Opinions de Bacari PDR Playa Del Rey
First time in and won’t be our last! Food was terrific and Trevor made the whole experience fun for the whole table - thank you for a great night!
Bacari is such a great spot for brunch and dinner. The staff goes above and beyond. The food is creative and delicious. The atmosphere is great for brunch with friends, a first date, or make it your regular spot! Our server, Q (don’t know how to spell it but I’m pretty sure that’s what he said), was attentive and friendly. Mikai also gave us a great experience!
Bacari is a delight! There’s something for everyone on the menu, and the cocktails are excellent. Service is always warm and competent, and our server tonight, Dani was wonderful - we felt very welcome and well looked after. Always order The Best Cake, and get it with bacon and ice cream - you won’t regret it!
Absolutely amazing first time experience. The food was delicious, my favorite was the egg pizza, with the crab cake benedict a close second. However, aside from the food the service was amazing! Our waitress Thalia was very welcoming, made great recommendations, and felt like a good friend by the end of the meal, after my friend and I polled her perspective on a conversation we were having. Will definitely be retuning to try more items in the future. P.S. Shout out to Brandy also for getting my friend right with the ice while she was heading out the door. Great people, wonderful service!
Such a fun place. It's small so get there early for happy hour. Cute decor but really good food too. Aist on the cheese tray is the midnight moon by Cypress cove.... The food is all small plates like Tapas so there are plenty of options. I enjoyed the pork bellyand buratta but the lamb stuffed eggplant was unreal as well as the Mac and cheese. The ceviche was a little small and there was a lot of bread.... Might skip that one if I went back. Good choice of cocktails, bears and wines .
Ambience: perfectly low lit, music not too loud; Drinks: DO NOT MISS, I don’t even like mezcal normally, but I found that the drinks with mezcal were surprisingly delicious; Service: our bartender Rodi was a goddess, and she makes the best drinks at Bacari. Recommendation: Browned Butter Sour and Mad Mango
GFs picked this place for an afternoon boozy catch up sesh and it was AMAZING. We chose this spot because they were dog friendly and they were SUPER dog friendly. Didn’t meet any as*hole customers who didn’t like dogs either. Everyone wanted to pet the doggos. We started off with a couple rounds of cocktails, the drink of the day which was some lavender gin sour, they also got oaxacan campfire and the brown butter sour. Then we settled on a bottle of Italian rose since they were out of the French. And then of course came the foooood: Burrata 5/5 Scallop 5/5 Fries 4/5 Pork belly 4/5 Marrow 4/5 Bacon dates 5/5 Asian pear flat bread 2/5 The servers were so nice. This nice gal served us when we came in around 3 and gave us a protip where to park. Then we got Steven when the changed shifts. Also very attentive even though he was running around super busy. I think the damage came out to be 260 something overall not bad and lots of food!
This place is a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it. We shared about 2 tapas each and were quite satisfied. Each dish was delicious, and our cocktails were delicious as well. Each question we asked or recommendation we requested was immediately and knowledgeably answered. When one of our group asked for a cocktail recommendation the bartender made her a custom drink based on her preferences and came out to the table to make sure we were all enjoying our drinks. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the food was delicious, and I would absolutely eat here again next time I get the opportunity.
I had a wonderful dining experience at Bacari, thanks to my server, Maria. She was exceptionally kind, friendly, and attentive throughout the evening. Her professionalism and warm personality made my visit truly enjoyable. Excellent service all around!
Selah was delightful. She was kind and extremely helpful. She answered questions about the menu, even when she was busy! I hope to have this wonderful waitress again soon, she made the dining experience a 10/10.
Maria was great. Selah was our first server and she was great too. We enjoyed our night, it was great service by both.
