if you like “jacqueline” then you will LOVE ok omens. i especially like coming here for their happy hour to get their fresh oysters. overall everything here is delicious. they switch out the menu every few months and i’m always excited to try something new. one staple i always get and recommend is the torito salad. it’s so crisp and fresh and pairs well with most entrees! definitely eat here if you haven’t yet!
ok omens has both a lovely indoor interior and outdoor dining space - we had a good feeling as soon as we walked up to the entrance. service was thoughtful and attentive (i.e for certain dishes like the trout toast, if the table is sharing, they’ll bring it out already evenly cut for the party). our interactions with multiple servers were all positive. while there is an automatically applied service + wellness charge that may sound high, the pricing of the food & wine are quite reasonable, and service was consistently good enough that we found it all to be pretty fair. for food, we had the cured trout, dungeness crab salad, bone marrow beef tartare, and bbq mackerel. we were really impressed by how well seasoned and delicious all the dishes were. we found none of them to be either bland or overly salty!! (though of course this is subjective to our palate) great portions as well. while we don’t normally care for wine, it felt like a necessary part of dining here since they call themselves a wine focused restaurant. thankfully their menu made it very approachable to order, with clear descriptions and suggestions for food pairing. we ended up with a delightful glass of german sparkling wine and “n/a sparkling wine-ish thing” cocktail, and i’m actually excited to come back again and try more of their extensive selection.
We came here at the end of a 5 stop food/drink hop for "dessert" (oysters and dry reisling). I loved the different citrus and horse radish and hot sauce that came with the oysters. Very fresh and clean tasting. The dry German reisling was fantastic to pair with the oysters. GET THE BREAD because the smoky butter they have there is unreal. Im allergic to dairy (stomach ache and hives) but I popped a benadryl and 3 lactaids just to try it because my friends face when he took his first bite. Service and staff are amazing there, especially our server yesterday night. She added to the great experience we had!
Oysters ⭐⭐⭐ - had mud worms on it, was a little grossed out - they're ok for oysters, but I'm not an oyster girl - wish they comped the oysters after the server saw all the worms on it Mussels en escabeche ⭐⭐⭐✨ - like this more than the oysters, but less than the fluke crudo - it tastes like marinated fish, which it is - love the tomato and general pairing of the oil - definitely needs bread and butter to cut it Fluke crudo ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ - really complex layered flavors - loved the citrus taste - not fishy at all, but undoubtedly savory Kelp cured trout ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - my partner loved this but it was a little too strong on the fresh horse radish for me - it wasn't intolerable but it was just really hard to eat a lot of it - was really good though ♥️Raw beef with its bone ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ - I really adored this - it was salty sometimes but the server came by and gave us a lemon and it really aided in the taste - very soft, flavorful - not much bone marrow but delicious ♥️Green pole beans and chanterelles ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - undoubtedly the favorite on the table - so fresh and delicious Cheese burger ⭐⭐ - adored the fries, I think they were twice fried and dusted with something to make it extra crispy - just ok cheeseburger, had to ask for ketchup, it didn't blow my mind McFarland springs steelhead trout ⭐⭐⭐ - my boyfriend likes this but it's just ok to me - needs a bit more flavor for me - it is cooked perfectly for steel trout though, not all the way - wasn't chalky
Came for happy hour. The omen spritz is my favorite. The dollar oysters ( one dozen per person) is such a great deal and fresh real horseradish!!! I’ve only had real horseradish on oysters in Vancouver Canada. This was such a treat! We got a wine fight and raw marinade veggies, fried chicken and endive Dungeness crab salad. So good. Yes I ate before the camera. It's that good
One of the best happy hours I’ve been too! Their take on an old fashion was light and refreshing. The oysters were great for 1 dollar a pop!
Ok Omens is a gem! The food is amazing and the wine selection is out of this world. We sat on the patio and it was delightful. The service was great and our server gave us a lot of great info on the wines.
This place is the farthest from OK. Went here for a company dinner and was blown away from the courses. There wasn’t a single dish we didn’t love. I usually make recommendations but honestly I can’t choose between what we tried. It’s definitely fancier than places I normally eat but if I get in a new tax bracket, I’ll definitely come back. Service was amazing and the atmosphere is elegant but comfortable.
The wine pairing was fantastic with every dish. The food was excellent, and the staff was very attentive. Highly recommend.
Everything we tried on the menu was outstanding, and the Fried Chicken appetizer was to die for. Very nice ambiance, attentive staff, and you can tell that there's a passion for great service and great food. Can't wait to come back.
This place (formerly Castagna) has been through a lot of iterations over the years, but it’s still really, really nice. The latest chef emphasizes seafood. The long-time owner is still in the corner, keeping an eye. We had oysters and trout and albacore and chocolate tart. Yum!
Had a prefix meal for my sister birthday. It was incredible. Shocked by the quantity of courses. Each person had at least a "bite" but often more. Excellent value for a special occasion dinner. Would love to come back try their standard menu. All the protein was divine. Fresh and well prepared. The sauces and dressings were creative and thoughtfully paired . Drooling just thinking about it. Cocktails were on point. Wine recommendations exceeded expectations.
