This cafe is a fantastic find! I highly recommend it. Their onigiri is a must-try. It's so authentic, with a generous amount of filling and perfectly fluffy rice. The Oreo obanyaki was a delightful surprise—the flavors pair beautifully, and it was so balanced it could easily be mistaken for a traditional one. The iced coffee is also top-notch, with a rich flavor that's perfect for the Japanese palate. You can tell it's high quality from the first sip. Highly recommended!
Stopped by the cafe on a Saturday evening to try some of their different onigiris and desserts! The cafe wasn’t not busy at all and I got to try several items including a strawberry matcha which was very good!
This place is amazing. Every dish was delicious. The portions are pretty small, so make sure you order more than one order. We had the chicken and salmon onigiris. We also had the fuji watermelon soda float and the strawberry cheesecake obanyaki. Both are not that sweet, so it's very tasty. I'm definitely coming back.
A little cute cafe with a couple of seats. There is a QR code to the menu and to order online. Service was quick and friendly. I was looking for the popular Japanese coffee jelly with milk (I asked for oat milk). It was delicious! Not too sweet.
I visited this Store for the first time, my daughter’s third visit. When she went the second time, the rice balls were sold out, so this time we decided to go during lunch hours. I ordered the ume okaka (plum and bonito flakes), Japanese sausage rice ball, hojicha latte, and the yuzu butterfly drink that I had been wanting to try. The rice balls tasted just like the nostalgic flavors of Japan and were absolutely amazing. My daughter also said the Japanese sausage rice ball was incredibly delicious. The hojicha latte wasn’t overly sweet and tasted just right. My daughter’s yuzu butterfly drink was perfectly sweet and refreshingly cold even without ice, and she said it was very tasty. The staff were very kind and brought our orders directly to our table as soon as they were ready. This Japanese-style service was wonderful and made me feel nostalgic for my home country. The shop itself had a cute and fun atmosphere, which made the experience even better. I’ll definitely visit again to buy more rice balls and drinks!
Nothing quite hits the spot like the Texas size onigiri from Hoshi after a training! We're all huge fans of the authentic food and drink selection, in fact, such huge fans we make sure we have Hoshi Cafe at our sumo tournament annually! The staff is always very friendly and Steve brings such a good energy to the business and hosts fun events.
Hoshi Cafe was beautiful, bright, yet calm and relaxing—a truly wonderful vibe. I had an iced black coffee, onigiri (tuna mayo, salmon, and beef), and some obanyaki. Everything was flavorful and delicious! I ended up eating more than I planned because it was so good. This is definitely a place I want to visit again next time I’m in Dallas!
I went for a car event today. The owner was super sweet made sure to talk to everyone. While it was busy due to the event he still make sure to connect to his costumers and his staff make things efficiently without sacrificing the quality of the food. The service was great and the food was great as well. I truly recommend this place!
Such a lovely experience here! We came on a random Tuesday around 5PM so it was nice and quiet. The staff are so helpful in their explanations and Steve is so knowledgeable about Japanese culture, food, and cars! We tried 4 flavors of the obanyaki: red bean, curry, ham and cheese, and strawberry cheesecake. The red bean has perfect amount of sweetness and pairs well with the outside crust. The curry flavor is so delicious, especially since I love Japanese curry. The ham and cheese has a nice twist with wasabi mayo and I loved that idea! The strawberry cheesecake had the cream cheese taste and strawberry inside too. They’re not very big so it’s a nice snack to have that won’t interfere with meals. I definitely need to come back and try the drinks and onigiri next time! Thank you Steve and Hoshi team for providing such a wonderful experience :)
My first time coming in, but third time eating here. I love the tuna mayo and teriyaki chicken onigiri’s. They’re huge and delicious! Plenty of filling. The perfect balance of sweet, salty, and umami. This time I tried the cold brew coffee. So refreshing. I’ve had the red bean, taro, and black sesame obanyaki. All delicious! The outside tastes like a pancake. The inside depends on your filling or choice. The red bean is my favorite when I want something sweet. The black sesame when I want more savory. Will order or visit again. 💜
Came here a few weeks ago with my girlfriend and had been meaning to write a review, but everything I have to say is positive about this cafe. Discovered this place from TikTok and was surprised to find the owner manning the register. Steve was super attentive to anyone who walked into the cafe, and the entire experience of picking out good menu options was smooth. The Gyudon and Karaage-don were amazing. The Texas sized onigiri was good, not entirely the greatest but I could appreciate the amount I was getting for the price. The Obanyaki was great too. They were out of oreo which made sense so we both got the strawberry cheesecake flavor. Great taste, your usual strawberry flavor dessert, paired well with the meal combo. Lastly we also got two drinks, the Japanese cold brew and the Ichigo lemonade. Both excellent. I’d assume this is a family business with the lack of workers that I saw, so I hope to see this business thriving the next time I’m in Plano.
It’s so hard to find good fresh onigiri in DFW and this place is great! The onigiri are really big too so even just one or two is very filling. The combo meals are nice because you get a drink and obanyaki also. The matcha is really authentic and tasty too. Definitely will come back often!
We got the sukiyaki beef onigiri, salmon onigiri, spicy tuna onigiri, and the Shaka Shaka Nutella pandas. I enjoyed the sukiyaki beef onigiri so much that I had to get another one. My fiancé enjoyed the salmon and the spicy tuna. Good amount of stuffing in the middle of each one. The Shaka Shaka Nutella pandas were delicious snacks. Great place.
A hidden gem in Plano! Tucked right in the back next to the post office, a little pricey but well worth it in my opinion. The onigiri was as good as anything I had in Japan (I've visited several times) and still warm from being freshly made to order. The obanyaki was crispy and delicious and came out fast. The tube matcha seems to be new, but is also delicious and not too sweet! Can't say enough good things about this place, you should definitely try it.

