Gracies holds a special place in my heart. LOVE their brunch, the staff are so friendly. With the beautiful vintage building the restaurant is in, it carries such an old school vibe. When I was in high school (right near by) I would get up early with friends and grab a tasty brunch. So many memories!

Food was unexplainable. Delicious, amazing, filling, and just art work. Beautiful restaurant very nicely decorated. Desert menu is a must try! Good chef

Wonderful atmosphere and the most amazing waffles I've ever had! The apple sauce and cinnamon whipcream made this for me. Highly recommend this place for brunch.

Location and staff were great! Enjoyed brunch during a baby sprinkle with friends. Both the Ham Benedict and memosa were delicious!

The waitstaff were quick and kind. Definitely a great place for food, all the menu items we ordered were well put together and cooked and seasoned perfectly.

Great service and location. Food was carefully prepared the service staff were busy but very attentive. A great place for brunch! Get the Lobster Benedict!

Good food with reasonable prices in a very beautiful dining room; Gracie's is located inside Hotel deLuxe near Providence Park. I have been here for breakfast a couple times and have enjoyed everything I've tried, most especially the huevos rancheros. I would to come for one of their tea events, as I have heard they do a wonderful job. It's quiet and relaxed here, and a great place for brunch if you have a big group as they accept reservations and are rarely crowded. Bonus: the bathrooms are nice, and there are real cotton hand towels rolled up in a big pyramid to use.

I loved this place. Best breakfast in months. It was a little expensive but still great.

We had a delicious breakfast at Gracie's. Our server was wonderful, and quick to refill coffee and take our order. The food was great as was the atmosphere. Would love to return the next time I'm in Portland.

A dear friend and and I go to Gracie's every Christmas for breakfast! This year, we had the crêpes and they were above perfection! Our server was also amazing, and her service was exceptional!!

My wife and I attended the Glamorama drag brunch, and had a pretty fun time. The food was excellent, particularly the avocado toast; service was competent, although they seemed to be scrambling to keep up most of the time (not surprising, since it was a packed house), and there were a couple minor flubs; we received the house salads with champagne vinaigrette (which were awesome!) instead of our avocado toast at first...but then ALSO received our proper order shortly thereafter, so that is a mistake in our favor - no harm, no foul. The menu is a fixed, three-course deal: appetizer, entrée and dessert, for $100 ($200 for VIP meet-and-greet with the queens after the meal, if you feel so inclined), and runs (ostensibly) from 10:00am to noon, although our particular event started and ended late. Good thing, because we were a little late ourselves! Between the two of us, we also ordered the fried rice (excellent!) and the benedict (also excellent!), and were both stuffed before the third, and final, dessert course arrived. Multiple boxes were needed to take home the leftovers to our toddler son, who devoured everything we brought to him! Bring a wad of $1s, because you're going to need them! There will be multiple queens doing their thang, multiple times, over the whole two-hour affair, so come prepared! Street parking is available, if you are lucky; otherwise, there is a private lot charging $30.99, reduced to .99 cents with validation from the hotel (requires an event ticket or room reservation).

Every time I come to Portland, I stay at the hotel deluxe. And I mostly stay there because of this restaurant. Their breakfast fried rice is the best in the game. I can eat at five days in a row if I’m here for that long. Everybody’s super friendly and they also have amazing cinnamon donuts. And good coffee, if you haven’t been here, come check it .

We had an awesome brunch at Gracie's. The hotel feeling was mellow and a great start for our day. It's not always easy to find good spots for mid-week brunch, so this was perfect. The food was exactly as it should be. The radicchio salad is different in a good way. Service was perfect, knowledgeable and timely. Will def come back. We were a few bites in when we took the salad pic 🙄😁

Beautiful restaurant in the hotel deluxe, very elevated experience. Our server was a sweetheart and made the experience even better. I got the chiliquilas rojo with scrambled eggs instead of over easy. The flavors were just so perfect together. Would love to come again, definitely a gem for brunch!

We had an anniversary brunch here & were so impressed with this place. The atmosphere was excellent & my wife loved all the little details. The food was delicious & presented very nicely. My wife had the Eggs Benedict with the Potatoes Anna & I got the pork Chilaquiles - we loved our choices.

Simple elegance. Friendly staff. Appreciate the upbeat classic pop music. Very convenient, staying the deluxe hotel. Prices are fair. Eggs Benedict all the way. Hesitated on the lobster. Next time. I’d make this a regular for PDX. I usually stay the crystal hotel. But this location was more near the client I’m in town to work with. Great find.

Overall the food was pretty good. One of the people at my table said they had the best avocado toast they’ve ever tried.

Our waitress was superb. The food was delicious and the atmosphere great. Would go back again. Celebrated a friend's birthday there. We brought our own cake and was informed that there was a $30 fee to have it served there which was a bit ridiculous, but other than that - a great place.

My 3rd time having afternoon tea at Gracies and this was by far the best experience. Great service, beautiful and delicious tea food. Highly recommend if looking for a formal afternoon tea especially if you are GF.

S

Gracie's does an excellent traditional Afternoon Tea. Each guest selects a tea for their personal teapot from a variety of Smith teas. Smith created a blend specifically for Gracie's, so we went with that tea (very tasty black tea). The service includes the full traditional tier of tea sandwiches (cucumber, salmon, ham, chicken salad, roasted veggie), two types of scones with clotted cream and preserves, and desserts (jam filled cookies, chocolate mousse in a chocolate shell, raspberry cake). Everything was delicious. The server was perfect - educated on tea and the tradition of the service without any pretention. The ambiance was spot on for an afternoon tea; elegant decor, piano playing softly in the background, etc. We heard guests at another table request a vegetarian service and they were accomodated. I would highly recommend the Deluxe Hotel and Gracie's restaurant for afternoon tea. This is the type of experience that would be great for a birthday/special occasion.

