Our service was excellent everyone was so nice and the food was delicious. Such a hidden gem all the produce tasted like it came fresh from a farm. Definitely adding this to my list of favs for when I am visiting the coast.

Excellent food and drinks and our server Sonya was so incredibly sweet and knowledgeable about the resort and we will for sure be coming back.

Food is pretty good for a restaurant in hotel. Need to staff up though for holiday as it was clearly slow due to understaff with a full restaurant in holidays.

This is truly a hidden gem. Stopped here for lunch. The “Dirty Fries” were delicious!Made with fresh ingredients and chopped up garlic. Simply exquisite! Our waitress Patsy was fun and provided excellent service. The burger was great and the salmon avocado 🥑 toast just as delicious! Highly recommend. This place is literally off the beaten path. Worth the drive. Just off PCH.

Went there to celebrate a birthday. This is beautiful restaurant in a beautiful space and rustic look. The atmosphere was nice and quiet. I wish I took more pictures! Their service is really good and very sweet staff. Highly recommend the fried chicken sandwich and the breakfast pie. Perfect date place including the drive to the place

What an amazing dining experience! Clam chowder is the best I have ever had...and I have had many. Artichoke, and other dishes were top as well. Can't wait to go back

Great food and atmosphere but our steak came smothered in A1 sauce, not a fan. Should be an optional condiment.

Found this place on the way to the beach and we were both surprised finding such a great spot. The food was really good and though the service started off slow, by the end of the meal it was all good. I highly recommend finding this place. Get the omlette.

The French dip was good, but please put sauce on the side. !!!!the sandwich was real mush with sauce all over the bun. And French dip sauce was thick hmmm🤔was not a normal French dip.

I stayed at Costanoa for four nights for a dear friend's wedding and was very impressed with the Cascade Restaurant and Bar. I looked forward to eating there for brunch (Huevos Rancheros, Chilaquiles Verde) every day and then had a few delicious dinners as well. I highly recommend this spot if you want high quality meals, fresh and flavorful. All the wedding guests were raving about it as well. Even if you're not staying at Costanoa, I recommend as a pit stop if you're in the area!

Cozy With A Touch of Class. Friendly staff and tasty food. We've only eaten breakfast there so I only tagged the two items we've had with the breakfast that we've eaten there. They're not really french fries they're called something else Maybe bravos?

Okay, even if you just go in and have a drink... Be sure and ask for Jimbo. He's fabulous, personable, professional, fast & makes an outstanding mai thai! Yum! I want to do a shout out to Patricia she is in server there and she is awesome! There's nothing she doesn't know about the menu. I highly recommend their crab cake it is only one but it is a meal and it's wonderful. It is a cozy place, a great place for kids with coloring sheets and take home a little packets of crayons individually wrapped. You can also send the kids outside to run around on the grass it's great! Day or night night time it's all lit up daytime it's just gorgeous! Right across from the ocean. Put honestly! Don't miss out on Jimbo's cocktails and knowledge of their extensive wine list. :)

Beautiful place and beautiful service! My first impression was it was very fancy and would probably be expensive. The host greeted us with open arms and talked to us like the place was open just for us and he chose the seating by the fireplace for us. The menu was very fairly priced, food brought out quickly and was beautiful. Definately loved it.

Delicious place with kind staff. We came here the night before Valentines for dinner, and had breakfast the next day. The potatoes fries and breakfast potatoes were delicious! The vegetables we're prepared so well with lots of flavor. The rib eye was perfectly done and tasty. Can't wait to come back here again.

Service were horrible, food came out wrong. I truly don't think I'll be back. UPDATE--- I've since been back...and the waitress was no longer there... I'm really glad to report that I can now change my rating to 5 stars! Service was awesome, food was extremely delicious! Everything was perfect. Always bumps in some roads I guess, but we must keep traveling....👍😁👍

Solid place with good food. Service gets a little dicey when it is busy. Busy meaning the restaurant and upstairs are packed. I think they aren't used to that much traffic in a night and aren't staffed accordingly. Otherwise a good place for a nice meal.

On the way back from Pie Farm we were hungry so decided to stop here as it was just off Highway 1. I'm glad we did. The setting is beautiful and the service was outstanding. I had smoked salmon with an avacado spread over toast. It was delicious and the serving was just right. My friend had a burger that he was pleased with. I wish I didn't live three hours away or I would be back regularly for the meal I had.