Maria was phenomenal!! The best service, excellent suggestions, and the food was delicious. I would love for her to be my server again
This is such a great restaurant to come to for any mood or craving! They truly carry something for everyone (vegetarian, vegan, gf, etc as well). Everything is served as small plates, so order a bunch of things to try and share. What to order: Drinks: - West side: This drink was such a fan favorite. It has a some spice from the jalepeno & was so tasty. - Strawberry fizz: I don't recommend ordering this. It was really watery and flavorless Food: - Brussel sprouts: These were so crispy and flavorful! I wanted to order so many more. - Bacari fries: These are so interesting and delicious. My boyfriend and I love them. They are served with a delicious sauce and fried egg on top. - Mussels: Yess these were delicious. They are served in a tomato sauce that I could literally drink it's so good! - Hunter's Mac & Cheese: The best!! You absolutely have to get the Mac n Cheese when you come here. It has toasted panko crumbs, white truffle oil, and a yummy cheesy fondue. - Salmon: very delicious. It is pan seared with walnut crust and garlic & herb bulgar. I definitely recommend. - Asian Pear & Brie Pizza: This was an absolute people pleaser. We ordered another one because we just needed more of this flavor. The combo of the pear with the brie is perfect. - Smoked Mushroom Pizza: I loveee this pizza! It is a white pizza and the crust is thin. Dessert: - Double chocolate cake: Best way to end the dinner. This cake was too good to be true. Absolutely getting this next time! I love this place. The experience in person is a fun, chill atmosphere. If you can't come in person, the food is also delicious as delivery as well. Can't to come back :)
Great! Great! Have not heard a single negative thing about this place BUT seating is kinda weird with some tables too tight or on a slope 🙃 The drinks are great ... the staff very friendly and helpful. The food....yummy!! Highly recommend - sea bass, oaxacan pasta, shawarma tacos and the chocolate lava cake 💪
It’s like cheers. No really. Well they might not know your name but they treat you like an old friend whom they miss. The means the service is always so special, warm, friendly and makes you want to bring your out of town guest here again and again. Great food and patio area has great views of sunset over the ocean. Perfect for casual friends food and cocktails or for a romantic date. You can’t go wrong with much on the menu.
The waiters, the host, the general manager. Everyone was so nice me and my friend and I visited on Sunday, and it was just the best place to be everyone. Not only the person that weighed on us. Everyone had great attitudes. , everyone checked on us to make sure we were doing well. All smiles all around, and the food was wonderful, fresh and good, and drinks were heavenly. Im definitely going back.
Some of the best and most creative food and drink I've had around LA at an attractive price. The traffic noise detracts a bit from the outdoor dining experience. The staff was fine but wasn't quite as attentive as I'd like. Specifically we brought a large group (15) and they didn't make an effort to place the small plates on the end of the table that ordered which resulted in some dishes being redundant ordered while another instance sat at the other end of the table uneaten.
Came in for dinner a few nights ago and Trevor was an outstanding server. Friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He made great recommendations and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Service like this is what keeps people coming back — thank you, Trevor!
One of my favorite restaurants in LA- their corn, filet, ceviche, pizza, their tapas style menu, was so delicious and good quality food. Atmosphere is awesome! Food had a great presentation - would def recommend this place to anyone in this area. Carmen was our server, the service was excellent.
Bacari PDR has been our cherished anniversary spot for half a decade now, a testament to the unforgettable moments we've shared within its welcoming walls. From our initial dates to our recent anniversaries, this restaurant has remained a constant in our lives. What truly sets Bacari PDR apart is the exceptional service and the warm, attentive staff. While parking might pose a minor challenge, the charming neighborhood offers ample street parking options, making it a small adventure in itself, complete with a leisurely walk to the restaurant. Our tradition here has always been to embark on a culinary journey, indulging in the delightful world of tapas. On this particular anniversary, we embraced this tradition with the same enthusiasm. The Grilled Pita, adorned with flavors that danced on our palates, was a delightful start. The Scallops, exquisitely prepared, followed suit, providing a seafood lover's dream. Of course, the star of the evening was the Petit Filet, cooked to perfection and paired with delectable sides that heightened the overall experience. But let's not forget the Mac & Cheese, a comforting and decadent delight that embodies the essence of comfort food. In a place where the menu is an enchanting tapestry of flavors and the service is consistently outstanding, it's impossible to make a wrong choice. Bacari PDR has not only been a restaurant but a part of our love story, and it never ceases to impress with its unforgettable dishes and impeccable service.
Went there for brunch on a Friday morning to celebrate my bf’s birthday and found out they only were serving dinner. (Brunch is only on the weekends). Was disappointed and considered leaving at first but the manager promised us he’d make it worth it to stay. So we did he and all the wait staff made my friend and I feel like VIPs. They really made sure she felt pampered on her bday, even bringing free dessert at the end of the meal. Our waitress and everyone who worked there were attentive friendly, and generous. The food, drinks & beach views were amazing and the fact that the plates are small allowed us to share 6 different items! It’s rare to find staff who provide this level of service and care, but they did not disappoint…will definitely be back!
Anytime I've come to Bacari it's a good time. The food is incredible and the bread pudding will always, always be ordered. (Along with the espresso martini that has condensed milk) Today, we had exceptional service from a red haired baddie named Maria. We came in about 45 minutes before they closed and ordered quite a few dishes -- she was so kind and had everything coming out on time! 10000/10 service, food, experience
I’ve been coming to Bacari for a couple years now and Trevor always helps me out with my first dates every time !!! Great suggestions, charismatic, and just overall awesome! Highly recommend the Asian pear and Brie pizza.
I went there for my birthday this year and I felt like a total queen! So many people came to my table and said happy birthday, and everyone who served us was a total job. As usual, the food is amazing and I’m so thankful for the staff. Maria, our waitress, who had the best recommendations and was always there when we needed something or just to check in. Thank you so much for making my Birthday special!