Food & drinks were delicious! Will return to try some of the other drinks. The Wisteria is taro & coconut flavored - a unique drink I hadn’t seen & would definitely recommend.

It was a neat place we would never have found if it weren't for the car event they hosted. Really neat concept and the owner seems pretty cool. Highly recommend the taro filled, which was a surprise, the regular custard filled was very good also, but the ham and cheese filled was a bit disappointing. The idea was good, but there's just a lot of dough to overcome there. Stick to the sweet ones and you can't go wrong.
First time trying today I ordered 3 different flavors all were a hit 5 stars. Atmosphere was great and customer service was very professional and friendly. Best onigiris I’ve tried in dfw!!! Very filling and delicious
Hoshi Cafe is where you want to go if you want an absolutely AMAZING and authentic Japanese snacking experience in the DFW area. I lived in Japan for 4 years, and I have yet to come into another place like it that accurately replicates the experience, quite like Hoshi does. You can get the little coffees (that I love) and some really awesome GIANT Onagiri, Yakatori, and an awesome assortment of imported specialty drinks/sweets which just brings my taste buds right back to Japan and the awesome food they have there, which I miss. Great friendly, and attentive staff help add to the very quality experience! Also, if you have a cool car, especially JDM car, Steve (the owner) hosts a stellar car meet in front of the cafe once a month. I would highly recommend anyone craving Japanese snacks, or even someone who has never tried them, to try Hoshi Cafe!
Absolutely love Hoshi! My current favorite item on their menu is the Strawberry Cheesecake Obanyaki. They are fluffy/warm and the flavor of the ingredients is awesome! I ordered two and it hit the spot. They have a vast menu of various dishes, snacks, drinks and treats from Japan. The staff is great! They are friendly and will get you taken care of quick! If you are looking for a great spot, check out Hoshi!

It was my first time eating here. I decided to stop by on my work break. Unfortunately only had 20 minutes to see everything. While i was there daily driven exotics Damon and Dave reunited in town with @stevespov were hanging out there too! I tried a latte, some black black gum, and the egg sandwich and hot dog. All of them were really good and steve has the best car shows aroundhes really energetic and friendly. It was such a great experience. Everyone was respectful of the lot thankfully and we all got to enjoy the food and atmosphere. I never knew it was steve’s cafe til this week! My only wish is that i had more time to hang out and stay longer today
Really cute decor , I enjoyed the matcha and the egg sando! The salmon was good but I think just a bit too much rice. I mean it is Texas sized! Over all a pretty good experience! Ube matcha was delicious!
I got the potato croquette, the blash sesame hoshi, and yuzu strawberry butterfly tea. The butterfly tea was super yummy! The potato croquette was fresh and crispy with a good amount of potato inside! The sauce it came with was sweet but it helped because the croquette wasnt really salted, just potato (it was really good still). The black sesame hoshi had good flavor but was a little dry for my taste. Overrall i would come back because theres a bunch of other things id like to try!

6/1/25 So I was excited to come and try their onigiris and other items. My experience wasn’t bad, but the food was very underwhelming. And the specific reason is because the food was extremely sweet. The sauce on the Takoyaki was extremely sweet. After the first one I knew I was going to struggle eating it. Then the miso salmon was also very sweet. Which was very odd. The sukiyaki onigiri had good flavor. The problem with their onigiris is also the ratio of rice to filling. It’s probably like 80% rice and 20% filling. It needs to be better balanced. The drinks were okay, but the best item has to be the strawberry matcha Daifuku! That was truly amazing and delicious. My gf said she would come back just for that. I also will come back though because I want to try other items. Hopefully my next visit is better.