OMG what a hidden gem! You must try this place! The site is beautiful, also includes cabins & campsites for rent. The food was excellent (tomato soup & grilled cheese w bacon for mom, beet & kale salad w salmon for me). Our server was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was so peaceful on a gorgeous, cloudy day (Thursday lunch). We will definitely be back!

I enjoyed the scallop entree. The sauce was fresh and just rich enough, but not heavy. The scallops were mid size and perfectly cooked. The homemade squid ink pasta was divine, perfectly cooked tender, and delicious! Service could have been more attentive.

This review is for the pine tent, which I think is part of Cascade restaurant. Cascade, Restaurant and Pine tent are both located in the Costanoa glamping resort. we live in Santa Cruz and have been coming up here for a little retreat every now and then for the last 10 years or so. Last year we were here with 15 kiddos for our daughters birthday celebration and order a bunch of pizzas. Unfortunately, they were pretty horrible and we ended up many leftover pizzas to take home. I think they eventually got fed to our chickens. We spent the night here at Costanoa last night and as we were hanging around near the Pine tent, I saw some pizzas that looked very different so we decided to order a bunch. They were amazing! Like the real deal that you would expect at a high-end Pizzeria. We also ordered spicy chicken wings and meatballs. Everything was excellent and there were no leftovers. Our only issue is that they did not accept Apple card, I didn't have my wallet on me. Staff was helpful and holding our order and we figured it out. The kids also loved the soft serve, and it's only three dollars. Normally don't write yelp reviews anymore, but we were just really excited about the improvements!

Been going to Cascade for years. It’s under new management and has a new menu. I had the BEST meal I’ve ever had! I am vegan and they now offer vegan options. I no longer have to finagle something to eat. And it was GOOD, and filling! Roasted Cauliflower with Lentils with Garlic Tahini Dressing.) My husband had a kale salad with a peanut sauce dressing. He added grilled chicken. Jim, the bartender, is second to none. A kind, thoughtful and outgoing guy who pays attention to the details. Frankie went out of his way to make an excellent cappuccino while Jim was busy. Luis is the chef that has created a menu which is leveled-up and delicious and Cascade’s pastry chef is excellent! Laurel, the food and beverage manager, is keeping the place running smoothly after the recent ownership transition and continuing to help make it a draw. Check it out. You won’t be disappointed!

We arrived without reservation and were welcomed very warmly and requested a table with a view. Erin, our waiter did us one better and moved a table and 3 chairs outside on the lawn for us to eat at. Food was great, view was great and Erin was amazing. Thank you!

While visiting Costanoa with my husband we dined at Cascade and really enjoyed our meal! We tried the sticky ribs, miso caesar, bacon wrapped dates and crispy fish tacos! The sauce on the ribs was unique and tasty and the crispy fish tacos had really nice halibut inside. Service was quick and friendly and we enjoyed our cocktails as well! Breakfast burritos the next morning were good too. We'll be back!

This restaurant offers one of the most spectacular views I’ve ever experienced. Our waitress, Erin, went truly above and beyond to make our visit unforgettable. She actually moved our table right next to the water so we could have the perfect view—something I’ve never had a server do before. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Erin stood out as one of the absolute best. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our lunch special. Highly recommend!

What a great discovery. Located near the ocean and Surrounded by the eucalyptus grove. The whole area is just wonderful. The restaurant himself has lovely indoor and outdoor seating. Fireplaces and fresh flowers make it even more perfect. The food is outstanding too! Love every bite I had. Oysters a fresh and come with tasty accompaniments. And that Cioppino (seafood stew) is a must 😍 service also was great. Fast and friendly 🫶🏻 definitely coming here again!

Was here a corporate event and had a sit down dinner one night in this restaurant. Was expecting mediocre meal but the experience was totally different. First the menu was pretty extensive and everything looked good, and actually tasted pretty good. Our party ordered different items on the menu (roasted salmon, Brussels sprouts, artichoke) but the best was undoubtedly the winner winner chicken, which was really good fried chicken that is offered only on certain days. Definitely worth visiting when in the area.

