Opinions de Honey Baked Ham Pleasanton
Best ham on planet earth bar none, it’s ridiculously tasty. Just buy the honey baked ham that’s their specialty, you won’t regret it. Just buy a huge one and eat ham sandwiches with it for a week it’s amazing :)
Twice a year we get a honey baked ham...for xmas and Thanksgiving. Always fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and courteous in the Pleasanton Ca. store. UPDATE 2019 Unfortunately this year I spent $80 on a ham and there was absolutely no crackling and no glaze. My family and our guests were very disappointed.
Nice people, great food. Love this location!
Every year I look forward to getting up, dressing warm, and getting in line with others for that great ham and every year it’s great. This year, LaToya at the Pleasanton California location made the experience beyond enjoyable. She was the most kind, warm hearted person I’ve come across recently. Her concern for me waiting in the cold was priceless. All companies need someone like LaToya.
Always a good spot for the holidays. Three ham is a 10/10 for sure. The yams 100/10, stuffing is a 100/10, the cheesey potatoes 8/10, the cranberry sauce I'm not a huge fan but I actually like it a lot on my turkey. I'm new to that
I have reserved my ham for Easter. You just can't beat the taste of their ham. The sides are good also.
Went here for lunch and boy am I glad I did. 7 bucks and 9 for the combo for a hearty delicious sandwich. Honey baked ham on it and a generous side and side salad. Did not even know they did lunch but boy will I be back.
It's a great lunch place. I go a couple of times a week for the sandwiches, which are very good. Very reasonable prices, and the portions are generous. They have good turkey, and the ham is wonderful. Recommended!
Two days prior to Thanksgiving is the best way to pick up your "Ham and Turkey." It was busy, and the line was not too bad.
Latoya was so awesome!! She is an awesome employee. The experience at this store was the best.
A truly awesome experience! I was expecting a very thin, very expensive sandwich. Totally WRONG!!! I had a great sandwich, awesome service at a great price. I will be returning again and again!!!
Delivered, cooked, consumed, happy, in that order.
Nice people to serve us tho we are walk in still serve with smile not a long wait. Love you guys 💗
Great customer service. Store was organized and very clean. I'm looking forward to Christmas and not having to cook everything and enjoy the day
People don't let the long line fool you...That was the quickest pickup ever!!! And I reserved mine on-line last night. Love The Honey Baked Ham Store.
Very good ham (excellent for Bay Area) at reasonable prices. Compare to deli ham pricing. Less tasty ham at much lower prices available elsewhere during holidays. If buying in advance, strip honey glaze and freeze it, otherwise it will become a pool of liquid.
Good old Justin Thyme called me and invited me over for Easter dinner last week, and I haven't seen him in a few years, so I agreed. I called him right when I was coming into Pleasanton to see if he needed anything from the store before I got to his house, and this Wacknut says..."Just go to the Honey Baked Ham place and grab a big ham, some bread and a head of lettuce...what ever kind you like is fine..Oh, and see if you can find some glazed pineapple to go with our ham- okay" I'll tell you what, the Honey Baked Ham Store is a life saver, and the smoked ham was Amazing! 5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆

Long lines all day and had to drive around for a while befor I could find a parking space. I stood in line for 30 minutes. I'm sure when we taste our ham on Christmas it will be worth the wait. It always is! Staff was very friendly and working very hard :)
Ham sandwich was amazing with the Hawaiian roll. The staff were very courteous and accommodating. Service was quick. Staff wearing masks correctly
Love their ham any time of the year. Staff is always friendly. They also have a large selection of meats in addition to the ham.
Well, Renée! Did a great job getting together my Honey Baked Ham, Kings Hawaiian Rolls, Chocolate Rum Cake, honey infused sauces and more! She gave great advice and saved my family A LOT of money. Plus, no line yet, right before Easter weekend. Get over to Honey Baked quickly! One area of improvement to consider: The hourly cleaning or more frequently, of the bathroom.

This review is less for the meat and more for the lunchtime sandwich items. The sandwiches are a reasonable price (~$6 and for $1 more you can get a combo of a side and a salad). I'm a huge fan of turkey cranberry sandwiches, but I didn't finish mine. The sauce was a bit too sickly sweet and the bread was soggy (my fault, since I foolishly ordered it on Hawaiian bread). That being said, my side of macaroni salad was delicious. The cheesy potatoes look good too. I'll revisit for the price point and to try out more menu items.
I have been here multiple times and there's not many staff to assist the amount of business they get. Their salads and sandwiches are good but the service is terrible. Rude and they take waaayy too long to get your meal ready. Very INCONVENIENT if you go there on your work lunch!
Online ordered ham but unable to pickup at the time I reserved. Never happened before only this year. Sad ….
