The property is located on a cliff and so you can enjoy breathtaking views during lunch and from the room (if you get a sea facing one). The room was very spacious and modern bathroom. The view was incredible, straight of the sea, and the sounds of the waves at night ensured a proper sleep. The hotel manager Dee was fantastic and also took our dinner order over the phone as we were going to check in late. Always helpful with tips of where to visit and always happy to help! All the staff were very friendly!! Bonus was the sea gull every morning knocking for a bite! Very tasty food even for vegetarians. Must stay if you are in Newquay!!
Another fabulous stay at this beautiful place, different room this time, and as gorgeous as the previous, we book the superior ocean view rooms and they are stunning, endless ocean views, rooms set out beautifully, we take our elderly little dog. And there is a bed a bowl and a complimentary bag containing treats a ball and bags, such a lovely touch. Delicious food and really friendly staff from Helen in reception to restaurant and bar to house keeping, they can't do enough for you. It's officially one of my top happy places. Can't wait to return again. If I could give more than 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I would
Our stay at Lewinnick Lodge went beyond expectations. The receptionist, Helen, greeted us with such a warm welcome and was kind enough to show us our bedroom, delivered an abundance of knowledge about Newquay and even reserved us a dinner/breakfast table just incase we decided to dine in last minute. Our bedroom was beautifully designed with a spacious and comfortable bed with a walk in shower, bathtub and his & hers vanity. In addition, our partial sea view room had incredible views of the coast. Though our stay was a little windy and drizzly in the evening, it was idyllic for us to be in our cosy room, have a bath and watch some Saturday Night TV in bed to relax before a long drive home. Thank you so much to the team at Lewinnick Lodge who made our little staycation so memorable - we can’t wait to come again!
Recommended by a friend, it was a good as she said. We booked a luxury double, which I highly recommend. Room was beautiful, quiet and the view was amazing, even when bad weather hit. There is a lift to the lower floor for those with accessibility issues (or heavy suitcases). Situated towards the end of Pentire Headland, the southwest coastal path is two minutes walk; it's a 40 minute walk to Newquay. The bar terrace is fantastic, both bar and restaurant are great. One small moan: only two veggie options for a main meal: lentils and cabbage (admittedly nicely cooked) or bean burger...sigh. However, the staff were great and no other gripes. Ooh and fresh milk for tea and coffee in the rooms. Will definitely go again.
We enjoyed a family Sunday lunch in the restaurant. From the moment we walked in the service was exceptional and friendly. The food was delicious and we enjoyed a very good bottle of wine to wash it down. We all agreed it was a great experience and look forward to repeating it in the future. Thank you to your marvellous staff.
Five stars for Lewinnick Lodge! We had a truly wonderful and memorable stay for my husband's birthday last year. The staff were so friendly and kind, and they even left a lovely birthday card for him in the room, which was such a personal touch. The quality here is exceptional. We had one of the best rooms, and the view from the bedroom was absolutely stunning. You won't find better scenery! We also found the restaurant food to be absolutely delicious. Everything about our visit, from the welcoming service to the incredible location, was perfect. Highly recommended.
We came here for a few nights my friend’s birthday and we loved everything about it. Our room, a superior oceanside was quite marvelous, with a view to die for. The restaurant as well delivered with excellent meals everytime, we were mighty impressed. The service from the staff was simply lovely. I would definitely recommend to a friend.
Honestly this is one of the nicest places I have stayed! The service was amazing from start to finish, there was a small electrical error with the booking but the team sorted it straight away and made sure my partner and I had the amazing break away! The food is second to none! Highly recommend to anyone and everyone! We booked for an early birthday getaway and it was worth it! Thank you ❤️
We had a wonderful stay at Lewinnick lodge and would happily return. The sea view is absolutely stunning, waking up to the ocean every morning was a highlight of our trip. The amenities were excellent and thoughtfully maintained, making the stay both comfortable and relaxing. The staff were consistently polite, friendly, and helpful, which really added to the overall experience. We also appreciated how 🐾dog-friendly the hotel is; our 2 dogs were genuinely welcomed, not just tolerated. A great choice for anyone looking for comfort, great views, and warm hospitality. 🌊
We visited back in November for a luxury one night stay, this place truly delivered! Absolutely beautiful location, the views from our room were stunning and the room was absolutely perfect and finished to a high standard with a comfortable and spacious bed. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the receptionist we encountered during booking she really went the extra mile. We can’t wait to go back and stay again.
