable. You have to have the carrot cake! It was warm and tasted like it was freshly prepared.
The food was delicious, the drinks were great (not too strong, but still not too weak), the service was excellent and the servers were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We had such a wonderful time with our sweet Ash. And the music 🎶… all I personally needed was a dance floor and a love to dance with. I hope you #enjoy your time, the food, the drinks and the service! ❤️💕🎶🥰
They really did a great job making my mom’s birthday dinner memorable. We had never been here and everything was amazing. My mom’s prime rib was so delicious and my steak burger came out great! The carrot cake was so good, we had to pack it up and take it home because we were so stuffed from dinner! The calamari was also amazing. Our server was very attentive and gave us updates as we waited for our food and was so kind. We loved everything about it and would definitely go again! Thank you!
First time at J. Alexander's and loved the dining experience. We had reservations and were seated as soon as we arrived. The space is large with an open kitchen. Noise level was good - able to have a conversation at the table. Our waiter was personable and informative. Was not intrusive. The food was delicious. Our dinner mate had the crab cakes and said they were the best she ever had. I enjoyed the seared ahi tuna with a cold orzo salad which was very tasty. The mahi mahi with a crab topping was another winner. The cod piccata was good but a little mushy. The couscous was a big hit. It was a pleasant evening and definitely will visit again.
I came here for Easter. The macaroni and cheese is to die for! Today I had the swordfish special and it was the best swordfish I ever had. It melted in my mouth. They had calamari on special so I ordered that as well but it was cut too thick. I wouldn't order that again. You also can't go wrong with the martinis. They bring you the extra on the side. Also, make sure you get that carrot cake. It's the best! Update... The swordfish is still wonderful off the special menu. I'm just bummed out that there's absolutely no happy hour anymore.
I had a delightful experience at this place! The atmosphere paired perfectly with the fantastic food. The Mac n Cheese was truly exceptional - easily one of the best I've ever tasted. The burger was fresh and delicious. For lunch, we were promptly seated, and the service was impeccable. I'm definitely planning to return for another wonderful meal.
We love this place for a quality meal and experience. Professional staff, clean and organized facility. Great food and drinks! Also they have bread but you have to ask for it!
Continuing the Treasure Coast Food Tour. This is a must stop for anyone in the Area. We had the Specials for the Evening. Swordfish with a Jalapeno sauce. Lemon Butter Cod with Crispy Shrimp. The deviled egg appetizer a little pricey but worth it. Our server. Steve, was very friendly and helpful. Wish we could have had dessert to try but we had no room left. We shall return.
Many years without visiting this establishment, was happy to have gone back. The food was ok nothing too memorable. I had their special of the day - the fish in lemon butter sauce it was a bit tasteless but I was hungry. The spicy shrimp appetizer would have been better with bigger shrimp and less sauce. The drinks were yummy and we got second round without asking for it but I didn’t mind cause they were not watered down. The service was on point even though the place was packed.
Couldn’t be more pleased, enjoyed a wonderful evening out! Ordered the Calamari to start which was paired with a delicious marinara sauce. For my entree, I ordered the New York Strip that was cooked to perfection, (actually the best temp i’ve had in a while.) I sat by the bar & my server Adrianna was very attentive & made sure I never had to look for her all while giving me my space and allowing me to enjoy my dinner. Highly recommend this location if you are in the area!
July 1, 2024 update!! Alee B. was our server. She has made the experience what we were used to! All categories are 5 stars again!! Alee was knowledgeable, FRIENDLY, attentive, and genuine. I made sure to tell both managers that were on duty how great it was! My wife had her go to favorite French Dip with fries, I had the Chef Special Blue Cheese crusted NY Strip with the always delicious and highly addictive Mac’n Cheese! The last two pics are from today. Thanks Alee B.! Valentine’s Day 2024. Food is always amazing!! Atmosphere is great. Service is a 5 but I gave it a 4 star because the servers haven’t had the nice personalities they used to have here 4-5 years ago. They do their job but are not as personable. Went there for Valentine’s Day and food was amazing. I highly recommend the Mac ‘n cheese for a side. My wife had the French Dip and I had the Chef Special Cajun Ribeye!
Couldn’t understand why I liked this place so much, then I realized it reminded me of a more upscale Cheesecake Factory. The food was pretty good, but what stood out to me most was the fantastic service we were given. Attentive! Demure! I also liked the little hooks on each booth, thought it was a very creative touch.
We were seated right away. Our server, I believe his name was Steve, made great suggestions and was very attentive. The food. Was well prepared and the grilled artichoke was a treat!! We enjoyed it.