I've had this restaurant on my radar for a number of years and finally went last night. What an incredibly good restaurant and why it wasn't packed was very perplexing to me. The oyster happy hour scores on many points, but mostly the pristine oysters that were shucked perfectly with no sand and no pieces of shell like you're getting so many places. The steak tartar, aged trout, and skatewing were perfection. The noise level was acceptable and the wait staff perfect. Put it on your to-do list,!
OK Omens is incredible. Exceptional service, insane wines, beautiful pairings. There's not a single thing I'd change about eating here. Trust the process and take their recommendations on wine and food pairings, you won't be led astray.
Loved this place. I had a few cocktails the one that is similar to an espresso martini was the best. The steak Diane is the reason why I will come back along with the donut dessert and wine selection.
We went to OK Omens for their Happy Hour. They also had a pretty big outdoor seating area. Since it was a beautiful day, we decided to sit outside. We got a couple of cocktails, Omens Summer Spritz, and Summer Old Fashioned. Omens Summer Spritz was not very sweet, but had a hint of sweetness. Not overly fruity either. Just a really good adult beverage. Summer Old Fashioned had a great aroma of orange, nice, strong drink to make you relax for sure. We ordered a few HH dishes. First one was Ceviche Cocktail. It wasn’t a big portion, but it sure was packed with ample amount of seafood! Chips had a slight little kick that went great with the ceviche. French Fries with Za’tar Ranch and Ketchup on the side were really nice and crispy. Za’tar had a nice kick to it. “Rotating” Toast on this day was Fava Beans with Hazelnut Romesco sauce, and Mint. This baby sure had me after one bite. It was super amazing! Bread was perfectly crunchy, fava beans had great plump texture, and the flavorful oil making it extra delicious. Last but not least, Open Faced Ahi Torta, which was not a part of the Happy Hour menu, but from their regular menu. Tuna was super fresh, thickly sliced. The spice on top had a kick to it, maybe sansho-type spice? The butter and aioli were sooooo good! We had a nice, relaxing early dinner here. The staffs were very polite and friendly. The food and drinks were delightful. We loved all the dishes, quality you can taste. The Happy Hour prices were super affordable, such a steal!
The happy hour is one of the best around! Such great prices and options. Oysters were perfect, their bread and butter was delish, and I’m a sucker for some great thick fries. Their drinks were yummy - refreshing and not too sweet - and a great wine menu too. We enjoyed our cheeseburgers and steaks - solid and straightforward but not necessarily mind blowing. Service was great too despite being very busy. Love the open windows and ambiance.
We had mixed feelings about our meal last night. Our cocktails were fabulous. The two starters we had; beef tartare with the bone marrow addition and the beets with celery root were by far the best bites. We all agreed we would order those again. Our entrees probably not. My husband’s pasta was not a dish I’d keep on the menu. As the only pasta option and I believe the only vegetarian option, it should have standout flavors particularly when described with chanterelles. My trout was great. Not a fan of the squash that came with it. It was a nice presentation, but It really clashed with the trout and sauce served on the plate. My friend’s crab salad had maybe two tablespoons of crab. For $23, it’s best to put some crab in it or take it off the menu. And last, the $30 pork chop was nondescript. My friend was so disappointed. Small portion, way too pricey. Our server was so polite and welcoming but so forgetful. We had to ask three times for additional bread for our tartare and then she forgot to give us the marrow bones we specifically asked to have packaged for take-home. Lots of little things added up to a 3 out of 5. We’ll come back for starters and cocktails.
Restaurant was extremely cold to a point of discomfort, despite my normally running quite hot. Small menu that was out of an entree and appetizer and multiple of the short list of wines by the glass. Staff failed to remotely address these concerns despite complaints. Service was a bit slow and food came cold. A place with a lot of potential and much of the food was well executed, but this place failed on a number of levels. Would not recommend.
Arrived for our 7pm reservations at 6:50 for Valentine's pre fix menu for a four course meal. Asked for our check and desert to go at about 10:30 because we'd been sitting with our desert wine pairing with no desert for 40 minutes. Not once during our entire "service" did our waitress check in on anything, not once was there an acknowledgement that the kitchen was behind. She seemed excited to give her script about the wines, but when she brought our food she would drop and run. Our main course which arrived about 30 minutes after its wine "pairing" was slightly warm. Not excited about eating room temp fish and steak. We did not exit the restaurant until 10:40. I watched tables that had arrived an hour after we did get course after course before we did. We are foodies. We love great wine, great food, and great service. We appreciate a slow meal where we are not rushed. But this was not that at all. Please work on your service, please get someone to manage your operations who cares about service. Our "tip" of 22% was included and we paid ~364 for a really bad experience. The first two courses were delicious, the wine pairings were great. If our server actually cared about our experience and looked out for us it might have been a very different night.
