Opinions de Red Dog Saloon Pioneertown
Today was my first time at the Red Dog Saloon. I have been wanting to go for tacos because people talk about them. Loved the place, it's located at the old town and surrounded by Pioneertown history. The ambience was intimate, soft lighting to create a warm atmosphere. Tina Turner was "Rolling on the River." I started with the day's special a delicious chicken tinga tortilla soup (on the good spicy side), then ordered the Beef brisket, Chicken tinga and Mushroom asada tacos. Their tacos are small but soft and full with flavors. Service was friendly and timely. An overall beautiful experience!
Stopped here for a couple of beer after a little road trip and heading back to Havasu Landing. We were well received and other patrons joked about us Canadians. The owner bought us a round and gave us stickers. We bought the t-shirt. Cool little bar and great service from the bartender! We will be back for another drink anytime we are heading back to the Landing from Ft. Mojave. Highly recommended!
I'm getting a little older and crustier and rarely go out past dark - I know I lead a miserable existance - but this was a fun stop on our way home the other day. We sat at the bar where the bartender was very patient with us old folks. Beers were enjoyed while we ate some of the best tacos ever and listened to the live music. Truly, these are my favorite kind of tacos nicely rolled up in foil, not a massive taco monstrosity many places serve. A great evening to be sure.
Stopped by here before the concert last night. Julio was cool, super friendly and Ursula made me the best cherry coke. They even had the good dark cherries! Friendly atmosphere and very cool and clean inside. If you’re going to Palm Springs, I definitely recommend taking a side trip here!
We love the live music, the food, and the drinks here! Always look forward to it when we come to Pioneertown. Check their Instagram or website to see their event schedule- they have live music all the time and Bingo! The tacos are excellent. We tried the chicken, pork, beef, and mushroom tacos. The pork was our favorite! Beef was second favorite, chicken was third favorite, and mushroom was least favorite but all were delicious. The tortillas were excellent. We also got the guac with chips and it was delicious and a good portion size. My husband had Modelos but I tried their margaritas and they were great!
We stopped by here for dinner after visiting Pioneertown, and were just in time for Bingo night. It's loud, it's fun, and very inclusive. We ordered our tacos and drinks at the bar, and found a table outdoors where it was a little less loud (just because we were jetlagged and also tired from our drive). The tacos tasted a lot better than I had expected. I would recommend you to eat them in this order: the vegan mushroom taco > the chicken taco > the pork one > the wagyu beef one. I started with the beef one first and it was so juicy and flavorful that it (kinda almost) ruined the others for me. We also got the tater tots, spicy pickles, beans and mexican rice. Everything was delicious, I have to say. As another family left, they passed their Bingo cards to us, so we got to play along as well. It was good fun. Just be aware that if you can't handle cussing then you should probably avoid game night here!
Unbelievable Food and Exceptional Service at The Red Dog Saloon!_ I'm still reeling from the incredible dining experience at The Red Dog Saloon! The food is absolutely phenomenal - we ordered the mushroom tacos and the beef tacos, and both were mind-blowing. The breakfast burritos? Off. The. Chain! But what truly sets this place apart is the exceptional service. Our bartender, a bearded gentleman with a gruff yet charming demeanor (think Grizzly Adams!), is an absolute mixology master. I challenged him to craft an Old Fashioned, and he delivered - using a square block of ice and serving it up with style. The drinks menu is impressive, and the quality is top-notch. We tried the Three Dots and a Dash (extra spicy, of course!), and wow... just wow. If you haven't been to The Red Dog Saloon yet, do yourself a favor and get there ASAP. The food, drinks, and service are all hands-down incredible. We can't wait to come back! _Highly Recommended!_
I thoroughly enjoyed this place. My friends and I went there and they had a gentleman lead line dancing. Small space, but it was a lot of fun. The only unfortunate part was that there was a bartender who did not like military. He openly complained when we walked through the door. He also would avoid serving us. Other people would come up and he would take their orders. We usually had to go to other parts of the bar to get a drink. We paid and always tipped. They have a military discount, but he would never apply it, even when we mentioned. That was really the only damper.