We sat outside and it was a bit loud with the music and people around us. The food was uniquely delicious. Some of the plates had a taste and flavors i’ve never experienced before. My favorite plates were mushroom pizza, watermelon salad and petite filet. The plates are small and you will have to order multiple plates, which is pricy because each plate is on average is $13-15
Bacari was amazing, but Micai and Selah totally made the night!! They were the sweetest, so fun, and took such good care of us the whole time. Seriously the kind of people who make you want to come back just for them. Such kind, amazing people that have the best energy and smiles. 10/10 vibes, food, and energy all around 🙌✨ THIS IS A MUST in PDR!!! You have to order the Tripoline Pasta and the Best Cake
Great food, great atmosphere, and even better service! I don’t normally leave reviews, but Selah was so exceptional, I had to give her a shout out! She made the dining experience even better!! Definitely recommend :)
One of few restaurants that I’m a regular at. Such a treat to relax in this lovely atmosphere - with yummy tapas and phenomenal staff. Maria and Micai always go out of their way to bring joy into the day of guests. Anyone can find something here to enjoy, but hey…just try it all. Thanks and see you again soon, Bacari <3
From arrival to departure, this dining experience was a delight. Ambitious menu of tasty tapas brilliantly executed by chef and a team of friendly professional servers - thanks Trevor! Bacari is a neighborhood gem in PDR that rivals bigger name restaurants in LA. Be sure to sit outside under the new tent with cozy heaters - the indoor dining area is smaller and noisy, a very different dining space.
Maria was our host and she was exceptional! she gave us really great recommendations! the food was amazing as usual as well.
Came here for a post dinner cocktail and dessert and wow were we pleasantly surprised. The cocktails are next level creative and the “Best” cake was a superbly prepared exploration in flavor and texture. The servers are very friendly and willing to spend a little time explaining the menu. I’m eager to come back for dinner.
Selah was amazing! She had such a wonderful personality and always made sure we were ok with the right amount of check-in’s. Her energy made the overall dining experience so wonderful 😊
I came in after researching this place online. Selah was an amazing waiter super friendly and it was a genuine friendliness not I'm on the clock friendly. She was very informative. Gave a nice breakdown of the menu, explained everything and even recommended some of her favorites. The atmosphere is really nice. Nicely lit. Will definitely be back in the near future and hope to come on a day Selah is there.
I LOVE this location. The team here is so cool and accommodating and the food/drinks/desserts are sooooo tastey.. just like the other locations (but this location is one of my favs). I plan my time in PDR/ MDR around coming here.... I was most recently here for a Saturday brunch. It's always awesome.. thank you for the wonderful time! Will be back soon! ❤️
Been meaning to enjoy a brunch here! My friend had a birthday brunch and this was the perfect spot. Our party of 8 made a reservation about a week in advance. Highly recommended as this place gets packed. Perched atop their parking lot that has been redone into a breezy bright brunch spot, you feel tucked away and high up at the same time. The walk down the hill after a few sangrias is another story! Their menu is phenomenal. Order 1 tapas plate to be shared by 2 or 3 people is what we found worked for us. Favorite item was their chicken wings. Each sauce served was a mind blowing addition to the bites. For $30 per person, you can have unlimited mimosas, sangria, and Bellinis for 90 minutes. Worth it if you want to have a fun time with friends. You can walk it off at the beach nearby before heading home 😄
Never disappoints. For years now, Bacari has always been one of my favorite restaurants in California. Their food combines the most unique combinations to result in delicious heaven and nothing beats their 90 minute open bar drinks deal. I’ve been to multiple Bacari locations, but PDR remains my favorite by far. Their service always goes above and beyond. From the second we arrived, we were greeted with smiles upon smiles. Trevor, our server, made the experience one we could never forge. He was so friendly and able to anticipate our every need. One word: incredible. Until next time :)
I LOVE MARIA! she was the best when we were celebrating my boyfriends celebration. the service was incredible and i cannot wait to return. Bacari was the best service restaurant I have been to.
Our first trip to Bacari (and second trip ever to California) was made especially memorable by our very sweet server: Selah! She was very friendly as well as attentive. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and she and the staff made it very memorable. All of our dishes were delicious, with one being better than the next. The bread pudding was a wonderful dessert. We chose to eat outside and the heaters made the experience very cozy. This restaurant was very well managed as well. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Every dining experience I’ve had here is impeccable. The staff are all so nice and attentive. Trevor was on point with solid recommendations. Yesterday’s brunch was a fun morning and one of the best dining experiences we've had yet. Truly appreciate everyone's efforts and extra attention. Kudos to the Bacari team!