My first experience with honeybaked ham company. Found the manager rude and unprofessional. Apparently ,she was upset because i asked her questions about ordering. I understand it’s a busy time for them. I’ve always heard about their hams and wanted to try one this year. However, with service like that, they lost my business before it started.
Everyone was friendly! The store had alot merchandise of things to buy. Unfortunately, there were no signs posted in front of the items. Which to me takes more time to ask someone about how much the rolls etc. Then the girl didn't have my order right. So that took some time to get it right. Other than that, I just think it makes more sense to put the price in front of the item . This way, when checking process is faster. They had a table of cakes that look yummy. No sign how much they were. Confusing, plus I was supposed to get 7 pounds bone in bone ham. And I got 9 pound ham. Which is not what I order. So much for having a member award account
This is a busy place right before Thanksgiving! Give yourself an hour for pickups and it's a good idea to preorder/reserve your ham/turkey.
Horrendously long lines to pick up Thanksgiving order. As though they didn't staff up for the order volume. Christmas update: because I paid in advance the pickup wait this time was only 20 minutes. They are still crazy disorganized, but the food is really good.
Since it was Memorial Weekend and we were enjoying a staycation Honey-Baked Ham seemed just the ticket. They have changed things up somewhat. Getting the sampler was perfect. We were able to enjoy ham; turkey and ribs plus 2 large sides for days. Also, they were having a buy one, get another packet of pre-cut ham. So, we got to share the second pack. But, if we had wanted, we could have put it in the freezer for up to 45 days. They have a very good sandwich board too. We also enjoyed some coconut cake. They no longer have cranberry side and the other pre-made jars all have soybean oil, so could not purchase any of these. Drop-in and treat yourself. All of it is delicious.

I understand and empathize that the holiday season can be a lot for folks in retail / catering, but the way this outage regarding prepaid holiday orders was handled just wasn't right. I was one of many that prepaid for holiday orders online, wasn't until I was standing in line for about an hour or so that myself and everyone else in line learns that their order of turkey or half hams couldn't be fulfilled. Corporate really shit the bed here, there's no excuse. If an order can't be fulfilled tell me before I waste my time and process a refund automatically. I prepaid well in advance, I have to wait until the day before to find out and scramble to find a fresh turkey and ham. Edit: updated rating to reflect resolution.
We ordered ham for our Thanksgiving. Apparently, we have to wait more than one hour to get our orders. The problem is that the line is very long and that it’s mostly for people who prepaid their orders or made reservations. Then right when I’m about to enter the place, the staff decided to split the lines into two (one for prepaid orders and one for reservations). Not only that it took us too long to get our orders, but also their ham machine is broken, which is what I heard. Also, we were told that they no longer can serve us ham I think larger than 9lbs. I feel for those who purchased ham larger than that since they will slightly get ripped off. I also feel for the staff too since they are really overwhelmed with handling more than 100 people’s orders and having to rush through things. I believe that they should implement a better system to speed up the line and to make options more available for us, but it is what it is. Nothing they can really do about it. Perhaps, expect more customers to come by preparing in advance. The “two lines” could have been dealt earlier. Aside from all this, it is actually worth getting the ham since it’s very delicious. Basically could feed at least 10 people despite having to reduce the size of ham. Usually my family and I go here for Thanksgiving. It’s still worth the wait. My advice for everyone is to come here very early about an hour prior to the pickup time of the order. Expect the line to be very long (approximately about an hour to get your order) and be patient. Happy Thanksgiving!
Usually honey baked hits the nail on the head. This time, for the first time in our 20+ years of experience honey baked was less than their best. We started eating the ham and noticed a very smoky flavor. Way more smoky than in the past. After a few slices, we took the ham out of its foil and it was burned black on one side and the bottom. Didn’t take it back but cut the burned side off the ham and that improved the taste. From now on we’ll ask to see the ham before bringing it home.

Long line 3 days before Thanksgiving. Wasn't too surprised but whether you reserve online or walk up, it's the same long line. Waited about 30 minutes in line. I was surprised there are no warm up and serve directions. I bought smoked turkey breast and ham. They recommend you serve it cold or at room temp. I didn't like that. I understand the risk of drying the meat out with warming it but I've never had cold ham and turkey unless in a sandwich, certainly not as a main dish for a feast. It was pricey which I was willing to pay if it was good. The ham did not come with any special glaze. It was okay. I've had better for a lot cheaper. The turkey was sweet like candy. I don't know why but geez it was sweet. I can't even put it in another dish for leftovers. Even in a sandwich it was just too sweet. Tried it once. Don't recommend it. And won't be trying it again.
Opens at 1030 closes at 630? You'd think they would extend hours during the holiday season. Way to expensive for ham. The generic from Safeway taste better anyway.
