We went there yesterday and were warmly welcomed from the moment we arrived! The food was absolutely delicious, and the ambiance was wonderful — cozy, friendly, and full of good energy. We’ll definitely be coming back!

I love this Chinese restaurant in Philadelphia! It's authentic Szechuan cuisine, and the food is spicy but they'll adjust the spice level to your liking. It's reasonably priced with a super friendly staff, and the portions are generous. Plus, they offer free rice and tea with any order. It's just perfect!

We enjoyed the food. Some dish might be quite oily but they were warm and fresh. Nice service.

I was craving something fresh and spicy and Han Dynasty was perfect! The garlic pork was so delicious and tangy, I got some eggplant that was perfectly cooked with balanced heat, and finally the dumplings with chili oil! All of it was perfect. If I lived here, I would be here all the time. Thank you for a lovely meal and pleasant service.

Awesome food! I always go for spicier options. My favorites are dry pepper chicken, and lamb cumin style. Drinks are OK. Some of the options are pretty creative. Atmosphere: OK. This location gets bisy with younger groups. But I am OK with it. Parking has always been easy around here.

Great Chinese cuisine. Loved it😘. It is a busy restaurant, All the dishes were super delicious and good quantity for the price. The waiter was also super cool. All together I loved the place, no complaints. Will update the details after trying some other dishes next time... bye😍

A great spot in Philidelpia for Asian food! It was within walking distance of our event and I'm a fan of spicy food, so this was a good spot. They rank their menu with spiciness and gave huge portions. Their dumplings were extremely flavorful and our server always checked in on us. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this place and will totally come back.

I’d give them 6 stars if I could. Food is just so delicious - the Dan Dan noodles are the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried it in multiple restaurants in different cities. Also, shoutout to the cumin lamb and black bean fish!

I ordered the dry pepper style chicken and chicken fried rice. Both were great as usual. You also have the option to select the spice level of your food from 1-10 (least to most spicy). Han dynasty is one of the few Chinese restaurants I order from, their food isn’t too greasy except for the garlic chicken which is literally in oil. Otherwise I’m usually pleased with the ordering process from start to work end.

This is the second Han Dynasty I have been able to dine at. This one didn’t disappoint at all! It’s a big location, which is perfect for large gatherings, parties, or any type of celebrations where you will invite a lot of family and friends to eat together. We were able to sit at a big round table, which made it perfect to be able to speak to everyone. We ordered a variety of plates to share and it truly felt like a potluck or Friendsgiving! We ordered spring rolls as appetizers. The dan dan noodles were spicy and so fresh! The garlic sauce chicken stole the show, it was full of flavor! Overall this is a great restaurant for nice, big gatherings.

The food here is great! The dry pot and double cooked style was delicious. The best part is all of their dishes can be changed with a different variety of meats. We may have gotten pork this time, but we easily could have requested duck, chicken, or shrimp!

I’ve been going to the Han Dynasty in Exton for years and it’s great. This place is 1000% better in terms of flavor. The dry pepper fish ( a favorite of mine) was phenomenal. Between the crunchiness of the breading, the fish cooked to perfection, and the overall taste, you need to try it here. I also decided to try the spicy mung bean noodles. They were very good. The consistency is kind of like veggie noodles mixed with udon. However, my server Lelu, was not great. The only time she came to my table was to bring my drink and bring the check (which I had to raise my hand and ask for). She never came to see how I was doing or refill my water. I had to ask a passing server for a refill. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she’s new. Other than that, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely be back when I’m the area. Btw, the dried peppers are edible and very tasty. 10/10 would recommend

Super fast service. Definitely worth a try. I Had Dan-Dan noodles and Cumin Style Tofu. Dan-Dan noodles very amazing but I felt the Cumin Style Tofu was a little dry I enjoyed it but if you do not like dry items then you can try with meat.

Great restaurant and bar for noodles, rice and dumplings. The service and food was so quick. Plenty of space for big parties as well. Prices are so very reasonable priced.

Lovely fusion of delicious food and excellent service. Everyone were friendly and welcoming. Our host steve was the best. His recommendation were great. Had the Cumin chicken, dbl cooked pork,Hot sauce beef and dan dan noodles everything was done to perfection. Highly recommend this location. They also have happy hours for wine and beer after 1630z

Tried this place out for the first time and was easily impressed. Dry pepper style wings were amazing. Scallion Style beef was okay, and house rice noodles were just average. Got 2 drinks, ice tea and punch, were both fantastic. Will visit again.