This was our first time visiting this restaurant and it far exceeded our expectations. I enjoyed the set-up of the place with two bars, a small separate dining area, as well as a large outdoor space. The house mezcal is fantastic and the cocktails are delicious (and decently strong). We had the green falafel, Bacari fries, and vegan pizza with a GF crust, and all were amazing! We eat GF and mostly plant-based, and there were plenty of options for us (we only splurged on the egg with our fries). This will definitely not be the last time we are here, and I would highly recommend this place to anyway in the area.
This was hands down my favorite restaurant experience I’ve EVER had in LA. The food is incredible, the restaurant ambiance is stunning but what really took the cake (don’t even get me started on the best cake ever - by far the literal best cake I’ve ever had…but I digress) for me was the service. So attentive, so kind and charming. Selah and Micai took care of us that night and to be honest, they are the full reasons why I’ll definitely be going back to this exact location. 100/10 would definitely recommend.
I love bringing everyone I know to Bacari! The staff is always so friendly and helpful, the food is incredible(get the scallop medallions and the Love Letter), you’re right by the ocean, I mean everything is perfect. Went for a joint birthday tonight and our server was so attentive and gave us a round of bubbles to celebrate. Thank you for another incredible meal!
Each time I've gone I've been pleased with my choices. The Pear and Brie pizza with arugula and guava sauce is My Favorite. The Jadori chicken wings and Mac and cheese is my child's favorite and the open face burger is also a hit in my home. Sunset views are Gorgeous.
I can officially say I have been to all Bacari locations. Each one has its own unique vibe. This one is no exception. It’s a smaller location in comparison to other locations except the Americana one. Really cozy location, feels more home-y. I took my wife here for our 1st year married. Daniela was our server and she was amazing, very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Recommend the cauliflower, the burrata, Brussels sprouts, and the stuffed mushroom. Wife liked the gnocchi and margarita pizza. For desserts I recommend the bread pudding and the date cake.
bacari PDR is one of my favorite restaurants! Thalia in particular is phenomenal, she took amazing care of my family and i as it was their first time here. she was so sweet, so knowledgeable, and an overall great help. the staff here is incredible and i look forward to coming here every time! not a single dish was untouched tonight. thank you Thalia and thank you Bacari PDR ❤️
I had visited once before many years ago but during a recent visit to Los Angeles I came back . We had made reservations which is a must at this location in PDR. The vibe is cool and relaxed and staff does a great job — there is not one exclusive waiter but they all work together as a team which I thought was great . What was once a parking lot on the side of the restaurant has been turned into an outdoor dining area , with outdoor heaters and a little cramped but the food makes up for it . Started with some refreshing cocktails . Good pours and nicely prepared. As this is a Mediterranean with slightly Middle East influences the menu focuses on tapas . Cold plates we got the roasted rainbow beets with a whipped chèvre. Delicious and well seasoned . Also their Little Gem salad was a great crunch combo of chickpeas and bacon and greens and balanced vinaigrette. Hot tapas time and we really enjoyed all of them ! Green falafel with a creamy harissa sauce was extremely good. Chicken schnitzel was extra crispy and gluten free so one of the people on our party really enjoyed it ! Mujadara rice was okay for me others really enjoyed it - I would have hoped for more spices and no egg but that’s a personal preference. Pork chop was perfectly cooked with multiple flavors including Aleppo oil pearl onions and crème fresh (also gluten free). Finally the Brussel sprouts were devine with the ideal crust caramelized as they should be . For desert I was surprised to see Malabi on the menu , having been a huge fan of Mahalabi in Lebanese restaurants, their version of Malabi is refreshing with a layer hibiscus syrup and roasted pistachios and shaved coconut. A truly different take on one of my favorite deserts . Fantastic dinner , great vibes from the staff and memorable evening . Parking can be hard especially as you go up the hill into the neighborhood but the views from the top are worth it .
I’m only in town for a week, but I want to come back tomorrow and try the whole menu! Food is served tapas style and brought out as prepared. ORDER THE SEABASS!!!! Matter of fact order 2! Crispy skin, flaky fish on a bed of tarragon aioli 🤤! 10/5 Tripoline pasta: I’m not a high pasta girly. But the server kept saying it was his favorite when I would ask about others. So let’s do it! 5/5. Not traditional flavor. The almond and cilantro with a tiny hint of spicy! Tuscan kale salad: 5/5 good! That’s it that’s all. Order it all! Heard another table telling another table they had to order the bread pudding. I was already busting out of my pants. Sooooo “Can I get it to go?” …after getting back to my hotel, snuggled into bed to eat my dessert. I found a bowl of undercooked soggy white bread, not even a brioche, challah. This had to be made from wonder bread and regular milk not even condensed sweetened. Awful. Coziest patio with lots of heaters and smooth pop playing!
