Opinions de Tortas Mexico Pasadena
Birria tacos are my kids favorite. I mean on this planet. I love the tortas although living close to here added about 10 lbs
Tortas Mexico catered my wedding for a very reasonable price compared to other places I looked into. Our wedding guests all loved the food, especially the potato tacos and the horchata! The folks at Tortas Mexico were so kind and accommodating in working with us to create a menu that worked for all our guests' dietary needs/preferences, and in managing logistics at our rugged, difficult-to-access venue. We hugely appreciate them coming through for us. Wonderful people, wonderful food!
I had chicken mole. It was sweet and spicy kind that I like. Indoor seating is limited, but you can sit at the outside tables along the corridor, or at picnic tables in the courtyard. The service was friendly and prompt.
Lovely food counter run by a warm and friendly family. The food is delicious (especially the carne asada torta according to the guests I've brought here). Very small indoor eating option, but there are picnic tables in the courtyard outside.
I've been eating breakfast at this delicious place for more than 10 years and it's the best! The owners are so friendly and the food is no fuss or wannabe. Just delicious and homey. Love it and will keep having the delicious chilaquiles.
Family owned small place. Excellent service and delicious food. I have been coming here for a year now and tend to get the same three or four items. But I have not gotten tired of it. The taste is very delicious and consistent. The owners are very down to earth people. I enjoy coming here.
Excellent food. The Tinga Chicken Tostada was outstanding! And the spicy salsa is amazing (as you can see from the photo). Only downside is that parking is tough. Also, they have great outdoor seating in the alley for Covid-19!
Other restaurants label themselves as "authentic Mexican" when they really are tex-mex (NOT the same thing); this place is legit really authentic Mexican. The tortas, even the rice and beans are very much like home cooking (my parents are Mexican immigrants and we grew up with the food). Best Torta Cubana I've had- they are widely known for their tortas as well as the enchiladas de mole. They have Mexican (glass-bottled) Coke, but also delicious aguas frescas (we enjoyed the horchata). The service was excellent: super polite, friendly, and attentive. I wouldn't be surprised if we were serviced by the owner because he was enjoying every moment and really cared about our experience. It took me back to Jalisco and Michoacan, where my aunts would make me tortas in the same style and pamper me to the point of forgetting where I was lol. Go here!
Don't Judge a Book by the Cover. This restaurant may not seem attractive from the store front but the food is GREAT!!!!I was there in July 2024
Tortas Mexico is a fantastic spot for authentic Mexican food! The flavors are rich and fresh, and the tortas are some of the best I’ve ever had. The service is top-notch—friendly, fast, and welcoming. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable, making it an incredible value. If you’re craving real, high-quality Mexican food, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!
Traditional and tasty options. The portions are generous and the food was great!
I had try most of their Tortas but my favorite is the CUBANA.
Small resturant located in the heart of Ole Pasadena. Best torta I have ever tasted. Everything was fresh and made to order. Staff was very kind and welcoming. They also have some really great salsa. I will definitely be back if I'm in the area.
This restaurant is wonderful!! Food is delicious, warm, and made with such rich flavors. The service is lovely they are always nice and greet me with a smile. The decor in the restaurant is really nice and homey, you can tell they founded Tortas Mexico with love and care. Highly highly recommend giving this place a try if you want authentic, delicious Mexican food. When I walked in there were 2 abuelitas eating menudo, so you know it’s good.
Small place with a great Mexican breakfast on a Sunday morning. Had huevos y chorizo and the birrria con chilaquiles and a great horchata. Highly recommend for breakfast. Staff was super nice and the timing was quick
Very good food, great service! Authentic Mexican flavor. Had the quesabirrias, perfect mix of crunchy tortillas and soft warm cheese and birria. My gf had the chilaquiles, green salsa was great! Guava water was very fresh and tasty! Overall great experience.
Although specializing in Tortas, their tacos are incredibly underrated with their al pastor being especially sweet, savory, & delicious. Highly recommend this establishment when in downtown Pasadena especially with the fair prices matching the portion sizes.
Authentic, no fuss Mexican food. They've got yummy tortas (steak sandwiches) as the name implies but also burritos, tacos, and an array of other Mexican treats. The homemade salsa is delish and just like mom made. (Well, my mom anyway.) Great, friendly service to boot. Give this place a shot!
Small place but huge flavor! My friend had the Cuban Torta and said it was one of the best he's eaten. I tried the Mole Enchaladas and it was so good! Very nice place, great people and fantastic food!
Wow the Tortas here are very good! I was really impressed with the quality of the food. Very nice little Mexican restaurant. Indoor & outdoor seating. The owner made a great recommendation and ordered the Milanesa torta. So good 👍
Made a quick stop here for lunch. A great little shop, plenty of menu options. I went with a Torta, and wasn't let down at all. Great size, all the usual fixings and a taste well worth the price. Wait time under ten minutes, and that was with three orders placed just before mine. Worth another visit!
