I came with my partner for lunch around 11:30am. The place was empty and there was only one person working, but we had a good experience. The jazz music gave the place a casual cafe vibe. We ordered the vegetarian pho and the meatball pho. The food came out fairly quickly and came with the usual sides of bean sprouts, chilis, basil, and lime. The sides were not super large portions, but the pho itself was. I enjoyed the vegetarian pho; the broth was packed with umami and there were plenty of hearty mushrooms, veggies, and tofu. My partner enjoyed his meatball pho as well. The prices were above what I’ve seen at other typical Vietnamese places, but for a local restaurant, I’d come back just for the convenience.
We got some delicious banh mi from here! I got the vegetarian tofu and shiitake which was soft and flavorful. We also got the braised pork banh mi, which was soft, flavors were nice but wished there was a bit more sweetness to it. Just craving that salty sweet combo! The bread was also a highlight, it tastes super fresh. Overall they were playing great music, the staff did their thing, and our meal was tasty. The employee recommended the shrimp banh mi, which we will try another time!
The bahn mi were delicious! Both the caramelized pork and the lemongrass shrimp were great. The rolls were good, with plenty of veggies on the sandwich the the shrimp were perfectly tender.
We came here while on vacation and the Pho was amazing. Quick service and nice staff. We also got shrimp spring rolls and they were so yummy! The peanut sauce was smooth and rich. Food was overall very fresh and perfectly balanced. Highly recommend for authentic Vietnamese food that hits the spot.
Me and my husband ordered Shrimp and Garden Pho, it was all delicious! Very fresh and savory. I really loved tofu in Garden Pho, it was so delicious! I really recommend Garden Pho if you love vegetables. I’d love to go back next time again :)💖
We love our sandwiches in the US and we are lucky to have a lot of options. I love them and sample them and If I had to choose the best sandwich in the world it’s the Bánh mi. I look for them everywhere and Banana blossom (visited riverdale) does a darn good one! Basically, A perfect fresh airy and crunchy baguette. Perfect fresh vegetables and herbs - daikon, carrots cilantro. Yummy perfect pork and lovely sweet, sour, with tiny heat here and there - Asian sauces and flavors. Its perfection! The best of Asian food mixed with all the things we love about a sandwich. Seriously try it out, and you will see why I think the Banh mi is the king of sandwiches ! However the execution matters too and I really enjoyed Banana Blossoms take on this. Delicious baguette, fresh ingredients and refined. Thank you very much!
Had lunch delivered today. Had the pork bahn mi and cabbage salad with vermicelli. Both delicious! I've had bahn mi sandwichs before and the bread has been too hard. This one was perfect. The cabbage salad was refreshing and very tasty. I added Sriracha to make it spicy. Would definitely order again.
Great new addition to the small town feel of Riverdale Park's Town Center. This Vietnamese restaurant is set up similarly to Chipotle with counter service and open seating. The food is all prepared on site and the staff is very friendly, patient, and helpful. They were out of Bahn Mi when we were the Saturday evening, but that just means I have to go back. Shucks 😉 The Pho was delicious and the fresh ingredients blended together perfectly. They even have a kids menu. Highly recommend!
Excellent Chicken Pho Noodle Soup & Bahn mi sandwich of shrimp 🦐 & spicy VEGGIES SLAW W/FISH SAUCE AMAZING 10/10 & GREAT HOSPITALITY & cool food court with many options 🙌
We've gone twice this week to the Banana Blossom Bistro - first, lunch on Friday, and it was so good that we returned for brunch on Sunday! I had the banh mi sandwich with lemongrass beef for lunch, and the porkchop with fried egg for brunch. Both were excellent. We've also enjoyed the Vietnamese iced coffee, the peach iced tea, and the limeade. The place is 100% heart. It's a fun atmosphere, the staff is cheerful and eager to help, and the food delicious. It's not at all your typical pho restaurant. It's a huge addition to the Riverdale neighborhood!
Great little Vietnamese spot. The Beef Pho is excellent. There is plenty of parking in the nearby area. The staff is friendly and helpful. Rapid service.
Best banh mi I’ve had in dc? A little pricey, but the veg sandwich has tofu AND mushrooms and the bread is ON POINT.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the bistro. The dining area is cozy with a few tables and a window side bar for eating. We started with the garden roll and it was served with a smooth creamy peanut sauce. It was so fresh and had a nice chew, very tasty. For lunch my husband had the vegan Bani mah sandwich with tofu and mushrooms and he enjoyed every bite. I had the garden pho and it was delightful. The broth is unique with a stronger anise flavor than traditional pho. It was a generous bowl, and I could have easily made it into two meals with a to go container. We will be back 😊
I actually used Banana Blossom Bistro for catering a lunch event for about 40 people, and it was stellar. The service, the food, the presentation. Everyone at my event was talking about the food for hours afterwards. We got an assortment of banh mi and the cabbage salad. The pork banh mi was INCREDIBLE. Annie was kind and communicative throughout the whole process. I can't recommend them enough!
Best tofu and mushroom Bahn mi in the area. I’ve been coming to this place since they were in Union Market and the quality has been consistent. Highly highly recommend!

Went to pick up for lunch tasted good. Interesting flavors, my girlfriend got the veggie sandwich which was amazing. I got the braised pork sandwhich which tasted good, but I do want to try the lemongrass- shrimp sandwich next time.
Stopped in for a quick bite mid-assignment and left with lighter pockets and mixed feelings. $13.50 got me two generously sized shrimp spring rolls and a can of Coke. Whether that’s a fair trade or a culinary con job—I’ll let you decide. The rolls were assembled fresh before my eyes, stuffed mostly with a very large and enthusiastic tangle of sticky white noodles, a few leaves of fresh lettuce and a confident handful of cilantro. As for the shrimp? Three pale little swimmers in each roll barely making their presence known. The flavor? Fresh. Clean. Polite. But a bit shy. Ambiance? Imagine easy jazz played just a touch too confidently in a window-box storefront—more sax than soul.
Like all the places in Union Market, this is a take out situation. Not the best situation for pho. Banana Blossom has no tables near its shop. The slaw salad was not very inspired. The spring roll was too loose.

I’m Vietnamese and eat pho all my life…so my comment might be a bit harsh… I was so excited to try this place since there isn’t too many pho options in this neighborhood. Unfortunately the meat ball pho was meh. I don’t understand why they used a veggie broth for a meat noodle soup. Seems like they are trying to please more people with veggie options, but they are definitely not making an authentic tasting pho. Pros: very nice staff and the restaurant looked very clean.
Unfortunately, the food misses the mark. The phở lacked the rich flavor and traditional spices that make this dish so special. It also falls short on depth and is missing traditional protein options like tripe and other cuts of meat typically found in authentic phở. The bánh mì was equally disappointing. The bread lacked the signature light, crispy crust and fluffy interior, feeling more like a generic sandwich roll. The fillings were sparse and uninspired, missing the balance of fresh herbs, pickled vegetables, and savory proteins that make a great bánh mì shine. It felt like a poor imitation rather than a true representation of this iconic dish.

I did not have a good experience here. While the atmosphere is nice (clean and welcoming), the customer service was unfriendly and the pho broth tastes nothing like a traditional broth. Additionally, they do not offer steak (tai) or brisket (nam) with the pho, only meatballs. I have never been to a pho restaurant that didn't at least offer pho tai - maybe that's on me for not checking the menu close enough before visiting. Their meatballs were tasty but unfortunately I could not enjoy the dish because the broth was so far from traditional flavors.