The store close to me closed. Have to drive to this one now. Store could use some cleaning. I'm worried about this one closing also as I've never seen another customer in there.
It is very disappointing for this company for not providing a good Thanksgiving for our family, because the paid order was not provided on the day of scheduled pick-up, waited in-line for 45 mins. then at the end no Ham. Not Again ordering from this place.
Worst ham Ive ever purchased from this company. I;ve been buying hams in NC for8+yrs and they were DIVINE & DELICIOUS!! This was no where close too that. It had a hard shell. It was dry. It was horrible!!! This location was terrible. I asked clerk why, he stated all CA hams were prepered in this manner. If thats the case, DON'T buy HoneyBaked in CA...
This is regarding takeout. I ordered garlic herb sliders. Idk what I got. If you look online and see any picture on their website, instagram, or any video of this garlic herb slider you will see a light butter. We have all had a garlic herb something and it’s similar to garlic bread. What i got was a dark looking sauce. If you look at what comes in the packet of sliders it’s sauce and honey bbq mustard thing. Apparently mine was already spread on and it was drizzled not in a way i would like. I called and the lady i spoke to was rude. When i describe what i had she said i had the right stuff she was rude as if i didnt know what i was doing. So i went ahead and made it. it tastes nothing like garlic herb.Bc she was so rude i called corporate customer service explained what happened and they said that they guarantee the quality of their food it’s policy and the establishment should give your refund no hassle and you do not need to bring the food back. I called back and was speaking to an associate. I asked for a manager. He said she was not in at the moment. I explained what happened and he said it’s dark bc we put rotisserie seasoning in it. I asked why and he said he’s just doing what he’s told I asked for a refund and said i couldnt come back today.finally the manager comes in i ask to speak to her and he puts me on hold instead of her coming on she’s telling him what to say in the background. he said to bring my receipt and the sliders back for a refund… excuse me??? bring the sliders back? what kind of establishment wants food back? what are you going to do just throw it. plus thats so unsanitary considering it has left the building. Rather then waste my time I am just going to put you on blast for the audacity and unprofessionalism you have. Pictures are what I thought i was buying and what i got. No it’s not burnt that’s the sauce given to me. Tasted like a sweet peppery chicken sliders. pictures below are online pics and the dark mess of “garlic herb butter” i received and what it looked like after baking.

Ordered a turkey to pickup the day before Thanksgiving. WHAT A NIGHTMARE. The line was infinitely long. Came back after waiting almost an hour. Finally got to the counter only to be told “I know you have a reservation but we have no food.” What is the point of a reservation ?!?
This place has gone really downhill. The didn't have any of the sides we pre-ordered and prepayed for. Then they double charged me! To get a refund I had to drive back to Pleasanton from Fremont to get the refund because the manager hung the phone up on me. The end all be all was the meat we got, again he only thing they had, was mediocre at best. Pre-pandemic I think it was still OK. But they have failed to come back. We will never order from them again.
We ordered a boned in glazed ham for Thanksgiving online and were given a scheduled pick up time. When we went to the store at the scheduled time, we had to wait for an hour due to the long line and then were told that they ran out of the ham. We reported the incident to them to get a refund but we have not been refunded yet.
I have never purchased a honeybaked ham before I have had them before at other events I picked up my ham brought it home. Opened it on Thanksgiving, it was so dry, tried to warm it up. It was horrible, dry and tasteless. Not that honey crisp flavor I remember. $80 for a ham I threw away. So upset about it
Pre-ordered two roasted turkey breasts a week in advance. Pre-paid so there would be no problems. Made an appointment to pick them up day before Thanksgiving so they would be fresh. Got to the store 30 minutes before opening, fully expecting they would have my order reserved. Nope, they had zero roasted turkey breasts in stock. Gave me smoked turkey, which my family hates. I either took the alternative or they would reimburse me, of course then leaving me with no turkey to serve for Thanksgiving. Very disappointed as I'm sure were all the other people in the long line who might have been expecting a roast turkey. No excuse for being so unprepared on a major holiday.
I don’t think the employees are properly trained/instructed on holiday logistics. I came the week before Thanksgiving and asked if I need to pre-reserve the tiny 2-3 presliced ham deli package. The cashier repeatedly told me no, and to just come the 1-2 days before Thanksgiving. Came as instructed, waited in line, and turned away because they required a reservation. Wouldn’t recommend wasting your time at this location, additionally food handling doesn’t seem the safest, and there are honestly better hams out there for better prices (e.g. Costco)
Terrible pickup experience can’t even blame the staff. Their delivery to turkey was late so people couldn’t get turkeys oh well not the staffs fault for that all upper management. Forcing online orders to line up with walk ins makes no sense what’s the point of having us prepay if I have to wait with walk ins? Took an hour to even get inside the store for the pickup. Scanners didn’t work registers didn’t work. Provide your staff with the tools to succeed so they aren’t getting cursed at and yelled at my upset patrons we pay so much money and your company can’t provide good working conditions? Truly horrendous never doing an order at this store again.