We had the most lovely stay in this boutique hotel. We were a bit nervous as it was our first trip away with a newborn but we didn't need to be as everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are very large which was perfect for our travel cot and pram. The bed was comfy and the shower was amazing - we also loved the soap. The views are stunning and we even saw a seal from our room when we arrived. We were there for 3 nights and had dinner each night in the restaurant - the food was delicious and the staff so kind. Breakfast was brilliant as well and finally a hotel with decent coffee - loved the cappuccino in the morning. Location is brilliant because of the views and you can take a lovely walk around the cliffs and beach to the town. All in all we hope to come back here again.
Amazing location. Super friendly staff. Well kept beer and good food. Dog friendly.
Came here for a late lunch with a good friend and two dogs. We both ordered the ceaser salad and enjoyed it very much plenty of chicken. We were pleased to have a window table as the location is beautiful. Service was friendly and efficient would definitely come back again
Fantastic views, super friendly staff. Food was delicious we stopped for breakfast. Reasonably priced, gets very busy glad we reserved a table.
Completely booked out but managed to find us a table and produced our meal within 20 minutes. Lovely team, great food ... worth finding if you are in the area.
The best roast in a very long time. Whether it's for a drink, something to eat or a stay Lewinnick Lodge fits the bill. Excellent value and the perfect place to visit all year round.
Beautifully situated restaurant and lodge. We ate at the restaurant. The food was delicious, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The scones and clotted cream were the best I ever had. High recommendation. Full stars!
Me and my Wife Stayed one night and it was our favourite place during our time in Newquay. Upon check in we were greeted by a friendly member of staff. We were very lucky to be offered an upgrade during our stay to which we were so grateful! The staff member took us to the room and made us feel so welcome. The room was perfect, spacious and had everything you could want. The bathroom was massive and so was the room. It also had a pair of binoculars to look out at the coast! (As well as the teas and coffee - fresh milk was kept in a fridge just outside the room which was a nice touch) We had some breakfast the following morning which was included in our booking, plenty of options to choose from (including some great vegetarian options). Overall our stay was short but sweet. We will definitely be looking to return in the future.
My husband and I travel a lot and to be honest we're really picky with hotels. So the fact that Lewinnick Lodge has become our favourite place to visit really shows the quality. We now visit 3-4 times a year, when we come to visit family in Cornwall, sometimes staying in the sister hotel, The Plume of Feathers too. The rooms are wonderful, spacious, incredible views, deep baths and all of the amenities you would need. The beds are so comfortable (and HUGE!) so I'm always looking forward to a proper rest in them. We love being able to pop up to the restaurant and have a delicious dinner and drink before heading back to bed, and the breakfast is a great standard in the morning, with high quality coffee. As the lodge is situated along the cliff, it often feels like we're on a secluded boat in the middle of the sea. A walk around the cliff top to watch the sunset is a must. We are always so well looked after by the very kind receptionist - at Christmas time, the rest of my family also decided to stay and we had our Christmas meal & breakfast together. I mentioned ahead of time that my Gran was loosing her sight, so could they consider that when selecting rooms, and the receptionist really went above and beyond with this, giving my Gran the brightest possible room, with easy access, and showing her lots of possible options. It was so wonderful to know she was going to be safe when she was nervous being away from home, and much appreciated. Thank you Lewinnick, see you again soon!