Han Dynasty blew my mind. The dumplings in chili oil were insanely good and the portions were quite large. Definitely miles above your average takeout Chinese food.

Came here to have lunch and wait for a doctor's appointment. The restaurant was small but warm, with comfortable chairs and a busy but pleasant atmosphere. My server, called McCoy S on my receipt, was wonderful and my mapo tofu was delicious. Definitely stop by if you have the chance!

The food is really good. Both veg and non veg are really good which kicks the spice buds in you. We have been going to this locations for many years. Have both dine In and take aways.Recently we have see the staff standing at counters behaviour is low and un welcoming to the guest. Hope the owners make a look into it to make some improvements.

5 stars always been going to this place for 15 years but they recently changed their Dan Dan noodles and they are not nearly as good as before. This review is simply a plea for them to go back to the old noodles!

Every dish that I've ordered is always delicious. The staff is very accommodating and pleasant. Jules who runs the bar is always great and makes terrific drinks.

Lunch portion- laughable. No condiments were included. $12+ fees Tasty (Dry hot chicken)- 11/10! Added brown rice. (Meh.) Asked for GF pption... Umm... I think that was my fault.

Think of this like Chinese fast food, it’s pretty good (definitely better than the typical American Chinese takeout) I’ve had their vegetarian Dan Dan noodles and mapo tofu that are both delicious, I highly recommend that- I would give it a 4 star but This time I tried the Kung Pao tofu and cumin tofu and it was good but the tofu on both dishes were wayyy too dry. I think they fried it before hand and maybe when they fried it the second time it just dried it out. At least the kungpao had some sauce so it helped a bit but my palate was tender by the end of the meal from the dry and sharp tofu. The atmosphere is not a place I would bring parents who are coming in from out of town or my girlfriend, but a spot I would hang casually with friends after work or classes. If based on my previous experience I would give it a 4.5 but this past time was truly a 3. They do give good portions for the price so I’ll give it a middle range of 4 out of 5 stars.

It was overall a good experience to dine in except that we had to wait even when there were empty tables.

Han Dynasty has multiple locations and each one isn't exactly the same. I actually like that about Han, it tells me that the head chef has the freedom to make slight changes to the menu items based of their individual skills. I like the decor, it's very bright and open with a nice view of the active city street. The location is in the in the heart of University City which is very clean and I had no issue getting meter street parking. My favorite dish at this location was the excellent Wonton Soup. The service was fast and the staff was friendly.

What I expect from a chain. It’s pretty good food, and if you can do happy hour I’d say it’s worth it. I got a bunch for happy hour and was able to take a bunch back home to give to my husband. The cocktails are pretty good too. Sometimes it was difficult to get the attention of staff, but when I did they really made it up to me with how much food they gave and how accommodating they would be. The most recent time I went a staff member seemed to have a negative attitude and like maybe she was having a not-so-easy day that made her a little bitter, but once the banter started going at the bar she was much more easy going and very good to me. If you don’t expect a ton of in your face attention I think this place is pretty great. I think it’s also important to be compassionate to the staff. Giving some kindness has gone a long way here.

Food was very good but 4 stars because it was extremely salty and you can feel the sodium in your stomach afterwards. Don’t get me wrong, the food itself tasted great but the saltiness was too much. If you guys used around 20% less salt and sodium, I would have given an easy 5 stars.

C
Christina B

Food was delicious. We ordered vegetarian dan dan noodles, dry pot fish and cumin chicken 10 spicy. I would recommend 10 spicy if you like spicy food because it’s not overwhelmingly spicy but just enough. Also there is free parking at this location.

My friends especially loved the Dan Dan noodles, the scallion pancakes and the salt and pepper shrimp. I thought the house special rice and the dry beef was good too.

Great chinese food in University city. Have been there several times. Really love their dan dan noodles and braised pork shoulders. The people are really nice and friendly. Definitely coming back again.

Good place, simple menu to choose from and priced right. This is my second Han Dynasty location I’ve visited. My coworkers usually takes me to Han Dynasty location near Exton, PA for lunch. However, the University City location is a much more upscale place compare to the one in Exton. Albeit, their food and taste are identical and the quality of food is similar across both locations. I love the modern and contemporary decor of the University City location more, fits the neighborhood perfectly.

Great service. Dan Dan noodles were excellent but I didn’t get extra meat, even though I ordered it and was charged it The noodles had excellent bounce, texture, and mouthfeel. Definetly better than the average Philly noodle The tea they served was great for digestion

Have been eating here for years now, both dine in and takeout. The quality of their food varies quite a lot from mediocre to very good. However, when dining in, they have great service and they're really quick when getting takeout orders ready.