J
Jaymes Peddie

it feels like an upscale place, but with a very relaxed and inviting aura. The food was great too. We had the crab cakes, calamari, chicken strips (for the kid), a big seafood platter with crab, fish, shrimp and clams, banana bread pudding, and lastly a short rib pasta. Everything was good. If you're on highway 1, this is a worthwhile stop for sure.

Ate at the bar. The chicken sandwich was really good. Lots of space outside on a good weather day to enjoy the space. They get quite busy so if you don’t want to eat at the bar, you may need to reserve in advance.

We have driven by a million times only to think it was a restaurant that was either very expensive (fancy sign) and/or for guests only of the resort. Today looking for a beach to go to I decided to go to the website and look at the menu, it was reasonably priced and when we got there the portions were very good sized. Not to mention, Patsy who served us was super friendly, great suggestions and even brought another plate to separate the salad from my chicken and waffles. She is a pro! My spouse and I both enjoyed our food, the service and the Bloody Mary's were delicious too. We finished up with a small walk around the grounds and we are definitely coming back with friends for food and may be a get away. Thank you!

The manager Alex was great. Checked on us multiple times. The staff were friendly and efficient! We had a table by the fireplace which was so romantic. What a perfect evening. Camped here so and had a minute away from the family to try the cioppino. First the setting is great and the food is 5 star. The 1 star removed for the staff. Customer service should be better from a place like this.

G
Guru D

Ok if you're staying here im sure the extra star would apply. The food was good but not stand out, i liked the hot bread. Dont sit next to the mirror by the door as its not only a lil chilly but the constant comings n goings of peeps is distracting. Especially the kids that for no reason whatsoever like to hold the door open like their hot flashing and need the evening cold to cool themselves. Its also kinda loud. I had the pot pie and couldn't say for sure if the meat was actually chicken (it was good just indistinguishable) ordered a side of jalapeno mac n cheese and it never made my receipt or my table. I will have to say it was a holiday weekend and they were certainly busy. I saw glad i didn't order the crab mac as i would have been really upset to pay $28 for what amounted to lil more than a $5 bowl of mac n cheese with maybe some crab in it. Its a lil pricey and there are lots of kids so heads up. Also had the wedge salad and the cheese plate which purchased together made a decent meal of a salad but id also have to say not much of a cheese selection and nothing that wows.

Great food and wait staff was super nice . A bit of a wait for taking food order and only one server for our large group of 21 patrons. All in all we enjoyed it a lot.

J

We're from Dallas, TX. We usually dine in at Houston's steakhouse or 3 Forks, even sometimes 4 seasons. So we carry around a standard for other restaurants. This one I have to say, for a campground restaurant. They did excellent in choice of the sauce that they braise their steak ( rib eye) and the house salad was under estimated. My wife enjoys and expects alot from any crab cakes and she was extremely happy with her plate along with her house salad. To finish the dinner we had the creme brulee but it did not meet what a creme brulee should be. Btw the calamari as an appetizer was great.

T
Tam

We really enjoyed our lunch there last Sunday. Food was very good and our server was on top of things and friendly.

S
Sean Schluntz

This is an interesting place, it's setup like a fancy / high end restaurant and charges the prices you would expect for one but is also accepting of the people who are camping in the RV or Tent sites. It's nice that it's open like that. They start you off with a nice bagett / sourdough loaf and garlic butter I had Cesar salad and Cioppino and my wife the clam chowder, corn risotto and crab cakes. The salad was good but in one of those strange fancy / not moments I wasn't offered ground pepper with it - I made due with the pepper on the table. The Cioppino had a flavorful but watery broth with a fair helping of seafood but it was all a bit overcooked (tough shrimp, fish that would have been dry if not in broth). I wasn't dissapointed, it wasn't bad, it was just average. My wife reported the chowder was also on the thin side but had good flavor and she really enjoyed the crab cakes and risotto. The restaurant has a full bad and I found the local speciality generous in size and surprisingly inexpensive as far as mixed drinks go. I've been here before and have never had a bad meal (they have mad good cobblers in the past) and if you are already here it's a nice place to eat. I don't think I would make it a destination. Though, ~25 miles up the coast are quite a few other options, probably the same south of here.

Great atmosphere. Don’t be fooled by the campground. It’s an easy place to go visit for a meal during a beach drive on your way to Santa Cruz. The location is great. The lodge is nice and comfortable. The food is OK, but there’s not much else to eat around there.