Checked out this spot on a whim after visiting Norton Simon Museum, what a wonderful spot with delicious food and friendly employees. I got Tacos de Papa (golden-fried potato tacos) and they we hot and fresh with cotija cheese and sauce. My friend got chicken tacos with salsa verde and he loved every bite. I can’t wait to go back to try more of their food. Don’t sleep on this lovely Mexican spot in the heart of Old Town Pasadena
I was so hungry after a workout and this did the trick and more. Thank you for serving a wholesome breakfast. Oh and the cafe de olla was spot on. Felt like home.
Great little Mexican restaurant. There is seating inside and out, and the menu includes classic options (including vegetarian options). The staff is friendly and the food was delicious and served quickly.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Pasadena. We’ve tried a lot of their dishes but my favorite is the birria. So good! Highly recommend.
The spicy chicken tacos were outstanding. Simple seasoning with a great salsa and corn tortillas. The gentleman at the register and wonderful cook in the back were so pleasant. The exact quality and experience you hope from a smaller spot like this!
Friendly service and delicious authentic food. Found this place after my grandma’s eye appointment and she’s a picky eater. There were lots vegetarian options, I had the Oaxaca style mole enchiladas. My grandma loved it. We will be back! The inside is small but fine for small parties of 4. Clean and the service was fantastic.
Awesome small local place, 2nd time getting lunch there, quality ingredients, great tasting, fresh, I had a small request in the way it was prepared and they did no problem, I dont usually write reviews, they're worth it!! cant wait to try breakfast soon!! Thank You Tortas Mexico!!

Excellent customer service and my pick up order was on time and hot. Perhaps I should have ordered their specialty. The hard shell tacos were both dry and greasy. The flavor was good, but they left out the cheese. I'll still give them another try and perhaps get an actual Torta next go around.
I think the amount of food we got was good for what we paid. It wasn't bad food, it just seemed like it didn't have much flavor. The carne al pastor was definitely disappointing according to my husband. I hope other things on the menu are better.
I’ve never had a torta before. So let’s see if they’re pretty good eh or ew. This place is family owned and operated and I got their cubana torta with a side of refried beans cuz yall know I’m a bean fiend and theses beans were good. Savory, creamy, thick, and yummy. The torta cubana had a good amount of carnitas and a slice of ham that kinda got lost in there. The bread was pretty fluffy and airy. It tasted comforting and like the sandwiches my dad would give me for school. Tho I don’t think those were tortas tho- still very yummy tho. This place is pretty good.
Authentic Mexican food that was just delicious! We ordered The chorizo tortas, Cubana tortas, chicken tamales and beef Taquitos all of which where well spiced and very tasty. The tortas which is like a Mexican sandwich is done using bread that’s baked daily, and came out beautifully crisp on the outside and soft from the inside. The tamales was excellent. Their sauces are a must try and both the mild and spicy sauces were very flavorful. The place is a small, family owned location and feels very Mexican and is clean. The owner was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. If you’re looking for a family owned, authentic Mexican place…this is it!

A small place in old town but not as I expected. I was hoping for more authentic taste but I had the worst wet burrito. Found 2 hairs in burrito that affected my appetite. Nachos were alright and the staff was welcoming so 2* for that.
The flavor is lacking, it's very bland, very safe. Not necessarily authentic, but average. Idk what the hype is. We ordered tacos de asada, which should be a classic staple at ANY Mexican restaurant, but not here, they were wack. The al pastor was a joke, maybe too much pineapple? It wasn't what I had imagined. We also had the quesabirria taco. It lacked flavor. Very sad. I don't imagine eating here again. Glad others have had a great experience. The ambiance is cute, the staff is friendly and they accept card payment. They offer an outside seating area and plenty of other Mexican themed food. Lol
Pretty bad experience all around. I feel like theyre so much in a rush that they don't even pay any attention or care about the product that they are actually delivering. I specifically asked for a burrito and nothing was in it that I asked for. Was pretty terrible. It taste of the food wasn't so good and it's totally not worth it.
The food was not authentic at all and it was overpriced. I get that everything in Pasadena is not culturally authentic , but for a place that I'd marked as cheap the quality was bad. If you want authentic good quality tasting food you need to go to down town Los Angeles
Didn’t greet me when I came in. The lady was in front of me and didn’t ask me for my order so I left. Customer service is 0
Awful taco. We couldn’t even finish one. Oil was dripping from the crispy shell. The beef was burnt and dry and tasteless. It was the worst taco I’ve ever had in my life.
Coffee is thin, essentially dark brown water. I asked for a breakfast burrito (which comes with a coffee) but if they could substitute al pastor for the chorizo. She stated it would be more. Sure, a couple bucks is fine. $14 extra. $14. A breakfast burrito is $13.99 Looking at the receipt, she charged also for coffee which was supposed to be included.
