2019: Food was ok 2024: Food was good! Got the 2 for $25 skillets plus an appetizer. The Dos Hombres Mezcal Rita was really good too! Also love the Bourbon Street chicken and shrimp with mashed potatoes!! 2025: Really, really good smoocho cocktail, Passion On The Beach

Usually come here at least 2 to 3 times a week. Honestly its hit or miss! Went last week had a lady ....idk maybe in her early 50s serve us. This was during ik past happy hour start time...she took at least longer then 10 mins to greet us. Then from there.... service ended up being so bad we ended up having the manager serve us. Then couple nights later we went and Mich was our server but also the bartender at the time. He was very discombobulated and all over the place good Lord if he would have just wrote our order down he probably would have gotten it right!! Or God knows??? Maybe he wouldn't??? That kid is all over the place. I can't believe hes actually a bartender in that restaurant. Then last night we went and MJ was our bartender. At first the vibe was kind of off, but as she started to read us a bit it switched up quick. She was very kind and very social. Seems like shes a good kid working hard just tryna get by! The drinks were honestly not that good but I dont think it was her. Just the mixture of the drink was off. Price was acceptable for the buzz lol. The food is also hit or miss with this location.... I think it honestly depends on the cook. Most of the time it's obviously the servers fault for leaving it to long under the lamp. Overall if you go on the right day with the right service its ok. Most of the time this place is just a last resort. They could do much better! The atmosphere is definitely crappy 70% of the time. But hey shout out to MJ! Shes a cool kid! Management could definitely step it up a bit too!

My cheeseburger was not as tasty as usual. They were very busy and understaffed. I noticed tables not getting bussed and all the windows as we were walking in needed a good cleaning. Applebee's is one of our go to places to eat. Disappointed and now hesitant to go again.. They need staff to keep the restaurant clean.

Had appetizer platter was good. Ducked though cuz we came for happy hour prices and sat waiting a seat forever even though there was no other people there. When someone did finally come, they apologized, but wouldn't honor the prices even though it was their fault. Food is great... service sucked.

Server Matt was not very friendly, and not very professional he made a rude comment and usually, we have good service and are regulars. He was talking to other customers and standing around and the coffee was very bitter not good at all.

The service was not that great. The waitresses were nice but the wait time for our meal was a little long. Also I got the bourbon chicken and shrimp. My friend also got they same and both skillets were greasy. I tried separating onto a separate plate but I was getting sick from eating it and was unable to finish it. He was able to finish it but he also did not enjoy how greasy it was.

My whole visit was awful from the start. Before being seated the hostess stated they were short on utensils for our table so 2 of us would have to " use our fingers" ( I get the joke but very unprofessional). The tables were still very dirty ( food on the bench, stains on the upholstery). When our drinks arrived, we were given the actual mixer the bartender uses to pour our own drinks!? After waiting 15 mins, the bartenders have the audacity to give us empty glasses and pour my own drinks? We ordered appetizers to share and we still had not received additional utensils nor did we receive plates to share our appetizers with. Oh and the plates were dirty, of which we didn't see until after we finished eating. The food was below average. Also,I ordered a steak (medium) that was served to me on a hot plate so hot the butter melted and thoroughly cooked my steak into being well done. My waitress was no where to be found during this service unless she was bringing food or giving me the check. Being under staffed isn't an excuse to provide sub par service or have halfa-- trained employees during dinner service. I can see the owner does not care for feedback or negative reviews based on how this location is ran.

Awful service. Just went in for drinks and appetizers. Drinks were ok. Can't speak about the appetizers because we never received them. Was the server with blond hair. Long fake eyelashes and braces. She was awful tried to say the kitchen was backed up when two other couples sat after us had already received there drinks and they're food. Don't waste your time here. We will never return.

I’m tired of giving this place a chance. All staff hide in the back. The host is busy with seating people, to go orders letting others know there’s people ready to be served but it shouldn’t take 30 minutes to get drinks. There are so many things wrong with this Applebees but honestly their #1 problem is staff. Either there aren’t enough people working there or there’s no one there to make the employees do their job. I can excuse a few things like dirty bathrooms, and a long wait time to be seated but when it’s 15 minutes to be seated and 30 to get a soda that’s where I draw the line. Food wise isn’t bad but when I ask for a steak to be medium rare and it comes to me burnt? criminal. I can’t with this place. Try anywhere else.

We waited and waited and waited, they sat other people took their drink order and we still waited the manager even passed by us asked the other table how their food was and us nothing! So we left and two other couples left honestly the worse. Waste of time.

Waitress only came by 2 times , we all ordered there happy hour half off appetizers. Would have been about 50 75.00 total. The manager came out , they didn't have any won ton tacos so they were gonna give us free appetizers. But there were none we wanted so we went from 75.00 total to 127.00 total. They discounted 6.00 off taxes . They really sacked. And this was happy hour . I know 5 of us wernt happy .they really need to stock plenty of the things they offer on there menus.

How do you go from excellent service on the 16th to complete opposite on the 19th. Yes you served the kids but completely ignored the person paying the bill. Kids food arrived and you still didnt take my order yet. I asked 3 people including the person sweeping the floor for a refill. Still did NOT get my refill and no i did not want it to go I wanted to drink it with my meal smh

Every time I give this one particular Applebee's in porterville a try, I am disappointed. Went in today to get drinks and dinner. They had me waiting at least 10 minutes at the table before acknowledging me. And when finally my server came she was inept at finding the drink I ordered on her tablet, wasting another 10 minutes before she asked a coworker and was told that drink was out of stock. So I chose my back up drink, a holiday drink featured prominently on the menu. They were out of that too. You know what the food is not really that good here and I mainly come here for the drinks. So no, I left and once again took my dollars to another restaurant where they know how to deliver a pleasant dining experience. 😢 Complete waste of time

when seated our server literally disappeared for the longest time, we kept trying to get her attention and she kept walking by. she didn’t Eve give us silverware and the food took forever to come out. she was also talking to us in a very rude manner.