R
Rhiannon King

Service was amazing. The lemon burrata dip was to die for! The chicken “pot pie” (its pot pie soup with puff pastry) was very light and delicious. My bf had their steak frites and enjoyed it. I ordered their carrots but didn’t enjoy them as they were very chewy and leathery. The atmosphere was wonderful.

We came here several times while glamping in costanoa with our 3 year old and friends. The food was ok. My wife got the chicken pot pie. It wasn't super flavorful. I got the shrimp. It was pretty good but the salad it came with was super boring. The bread was very good. We ate like 2 loafs each visit. To drink I got the blackberry whisky. It was a little too sour for me. The service was great.

Stopped for lunch on our way down the coast. Artichoke Fritters were good. Just ordered sandwiches and fries. The crab cake sandwich was good. Boys enjoyed their burger and french dip. The view from outside is beautiful. The dirty fries were not that exciting. Too much raw garlic, I could not taste or see and rosemary, and they were served with ketchup not aioli.

So glad we found this restaurant on a day trip to Pescadero! It's literally a hidden gem due to its "off the beaten path location". The restaurant's interior decorum was in-line with its camp ground atmosphere, yet offered a mature, classy environment. The food was good, except the hamburger meat tasted processed, not fresh, lean ground beef (minus a * for that), but the drinks, desserts and my husband's chicken sandwich were really good! The most outstanding aspect of our visit here was the customer service. Everyone was polite, attentive and professional at all times...Big shout out to our waiter, Christian!! He was AWESOME!!!...We'll definitely eat here again when in the area!

Unfriendly host but good food. Make a reservation for dinner (starts at 5pm). Servers were at least nice. That older host guy needs to retire. He acted like he didnt care if we ate there or not since we didnt have a reservation, even though it was 45 minutes until dinner began and we just wanted food from the bar menu.

D
David Merrifield

This place looked great from the outside, and the inside as well. The service was friendly. The food, however, was ... good. Not great. Not nearly as good as we were hoping. Only get the calamari if you're really hungry but don't care about quality. You get a large, heaping portion of very rubbery, overcooked calamari rings of various sizes, with very bland batter, and tiny rings of fried jalapenos. Pretty sure the calamari came from a frozen bag, and the dipping sauce came from a jar - generic onion ring dip. The Beef Ragu Pappardelle, wasn't. Pappardelle is long, wide noodles. What was served was very thin linguini. The "sauce" was mostly oil, and while most of the beef was fairly tender, the first bite tasted and felt like beef jerky. My lady friend ordered the mushroom ravioli and said it was "good, but uninteresting". We also ordered clam chowder, but was told 10 minutes later that they were out, so we got the "French Onion Soup" instead, which was basically a bowl of caramelized onions with a little broth, and weird, overly grainy bread with melted cheese laid on top (not floating in the soup, so it soaks it up and gets all mushy and melty like is usual). Soup, appetizer, and two entrees for $140 with tip. All of it was good, none of it was great or worth that price. We might give it another try to see if we just ordered all the wrong things, but we weren't very impressed.

C
Crystal

I ordered the calamari because they were out of burgers. However, the calamari was dry and heavily breaded. It seemed overcooked, as the parts where you could taste the calamari were hard and rubbery. On a positive note, the bread and butter were amazing!

2.5 stars Can't beat the location and the views, but my meal was just ok. I got the Crab Cake Benedict - the Crab Cakes were alright, the English Muffin was too tough to cut, and the dressing on the accompanying salad (which I was excited about) had a strange metallic taste. I wouldn't get this $18 entree again, even if they charged less.

Ciao Sue!

I made a reservation six weeks in advance for 7:15 PM on a Friday. We were guests at the lodge. We arrived at 7:16 PM to the restaurant and we were informed by the young woman she "had no tables", despite our reservation, but we could sit outside. It was cold and no one was outside. She eventually found a high top by the “bussing” Station. Within a few minutes, the table for two at the fireplace was open. I inquired from our very nice server Erin if we could sit there, and she was told by the hostess "no" it was reserved. They seated a man who left after five minutes and the table remained open for the rest of the evening. Strike one star. We ordered the beet and goat cheese salad. We could find a bushel of kale, one goat cheese ball, and very little beets cut into miniscule size, although it was very good. I would hardly call it a goat cheese and beet salad. Strike 2. Lastly, I ordered the braised beef pappardelle. What I got was beef stew over noodles. (Stew /pot roast was also on the menu) And it was far too salty Strike 3. The redeeming factor was our excellent server Erin who made the evening very pleasant. They also have a nice wine list. If I return, I will definitely try something else. My adult daughter had mushroom ravioli which was pretty good. The waitstaff/hostess needs to be trained in how to manage her room properly. When I informed her I had a reservation, she said "everybody in the room has a reservation", as if that was an excuse for not keeping a table for our reservation. I had three confirmation texts from the restaurant in advance. It’s a very pleasant setting, which makes up for everything. BTW There is only one vegetarian entrée option.

