Opinions de Ramen 101 Pleasanton
First you have to order at the front desk and the food was amazing. The atmosphere of the restaurant was amazing with a warm mood. There was one employee named Raymond that was super kind and helped us order.
Crazy fast food service. It took less than 3 minutes for our ramen to be brought to us. Ramen tasted good. It has outdoor dining, but there aren't heating lamps like most of the other nearby restaurants.
The quality and food portions are good. Love the Ramen 101 soup broth flavors and many selections. The Pleasanton location customer service and ambiance is good as well. So I placed an online takeout order during shelter in place through Door Dash. The staff recommended we order directly from their website and they do have monthly discounts. I appreciate their honesty and friendliness. The only one drawback for this particular location is that bc it's downtown Pleasanton on Main St, parking is a bit of a challenge when you need to do takeout (compared to the Dublin location).
I have lots of allergies and this place catered to them, giving me options with the Ramen I ordered and was careful to make sure I was okay with what I ordered. Not only was it delivered incredibly fast, but the ramen was amazing. I loved the experience and the workers interaction, I personally will be going back to this place again.
Ramen 101 was absolutely amazing!! Great authentic food for the Japanese cuisine lover as well as some more familiar snacks like edamame and lumpia for my more cautious parents were available. The service was so incredibly fast that the food came out within two minutes of us being seated despite all the orders being hot meals. I knew when I didn't see salt or pepper on the table that the chefs were very confident in their meals. The flavors did not disappoint! Everything we ate had incredible flavor. Nothing to complain about unless you don't like music in the background, in which case choose a seat further from the TV. Parking is difficult in this area but it is easy to see from outside. The servers were so friendly and despite the cafe feel we were checked on several times to see how we were doing. We went home with full and happy stomachs and two take us containers. This is a great place for casual lunch, a date, or congratulations dinner with family as well.
Best Ramen I have ever had! The chicken Ramen! Amazing pork broth! Very tasty! The boiled egg was delish! And then to top it all the chicken was marinated and grilled the perfection! So juicy and yummy! Must Try the Chicken Ramen!
The food was delicious and excellent service. Great location downtown Pleasanton to take the kids and or easy access to get into a first floor location. The restaurant had a clean atmosphere.
Nice looking place, great service, lot of options and tasty boba.
I can't believe I've passed this place so many times and only tried it today! Everything was great - friendly and quick service, delicious food and a very nice atmosphere. Our order was delivered quickly, the food looked appetizing and tasted great. The dining area is comfortable, clean and quiet, and I really appreciated that there were no strong kitchen smells in the seating area. Highly recommend and I will definitely be back!
Came here for a quick late night snack, but I ended up ordering a meal. The katsu and chicken bbq plate is a good deal for $17. I couldn’t pass that up. Chicken was really good and the portion size is great. It is a great plate to share with another person. Restaurant is very clean. Staff is quick to get your food and pick up after you’re done.
Funny enough I went for their Hawaiian BBQ and not their ramen. I've tried them at a different location and while they're ramen is fine, their Hawaiian BBQ is great. Good flavors with a really solid portion size, plus at their price point its one of the cheaper Hawaiian BBQ I've had.
I’m only giving the food 4 stars because the noodles, and really that’s just me personally, I really like thicker noodles and these ones are quite thin. Think if you could get a different type of noodle that’d be fye. But the soup is extremely delicious, and so are all the toppings (and for reference I got a veggie broth, chicken ramen), one of the BEST broths I’ve ever tasted honestly. The portion is also a lot larger than it seems because of the bowl, so I’d say this place is good value. Also, I really like the spoon they give you.
Found this on Yelp, very highly rated there. Got there on a Friday afternoon for lunch, the ambience is nice the kids behind counter know what they are doing and the service is super quick! Coming to food itself, we tried two different ramens and they were amazing, the soup is very flavorful and tasty. The one thing I would suggest is to allow substitutions which they dont now, and have more meat options since I saw like 5 different pork options , chicken and seafood, but overall would definitely recommend.
Thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at Ramen 101. The service was amazing! They were patient with me with the ordering process since it was my first time. Very cool how they have set ramen choices that come with different toppings and then you can further customize and even add more to them. Restaurant is quaint, clean, and well decorated. Food came out fast and hot. Everything was fantastic and tasted great. Strongly encourage the grilled chicken as a topping. It was very good. Ive had a lot of Ramen and very much enjoy it. I got the Tonkotsu broth which i think is usually the most common and sought after, but for me the flavor fell just a little flat. Thays the only thing i would change would be a stronger broth flavor. Highly recommend and will go back again.
I've never had traditional Ramen so I was excited to try this place. I loved everything! It was all a new experience for me so I was excited to try everything in the bowl
Food was delicious. This was my first time eating at a Ramen restaurant and I will be going back to one again. On top of the great food the service was amazing. The cashier was friendly, gave recommendations and checked on with us while we ate.

Ramen was very good. Perfectly flavored broth. The tempura prawn was perfect too. Will definitely visit again.
Ramen 101 of a great ramen and Hawaiian BBQ place in downtown Pleasanton. The staff is young, but they're courteous and on the ball. The food is really good. I'm giving it four stars because it's not a five-star kind of place. But, it's not a four-star place either. Let's go with 4.5. I like the Hawaiian BBQ dishes better than the noodles, but the noodles are good. Pork, beef and chicken are excellent. Vegetables, broccoli and cabbage, are cooked perfectly. I could do without the macaroni salad, but that's primarily because I don't care for any Mac salad. Inside reminds me of Tokyo eateries, only with a lot more space.
This establishment provides very minimum service. You need to order from counter and you need to get water from tap yourself. So you can guess what type of restaurant is this. To Asians who are familiar with Japanese Ramen, this is not a place. It's worse than Pulmuone Donkatsu Miso Ramen at Costco. Of course, Chasu and other garnish adds flavor but I don't think they are authentic. To others who are not familiar with Ramen, I think this place is decent. Good flavor with good portion of food. I think this is good establishment in neighborhood but I won't treat this place as Ramen restaurant.
Went again after a few years, the food was the same, really tasty and portioned well. The downside is the price has shot up making it not worth it. 17$ for a basic bowl is a waste of time and money.
Truly a local gem.. we had the Tonkatsu, Chicken karaage and edamame.. food was really good and service was great.. easy to order, we found a table and food was served within 5 minutes.. the place was packed for a weekday night! We’ll be back for sure..
Very nice food portions, order the chicken mac with rice if you want the most value. I ate with 3 of my friends at it was around $25-30 total -we spilled our drink on accident and they gave us another one for free and cleaned it up asap. Mac is really good, portion is a bit small for the mac only; other portions are very generously served. 4.4/5.0
Friendly staff and fast service. We got the teriyaki chicken rice bowls and a few bowls of tonkatsu ramen, as well as a bowl of the black garlic ramen. Everything was tasty and the portions were huge. The restaurant itself was clean and had a decent amount of space for indoor seating. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area!
Very clean place. I liked the food and I appreciate the super courteous staff. I fairness, I didn't realize I was in a fast food chain till my husband informed me. It was my first time to eat here.
We walked past this restaurant earlier saying we will eat here later. So here we are. We went back outside to view the pictures of the dishes. You order 1st at the counter, pay then grab a spot to eat. We shared the Pork Belly Miso Ramen, mild with a small container of the chili oil. ($15) We also shared the whole Grilled Squid. ($10). Both were excellent. The Miso broth was not salty. 👍 It came with maybe 4 slices of Pork Belly, 2 Shrimp, greens, a split soft boiled and of course Ramen. I added my heat separately. Now the unbelievable Grilled Squid. It had a drizzle of Teriyaki Sauce. The body portion was tender and perfectly cooked. Now the head and legs were crunchy. 👍👍. The place was clean with a lot of take out orders. Dining area holds at least 60. We highly recommend this business.
Large menu with vegetarian options for appetizers and ramen. Popular spot with good seating, 5 booths and a large table in the center. We got chicken teriyaki and the veggie ramen. The portions are very large and filling. The teriyaki came with a small macaroni salad on the side. The veggie ramen had a nice broth which had great spice to it. I got medium spice but if you like spice go for the spicy instead of medium. The service was fast and you order at the counter before finding a table. The restaurant is clean and has a bathroom for customers only. There is no parking lot and street parking can get busy on weekends.