We used to frequent this place a lot a few years back. Living in the north end of the county, we tend to forget about it. Celebrated my birthday there with some friends. Scallops on the special were delicious, and the wine selection is lovely. Warm carrot cake for dessert. Service was lovely (Alexis), prompt with attention on beverages and ordering (not pushy) and quick turn around from the kitchen.
Gorgeous Decor, Friendly Atmosphere, With excellent food. I had the Crab cakes they are perfectly shaped and you receive 2! They are paired with a side of your choice I had the Fries. Both were cooked to perfection. I’ve been here many times it’s just of i95 great place.
I fall in love with crab cakes here. First time in my life, I tried crab cakes and what a taste. Though American serving size is way too much, I didn't get to finish all. And loads of fries served with crab cakes. We also ordered queso in the starter. And that's why you see a 5-star at the top of this review. I'm biased when it comes to good queso. But overall the place and people were good. Other food reviews from people on our table were good too!
My second time eating here at the bar area and had a very cool waitress! Prickly pear margarita was amazing, I had the salad with ranch and with her suggestions I had the bbq ribs with Mac and cheese and loaded potatoes. The ribs was perfect huge rack sauce had a bit of kick then the Mac and cheese was full of flavor and creamy. Potato loaded was nice and had no problem getting a extra side of sour cream to take home for leftovers. Get the carrot cake no matter what to go and is best for sharing. Carrot cake is a moist slab with thick icing and warmed !!!!! Best I ever had. Yes it’s a pricey place but good food, atmosphere and experienced friendly staff and always busy.
Excellent service, cocktails, and food. Everything was so fresh and seasoned perfectly. The cilantro shrimp was presented over a bed of seasoned rice in the shape of a fish. Very creative presentation. The bread was sourdough and warm with a crispy crunchy crust. The salad was also fresh with crisp vegetables and house made ranch dressing.
I recently dined at J. Alexander's and I must say that it was an absolutely incredible experience. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed with the contemporary ambiance and the warm welcome from the staff. The menu was expansive, with a wide variety of American classics that had my mouth watering. I decided to go with the Thai Khai salad and it did not disappoint. The flavors were bold and the portion was generous. To complement my meal, I ordered a glass of rose and it was the perfect accompaniment. Overall, I would highly recommend J. Alexander's to anyone looking for a high-quality dining experience. The restaurant has something for everyone, whether you're in the mood for steak, fresh seafood, sandwiches, or entrée salads. The service is top-notch and the ambiance is perfect for a romantic night out or a gathering with friends. If you're looking for a restaurant that truly values the dining experience, look no further than J. Alexander's.
Sam was great. We got sat very quickly and our server was very intuitive and on point. (Crab dip should be served with chips and not bread in my opinion)
Outstanding staff. Great steaks. Best Bernaise sauce ever. The NYO MAC and Cheese is a great side dish. It is truly not your old mac & cheese
J. Alexander's is an excellent place to dine & drink. The environment and atmosphere is upscale, and the staff here are incredibly friendly and professional. The food is exceptional and our waiter Andrew was very kind. I highly recommend this restaurant. 5 stars!
Excellent food. Menu is extensive and seasonal to a particularly high standard. Definitely fine dining. My server Jack was amazing and so patient with me. Highly recommended.
Great night! Drinks from the bar were amazing. Had a little hiccup on the drink my fiancé ordered when we sat. Deviled eggs appetizer was delicious. We ordered steak, the NY strip was little over cooked but the GM George came by to check on tables and noticed it was little over done. He had my fiancé’s steak remade with the side he ordered. Very very nice to go out of his way to check on us initially and to have our steak remade. Amazing to see management quality check tables which doesn’t happen everywhere. Everything was amazing.. We appreciate the great attention to detail from everyone. Will be back soon!!
Hosted 16 pickleball buddies, some like myself with hospitality backgrounds at my favorite lunch spot. Service was outstanding. Philip and Amber outdid themselves. Food was beautifully plated and delicious as always. Atmosphere was perfect. Just as expected a great time had by all. Thank you!
My wife and I went here for dinner to West Palm Beach. Food was excellent. The service was excellent. My wife had the New York strip steak which was cooked to her liking. I had a wahoo fish dish that was likewise excellent. We did not make reservations and had to wait less than 15 minutes for a seat. I think we were lucky though. It seems to be a rather busy place even on a Wednesday night. My only complaint is that it is a little noisy inside.