Before this weekend I would have rated a 4, but this weekend was bad at a 2, so I'm settling for a 3 overall. This was the first time we didn't enjoy our experience. We were seated by the side door next to the stairs. While we were waiting for our food a very busy server told us in passing we need to move our table so he can easily carry the food upstairs. So thinking that staff would move our table we waited, then we had to move our own table. We lifted the table and moved it over along with our chairs. My salad was so drenched in dressing I couldn't eat it. I ordered steak frites with a peppercorn demi. The sauce looked like melted American cheese, was thick and didn't have any peppercorns (not sure what the sauce was). My husband ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and he said it had zero flavor. The bread was good but they pureed artichoke in the butter which made the texture and taste weird. My son at least liked his kids pizza and the fries were good. They were busy but we waited some time for plates to be cleared and were shown a small electronic tablet to sign for our bill. We had to ask if they had a dessert menu. Then we were asked to sign the small tablet where we couldn't review the bill for accuracy. I was really thrown off mostly by having to move our own table. We stay at Costanoa a few times a year and really hope this is not the new norm.

Been to Cascade several times, food quality has - as of late - gone down hill. The special of the day was Halibut but it was overcooked and dry. The real travesty however is that they had "blueberry cobbler" which 3 of our party ordered. The server brought over "three blueberry cheesecakes" and we clarified we ordered the cobbler. He quickly followed up with "oh this is the cobbler, we don't have cheesecake" and then put down the dessert pictured. It looked fine but I don't like cheese cake and it's not what I ordered. The server insisted that this was "blueberry cobbler". When they dropped the check they kept all 3 "blueberry cobblers" on the check and clarified that it was actually "blueberry cobbler cheesecake". This is despite early saying they only had cobbler and no cheesecake and my "cobbler" being untouched (aside from a tiny to taste to ensure I wasn't hallucinating that it was in fact cheesecake). I had to find a dessert menu and take a picture on the way out because the only explanation for this bizarre behavior was that cheesecake was in the description and we all missed it. That picture is attached as well. You tell me - would you order that and be happy to get a slice of blueberry cheesecake? I was not.

They DO NOT have clam chowder on the menu anymore. Came here reading a review that there is clam chowder, and possibly the best in the area. They are under new management and the clam chowder is nowhere to be found. Sad. Giving this rating in the hopes that the new owners bring it back. Otherwise this place is gorgeous and they staff are warm and kind. I got tea and walked around with it. If they bring back the soup they were once known for I’ll change this review.

Honestly, not impressed. The most appetizing part of the meal were the brussel sprouts we ordered for appetizers. There was a piece of tin foil I found in my dish and my husband pulled out multiple pieces of crab tendon in his macaroni and cheese..

I stopped for dinner on my birthday last year on August 20th,2016, I had a fractured hand and arm. My whole arm was in a brake making it difficult for me to sit at the bar. The hostess a male was so rude , he asked me if I was going to have dinner, I said yes I was. He pointed to the bar, told me to sit at the bar since I was lone. I asked to speak to the manager and pointed to my injury, he asked me to wait, after 1/2 hour he showed me to a single table telling me to be done with dinner in half 1/2 as they had other reservations. I sat there for 2 1/2 hours, had champagne, appetizer, dinner and desert. Although the steak was cooked to my standard the serve was really bad. (They had no idea that I am a professional chief). I am thinking of going back there again this week to see if there are any changes to providing good service. (Still trying to decide).