Second time going! While i don’t remember the name of our server the first time (tall, redheaded gentleman with the goatee), he was very attentive and good-humored. It helped that it was not terribly busy that evening. Today, however, Trevor did his best to accommodate us despite how hectic the Valentines’ crowd/rush was. Between the quality of the food and the quality of the staff, this location has solidified itself as a date night staple for us. And for the love of god please get the beets they’re amazing
Great atmosphere and was treated so kindly by the staff. Some of the dishes were great but the potato tacos wasn’t the greatest the potato’s tasted a little dried out. My partner and I have been to other tapas style restaurants and we love the small eats style. The staff was amazing and accommodating to our needs. Would definitely come back to try out other dishes! 😋
This is my 6th time at Bacari Playa Del Rey and every time gets better ! Tonight 1/18 we were taken care by DANIELA , she was very attentive and was always there to answer any questions about the menu! The service was excellent, our mock tails came quickly , even tho the restaurant looked busy our food arrived instantly ! We started our dinner with the famous sprouts in their pomegranate crème and beets, we continued with DANIELA recommendation which was the Brie and pear pizza ! 10/10 !! We end up our dinner with the pork chop! Chef kiss ! Thank you again Bacari PDR !! And I highly recommend DANIELA as your host and server ! Bacari take care of her we will be back for more!
Bacari is hands down my favorite restaurant. I love this place because it’s the perfect spot to try many different dishes and share everything. The prices are also very accessible, which makes it even better! Beyond the food, the atmosphere is very special. Everyone is incredibly friendly and makes you feel genuinely welcome, like you’re really being taken care of. Today we were helped by Daniela, and she was amazing. She was so attentive, gave us great dish recommendations, and kept checking in to make sure we were enjoying our experience. She really made us feel comfortable and cared for. Experiences like this are exactly why Bacari continues to be my favorite place to come back to.
Bacari has become one of our absolute favorites ..and truly a family restaurant for us. My wife and daughter love it so much that we go multiple times a month. We’ve been to every Bacari location and tried just about everything on the menu (even as it changes from time to time), but this location stands out in a special way. While every Bacari offers exceptional service, the PDR location takes it to another level. We actually visit this one less often simply because of distance, yet every time we walk in, we’re remembered by name. I’ll even get a text from the manager an hour before arriving, checking in to see if we need anything. The entire staff takes the time to truly know you....and when you’ve dined somewhere this many times and explored the entire menu, that kind of personal touch makes all the difference. Bravo to the PDR team for consistently making us feel at home.
Great restaurant! We came here looking for somewhere to eat on New Year’s Eve (already anticipating a busy day and wondering if they’d have any space to accommodate us), but when we asked the host they were extremely nice and said they could squeeze us in even without a reservation. They sat us promptly and then our kind server explained the menu to us and went over what they recommend. The theme of the restaurant is small plates/tapas style and they have an array of wonderful different dishes to choose from. We opted for the ceviche, burrata caprese, shawarma tacos, fried chicken sliders, and Moroccan cigars and a few drinks for both of us. When I tell you everything was delicious I mean everything — from the drinks to the food, everything was perfectly seasoned and extremely well prepared. The server was prompt with checking in with us and we were never left wondering where they were or felt unattended — all of that paired with a cozy atmosphere and heaters made us feel welcome. 10/10 would gladly come by again and plan to!
How have I lived 10 min from here for 2 years and my first visit was last night?!!?! Where do I even start...... We sat inside in the bar area and the atmosphere was welcoming, cozy and upbeat. Selah, our sweet server was friendly and helpful and offered for us to taste the wines we were considering. (That's always a bonus for me. A place that wants you to absolutely love and enjoy your wine choice!!!). It was girls night, just my friend and I. She's vegetarian and I have a nut allergy but Selah was super helpful in guiding us. The menu has a lot of vegetarian options, there are a lot of dishes with nuts but plenty without. My friend had the stuffed mushrooms and I got the seabass and we shared the recommended date cake (sounds weird but, just trust) while we sipped our delectable wines. Everything was delicious. The bartender, Brad, was energetic and attentive and played The Best music all night, Foreigner, Fleetwood Mac, Blondie, David Bowie....every single song we were totally rocking out to. The manager, Logan? came by to greet us and Maria kindly closed us out and made sure we had a great experience. Stellar service, incredible atmosphere, delicious food and wine. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. Highly recommend, oh yea, and I have a high bar. I'm from SF and worked in and enjoyed Napa Valley wineries and high end dining restaurants of the Bay Area. It takes a lot to impress me. Bacari PDR wins!!!
Let me start by saying I wish we had this restaurant in San Francisco! The food was absolutely delicious, and I highly recommend ordering everything I’ve posted in this review. I can’t wait to come back and try more items. If I had to choose favorites, they would be the cauliflower, chicken schnitzel, and the fried chicken sliders- but honestly, everything was amazing. Also, a special shoutout to Liz and Tyler for their great service. Thank you for making our first visit so memorable!
