Opinions de Zachary's Pizza Pleasanton
Went here at 430 on Mother's day. Minimal wait (10 mins) and was able to pre-order my deep dish pizza. Deep dish takes awhile so be patient. They were properly staffed during the busiest day of the year. What I really enjoyed was all the employees work together in unison. Everyone cleared tables, everyone took special requests to get missing orders, need a straw or more water. Great job everyone!!! Missing photos of the food, they all kind of look a like. This is what we ordered, large deep dish spinach and mushroom (their specialty) and carne half and half. It's a Ying and yang ☯️ of pizza, vegetarian and meat-asorous. Also tried the 10" thin bbq chicken because 2 of the employees stated it is their favorite pizza. Would recommend adding ham to the bbq chicken pizza. Side salads are generous portions, comes in a bowl. Had the arugula and ceasar, was able to share with others
The best deep dish pizza I’ve ever had and that includes places in Chicago. They have regular pizza which are really good too but I’m not sure why anyone would choose that over the deep dish variety. There is usually a longer cook time for the deep dish but it’s absolutely worth the wait.
This was my first time trying deep-dish pizza, and I’d describe it more as a tomato pie—it was tasty! However, the wait time was quite long; it took 45 minutes for our order to arrive. In fairness, the menu does mention that it takes 30-35 minutes to prepare. Just a tip: don’t come here if you’re already very hungry.
Love the pizza here. I no longer live anywhere close, but when I’m the area I definitely try to swing by. It’s still as I remember. This new spot is really nice too. The deep dish takes long to cook so call ahead with your order so you don’t have to wait as long for your food. There’s plenty of parking in the back.
I've always heard about how great Chicago style (deep dish) pizza is. It is unfortunate how the restaurants who have their own iteration of this dish ruined my first impression of it when I ordered it anywhere else. Luckily Zachary's changed my opinion of true deep dish pizza and I have been hooked ever since.. that tomato sauce cannot be beaten by many others (at least in NorCal). I love the carne topping as well as the barbecue chicken, and you can never go wrong with the Zachary special! These pizzas are truly more like pies, so just a heads up. Fork and knife will be needed when digging in. It is usually very busy and expect to wait 35 minutes when ordering a pizza, especially if you want to do a half and half with the toppings.
Our family loves the pizzas! The pizza tastes great and is not too oily or greasy. The toppings get buried under the cheese, so at first we thought they were missing, but we were pleasantly surprised after taking that first bite. Parking behind the building is marked for bank customers. However, saw astanding sign this evening that indicated parking was also for Zachary's.
It’s been a while since I’ve been to Zachary’s. My usual order was the deep dish. Today we ordered a thin crust, and after all these years it still is the best! I’ve been all over the country and this is the place I measure all others by. The sauce, the crust, everything is amazing. Wish I lived closer to a Zachary’s! 💕😍
My family and I were in the area on vacation a couple of days ago and we had decided to come here because we have been to Zachary’s before. We ordered ahead and dined in. It was a fast and easy process. The carne deep dish pizza was flavorful and delicious, a large was enough to feed all of us. Everyone that helped us was very nice and attentive, checking on us and giving us excellent customer service. We ate outside because it was a very nice evening. Overall I had a very good experience, and I would recommend. Whenever we go to the Bay Area, Zachary’s is a must.
Great outdoor patio with lots of shade and the inside was really nice as well, very cool posters on the wall. Food was good, pizza was a little greasy and the wings could have been just a little crisper. Not sure about either the ranch or blue cheese dressing neither tasted correct. They were good but more like a dill ranch and a very mild version of a blue cheese. The service was EXCELLENT 👌👍 great wait staff, drinks were never empty, someone checked on us at appropriate intervals and made sure we had anything we needed. The wait for the food was short and everything was hot and fresh.
This is my personal choice as a special pizza, i savor every moment in this establishment of its other locations, now they so does my kids. If you still haven't tried Zachary's its never too late to try it.