We got salad with beetroot and goat cheese, beetroot wasn’t grilled as it should have been, salad without any taste, Then we ordered steamers that were nice, nice wine sauce as well, sadly with that we got baguette, that was always burned, and ruined the food completely, sadly they were not able to grill them without the burned taste, I would expect an apology or at least asking if now they everything is fine, that didn’t happen either.. Lastly we got polenta with mushrooms which was great, sadly overall experience was was below what I would expect for that money

I took my boyfriend here for Valentines Day a two years ago. The setting was nice, and I recall the food being decent. What was not so great was the service: ignored by the hostess, we weren't informed that they had run out of more than one dish that night until attempting to order those dishes, service was exceptionally slow (restaurant was not full), our waiters were switched at least once due to restaurant confusion/staffing issues. I spoke up and made requests, but no comped dessert/drink/ acknowledgement of what was going on there was made. If a restaurant can't handle X Number of guests, they absolutely shouldn't accept them, especially on Valentine's Day.

There are new owners as about 6 months ago. The roasted Brussels sprouts were very good. The rest was very bland, and so so. The new menu is like a cafe. Servers were nice and helpful!

Beautiful outdoor space, but the service was slow and the menu was disappointing. It didn’t match the photos shown on Google. There was absolutely nothing truly appetizing to eat

Tldr; Pros - smoked steak was flavorful and accurately cooked. Cons - Most food was gross Long version: I called three times between 6 and 7 without an answer. I resorted to calling the front desk which confirmed they are open and do takeout. I arrived to order and they were out of braised beef which i found out after I tried to order it. I ordered the mushrooms, smoked steak, mussels and fries, and a side of Mac and cheese. The mussels lid was loose and leaked in my car. The dish had half clove size chunks of raw garlic. The mussels and sauce were ok, but nothing to recommend. The steak was delicious. The mash potatoes and broccolini it came with were unappetizing. The broccolini had little charing and had no sign of seasoning. The potatoes had nutmeg and maybe other Chinese 5 spice. Disgusting in potatoes! They could have done less and ended up better off. The Mac and cheese was flavorless, but we'll textured. The mushrooms were rubbery and close to uncooked. I ended up re-preparring that dish because it also had inch-thick slices of raw jalapenos on it and more large chunks of raw garlic. Who wants to eat that in that context? One of the worst dollar for quality experiences I've had. Props to the folks at the grill. Everything else was shameful.

my opinion, its gone down hill in the past couple years, not worth the money any more. the food is still fresh, just doesn't have the same quality of cooking, seems the menu has moved in a more common direction, nothing special anymore. the bar is nice and bartenders are friendly. Nothing to brag about like I used to.

Terrible service! Only four out of over a dozen tables were occupied and they still claimed they were busy and did not even wanna serve drinks while we waited.

Five stars A meal to remember NOT AT ALL He would hope that when you go to a restaurant (Cascade) you regularly patronize for a father's day dinner it would be a good experience. We had a horrible meal. We had a reservation, they gave our table to another party. The waitress was prompt and we got our first round of beverages. Then we sat at the table for over an hour without any other service. When we checked with the manager he said our ticket had been lost and blamed it on the kitchen. He did try to remedy things but offered nothing. He also tried to say that the mix-up had nothing to do with our waitress and that it was not her fault. However she only brought us our drinks and we never saw her again for the rest of the night. Also the manager treated us with attitude and excuses as opposed to prioritizing our table and trying to remedy the situation. We had to ask for our meal to be comped. He agreed to that. But did not put our order in. We had to check back with him and tell him to fire our meals. We still waited another 20 or 30 minutes to get food on the table. When the food did arrive my son's chicken was overdone and not edible and my steak was completely raw. Absolutely one of the worst meals ever. We will never patronize the Cascade restaurant again.

We have visited Cascade in the past and had great experience. This Thanksgiving we stayed at a nearby lodge and - unfortunately - decided to have their thanksgiving Dinner this year as well. What a mistake. For $65 I expected something better than horrible service and disgusting food presentation. 1. Appetizer - fig salad. Was good, but the serving was huge. Way larger than the bowl of lunch salad at a local cafe. For gods sake, it's supposed to be an appetizer and not fill me up even before dinner started. 2. Appetizer - oysters Rockefeller. Two tiny baked oysters served in a puddle of neon yellow dyed molten ice! Are you kidding me? Fresh oysters on ice, yes. But why baked oysters on ice? And then then why not serve right away, but wait until the ice melts??? 3. Turkey dinner - an unappetizing pile of cold tossed thanksgiving leftovers drenched in cranberry sauce on top of raw green beans. 4. Service - the table next to us was at the 2nd serving of bread and butter when we got our appetizers. Looks like we got lucky, unlike our table neighbors who waited for another half an hour for their appetizers. And then another hour for the check. Visitors beware! Stay away from Cascade on Thanksgiving. I recommend the Roadhouse in nearby Davenport instead.