This was my first time dining in this establishment. I will definitely be going back again. I loved the food, the service, the atmosphere. I have NO complaints. Don't eat the chocolate cake for dessert. It is addictive and delicious!!!😁
This is our favorite date night place and tonight we came and had our usual steak Maui’s and they were overcooked. George went above and beyond and took care of us. We were pleasantly happy. He bought one of our steaks and took care of us for dessert. Thank you so very much for the great hospitality. We will sure be back.
My husband and I treated our daughter and son in law to lunch at J Alexander for their anniversary. We felt the relaxed cool vibe as soon as we walked in. The lighting and music was soft and low. Candles on every table added to the ambiance. Our server, Adriana was amazing! She made expert recommendations that guided us in ordering. We appreciated her attentiveness. She gave us a free carrot cake dessert for the anniversary couple along with her best wishes. They were pleasantly surprised. The margaritas had a nice kick, with either salt or sugar on the rim. Kudos to the bartender! We enjoyed potato soup and salmon croquettes for starters. Both were creamy and delicious. The baby back ribs and Cobb salad with rotisserie chicken were generous portions. We took half of the ribs home. The house made croutons were so light and airy they melted in your mouth. Their selection of sides were not your typical, run of the mill fare. We chose the well seasoned smashed potatoes and orzo wild rice salad. The chocolate cake and carrot cake were rich and delicious. We had enough to share and take some home. This was the perfect spot to enjoy a celebration with two very special people. We highly recommend.
We come here all the time. Trey our waiter is like family to us! We own a small business and treat our customers like Trey treats us. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is spot on, and the service is top notch!! When we eat at this restaurant the server, the hostess and the cooks are all top notch. We used to go to another very popular restaurant near by and we decided for the money, quality, and most of of all the friendly service that we deserve when we go out and want to enjoy a delicious steak dinner that never disappoints!!!! We always go to J Alexander’s for the best steak dinner we have ever had. Remember the hostess, Trey the server, and the best chefs in town!!! Go to this restaurant and you won’t be disappointed!!!!
I had a great birthday dinner! My birthday carrot cake was outstanding. I like how you're greeted almost immediately after being seated. The only issue was it was busy and hard to talk across the table
The good The filet mignon and pork chop are good. Celebrated a special occasion here and got a free chocolate cake The bad Would not recommend the steak frites as it was only seared on one side. Bread is no longer automatically served, you have to ask for it The ugly The asparagus appetizer was a complete waste of money as all the hearts were removed, leaving only the inedible shell...
We went in right around 5 and we’re seated right away, they weren’t too busy yet. We ordered the prime rib and the baby back ribs, both of which were very good, though the pepper on the prime rib was stronger then I would prefer. The food came out quickly as well. Our waiter was very friendly and personable, but it seemed that one of the other table’s guests were known personally, and his attention was focused there for most of the time. We had to wait extended periods of time for service at some times because of this. Overall our experience was very good, and we are sure that had our waiter not had people he knew occupying his attention, that it would have been a great experience.
We stopped here for a quick dinner & the service was nice. The food was pretty good as well. Want to stop by for dinner & actually sit. Bang bang shrimp had a sweetness to it that my husband enjoyed Smoked fish dipped was really good. Nicely seasoned & Smokey The steak w/ Mac & cheese was delicious. My husband enjoyed his salmon.
The food was great. I had the ahi tuna steak. It was huge. Hold the jokes. The smashed potatoes were great but it was a lot of food. But you must try the Mac & cheese. We were with a birthday girl and they brought us hot carrot cake that was unbelievable. The service was good. All in all a good night. After tip for 2 you are looking at about $80-&90. Worth it!
Among the restaurant chain this one is my favorite. Great food a nice wine list and a good bar. Service attitude depends on who you have at your table mostly are friendly and professional. Hillary the manager is a friendly presence in the restaurant. Some specials are for the night only but the seasonal menu is solid with Hong Kong shrimps and spare ribs over the top. Save space for the huge chocolate cake, amazing.
The food was good I think the steak could’ve been a little more tender. Our waitress was very nice what I did like was I ordered a lemon drop martini and they actually gave you the extra saw that was worth it and it’s self. The carrot cake was great lots of frosting which I love. Walked away with a bill about 150
Food was great. Service was ok nothing special. For some reason it was loud inside. You could hear everyone's conversations. Prime rib was cooked perfectly. Flounder was full of citrus flavor and a nice light batter
Walk-In lunch on a Tuesday. I was immediately given a seat and Victoria was very helpful in choosing the food and the side dishes. Unfortunately, I really didn't enjoy prime rib and sent it back and the manager, Robert, was very accommodating and I got another piece. It still wasn't what I was expecting. I will say that the meat was very tender and even though I would never eat mac 'n cheese, I took the recommendation to try theirs and it was delicious. The service was truly great. I would say that if you don't like sweet, ask to have the avocado bomb without the sweet sauce around it because the sauce overpowers the taste of the tuna and the crab.