Bacari PDR is hands down my favorite restaurant. The food is unreal. I’m obsessed with the cauliflower, the ceviche, the madurada, and the margarita pizza. And the Bacarita drink is SO bomb. Truly no misses on the menu. Also Makai deserves a HUGE shoutout because he is the best. He always greets us when we walk in, makes us feel so welcomed, and brings the best energy every time. The staff is so friendly and genuinely makes the whole experience even better.
Blown away by quality of food and service. Thalia was amazing. We were a party of 4 and it was our first time. She explained everything in detail. Also when we ordered a tapas that only had 3 items she was thoughtful enough to ask if we wanted a 4th so everyone could try! We tried about 3 dishes per person and it was the perfect amount. Pork belly was amazing, chips with ceviche amazing, pear and Brie pizza, drooling over how good this was. Roasted garlic in the olive oil for bread, mmmmm. Custer desert amazing. Our server even made our coffee. The collaborative level of service is apparent and everyone working is helping each other out. Wish wings had ranch instead of blue cheese lol. 10/10 everything. Next time in LA want to try the Silver Lake location. Parking can be tough here and inside seating is limited but tons of outdoor seating with heaters.
This was my second time visiting Bacari in Playa Del Rey and I was once again blown away! The atmosphere in this place is outstanding, from the gas fire lamps and string lights, to the throwback songs playing over the speakers and unbelievably accommodating waitstaff that brought us complimentary champagne with floating rose petals. You can’t find a better spot to eat walking distance from the beach here! For the most memorable experience, I recommend arriving just before sunset to enjoy both the golden hour glow and the night time lighting in this outdoor space. Dishes are best split between a group of people so you can enjoy multiple items since they serve a more tapas style instead of a full meal per plate. We ordered the crudo to start, which was a significant amount of fish, thinly sliced and covered in a tart, lemon salsa that reminded me of the chunky texture of chimichurri, though not as oily. The thin slices of lemon on top added an extra pop of acidity with each bite that wasn’t overpowering. We also enjoyed the crispy pork belly that was cooked in a savory, umami sauce until caramelized. The flavor went deep into the meat, so it was probably marinated for a long time as opposed to just tossed in a sauce at the end. It paired well with the large portion of mujadara lentil and basmati rice pilaf we ordered, though keep in mind this dish is extremely filling. The crispy shallots on top added a great contrast to the warm, creamy texture of the pilaf, and the lemon’s bright flavor lightened the flavor palette despite the hardy ingredients. We even mixed some of the leftover pork belly sauce with the rice and it was delicious! For our veggie, we ordered the brussel sprouts, which were perfectly crispy all the way to the center, almost as if they were able to separate all of the layers for maximum crisp. The chipotle sauce on top was creamy and slightly spicy, but not overbearing. Sometimes restaurants make the mistake of drenching charred vegetables like this with too much sauce, but they nailed the proportions. Lastly for dessert we ordered the malabi, a rosewater custard with coconut, hibiscus, and pistachios. The custard wasn’t overpowered by the floral flavor and the raw flakes were candied, so the coconut flavor really came out without needing to toast them. I also loved that the pistachios were whole instead of tiny pieces because it added a textural bite the dessert needed. My only note is that it would be even better if it had a wafer in it, whether a roll or pistachio wafers.
Bacari MDR helped me put together a last minute dinner party for a large party (15 colleagues and clients). Eddie and the entire events team were extremely responsive to my initial commuinications and immediately put my concerns to rest. They helped me understand the availability, food and drink options and the cost structure. It was clear they weren't trying to nickel and dime me but rather aiming to help focus on making the process seamless and worry-free. They even helped craft a custom menu, with our client's logo, which was a really nice touch. Their menu allows for such a great variety of choices (hot, cold, main/side dishes and dessert) and our entire party left completely full and raving about the experience. Unlike some places that skimp out on family style portions for large groups, they served more than enough for each course. Some of the highlights were the shawarna tacos, the beet salad, brussel sprouts and the Asian Pear & brie pizza was incredible! We had someone with a nut allergy so even though I had selected a dessert with nuts, they brought out chocolate cake as an alternative. Our server, Selah was awesome! She had a great attitude and was incredibly attentive to our large group. She and the entire staff ensured all the food and drinks came out in a timely manner. The overall vibe of Bacari is awesome! Our clients were located nearby so it was easy to get to and we sat out in the covered patio area, which was full of energy (and space heaters to keep everyone toasty). I would definitely recommend Bacari for any type of outing but especially for a large group!