Went there to celebrate my friend’s bday and made a reservation in advance, when arrived I can tell they were struggling, no one acknowledged our reservation, as there is not good reception just later on the day I realized they canceled my OpenTable (even though we showed up), the server did the best she could, but she was overwhelmed with many tables and not help. At any point see a manager or supervisor, which could help due the lack of service. Food is just nothing memorable. Went there because of the reviews…overall, a disappointed experience.

This place is horrible! We waited 45 minutes for our food. The waitress was rude and acted like she just didnt want to be there. The crabcake sandwich I ordered was mostly burnt, I asked for tartar sauce and she tossed a little cup of Thousand Island salad dressing, turned around and left! If they didnt have tartar sauce she could at least apologize and ask if there is anything else I would like. She never asked if we wanted another drink. This place is in a beautiful location and the inside is nice with two fireplaces, but dont waste your money and time. The food wasnt good. We waited so long for the food that we didnt have time to walk on the beach and enjoy the beautiful weather like we planned. Keep driving, dont stop here.

Servers not knowledgeable about vegan options though menu says they have them. Ended up with “paella”. Black rice and squash floating in salty broth- nothing about it resembled paella. Companions each ordered half a roasted chicken and literally got kiddie plates of fried chicken nuggets. The portion sizes between the two was laughably disproportionate. By the time our server came back, it had been so long they didn’t want to wait for their correct meals to come. The second sever at least tried her best. The first one we had who disappeared shortly after telling me I could have a side order of plain arugula or a side of broccolini went the way of the dodo mysteriously. It was really a cluster of an experience. Costanoa is truly wonderful and I’d come back in a second but I wouldn’t eat here again.

Great place to eat if you want food poisoning. Hair and other "things" in food. Staff unable to make eye contact, as if they know something. 20 hours later and my stomach still hurts. Second time there in recent months, and the first time wasn't much better. I never get sick on restaurant food, but something is clearly "rotten in Denmark" here. Treat your body right, and avoid this tourist trap.

What a mess this place has become. We definitely don't recommend it any longer. Seven years ago, the food was lousy, then it improved for quite a while, and now it's lousy again. We have eaten there an average of one time per week and have eaten most of the menu. Today's lunch for four at 2pm was our last. Music was really loud, more for the workers than the very few custoers. We asked our server if it was possible to turn down and had to make two requests to get it done. He must be a part-time bartender becuase it was clear he wanted to spend more time in the bar than waiting tables. The french dip said it came with horseradish sauce, which it did not. It was not possible to cut the sandwich meat, touted as "prime rib", because the meat was so tough. Inedible. I didn't even want to take a To Go bag for my dog, that bad. We requested steak knives which the server never brought; it wasn't possible to eat the sandwich without very sharp knives. The server got waylaid talking to the manager and did so for over 6 minutes without getting the knives or asking someone else to do so. We got them ourselves. Those clearing the tables have no concept of doing so quietly. Literally throwing silverware into bins on top of plates, it felt as if we were at the kitchen sink. Food quality, ambience, service, all zero. Better to drive another 15 minutes south to Davenport. So sad that this place isn't worth visiting.

We went camping here at costanoa and went to this restaurant three times for lunch. All three times the service was horribly slow, empty water glasses, no ice in the water etc. it took 35 minutes to get two sandwiches and they were ice cold. The fries were cold and hard as a rock. We sent it back, and when we got it again it was cold AGAIN. We didn’t say anything and just forced it down. The food itself wasn’t even good, it wouldn’t have been good even if it was hot. We thought this must be a fluke, so we went to try it again the next day. It was the same experience even with different menu items and different staff. Horrible service and cold food. Even when sent back it still came lukewarm at best. I should not be able to stick my finger in the middle of my fries or my au jus without any warmth at all. It wasn’t very busy during lunchtime either so I can’t fathom why it would take so ridiculously long to get cold food BOTH times. I will say the dirty fries are good- if you get them hot. The bar is great though the drinks from there are great.