Churros: 3/5 I was really hoping that these would be good but they were really whatever. Kind of dense with a cardamom kick, I didn’t really care for them. The chocolate sauce is not sweet, rather “sophisticated” but meh. Chips + Queso: 3/5 Thick chips, thick queso that tasted like Chipotle’s, it was whatever to me. It sat in my stomach like a rock. Dazzling Dallas Manhattan: 5/5 Super strong, dessert vibes without the sweetness. I loved this drink. Really pushed the rating up to a 4 star! If you like your alcohol, highly recommend. Oaxacan Old Fashioned: 3.5/5 It was okay. I always forget that I don’t really like mezcal and that’s the main flavor. Strong smoke. It is balanced, so I would recommend it to someone who really enjoys that flavor. Ambiance: Western and fun! While I don’t recommend kids, I did see some enjoying tacos and chilling with their families Service: It’s a bar. Flagging someone down might be hard but everyone was generally pleasant. Parking: There’s a lot of parking on dirt roads but if there is an event expect to drive around a couple of times. Some big trucks may make things tricky.
Three of us visited on a honky tonk Sunday night. Parking is easy lot parking. Music was good, employees were kind and let us know that they’d be with us when they were done taking other orders. Drinks are good, food is finger foods. We ordered the tator tots and a chips w salsa. It was okayyyyy. Plenty of seating, free wifi as reception is spotty. Toilets and hand wash basin in the bathroom are black which is sketchy. Could use a more thorough cleaning and a changing out to white color. The surrounding area is Pioneertown, from what I understand was an old movie set. A very fun vibe overall. Time seems to stop when you’re there. Fun to experience 👍 Be careful of driving on the road at night, we were almost run off the road by overzealous and/or drunk locals.
Red Dog Saloon is hands down one of the best spots around. The location is unbeatable — it feels like stepping into an old Wild West town, with a vibe that’s as authentic as it gets. It’s the perfect place to grab a cold beer, relax, and soak it all in. The kids can run around outside while you kick back, and the sunset views? Absolutely photo-worthy. Food and drinks were fresh, service was solid, and the whole place has a laid-back charm that makes you want to stay a little longer. We’ll definitely be back.
Okay so I’ve been going to the Red Dog for over two years now and the cocktails are always great and the service is generally okay (as long as the bartender remembers me, otherwise they treat me like garbage… and I’m a local having worked in Pioneertown for 2 years…) where my problem lies is the quality of the food >.< I am so sorry guys, I hate to blast this but if it’s the only way you guys will start having some quality control then so be it. I don’t think I’ve had one ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS meal or food item from this restaurant and each cook makes the items differently. There’s clearly no training for cooks and chefs on how each item is supposed to be made. Today I ordered a basic chorizo breakfast burrito and received dog food. For $20. I’ve had a decent chorizo burrito from here in the past but this was not reminiscent of that one at all and didn’t even taste like chorizo (still not sure there was actually chorizo in it) and it was heavily diluted with some white sauce and onions… all I’m saying is I’d really like to be able to rely on Red Dog for my fuel when I’m at work but the food isn’t worth the cost and the bartenders are often not kind unless they know me personally. I’m leaving this review hoping it encourages growth in these areas as it would be a smart business move for this place. I’ve worked at a lot of restaurants and this would never fly in any of the restaurants/kitchens I’ve worked at in the past.
The food was ok, taste wise, nothing I went ‘omg this is soo good’ … I was shocked at the prices for the quantity. No a good shocked haha the Guacamole was pretty clean… Ordered the Brisket taco, the breakfast burrito, spicy pickles, Queso and chips, Guacamole and chips, and they wouldn’t give us a normal side of Salsa unless we paid the $8 for a full order of chips and salsa . We got the little plastic cup, Had water . Bill was $50 bucks . Some people love it.. for my experience… not so much.
Came here on a Saturday AM during Memorial Day Weekend for breakfast and sat outside with a small group. It was slow but we still had to serve ourselves because they don’t bring food out to you or have a wait staff. Joseph is very personable and makes a killer Bloody Mary (pictured) but his colleagues did the bare minimum. Came back on a Saturday early evening and the vibe and service were a total downgrade. My friend wanted to buy a t-shirt and another wanted to order a drink, but the staff seemed over it, perhaps due to the holiday crowd The live band is really loud, yet some Israeli local brings his donkeys, ties them to the fence right by the music, and asks for money when tipsy visitors want pictures. I felt bad for the poor animals.
We got there and sat down at the bar the bartenders ignored us for a good bit of time. They kept taking orders from 20 something year olds. When he finally got to is we ordered 4 tacos, two carnitas and two beef and two cocktails. Waited so long for our food and got told the carnitas are still cooking. When we finally got our food the carnitas were gross. The drinks weren't strong. When we left we spent almost 3 hours. Will not go back to that place again.