The best dining experience I've had in a while! Bravo Bacari PDR. We made a last minute resy and were seated quickly on the patio. It was a beautiful day and we had superb service from the staff. Everyone was kind and helpful, especially Micai! Very knowledgeable about the menu and had the BEST recommendations. We shared a bunch of tapas: - our faves: the cauliflower and broccoli! musts, so delicious - glazed pork belly: always delicious. perfect mix of crunchy, melty, charr, sweet, savory - sea bass: great! nice texture, love the crispiness, sauce, and perfectly paired sides - smoked mushroom pizza- good pizza, asked for red pepper flakes to accompany - watermelon cocktail: refreshing - love letter: quite possible the best cocktail l've ever had! The perfectly toasted marshmallow taste and texture was insane when paired with the honeyed whiskey, passion fruit cocktail. So freaking good - the best cake: how do they even get it to melt like that something I have to have every time I visit now - bread pudding: good in its own right, but pales in comparison to the best cake We finished our feast with lavender oatmilk lattes that were the most beautiful exclamation point on our dinner before we went to watch the sunset. 100000/10
The food is delicious, our server Sarah is great and so is the manager Liz, very helpful and thoughtful! The atmosphere is nice and our favorite dishes so far are: The Petit Beef Filet Passilla pepper pasta with cilantro cream Burrata Caprese with Pesto with fresh Baguette Golden Beets with a great sauce Asian Pear Pizza! Best Date Cake with ice cream!
The service started haphazardly. Woman said she'd sit us and then literally went off to do something else. When she passed by us standing there she didn't even remember or us or say a word. Fortunately a man seated us and waited on us the whole night. Excellent service. Food was very tasty tho definitely small. The burger and scallops were awesome. Beef cheeks were good but too much spice powder overwhelmed the flavor and texture of the meat
The food was a bit mediocre and for the fact they intended the menu to be shareable, some dishes were a bit small. Liz and Bridger were great service though, absolutely loved both of them 💖
Tapas to share, good atmosphere 5/5 Shrimp Ceviche - loved the lime chili dusting on the nachos 5/5 Asian Pear & Brie Gluten Free Pizza - good combo, the crust was sweet & crispy 5/5 Shawarma Tacos - loved the picked red onion 4/5 Ricotta & Beet Gnocchi 4/5 Grilled Chicken Breast - chicken was cooked perfectly. it had capers, and that sauce made it too salty for me (table loved this dish) Bone marrow - very fatty 5/5 Best Cake - so delicious, doesn't taste like dates at all, I was worried about the bacon but that wasn't overwhelming. We also added a scoop of ice cream which tied the dessert together perfectly 3/5 Strawberry fizz - it was delicious but I didn't taste the vodka at all
Cute spot right near the beach! I went here with a couple friends yesterday, one who had recommended we all try it. The whole deal is they serve small plates and you’re meant to get 2-3 items per person. What’s fun is you can decide when things come out, or you can let the waiter course it out for you. I personally got the mac and cheese and the apple brie pizza and they both were incredible. The pizza was the highlight of the night. We got the fries to share amongst us and the egg included on top was oddly amazing. My friends got the margarita pizza, their other pasta offered, and the chicken sliders. Everything had something about it that made it seem and taste more gourmet, more special. My only con would be price since at about 2-3 items per person you’re looking at about $30+ without drinks included. But honestly the food is worth it and it really is a super cute spot. Notable mention are the accommodating and friendly staff! We realized we had to leave in 45min and they got out food out super fast!
The place is cool, great atmosphere , prices are decent but the food is just good. Nothing too crazy. We went for brunch and honestly there are better spots in the area. Bloody Mary was meh, portions are very small sometimes. You end paying $40 or $50 + tip a piece for a decent meal with drinks. I don't think is worth it. P. S. The ceviche is a spoon of raw fish on top of a load of bread, very disappointing
We came here on recommendation from my son. The waiter was friendly and warned us that the dishes are smaller. The quality of food was moderately good. I am not too impressed with it. Probably I was expecting excellent food choices. In any case, this place would not be one of my favorites. However, just to be fair, I had given 4 stars.
Went to brunch here with my friend to do a little catch up while I was visiting the area for work. I must say that the service was just tremendous and I really appreciated the energy of our waitress as well as her recommendations! The menu was definitely great because it has a little twist to it (specially for brunch) and the taste was just so good! I would say the atmosphere is cool, but it could be leveled up a little bit and incorporate the view of the water if possible.
We went to Bacari for the first time. It was my wife and my 10th anniversary. Although the portions are extremely small, the food is extremely tasty. We ordered six different dishes, and my favorites were the scallops, shrimp, ceviche, and Seabass. The restaurant has a nice setting, although it is extremely loud and sometimes hard to hear your conversations from across the table. The bar has a nice ambience and is very nice as well, and it is extremely quiet.