There is NO brunch anymore!!! Two mochas taking more than 30 minutes and they are undrinkable? Generally, good for lunch and dinner. However it seems they are going downhill on communication. Holiday weekend, Labor Day, and all you have are breakfast burritos? Seriously? With that teaser of a brunch menu still showing? Seems like you are missing the boat. Nice stay in a cabin and no delicious breakfast? Opposite of satisfied right now.

A beautiful restaurant by the ocean. Service is slow and not very efficient. I ordered a burger 🍔, costs $20, it comes with one patty, one slice of lettuce, and cold fries.

The new menu is horrible - even before tasting the food, which was tasteless and served cold during both dinners we tried - it lacks diversity and is nothing to get excited over. We used to love coming here, and we like the manager on site who is doing the best he can with a lot of unhappy customers (bad food and inexperienced waitstaff), but after hearing our waitress trash talk us to her coworkers, we won’t be back.

Don't come here. Our server Frankie was terrible. He didn't put in drink orders, was dismissive and rude when asked questions. He was rushing us out after it took almost an hour to get mains they were warmed up. Then brought out the saddest looking desserts that he "had to go get himself because the kitchen was so backed up". The restaurant was not even half full. I also want to touch on the food, the chicory salad had no chicory, it was radichio. Tasted fine but was hard to eat and honestly a small portion. The soup was fine but not worth $20+ dollars. Mains came out semi cold and small portions. Desserts where still frozen and sad looking because our server made them himself. After paying the check the food runner brought out another round of desserts that looked properly prepared and plated. We then listened to Frankie offer the table behind us 20 percent off for something after having a horrible experience, and being charged full price for stuff we did not receive. He was super hospitable to tables around us and so cold and rude to our table. Place sucks, Frankie sucks, bartender sucks. Don't waste your money here.

We had, hands down, the worst service of our life here. I won't bore you with too many details of the hours of insanity, but I will provide a few highlights. We watched an inexperienced staff spill food, ignore guests, and even dump an entire tray of drinks on a customer which they appeared not to know how to clean up (until the customer started bussing her own table)! The staff didn't know how to pour wine (except on the table, plates, and the floor which he never attempted to clean up), how to complete anything close to proper table service, spilled bits of everything everywhere, brought cold food to half the party, never returning to even check that the correct meals had arrived. They handed plates for others customers to pass down the table like an assembly line despite it being a round table in an open area. They never cleared a dish before bringing the next course, and so on. Several in our party ordered the skirt steak. No one ever asked how they wanted it cooked; however, when the food came, they asked which guest had the medium rare and who had the well done steaks (apparently the only two choices). Three others in our party received their meals 25 minutes later when they "figured out the button on their computer for that dish wasn't working." Of course if anyone had checked in after food was delivered to any of the tables, they would have known a lot sooner. There were still dirty starter plates on the table when we finally finished our meal. We tried repeatedly to give them to servers throughout the nightmare so we had space to eat, but they wouldn't take them. At one point the starter course was still being eaten when runners brought the main dishes. They literally stood next to diners with their meals and stared at them until they stopped eating and moved their own plates out of the way. They didnt have a clue what they were doing and no one seemed to care. We saw our server three times in two hours, once to take our order and at the end when he brought dessert (which he spilled) and to drop the bloated check. This was, without a doubt, the worst "nice" meal we have ever had, just astoundingly bad. Even after writing a polite email to the manager explaining our horrendous experience and why we were canceling our reservation for the next night, we never even got the courtesy of a single response, like... "Sorry that happened, we were having a rough night, or give us another chance." When your most basic service is so incredibly bad and ridiculously expensive, your customer service should be impeccable. This place made Dennys look like a 5 star establishment. Stay away.

Friday 2025 September 26. Rode over from Redwood City today with a friend specifically to have lunch here. Sat at the bar around 1:30pm, only one other couple having lunch at a table. Very poor unfriendly service. Asked for light beer and was told they didn’t have light beer only Mexican lager with an impatient eye-roll. Very limited menu. Ordered the crispy fish tacos $27 and so did my friend. Just simply awful, not crispy just deep fried greasy fish on plain tortilla. No follow up from the bar tender. Total bill $65.96. Not going back.