Horrible experience! Pre ordered Ham and Turkey with 4 sides for $214 but did not receive the Turkey coz they are sold out?!! and the sides are like TV dinner style??! Not what I expected from this place!
This was my first time ordering from HoneyBaked Ham, and unfortunately, it will likely be my last. I placed my order online about a week in advance, which turned out to be a smart move since the store was chaotic when I arrived. There was a long line, and it seemed they were trying to manage two lines: one for prepaid orders and another for reservations and walk-ins. However, the process was disorganized, and the lack of clear instructions made things worse. While waiting, one of the sales associates started yelling—not in a professional way, but more like someone frustrated with the situation—saying there were no more walk-ins allowed. After about 30-45 minutes, the reservation line disappeared entirely because they had canceled all reservations. Then, shortly after, someone else announced there were no turkeys or hams of certain sizes available, and they were processing refunds. What frustrated me the most was the rudeness of some staff members toward customers, who were being remarkably patient despite the circumstances. This level of disorganization and poor customer service is unacceptable, especially for a business that prides itself on being a go-to destination for holiday meals. HoneyBaked Ham may sell the best ham, but with service like this? No thanks. They need to plan better and align their operations with the number of orders they accept.
how do I prepay and preorder ham and turkey to have turkey sold out?? makes no sense.
Don't ever order your holiday meals from them. We did it last year and forgot this year about the nightmare of picking it up. You prepay and they give you a time to pick up. You get there and there is a snaking line within the store, going out the door and down the sidewalk. And, yes, this is the prepaid line. You are in for a 1-2 hour wait to pick up your meal. We will not make this mistake again.
Pre-ordered with also pre-paying my order for a bone-in 4-4.99 lbs honeybaked ham to pick up on Wednesday, 11/27/24, the day before Thanksgiving. My pick-up time/window was 4pm. When I got to this location at 3:30pm (anticipating a line to wait in) I was welcomed with a lengthy line that went towards the market across from AT&T. I waited in line and it slowly started to move little by little, but I was barely at the entrance of the doors at 4:15pm. With having an appointment at 5pm in a different city (needing to get on 580), I knew I would risk missing my 5pm appointment if I waited in line, so I exited planning to come back later. This was me assuming that since I pre-ordered and pre-paid, I would have my order ready to go with my name. I could not get back to Honey Baked until 7pm due to traffic. When I arrived, I was re-welcomed with another lengthy line. This time, individuals appeared frustrated and I was told that they had ran out of ham and they were giving refunds back if you waited in line or could call on Friday, 11/29. Shortly after, I was approached by a worker who said they were the Manager and they explained that they had ran out of product and ham and provided the details for receiving a refund. Some individuals left the line to call for a refund on Friday while the rest of us waited in line for a refund to avoid the busy phone lines on Friday. As we were waiting, an announcement from a man came about that only a part of the line was getting ham. Most of us were confused because they had just made a huge announcement that they were out of ham. Then this same worker (man) who was cutting the line off told the rest of the line that we could not get ham. I made a comment, "even if we already prepaid?" And he asked, " Have you all pre-paid? Are you walk-ins?" And all of us in line (frustrated) stated that we all pre-paid online. At this point, the workers went back inside and then shortly after came back outside to say that they do have enough ham for all of us, but that they were cooked (or uncooked) 10lbs hams. I ended up staying in line as I wanted a refund. When I approached the register, they scanned my QR code and said that they did not have anymore of what I ordered. It was overheard by the Manager (woman) and I was told that it's because I missed my time/window. I did not need to hear that and thought that was rude. They don't know what I went through that day. They don't know that I was in fact there EARLY and could not get to the doors. AND it was likely because their machine was down then as well, because I overheard this Manager stating that the machine had gone down a couple of times today and during the week. Clearly, they were unprepared for a Thanksgiving rush. This location already knew about malfunction equipment and did not take the steps to repair it or have a back up plan before a huge holiday?! Also, there was clearly no closed-loop communication amongst their team and with their customers. I feel bad for customers who were in that line who pre-ordered and pre-paid just as I did and was planning their entire Thanksgiving meal on The Honey Baked Ham Company. The least they could have done was own their mistake and began calling customers to not come. There were individuals there walking away with nothing who drove out far from Tracy and Fremont! Horrible. The Honey Baked Ham Company - Pleasanton. You need to do better.