J Alexander's is a nice option when doing lunch in the PGA area. It has a super nice bar in case your table is not available or while waiting for friends. After getting sitted which was only like 5 minutes at the beginning of the lunch time rush waitress recommended the soup and salad option to my friend and I ordered the Hake fish with Israeli Couscous. I have to say that this was delicious. I will order it again. Service here was outstanding. Very attentive and friendly service without being intrusive.
The food is delicious and we go there alot. Especially the filet and prime rib but instead of just meat and potatoes we would love a small salad and hot bread and butter with the meal.
If it wasn't for Mother's Day, I wouldn't have gone back to this restaurant. It's funny because we had the same waiter, Jason, as our previous time. My sister in law was asking about drinks and if they carried certain liquors. Jason said no to a few of them but then commented "we have a well stocked bar" clearly that's not the case if you don't have the ones requested. Our table had ordered prime rib, steak maui, and I ordered a well done steak burger since I can't have any uncooked meat. Unfortunately, my burger came out almost medium rare and the smashed potatoes were beyond salty and peppery. Couldn't even finish it. Explained it to Jason and he did apologize but nothing was really done on his part besides taking the burger back to be cooked longer. Also the burger was pretty bland. I would say service and food were subpar. Not worth spending over $250.
Ordered a NY Strip steak. It was not good. I ordered medium rare, and it came medium well. The steak had no flavor. I was disappointed. Although the Mac and Cheese was so good. The carrot cake was very good also. The waitress tried to make the steak right, but everyone at my table was done eating, and we had to go.
We typically love J’s and have supported them for many years. When we visit the restaurant the food is always delicious! Definitely a different story when it comes to take out! Tonight I asked my husband to pick up my favorite meal, French dip. Unfortunately, it was a mistake and total waste of money, (like it has been in the last few months). Meat is overcooked, full of fat and French fries are barely cooked and cold.
Update 9/8/24: Terrible, just terrible. Ordered take out. A really simple order two burgers one medium rare, one medium. Where to begin. Medium rare burger is totally raw to the point it's inedible. The fries are all cold. I arrived before my order was ready and live only a couple of minutes away from the restaurant. They shouldn't have been cold. The fact they expect people to pay $60, I would expect better quality control. Never again Fantastic place for a steak. Staff is very courteous and friendly. Was a great choice for a date night spot.
I've been a huge fan of the J. Alexander's in Fort Lauderdale for years, and I was pretty excited to check out the one in Palm Beach location. The place looks good, nice vibe but service and food were a total disaster. This spot seriously needs to get its act together with some staff training. Our waitress brought our drinks and then just… vanished. We waited forever just to put in our food order. When we finally did, we decided to split the lunch special salad, and it was a complete mess. The lettuce tasted like it had been chilling in the fridge overnight, and the chicken was definitely not fresh. The best part? They charged us another $8 to split it, which meant we paid $29 for a super gross appetizer. I know the split charge is on the menu, but paying that much for that kind of quality is just insane. Then came the main event, the prime rib. This was honestly one of the worst cuts of meat I've ever had. It was so full of gristle. I was paying $41 for half a steak. The little bit of edible meat that was left actually tasted decent, but it was hard to care. When I mentioned the gristle to the server, she just gave me a look and asked, “What do you want to do about it?” Like, seriously? Of course I wanted to do something about it, why else would I say anything? And the cherry on top? When I went to the restroom, I noticed vomit in the sink. It made me wonder if maybe someone else had the lunch special salad, but their portion had been in the fridge for two days instead of just one. All in all, it was a seriously bad experience. I'm definitely not going back for food, though the place does look nice enough to grab a drink. This location just doesn't measure up to the one in Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton or Colorado at all.
Trust me stay away from this place in season. It never fails that this place runs out of avocado bombs and artichokes at 730 pm on a Saturday night the management and chef do not know how to order inventory. This is the third time they have run out of these items and enough is enough. Tonight took the prize when I ordered my meat medium rare and it came med well done. Oh we can make you another one the manager said but I was not going to wait another 20 minutes for my meal when the others had their dinners already not worth it because they should get it right the first time. So buyer beware stay away during season. They cannot handle the traffic