Delicious pizza! We got half Zachary's special and half spinach and cheese. Wasn't too rich or heavy, even with a good amount of cheese. Plenty of parking in the lot behind the restaurant
Used to make the haul to Berkeley on Solano Ave. just to get my Zachary’s deep dish carne fix, initially in the 90s. So when Pleasanton got its own Zachary’s back 2021, I finally made the time to check it out. The crust was buttery and crisp. The filling of Italian sausage, pepperoni, salami, chopped bacon and mozzarella hit me like a familiar warm hug. Same rich, cheesy, meat-loaded masterpiece as I remembered. Cozy vibe, friendly crew, and easier parking than Berkeley. Also, they have 6 or 8 designated take out parking spots in the rear parking lot. 15 min max. And if you’re into fresh air and people-watching, they’ve got a sweet little al fresco section right out front facing Main St.
Interesting options of stuffed pizza. They are like a regular pizza with a tall border to hold a good portion of tomato sauce on top of the toppings. It is really good. We ordered a medium sized one for two people, we ate half of it and brought home the other half for dinner. We were pretty satisfied after each meal. If you get a chance to sit outside, there is a great view of the gorgeous Pleasanton. The service is great, but the pizza takes a while to be ready, so I recommend ordering a couple of drinks while you wait. Another point to notice is that there is no desert, but there are plenty of options nearby.
I love this incredible pizza restaurant since Zachary's Chicago Pizza has been around for 42 years since 1983. The cook length for all the deep dish pizzas lasts an hour just the way other pizza restaurants were in Chicago, Illinois.
We always order to go when driving through town. It NEVER disappoints. This is hands down the BEST deep dish pizza in the world (and I’m from Chicago area)! The employees are always friendly and offer quick service.
Zachary’s Pizza has been the #1 pizza in California for over 50 years, and arguably the best pizza in the world! I’m glad to see this new location has maintained the same quality as their older locations! They serve both deep-dish Chicago-style, as well as thin-crust Italian-style. Having been to both Chicago and Italy, I can state with confidence they still have the best pizza on Earth. I highly recommend their deep-dish gourmet mushroom & spinach pizza!
I forgot when’s the last time I had deep dish pizza, but probably been too long. So, I decided to eat lunch here and order it. Don’t really remember what it tasted like, but could imagine that it tasted really good based on what it look like. Perhaps, I have never tried it before! Deep dishes pizzas usually take at least 25 minutes to make, but it’s understandable due to how thick the pizza is. Good that they serve personal sizes since I don’t want to eat a huger version of it. Pizza is really good tbh. Really love the cheese pull too! I’m surprised that not many people come here, but most likely because it’s Friday at the afternoon. I didn’t get any specialties since I haven’t had that type of pizza for a while, but definitely will try one of those the next time I come back!
Pizza is almost like a pasta at the same time! So much flavor and hasn’t lost its famous flavor from back in the day! All the wall art was made by us the customers!
It was an absolute delight to step into this restaurant and be served for our takeout pizza by Edwin. I had made a mistake with my online order and he graciously and generously made good. We've been customers of Zachary's Pizza from their various locations, especially in Oakland and Berkeley since 1994. It's been a couple of years since we've had one of their half-baked pizzas. It's such a treat to take home and finish baking the pizzas. We had a fun dinner at home on Memorial Day with the family. We purchased a couple of pizzas that were half baked. The Carne and Chicken special as well as the Mediterranean and the Mushroom. These pizzas did not disappoint! The level of consistency is on par every time we purchase pizzas from Zachary's. I definitely would recommend Zachary's! Thank you, Edwin, for being so generous when it was my mistake.
Super Veggie Pizza and Service. We hadn't had deep dish pizza in a while and enjoyed the pizza which was made on a yummy and crunchy crust topped by homemade sauce. Could've used a few more veggies however. All in all we had a great time!
Really, really good Chicago-style deep dish. You can eat the crust like a bread stick with benefits! I'd drive 2000 mikes again for this.
