Opinions de Chinese Szechuan Restaurant Pleasanton
This is the best Chinese American* food I've ever had, hands down, no contest. Every dish is cooked fresh to order and you can taste the love and passion in every bite. The quality is unmatched: crispy, perfectly fried entrees and flavors that truly stand out. While the price might seem high at first, the portions are incredibly generous and the protein-to-price ratio is simply unbeatable. I've had the kung pao chicken and orange chicken last me for four meals before! So when is it a good time to eat here? Lunch service comes with smaller entrees, but includes a choice of fried, brown, or white rice, plus spring rolls. At dinner, the entrees are enormous and we've frequently been treated to free crab rangoons and spring rolls! But trust me: dining in is the way to go. There’s always plenty of seating, and the experience of having your food fried just minutes before it reaches your table is unforgettable. Is it worth eating in? Because nothing beats the freshness. That freshly fried crunch for their orange chicken or honey walnut prawns, which disappears within minutes, is on an entirely different level and something I haven't tasted anywhere else. Everything on the menu is fantastic, but the honey walnut prawnsa re truly to die for. My go-to order is the jiajiang mien (5th picture, the black bean paste with noodles), honey walnut prawns (3rd picture), and kung pao chicken. The fried rice with chicken is also a great safe option and the Chinese chicken salad is a great option for someone more calorie conscious. This restaurant is a hidden gem in Pleasanton and it would be a tragedy to lose it! They deserve our support, so come out and try it while you still can! * Note that I say it's Chinese American. While the name seems to suggest Sichuan food, the items on the menu are closer to Panda Express than what you'd see at a Hai Di Lao or Din Tai Fung. I haven't seen a single Szechuan pepper in any of the food 😅, but who cares, the food tastes incredible and that's what really matters!
What a wonderful find!! Thanks Reddit for leading me here on a whim while searching for good JJM's in bay area. Ok, it was so good, like when u watch ppl in kdrama slurp down their JJM and u thinking that looks absolutely delicious, well it was that!!! There's alot of ingredients in the saucy bowl, a generous amount of protein mixed in with crunchiness of onions, great balance of flavors. Yummm Portion is big, had to take leftovers to go. Staff is friendly and sociable, restroom super clean. Lol I will be back to try their other dishes for sure! Thanks! *They have been around since 1987 😱💪
A Pleasanton landmark! We have eaten at the Chinese Szechuan for many years and keep coming back. Everything is so fresh and delicious that it is our go-to takeout spot. Quick service from very personable staff. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

I love this place, it's my mother in-laws favorite Chinese food in the world. Her favorite is the honey walnut shrimp! My personal favorite is the broccoli beef and egg drop soup. Broccoli beef is the best I've ever had. The food tastes fresh, not grease or too salty. Very good
Be careful if you come here, you might not be able to get out of your seat afterward! This restraunt is an amazing choice for a Christmas Eve dinner. This place is sooooo delicious and scrumptious! I am glad we ate here and am excited to eat there again. I went with 5 family members, and I would recommend the Gourmet Dinner for a group.
Tina and her staff make you feel very warm and invited. Super good food, my favorite is the soup Jam Bong. Great lunch portions Better family size portions for dinner. Favorite lunch destination even when I am not in the area - well worth the drive.
Servers were kind enough to make the soups without shrimp, food was delicious definitely made fresh! Big servings and a quiet, clean, nicely decorated atmosphere.
I like the egg fried rice and pork pineapple.
Best Chinese food I’ve ever had. The nicest servers ever. It’s the only thing I miss about moving away from Pleasanton. House Special Beef, Black Bean Fish and Barbecue Pork appetizer are not to miss!
I went here all the time when I was a kid in the early to mid 2000s Every time we walked in the owner would greet us & ask us if we wanted Pot Stickers. He always remembered us Now in my late 20s, me & a few childhood friends decided to drop by while we were back in the area for a bit The food is sooooo good, just like it was all those years ago. The employees are super nice & made sure to keep checking on us. Our drinks always stayed full as well.
My family has gone here for years. It's our favorite around, and the staff is the best!
You'd better get in while you can, I heard this place "isn't gonna be around forever" and it's REALLY good.

We come back again and again because the food and the service are great. Today we tried the spicy garlic wontons for the first time and they were fantastic.

On a whim, we stopped for dinner. Friendly, clean, beef and vegetables stir fry was good (little salty), chicken was good. Satisfied!

My family went here based on a recommendation of a local. We were placed at a table in the back corner and had to wait for drink and food orders after other tables were sat and gave their orders. We ordered egg rolls for the table before we found out egg rolls came free. So we received two plates. (We didn’t finish the second plate so don’t make that mistake) Food was good but we could have had the same or better closer to home.
Pick up order/$90.00. Was ready in 20min. Staff very friendly. Inside seemed cozy and nice. Moo shu pork - bland; tortillas were.. different, no hoisin/plum sauce included which made the whole dish disappointing. Orange chicken - could have been any other dish/no orange flavor at all. Very soft. Fried wontons & chicken chow Mein standard. Egg rolls good (more spring rolls vs egg rolls tho) Pork fried rice - decent but also on the softer side. Good portion.

I can’t knock it for being a local spot but I’m not judging on that. My rating is based on food having no Szechuan character, overly sweet red sauce and water being served in a reused container from some other beverage. Wow. That was a zero effort move. Chow mein was without any redeeming quality other than bland. Szechuan tofu was the smallest portion and least flavorful. Bean was the same. I won’t write it too pointedly but for half the price you can get better fast food. Keep local makes the only sense!
Really disappointed with my takeout order from this place. To begin with they got the order wrong, and the food was bland and underwhelming. For the price, I expected much better quality. Definitely won’t be coming back.
Veg chow mein had no flavor. Wife couldn't eat it. I had to soak it in soy sauce to make it bearable. Broccoli beef was worse with a nasty aftertaste. Szechuan fish was tough like sweet n sour chicken with pepper. Not worth $10 per item. You'd have to pay me to go back. Kinda feel sorry for the homeless person who finds what I threw away.

$27 for wor wonton soup and egg rolls!! No flavor or seasoning on anything - never again.
It was my first time and very disappointed. I ordered the lunch special beef with broccoli with steam rice. the food tasted bland. the beef were small in size and the rice was average. I tried to upgrade the taste with soy sauce and hot sauce but it didn't do any good