My husband and I came here for breakfast on our 3rd wedding anniversary and we’re so glad we did. The view is spectacular, the food was incredible and the coffee was strong, hot and delicious! They even catered to our son’s allergies which we really appreciated. Also, the high chair was super clean and not caked with old food like lots of other places. Thank you for a lovely breakfast, we will definitely be back!
A few of us did a short sojourn along the Pentire Peninsula to the Headland and stopped in at Lewinnick Lodge on the way back to the car park for a pint. Lewinnick Lodge has a large, yet cozy area with tables for folks to enjoy eating (various sized portions of food from small bites to bigger ones) and a great bar. We sat at the bar and some of us had Guinness while one had G&Ts - which were very artistically created. The bar and wait staff are all friendly and great at what they do. They made us feel welcome and served us quite quickly (as they did those at the tables). We enjoyed sitting at the bar for a bit before heading on our way. We did not stay in the Lodge itself, but now I kind of want to.
What a fantastic way to spend the new year’s lunch! Incredible food, great atmosphere. When we are back down in Newquay we will be sure to come back! They also allow dogs in the bar area but it feels like you are sat in the restaurant still! We had a great table overlooking the views!
Lovely location for a coffee stop on a wonderful walking route by the coast. Highly recommend the coffee and vegan pancakes. More vegan options would be welcomed too 🙂🌿
Attended this evening, Sunday Roast Menu. 4 of us, 2 courses, drinks & coffees ☕️ Good food 😋, great location as the sun set on Pentire, Newquay.
Just stopped for an early dinner, food is excellent, service superb and views to die for
This is our go to for a coffee after work. Fantastic views, relaxing atmosphere. I can't comment on the rooms we didn't stay there.
We live in Newquay and haven’t been to the Lewinnick for a long time and we enjoyed it then and now. Birthday dinner, (and the menu up to date on their website,) my daughter had the sirloin steak medium rare and it was perfectly done. I had the trout which was delicious in a lovely sauce. We shared the banoffi cheese cake which was so divine we forgot to take a picture. Bank holiday weekend so very busy, nice vibe, nice decor. Casual dress accepted. A nice evening out.
Had a really lovely Sunday lunch here with excellent views. Service was great.
A Truly Exceptional Stay with Unbeatable Views First and foremost, this hotel may have plenty of competition, but nothing can rival this view. Absolutely breathtaking — overlooking the sea, with beautiful walks right on your doorstep. What I loved most is that it’s not pretentious and not overpriced — just full of genuinely friendly people who go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. A special thank you to Dee, who quite literally went out of her way to organise emergency bedding for two Boardmasters evacuees. She was truly lovely and even ensured we had priority to charge our EV while we were there. The Food The food was outstanding. A Sunday roast in a restaurant rarely matches the one you make at home — but here, it was an absolute winner. The restaurant team were just as warm and welcoming as the rest of the hotel. The Room We stayed in Room 8, a spacious, beautifully decorated room with a gorgeous bathroom and partial sea views — though even “partial” here is stunning. Everywhere in the hotel, including the patio, is designed with comfort in mind. They’ve resisted the temptation to cram in as many tables as possible, favouring customer satisfaction over maximising revenue. The Details That Matter From the generous space in the rooms to the free honesty bar, every little touch makes you feel welcome. It’s clear the priority here is ensuring guests have an exceptional experience from start to finish. Thank you again to Dee and the whole team for being so incredible. We will definitely be back — and I recommend this place wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a memorable seaside escape.
What a beautiful place! Rooms are lovely, staff is welcoming and restaurant have a beautiful view ! I loved it ! Many thanks
Had a fabulous meal here ,staff very attentive and food excellent, great views ,weren’t staying here ,but restaurant was recommended to us and it was superb ,staff excellent will be back ,from Scotland .
Had a great meal here lovely fresh seafood excellent service and accommodated a late booking. Amazing views from the restaurant.
I came here for a family evening, was a fantastic time and staff was amazing and food tasted fresh and delicious. Would definitely come again.