Love their thin crust pizza 🍕Service was great 👍 Their deep dish pizza is also a winner 🏆
It was an excellent dining experience. My coworker had raved about this place in the past, so the bar was set pretty high. The restaurant was very clean, spacious, and well lit. We visited during lunch, so there were plenty of tables available. They do have an outdoor private patio if you choose to dine outdoors. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The food was nothing less than superior quality. I was very pleased with my pizza. It had great flavor, and it is really hard to compare to anything I've had 'Chicago Style' out here on the West Coast. It is hands down, a Winner. Our Server packed the remaining slices neatly in a to go container on our way out.
Just go if you're on the fence. I bought 4 pizzas, individually wrapped the slices and flew to the East Coast with them if that tells you anything.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, which is a great option depending on the weather or your preference. The spinach and mushroom pizza was delicious. We ordered a large, which came with eight slices, more than enough for our party of four. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try.
I ordered ahead and I got the stuffed pepperoni and mushroom. Very quick and easy process to order online. The pizza was amazing as usual. Better than any pizza in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. The service was quick, friendly and courteous. It's been a long time and I don't think the prices have changed much.

Zachary’s has always been an unique and great pie, we have been going there since they opened originally in Pleasanton! There really isn’t any thing like it around in the Tri-valley, give it a shot! Only reason for the 4 star over 5, is just slow service on not a super busy Monday night. The pizza pie is expected to take a long time, but drinks and sides came slow.
Never had a Chicago style pizza, tomato sauce on top. It was good. Something new. I would come back. I wouldnt get the arugula salad- 99% arugula and a few shaved pieces of apple (maybe 3 pieces) and a little but more shaved fennel. We had to ask for the parmesan cheese since it was forgotten… The server was super nice and helpful
Edwin was helpful in correcting my order(it was my mistake) and one server was on point and helpful. The other server not so much. One person was helpful with my order the other not so much. It’s an up and down for service. Quality appears to be good for deep dish pizza. The chain keeps it consistent with other Bay Area chains so you know what to expect with taste , portions and pricing.
One of the best deep dish pizzas in the Bay Area! It doesn’t feel too heavy (which is surprising compared to a lot of deep dish pizzas I’ve had in life) and they have quite a few vegetarian options. They also offer great customizations to any pizza. I’ve visited this place many times and it’s our go-to pizza place for someone living in Dublin! One small size deep dish pizza is enough for 2-3 people easily. Highly recommend! I wish they would start keeping canned Coke / Pepsi though. Only fountain is available here.
Not a bad Chicago style pizza place. I am from Chicago and usually do not find pizza that is a good rendition of what I love from back home. If you know Chicago pizza, Zachery’s deep dish most closely resembles Gino’s/Ginos East pizza from Chicago. My son enjoyed the thin slice. The pepperoni was under the cheese like it is done in Chicago and the crust was good. The arugula salad was a bit of a disappointment to the party at our table who ordered it. Very small for the price and she got to small slices of apple ( which was a feature of the salad) and had to ask for more. Staff was very nice and the decor/atmosphere was very cute.
We came here to celebrate a birthday and were excited to enjoy deep-dish pizza, as we had been craving Chicago-style pizza. The service was excellent, and the pizzas were delicious. We will definitely come back again to try more pizzas. The only downside is the limited parking available. Fortunately, there are nearby areas where you can find parking.

This restaurant has delicious food and the service is excellent. I went on 13 Feb 2026, and there was no line and I was able to walk right in. There is also ample parking in the back of the restaurant. The restaurant was clean and tidy. There are only two issues that I see that could use improving. First, the cook time of the pizza is SLOW. Very very SLOW. If you're hoping to get in and get out, readjust your expectations. I figured it'd be 45 minutes to get in, order, and eat, but it's been over an hour. If this is how slow food is on a time like today where there is practically no one in the restaurant, I can only imagine how long you'll need to wait on a busy Friday night. Second, the pizza is delicious, but it could be better. Specifically, the sauce lacks the tang and sweetnesses that is associated with American style pizza. It's a very tomato rich sauce, but it doesn't have the pleasant sweetness most Americans crave. This goes for the ranch dressing, too. It's a very milky ranch, but it's missing the zip that the well-known brands have. Lastly, this establishment does not offer a military discount. It may not seem like a big deal, but the military get paid very little, and they get to take leave sparingly. When they are able to come home, money is tight. Most junior ranking personnel actually earn right at the poverty line...but you want them to pay $30 for a pizza after deployments, being treated like trash, and generally being miserable? Uh uh. That's not acceptable, and Zachary's ought to rethink how they treat the military. Unless, of course, they don't support the military. 8/10. Great food and service, but could be slightly better.