We were in town for a short stay and it was my birthday so we chose Bacari for dinner since we found the menu looked like I had many vegetarian options available. There were two of us and we were greeted by Trevor who smelled absolutely wonderful! I even pointed this out to another table of two women he was serving, which made him smile. He was very helpful and said he thought we’d be fine ordering 4 plates and sharing them between the two of us. We choose the smoked mushroom & cheese pizza, the fried chicken sliders, roasted Brussels sprouts & Mac & cheese. Pizza was delicious, no complaints. The fried chicken sliders were beautifully crusted and tasty but not a fan of the olive aioli, overpowering to me. The Brussels sprouts were very good and the Mac & cheese sauce was decadent and flavorful but I found the pasta shells to be a bit gummy and wouldn’t order again. It was a delicious meal and drinks were great, will definitely return again when we’re in LA. Thanks Trevor!
We rediscovered this spot during the pandemic and had an amazing dinner the first time we visited. This past weekend, we decided on a brunch, and I do have to say, this restaurant is definitely a dinner recommendation from me. The weekend brunch is filled with folks trying to get their bottomless mimosas in, and frankly, that’s just not the kind of crowd I want to be around. But all businesses deserve to make their money, so be warned that’s what you may run into on a Saturday or Sunday. As for the food, they have some really imaginative creations. Kudos to the chef!! We really enjoyed all of the dishes we ordered during our dinner and our brunch. The food is what will get us to come back again and again. And what a variety of flavors and dishes. There really is something for everyone! This is a tapas style place, so if you’re a light eater but want to enjoy some variety, I’d say 3-4 dishes should do it for you and one other guest. If you’re a super light eater, than the two of you can get away with 3 dishes, especially if you’re going to enjoy some drinks. The patio of the restaurant is very cute at night, but during the day, you can see the true state of the place which needs some updating. I’d say the one really terrible part of the restaurant is the bathroom off the patio. It’s disgusting and quite horrifying; I’m surprised they tell customers to use it. Please put some money to make this acceptable!
All honesty here; the food is pleasing to the eye but extremely small portioned so don’t come here hungry it’s not actually “shareable”, flavor wise it’s a 7/10, and moneywise compared with what you’re paying for it’s $$$ (3) dollar signs worth, in other words expensive. (Here are a couple of photos keep in mind we made the food look bigger for social media purposes)
This is a place for drinks/drinking for a steal price. The food is to accompany drinks but as a stand alone leave a lot to be desired (if youre a foodie).
The waitress talked a good game about the food but the experience failed. The stuffed mushrooms were small and basically just covered in pesto sauce. The chicken tacos were bland and cold. The one dish we did enjoy was the broccoli.
During lockdown, we sat in their parking lot under a tent with some makeshift table and chairs. Bottomless drinks are $30 for a 90 min limit so expect choppy service as the waitstaff seems to be overwhelmed with refills. The food presentation was pleasant until the avocado toast came out burnt. The Bloody Marys were watered down so we just ordered champagne. When an establishment is bustling with dozens of people, owners should hire a DJ so the music drowns out the chitter chatter. Overall, this is a cracking venue for a group of friends (no more than 6 at a table) to celebrate a birthday, an achievement or a Sunday Funday.
It’s a small place but I usually love going here but this last time I went here was not it. I came with a big party to celebrate a milestone in my life. At the beginning we had fantastic staff who were kind, respectful and chill. Then we were given a waitress with reddish maybe brown hair. A headband, not too tall not too short. Very rude, unprofessional, and awkward when asked a question. Whenever I placed an order with her it took 30 minutes to get the food or the drink. When asked a question she would say “I need to check” and then walk away and not return for at least 15 minutes. For example I ordered the open bar for one person. I allowed a friend of mine to take a sip of one of the drinks I ordered. She then came to me and said because of this I was “sharing” and that she was going to charge me again. The manager, I assume because he wasn’t in uniform, even said they wouldn’t usually charge but she reported it so they had no option but to charge. Ruined my night and experience I won’t be coming back here because of her. Bacari should really think of the staff they have and train them how to properly work with there customers.
Food is pretty good, pretty consistent. Come here pretty often, we live near by. Service is awful honestly gets worse every time we come here. Last time we sat at the table and waited for 20 min before we got water. When the manager finally noticed us, he yelled at his staff (we watched him do it), then came up to us and took our order, strongly encouraged us to order drinks, then didn’t comp them- was weird. But the service here just sucks, everything from being slow the whole time, to not being able to find our server when it’s time to check out, servers arguing about ingredients used in the dishes (which results in them being sent back to the kitchen, such as black pepper and basil leaves on the cheese pizza ) to my boyfriend finishing his meal before I even receive my appetizer. Tonight was kinda the final straw. Really disappointing.