We tried the restaurant and it's quite popular when we visited it. The food we ordered are lovely, worth to visit. Free parking as well.
Great staff. Really helpful. Really attentive. Really well catered for as a diagnosed coeliac. I felt the risotto main course for me was salty a bit sloppy. Very cheesy to. Views lovely.
Saturday lunch. It’s a beautiful location with stunning views. I’m local so knew that. But. One very obvious, glaring & off putting thing. The state of the chairs! Fabric covered & heavily marked on both the arms & seat. The restaurant is very child friendly, kids spill food, so do adults now & then but these look grim. There are companies that clean upholstery, diy gadgets, or worse case replace the chairs! 🤢 The food, it’s good, plates could do with being warmer tho the food was hot. My spinach hadn’t been drained quite well enough, but all in all it was fine. Would we go back? For coffee probably but for food, I’m unsure. I’d like a clean chair please!!
Location is beautiful, The service at the restaurant was very good. Unfortunately, the quality of the food doesn't match the price. The burger we had wasn't best, the meat was dry inside. The steak was completely underwhelming; the doneness was okay, but otherwise, it was stringy, and half of it was fat. The dessert redeemed everything, and it was very tasty.
We are on holiday at Cornwall. My friend who live there suggests me to go here. Yes the view is stunning. From the main road towards to the restaurant is beautiful view. Pleanty of car park. Bad is busy. We sat at the restaurant as we want to try the meal. Food taste delicious. It's a bit quiet that time as we were there around 3pm but it getting crowded. It's nice place to eat, especially table by the window.
Lovely location with great headland views when not dark. Great quality food and a lovely relaxed ambience and friendly efficient staff.
Absoluteluy stunning views! Food is good. Felt a bit rushed for the Sunday carvery. The acoustics inside the restaurant are poor and we had a trainee waiter who dipped his finger in the horse radish(!), but if the weather is fine, eating outside is definitely the way to go!
Firstly food was absolutely incredible. Service is a bit of an odd one. Not really that busy but everything just took such a long time. Longer to get desserts out than mains. Servers just seemed a bit disinterested. But overall to say it wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good either in terms of service. Great views and incredible food.
Great food & drinks, great views. The service is OK. It can be hard to catch someone's eye, even when they're all hanging around the till area doing nothing. Under these circumstances at least one of them should be working the restaurant in case a customer needs something. Perhaps the management could implement this.
The location is lovely, view is stunning. Service was very slow for Sunday lunch. I appreciate Sunday lunchtime is always busy, however we seemed to get ignored until I pointed it out to a staff member. The food came very quickly, before our drinks even arrived! The roast was ok, not particularly hot, not the best we’ve ever had. Only 2 roast potatoes was a bit disappointing for the price.
⭐️⭐️ Stunning views, but food and service fell short Visited as diners around 2:30 PM — not hotel guests — and unfortunately, the experience was a letdown. Food: ⭐️⭐️ Pasta was bland, though the seafood was fresh. Shrimp cocktail was tasteless. The gammon ham toastie was decent, but dessert (Black Forest meringue) tasted like it came from a packet — no real effort. Service: ⭐️⭐️ Despite the restaurant being quiet, service was extremely slow. Staff were polite and did replace the pasta with a hair in it. Atmosphere / View: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Easily the best part. The view is absolutely spectacular — perfect spot for a drink and soaking in the scenery. Would I return? Not for the food. And based on this dining experience, I wouldn’t consider staying at the hotel either. Great for a scenic drink, but that’s about it.