I just don't like Chicago style pizza. I gave it a try since I live very close. Knowing I've eaten it in Chicago at the top spots and didn't like it. For some reason the spinach and mushroom is more expensive than the other pizzas. Even with more items in them which confused me. I ended up making pasta sauce out of it. That was delicious.
The sever was great, knowledgeable about the menu items and ingredients, did a great job. Good beer and wine offering. Pizza was pretty salty and maybe upside down deep dish is not my style? Had an arugula salad with apple and fennel - pretty good, but a lot of arugula and little apples or fennel. Was ok but probably won't be back.
We went here for the pre-Mother’s Day dinner. Aside from the long wait to get the food even though we had pre-ordered the service was very much lacking. Nobody ever came to check to see if we need any water or any drinks or anything else. The place is super crowded and with the to go orders, it takes even longer so plan accordingly. The food was good however, there is special the Italian Rustico thin crust had so much garlic. It was exaggerating when it up removing a lot of the garlic off of it.
Overall really like the pizza. Good quality. The meatball appetizer is also pretty damn solid, you can tell it's fresh not frozen and reheated. Frustrated though because my order, taken correctly on a Thursday afternoon with only one person in the restaurant, was made incorrectly. I ordered a pizza from the menu, no onions (which it says on the receipt) and yet once I cut into it at home, I found onions. This is the second time this has happened on the same exact order, and the only item ordered. Decided to leave a review this time because given the circumstances (ease of the order and only item, the receipt was printed accurately, and the fact nobody else other than a guy drinking at the bar was there) because I should not have had this happen. Won't ever do take out here again because there is no way to check the order unless I cut into it and eat it before leaving. Will stick only to the occasional in house meal. Also given how seating is limited and how long deep dish takes to cook, I wouldn't recommend coming on a Friday or Saturday night. Whenever I consider ordering/eating here it's always middle of the week.
The atmosphere was great, the place was packed with young teens who seemed to be having fun in groups of all sizes. The service was also good, however I wasn't a big fan of the pizza itself. It was my first time trying "deep dish pizza" so what I experienced was closer to a tomato pie than what I'd expect from a pizza. Not my cup of tea but a fun experience
Outdoor dog friendly on a very fun street in the weekend. The crust: I would change to something that doesn’t taste like an over fried cracker. Middle pizza was great. Order a small for two people and it’ll be enough. This is doable deep dish pizza but you won’t be able to close your eyes and pretend you’re in Chicago.

I like the service. Very friendly staff and cozy place. Always wanted to try chicago style pizza but it didn’t meet my expectation. We ordered bbq chicken and waited 40 minutes (Large size) But there were just two or three pieces of chicken. It’s like you’re eating only tomatoes.(tomato pie) After eating this pizza, I had a stomachache and felt nauseous all day. Waste of 40$
4.6 Stars…seriously! Not sure how the place earned such excellent reviews. We ordered a deep dish Mediterranean pizza, a Thin Pizza Blanca and one roasted cauliflower. Based on the reviews and price, we were expecting an authentic taste, unfortunately it’s not what we got!! The crust in both pizzas were very dry and hard to cut, similar to what you get from a frozen pizza at the grocery store. These were even worse. The sauce lacked any texture or bold flavor. The pizza tasted only like cheese with strong mashed tomato. We couldn’t carry on with the thin pizza so the waitress was nice enough to take it back and discount the bill..we ate one slice from deep dish and the rest was trash.