Was looking for authentic spicy Chinese food, and heard good things about this place, but a bit disappointed after trying. Will not come back for the price, portion or the taste.

P
Preston Smith

Hearing about this place from so many UPenn staff and students, I was excited to give them a try. I stopped by on several occasions- two weekdays and two weekends- to give myself multiple opportunities to review. The food was generally tasty, though like the service, it was inconsistent. I received different portions of the same dishes for the same cost, and their service is a gamble of whether you will get a server who cares versus one who thinks you should be grateful for their presence. The best thing about the restaurant is the atmosphere. It's trendy and looks cool, looking its best at night for dinner. For the price, I can see why students would like it. But it would be great if they can reel in a more consistent food portion and presentation and service standard.

S
Sagar Patel

I like food here, they have really nice lunch menu, however, this place is slow with services so have extra time if you are going for work lunch. I would rather prefer to take out from here as they charge 20% gratuity but don’t offer 20% worth services. Overall food is good and decent!

C
Courtney P

Didn’t really like the Chinese food here, it’s not that tasty and it’s pretty spicy for me. However, I loved the atmosphere :)

Food was decent. Old town location is better. Dan Dan noodles dojos have been better.

**** I found a rubber band in my food**** This is the second time I’ve ordered from Han Dynasty- first time I got mapo tofu, which was amazing. This time I got scallion style chicken and chicken dumplings in chili oil. Both tasted amazing, but I FOUND A RUBBER BAND IN THE SCALLION CHICKEN. the worst part is that I was cooked with the chicken, and the chicken is battered, so I actually ate the rubber band, but thankfully noticed the weird object I was chewing before swallowing it. This is a HUGE choking hazard, and I hope the restaurant can take larger precautions to ensure this doesn’t happen again. I still gave three stars because the food is amazing. EDIT: I tried emailing about this given the choking hazard, but the email listed on their site doesn’t exist.

The two young ladies who helped us at the register were very pleasant. However, this is a "fast food" Asian Restaurant, which I would never patronize had I known... In all the many years I've been eating Chinese/Asian food, across the U.S. I've never had an Asian restaurant say they don't have "broccoli"... The food is more for kids ... however the prices are high ... Not my cup of tea ... at all

L
Lieren Tyira

They increase the prices when you order online for delivery rather than pickup which is kind of lame since they don't even use their own driving staff. Paid $50 for 3 things and all 3 things were just ok - chicken fried rice, dan dan noodles, and chicken dumplings. The flavors you want out of these dishes were secondary to the flavor of salt and didn't love the texture of the chicken in the fried rice. It was ready quickly for dinnertime hours on a Friday night and I appreciated the option to not include utensils with the order. Overall it was not worth the $50, unsure if we would order from here again.

They deserve 0 Stars. I went to the university city location with my infant today and ate half my food there and took the rest to go. I am vegan/ plant based and made sure to let them know. My waiter Matt G ensured me that he was aware of dietary and restrictions and was helpful in what I could have. At around 4:23 PM I ordered the spring rolls, veggie pot stickers and the garlic sauce eggplant with brown rice. I only ate half there because i started feeling a little sick but knew that my needs should have been taken care of. As I was attempting to finish the food I started, later tonight I noticed chicken in my meal. That is a mistake you DO NOT make. Although Matt was nice, their kitchen staff clearly don't care about their job. There was only 2 other tables being serviced while I was there so they were not busy.

The worst tofu I ever tried. It was SO SO HARD, filled with oil. Very disgusting. We ordered king pao tofu.

From out of town grabbed take out. Place wasnt busy we were the only ones waiting up front. Kid that took our was dancing and singing having conversations with manager. He grabbed some orders placed them to the side of desk at front . We stood there the entire time never left after 30 mins of waiting my husband asked how much longer kid said name on order we didn’t even have to say it and said oh its right here I was looking for you guys. What a joke manager didn’t even apologize. Never again

J

I got their beef soup, which is good. It normally comes not spicy, which would have been great because I’m sick but they gave me spicy. The rest of the meal was mid for the price.

I have ordered from Han many times over the years, and always loved their food. I ordered on NYE. Both the garlic chicken and the pork fried rice were awful. The garlic chicken smelled strongly of ammonia and the pork fried rice had a sour taste. I was so repulsed that I threw everything away. I submitted a complaint and have heard nothing back. Super disappointed, because I have loved this place for years.
