L&L Hawaiian Barbecue

This is my favorite L&L and I think this is the best. Have to been multiple locations and the food here has the most authentic taste. Portions are most generous. Get my loco moco fix each and every time and family enjoys different kinds of mix-plates !! God Bless,

I came here during a week day, I accidentally dropped my home lunch 😅 so I walked it to this place nearby the job. The cashier girl was polite, I ordered a spam musubi and Katsu bowl. I was surprised at how cheap it was for a Hawaiian food place and the food was delicious. I loved how the katsu chicken was crispy and well cooked. I’d definitely come back.

Okay. Not the best. We ordered Chicken Katsu with Curry; the chicken was overcooked. Also got the BBQ mix, the meat to side ratio was 2:1. So that's good. However, some of the meat was salty. Overall, if you're looking to get your Hawaiian food fix, this place will do.

We had the meat combo and the bbq chicken meal. The chicken was cooked perfectly nice and moist, tender and great char from the grill. The meat combo also had chicken still great and the beef was a little tuff really skinny but great flavor. The pork was a little tender in the middle of the bones but hard and tough near the bones only got one piece so not very much. Also the pork had bone spurs all over it need to wash the pork first before seasoning and cooking would of helped it not have pieces of bone all over only reason not a five. The sauces were good fish sauce I think in them but good. Uncooked cabbage underneath meat not sure why it's not cooked or with cooked onions or something else.

As Hawaiian plate lunches go this is a great place. This particular spot, however, has very limited seating. Still it's one of our go to places when we're craving Hawaiian food. Can't go wrong here.

Beef teriyaki bowl is super salty. I think it's a recipe issue. Everywhere i go it's the same. Associate at the desk was friendly and quick.

Portions are huge and prices are fair. The proteins are always generous. Rice is perfectly cooked. Macaroni salad is great. They have excellent Laulau with huge amounts of meat! A combo plate is enough to feed a very hungry person or split with 2 people.

I'm from Hawaii and grew up eating at L&L so naturally I came here to get quick lunch with my brother. Place is TINY but there were a lot of foot traffic for take out orders. Price seems expensive. $5.89 for a mini plate and $7.89 for a regular. I guess times are tough. Nice place to grab a quick bite. Interior seems very "sticky" probably from all the deep frying going on. Only 18 seats inside. Seems to be family owned and operated. No public bqthroom access. I don't live in Pasadena but I would come here again but only because the food is solid with free refills on fountain drinks. Plqn to spend about $10 a person.

This place is only okay. The chicken didn't have a lot of flavor, the beef also was a bit on the bland and boring side. On top of that, the weight was a bit long but if you're looking for B level Hawaiian food then this place will suffice. The spam masubi also just was a massive amount of rice with very little spam. I don't think I would come here again, and I think Ono Hawaiian Barbecue is a big step up.

Only been here once. So far it's okay. I got the kalua pig with cabbage and it was way too salty. The rice and Mac was good. Had to throw most of the pig away once I ran out of rice to balance the salt. If not for the salt it would have been a good dish overall. The saimen beef noodles are ramen noodle soup but it were good. Good flavor broth and lots of beef. I liked that. I would definitely try this place again and maybe it will improve my rating.

Prices are incorrect for lunch plates on their website, a $3 difference on 1 item. They stated that they do not access to the site to change the listed prices. Be sure to confirm price when ordering as the difference is quite drastic. The food is delicious, staff is polite and wait time was next to nothing. Even during the lunch rush, my order was ready in only 10 mins for pick up.

The foods great, but if you say you are open until 10PM and a customer walks in at 9:45PM there is no way the kitchen should be "closed" already. I'm sure the owner would love to know that the staff elected to close up early, and negate the $40+ dollars we were about to spend at their establishment.

Pretty horrible experience. Called for take out and they didn’t have garlic shrimp OR white rice available. Seriously? I waited 20 minutes for rice and it was bad. Over cooked and undercooked at the same time, it was a gooey mess. Food quality wasn’t good and the prices for their items were on the expensive side. Wish I had gone to the food truck even down the street instead!

Had the garlic chicken dinner, the chicken was incredibly salty, couldn’t even finish it. The macaroni was flavourless. Overall, the food tasted old and not fresh. Would not recommend at all!

So, I've been a long time customer at this location. On or about 10/25/18 I stopped by with my wife and usual. Order the usual meal. Comes now, we sat outside as it was still daylight. I opened my meal box, started to cut the chicken...and had a bite. Hmmmm...I didn't taste as usual and it had a different aroma to it. Not a pleasant one I told my wife, I'm taking it back in and speak with cashier. I informed her about my situation. She took a look at it turned around and asked the cook. The gentleman immediately looked at me and said, there's nithing wrong with it! I said, I begged to differ. He then engaged with me and said, I don't recognize you? I've never seen you here before? I was like, huh?? I replied, I've been a long time customer and I've never seen you here!!! I don't into restaurant kitchens!!!! He then said, I know all my customers. I was baffled. What this had to do with my meal?? The cashier stepped in and said, would you like a refund? I said, no, thank you. I simply wanted a new order or cooked correctly or fresher. The cook seemed bother that I had a problem with it. The cashier did the right thing .I declined her offer and told her I wasn't looking for a free meal .I wanted the issue addressed and corrected. After all, I could have gotten I'll had I eat the meal . I'll never go back to this location and I'll let my family and friends know, to avoid it as well.

I went to this location tonight at 9:47 to order spam musubi and a side of macaroni salad. I was greeted when I walked in with a not so friendly "no more ordering and the grill is closed". I told them I just wanted the spam musubi and side of macaroni salad. The response was "we ran out of that earlier tonight". I requested to speak to a manager but there was not one until the morning. This was a very unpleasant experience. The staff was rude and felt that they did not care about the customer. All the wanted was to go home.

Insane how the cooks talk in the back. I highly recommend not bringing your children if youre coming here. These guys talk like they just got out of prison or are sailors or something. Super unprofessional. Cursing loud and saying the N word towards an African American employee. The manager needs to look into New cooks. Just Terrible.

This location always disappoints me. Hoping for better quality like other locations I've tried. Some how in this location my food comes out terrible the meat is dry not juicy it's like dried jerky that taste like a couple days old. It's like they pre cook the meat and zap all the juices out until they get an order and reheat the meat. Terrible just go to another location that cares about the quality of their food. I believe L&L is individually owned so the owner really should step up his game.

Where do I start? We usually love this location, but it does not live up to expectations anymore. Prices have not been increased, but it is clear that the quality has taken a hit in order to keep prices low. After placing our to-go order, we requested a few more sauces and the woman behind the counter scolded us by telling us, no no, you only get 2 sauces per meal and .55 cents per addition sauce. The sauces containers are much smaller than they used to be and are hardly half full. Back in the day, we were able to fill our own sauces containers out in the lobby. I understand the change due to covid, but why limit the quantity so significantly? We arrived home, dug into our meals only to be disappointed by soggy, mushy, hard, bland rice that was unpalatable. Who knew it was possible to have mushy rice, with the inside still hard The normally delicious mac salad was over cooked and had ZERO flavor. The BBQ beef was WAY over marinated and the katsu chicken was bland, but sadly still the best part of the meal. We were left feeling completely unsatisfied and wishing we had gone somewhere else. We will not be returning anytime soon unless some serious changes are made.

Maybe an Ohana BBQ because they are always on point with their food whenever I go to them.