We live in Newquay and have dined at Lewinnick several times over the years, but on this occasion we left feeling very disappointed, the service was incredibly slow and the young man didn't seem to know much about the menu, when asked what the seasonal vegetables were he replied "lettuce and stuff", the drinks did arrive quite quickly to be fair but the sparkling water was forgotten and we had to ask again. The starters once they arrived (around 40 mins after we ordered them) were very nice. Myself and mum both ordered the smoked haddock and leek fish pie, there was no sign of any leek in it or fish for that matter, there was 2 prawns and the rest was mashed potato with no chunks of fish in sight, it was unenjoyable and I left most of it, no one checked back on us so I wasn't able to say anything, when the young man cleared the table I did point this out to him and he shrugged his shoulders and said oh, he came back to clear the rest of the table and mum also said how there was no fish in it and he told her that the kitchen said there was plenty of fish in it! This left us all totally gobsmacked, that one they had said that, and two that he had been so abrupt in how he said it. We did have desserts which were good, except we would have expected the sticky toffee to be served warm not cold, but maybe thats how you decide to serve it? We had to ask for the bill several times and again to actually pay, servers walked past and ignored us several times before actually wanting to take our money. Such a shame as you're on our doorstep but we won't be returning anytime soon.
We visited Lewinnick Lodge for dinner this evening after having been for breakfast in the past. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed by both the food and the service. We ordered the miso cod which was lacking in any Asian flavours and served on top of a whole baked sweet potato with some pak choi which was soggy and flavourless. We also had the fish pie which was good but served with overcooked vegetables and the pork belly and prawn saganyaki which were both average. When we gave our feedback to the waitress and the supervisor on duty, neither did anything to rectify the situation. We will not be returning.
Really disappointing Sunday roast. We ordered two vegan options, but the portions were so small they’d barely satisfy a five-year-old. Each meal came with just three tiny half roast potatoes that looked and tasted like they came from a frozen bag. Despite requesting vegan meals, both plates arrived with Yorkshire puddings that clearly contained egg. The shared vegetable bowl for all five roasts also included cheesy cauliflower — again, not vegan. The vegetables and gravy were decent, but the chicken was overcooked and the roast potatoes were a complete letdown. Our waiter didn’t seem to know the difference between lager and beer — surely that’s basic staff training. I don’t like to leave negative reviews, but this was the worst £100 I’ve spent in a while.
The reason I’m giving a 2 start review is because we had to wait around 1h and 30m before we got served. The waiters were apologetic about the fact and said sorry multiple times for the delay- which we really appreciated. However, we arrived there at 7:15 and got served around 9:20, just home now at 10:30. I feel like I’ve been ripped off my time and the food was good but very expensive. If we had balcony seating this would be worthwhile as it’s truly a beautiful location. But we were seated inside with no ocean views and only a view of the bar.
Quite disappointing! It was my partners special 40th birthday. We are not from the area but I wanted to make this really special. Unfortunately this was not the outcome I'd wished for. The service was OK, but wasn't really attentive. The cocktails starter looked nice but clearly wasn't what we asked for!... The price of the food was certainly not reflected in the quality. I had to send back my dishes as the Calamari squid salt and pepper dish was soggy deep fried mush with no taste... and the broccoli side was a wasted plate with no taste and little flavour. The view over the sea is certainly the pull to this beautiful and what could be stunning restaurant. Over priced with food that needed to be sent back. Poor, I'm sorry to have to write this but true.
Lovely place, lovely room, amazing views. Dee was really helpful and an amazing host and helped us secure a last minute booking, and radiated an amazing energy. But thats where the positives stop, food was below average, housekeeping was subpar, rubbish and food from last night were kept in-room after cleaning, windows were left open which turned the room into an insect zoo. No bellboy or staff at night to help with the insects incident or checking out and the alternative manager upon checking out was the least helpful…
1 star review not based on the hotel, location or staff but data security. We come here regularly. Last year they had a security hack and after we booked we got an email requesting payment from a hacked source. This was raised at the time with LL and we were told to pay by phone and they apologised, citing the issue had been resolved. We have booked again this year and to our astonishment, the same thing has happened again. How a business can ignore such a secuirty compromise, let alone ignore their GDPR obligations is completely beyond me. I love the LL but this has really got us wondering if we want to keep coming back if the company don't care about our data security!
