3rd time coming from Montreal and eating here. Very good food. Great portions. Great salad bar and good service all at a decent price. Will come back again for sure.
This was my first visit to the Butcher Block. I got the special, honey BBQ Christy chicken sandwich. This came with salad and soup bar. Salad bar was nice, soup was outstanding (we had to grab a pint to go)! The crispy chicken was above standard, and huge!! My lunch companion also got a turkey sandwich that was also huge. Staff was attentive. Overall I do recommend the Butcher Block.
I had an excellent fish-forward meal at Butcher Block!!! I ordered the fish sandwich and it was super duper yummers!🤤😁😁The service was great- especially our amazing hostess! She recommended the Tollhouse cookie pie and it definitely excited my tastebuds😋😋😋 10/10 Would eat here again!!!
Walking right in, I felt incredibly welcomed by the friendly staff and I was taken care of right away. The service was great and they were attentive. The food was really good, they had the portebello Swiss for soup and it had exceeded all of my expectations. Quite frankly I could have gotten my fill from the soup alone! The atmosphere was nice and the place was bumping for sure. The dessert menu was simply the cherry on top and the toll house pie was recommend by the wonderful and amazing hostess, it was phenomenally chocolatey and is prime delicacy to end a meal. I must add that the fries were light, crispy and airy as well. Overall, I genuinely would come here to eat again. Thank you Butcher Block for a nice lunch.
Amanda was our server. She was very good even though she was on a double shift being tired she still was very nice natured. I appreciated her. She left before the food came out as it was getting closer to closing. The girl who took over her table was no good at the job. She brought the food out asked if we needed anything I asked for butter and sour cream for the potato and another tea refill my daughter wanted starter sauce and she never came back to the table until she seen us waiting for the bill. I hope she doesn't get any of the tip. But it will be a while before I go back again. Food was great as it always is. Amanda is a great server however the heavy set waitress killed my wanting to go back again.
We ate here with a party of 5. We arrived during early enough for Happy Hour and just in time for Prime Rib. We had an excellent time! Our server's name was Riley and she took excellent care of us! She made sure we had everything we needed! Prime Rib, Stuffed Haddock, Rack of Ribs and Filet for the win! Everything was amazing!
Great service that was friendly and attentive at the right times. Burgers were excellent and cooked perfectly. I got the surf and turf burger which I would definitely get again with the chunks of lobster and Boursin sauce. Yeah it was messy, but so delicious. The French fries were fantastic. The soup, salad, bread bar is an enjoyable add on or if you’re inclined you can get it as a stand alone meal. I love the ambiance here and multiple seating options. They are closed on Sundays.
This was a great spot. Some of the dishes are a little bit on the more expensive side for my taste, but the diner special was a very good deal. The beef stew was great, the stuffed haddock was great, the prime rib was great. It was a very cozy atmosphere and the staff were gracious and available. This place was recommended to Us by strangers on a vacation and they did not disappoint. If we are ever back in the Plattsburgh area we will definitely stop by again.
It was very busy the evening I was there so it was very loud and a bit cramped. Even though it was busy the service was still very fast and there were plenty of servers on hand to manage the customers. Our server was friendly and attentive and the salad bar was nice and our food portions were more than adequate. My prime rib and shrimp were cooked how I asked and tasted well. My wife's fillet mignon was a generous cut and well cooked. It taste well but she said she has had others that were more flavorful. Overall good eats. If you are looking for a quiet dinner this is not the place but if you want good food with generous portions and attentive service this is a great place to go.
Hubby and I came for dinner tonight as a birthday treat. We have never been but have been meaning to give it a try (new to the general area). We ordered fried calamari with the sauce on the side, shrimp cocktail, and crab cakes for apps. Hubby loved the crab cakes. The flavor was good for me but too wet for my tastes. Calamari was great as was the shrimp cocktail. He ordered the stuffed haddock and I the porterhouse. Steak was cooked to a perfect medium throughout. It did need a good bit of salt as the flavor was pretty ho-hum but otherwise spot on. The stuffed haddock was middling. Our server, Daniel, was excellent. He was attentive and proactive. Overall, very pleasant experience and we will definitely be back when we come through again.