Delicious ramen at a nice spot downtown. Service was pretty quick and the dishes looked appealing. The ramen was really good, especially the broth. Overall a good experience.

The food was served quickly even the grilled squid. We ordered two bowls of ramen and a grilled squid. The grilled squid has the right flavor but unfortunately it was dry and overcooked so made chewing quite challenging. The ingredients in the ramen could be more though based on the price. Otherwise, the flavor of the ramen soup was just right. The eggs in the ramen were well flavored. The place is clean and well ventilated.
We hardly ever hit up a Japanese joint that isn't spick and span, and this spot was no different. But when it comes to the food, it let us down. The ramen we got was seriously lacking in flavor and that rich broth goodness you expect from ramen. And gyoza it was way too crispy. On the bright side, the service was quick, and the staff were super friendly.
Located in a nice downtown area in Pleasanton (they have multiple locations). Ramen was OK, you can choose different levels of spicy from none to very spicy, I selected medium and it was a good balance of spiciness. Also tried lumpia (deep fried, quite similar to spring roll) which was so so.
Casual order-at-the-counter place with plenty of seating. My go to is black garlic. I got mild and my husband got medium (pictured). I love spicy food, but I preferred the taste of the mild broth. In both cases, broth was very light in flavor. Fine if you like blander foods, but not good for those like me who are hard of smell. Noodles were not super thin but not that thick either. I like a thicker, chewier noodle. Staff was good. Place was clean.
My biggest critique with different ramens is always the broth. The broth here is on the thinner side with a more subtle flavor. The noodles themselves were cooked well and the pork pieces were just okay. I loved the soft boiled egg though.

We ordered 1 tonkotsu ramen, 1 pork rib ramen, and 1 karaage chicken in the afternoon time. The order speed was fast, probably because it was not high time. All meat seems a little over cooked for me (pork rib, karaage, charsu from the tonkotsu).
"Black Garlic Pork" ramen, typically most flavorful broth, was bland and had no distinctive flavor. Takoyaki was uncooked in middle. When asked, was told it was bought "frozen pre-cooked, then deep fried to prepare", so it wasn't undercooked. Just mushy. Yeah. No. I don't recommend this place. Service was fast; but food was not fresh and bad. Also expensive, $40 for that.
One of the worst ramen I have tasted in Bay Area. Waste of money. The chef should learn from Ramen Negi chef. The chicken rice bowl was horrible. The chicken was definitely days old.
Went here for lunch on Friday. The restaurant is on the main street of Pleasanton so there are ample parking lot around. I ordered my food at the cashier and chose my own seating. The place was pretty empty (only 2 tables were occupied) when I got there. I ordered black garlic ramen (non spicy) and chicken karaage appetizer. The food came out pretty fast (5 minutes). First the chicken karaage: generous portion for its price but the chicken pieces were way too crunchy and the meat was a bit tough. These were more like taiwanese popcorn chicken than Japanese chicken karaage that has bigger pieces. It taste pretty good (it was seasoned well - not too salty) and came with spicy mayo. Next was the black garlic ramen. I was super disappointed with the flavor. This was not authentic Japanese ramen. The broth tasted watered down and was lack of umami flavor. The pork belly pieces were tough and super fatty. They put black garlic cloves which was good but the broth itself lacked the aroma of black garlic. My problem was that I got stomachache from eating the ramen. My kid had the karaage with the noodle (no broth) and he was fine. I gave two stars for the taste of chicken karaage & the friendly service. However, I won't be back here again.
We ordered tonkotsu and black garlic ramen and both the broths were flavorless. The food was total disappointment but the silver lining was the service, which was quick and the staff were friendly.
Location is nice and quick service but food was terrible. The pork ribs on my ramen bowl tasted like they had been cooked days before and just reheated and thrown back on my bowl. Dry tasteless Jerky is the best way to describe them. I go to other Ramen 101's and this was the first bad experience. I was hungry so ate the Ramen and broth and that tasted fine...but paying $23 for that doesn't seem right. Won't be coming back.