What a nice place to go. The barn is beautiful. The interior decor is really nice. The atmosphere is great. The food was excellent but the fries were a bit cold. We had good service but we were perplexed when we asked to change seats (I was getting too much air conditioning behind me) the waitress told us ok anyway we split the tip. It's really inappropriate I think to tell us that randomly. but other than that, I recommend it without hesitation Funny fact, you can play live lottery 🤩🤑🤠
1/18/23 stopped in for a late dinner around 8p. At the bar. Bartenders were friendly. I had the mussels in red sauce and they were good. Added salad/soup/bread bar for $7 (a good deal) and that turned out really well, decent bread and good soup, salad selection was fresh and tasty. I'd certainly add it on again. Great beer selection as well. Friendly locals too-
Had the salad bar originally, then added the French Onion Soup due to the fact the soup flavor of the day was Spinach Artichoke soup (dip!). Wasn't really the soup consistency I was expecting. Very thick. Unfortunately the Fench Onion soup got worse!? Very salty, unable to eat, had to send back. Salad bar had several options of fresh veggies, cheese, and proteins, ham and chicken, a few prepared deli salads and bread. Saving grace, great staff. I felt the waitress was sympathetic and apologized and removed the soup from my bill. Will definitely try again, I'll just skip the salad bar and soup.
Went with my family on a Saturday night. Upon arrival, the hostess did not greet us and appeared annoyed when we asked for a table for four, saying she needed to check availability. While that would have been understandable, the restaurant was nearly empty at the time. Our server, however, was very kind and pleasant. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the buffet—the “freshly baked” bread did not taste fresh. I ordered the mussels bianco, and most of them were closed and lacked flavor. I also had to ask for a plate to place the empty shells, which should have been provided. On a positive note, the Cuban sandwich and the quesadilla were both good.
This is a nice sports bar with a great atmosphere for drinking and watching games. But when it comes to the food, it’s really a shame. The fried calamari had thick batter and tiny pieces of squid — so small I felt like I was mostly eating fried dough. The shrimp scampi had good shrimp, but there wasn’t enough sauce for the fettuccine to properly soak it up, and the flavor was lacking, which made the dish quite bland. The Burgundy beef tips had an interesting sauce, but the meat was too chewy. Overall, the food wasn’t very satisfying.
The food was definitely overcooked. I had lobster Mac- the noodles were so mushy and over done, the lobster was way overcooked and honestly didn’t even taste like lobster. It was also swimming in butter. The service was decent, it was a bigger table so honestly hats off to handling that. The tables themselves need to be replaced, it’s not a great look when the table is rocking back and forth while we’re trying to eat our food. The inside is cute and seems well maintained. The bar has some good options, and overall drinks are good. Honestly I was just really taken aback by the food, for how much it costs I expected it to be better.
Went there on Friday for happy hour and the service was great, the food wasn't. Ordered the mussels and they were barely opened when they were served. Ordered a bowl of soup and that was not bad. Because of the service we decided to try again the next night for dinner. Once again the soup was the highlight of the meal. Ordered escargot for an appetizer and it was just smothered in garlic and butter. For my meal I ordered prime rib with baked potato. Everything was barely warm and the prime rib was over cooked and didn't have much flavor. We had 2 server's, one male and one female. The male was great but the female had no personality and was really cold.
Literally what is this. The fact that a chef put this on a plate is complete and utter gobbledygook. The meat was basically still grazing on the field when I bit into this burger. I did not realize the full extent until I brought it home. It looks like someone put it on a grille for 30 seconds and called it a day. What kind of establishment hires chefs that can’t even cook a burger? I enjoy a somewhat rare burger but there was no part of this that was cooked other than the outter skin. Butcher block, you better hope I don’t get food poisoning.