First time here and I LOVED it. Came in for breakfast with my daughter and absolutely enjoyed the experience. Our waitress Michelle - was so attentive and helpful .... i tried the Ham Benedict(WOW) my daughter bacon n egg fried rice( WORTH THE TRY) the food was sublime (Compliments to the Chef) and the hostess was a sweetheart who helped make a reservation since their system was down. Already Making reservations for next Saturday -😍

We had a nice brunch here - food was tasty, coffee was good, and the waitress was very friendly! Definitely check it out, especially if you’re staying at the hotel it’s attached to

It's a little on the loud side, but the decor and atmosphere are wonderful. Staff were incredibly friendly and good natured :) Ordered an omelet, German pancake, and chilaquies. They did not disappoint 👏. Great portion size and I would absolutely recommend getting yhe champagne bucket with your brunch.

Excellent food and service. The Lobster Eggs Benedict was perfect. Sauce, sufficient lobster, and eggs poached to perfection. Best to make reservations, or you'll be disappointed because the wait could be a long one. Staffing issues, like many businesses in Portland, may cause need for requesting a missed item more than once...as was ketchup at our table, or a bit of a wait for coffee. Relax. Enjoy the ambiance and excellent dishes.

I went with 3 loved ones to Gracie’s for Christmas brunch. The atmosphere was lovely. They had a buffet for much of the meal, and we ordered our main entree from a menu. The food was delicious, well presented and filling. It was one of the best meals out that I have ever had. What a delightful time.

I came here with my grandmother, Sally who came here as a child when it was the Mallory hotel. The historical ambience and architecture is so glamorous and the food was divine. This is one of the tops restaurants in Portland and I couldn’t give it a higher review! It seems to be a Portland best kept secret so get there before it gets too busy!

A great place to get brunch when you don’t feel like fighting the crowds. Food is good.

HIGH TEA IN PORTLAND Our party of 5 had their high tea on a Sunday and all of us thought the majority of the food was excellent. My favorites were the scone with clotted cream & jam, the cucumber sandwich, ham toasty, and chocolate tart. I did not finish the shortbread cookie or lemon bar. I loved their Smith tea selection and opted for the Lord Bergamot. They have sugar cubes and some sort of dairy product to go with the tea. It was delightful to sip the tea while eating the sweet bits, The host was rude to our elderly mothers because they arrived 5 minutes before their scheduled reservation and made it clear our party could not be seated prior to the exact time. Their delivery was snotty and clearly without regard to the customer. The dining room was mostly empty and our table was clean/set. Very odd for a “posh” experience. None of us ordered anything extra and we paid $78 per person including tip.

This restaurant is so beautiful! Stayed at the hotel for a night. Had breakfast here and we love it. Excellent customer service, good vibes, and such an elegant-looking place. The food varies on what you order. My fried rice seems to be missing a taste of soy sauce but overall, it is pretty tasty. Everything else was perfect as is! Come back for afternoon tea and dinner when they reopen these services. !

The lobster egg Benedict left me feeling disappointed. I had a high expectation. On the bright side, the crepe and burger were great. I must say, the service was exceptional!

The food strikes a note between nostalgic and trendy, the location with old world opulence and low key informality, Gracie's makes a welcome change from typical porty places. Places where people, afraid to not conform, stand in line for an hour for sceabbled eggs that they then give five stars to if they didn't need to be rushed to an ER for a stomach pump. I had the lobster Benedict with blueberry muffin. The muffin - a crisp outside, fluffy inside, and just the right crumble on top. Lobster was nicely done, eggs perfectly runny, sauce well balanced. Coffee was a bit bitter, service a bit unpolished but genuinely nice. It should be mentioned there's public parking in a garage across the street as this is in a somewhat congested part of downtown.

The lobster rolls and bacon egg fried rice are great. But the beet salad taste not good.

D
Daniel Onofriychuk

I got the chilaquiles and was surprisingly better then I thought it would be, at first glance this spot appeared to be more of a "pay for the atmosphere" kind of restaurant with mid food, and while it is on the pricier side the food was better then I anticipated, although not the best chilaquiles I've ever had still a solid chilaquiles, would recommend for a fancier brunch but be ready to pay a premium price

My husband and I live in Portland and have been to Gracie’s for breakfast three times. The dining room is beautiful, and the food and coffee have mostly been very good, though the experience hasn’t been consistent. They make their own English muffins for the eggs Benedict, which is a nice touch, but on one visit they seemed day-old at best, possibly previously frozen. The $15 waffle on another visit was unfortunately not really edible. We also experienced a visit where the (only) oven was out, making two items on the limited, but otherwise appealing, menu unavailable. I understand there are new owners, and this place has real potential. The staff is friendly and means well, but service felt chaotic and too casual for the level of ambiance; more structure and uniforms would help. With better management and consistency, this could become a standout dining spot, on par with Seattle’s best like the George.

This review is for brunch only at Gracie’s. We had dinner previously and I would give higher rating on their dinner. For brunch, we had lobster Benedict and ham Benedict. Lobster was good but Ham was dried. The egg was slightly over cooked. The potato side was a little greasy. Overall, the food was average. With many other good brunch options in Portland, I will have hard time to find good reason to come back. On the good note, the service was great. Our server was very attentive.

First visit to the Hotel Deluxe in Portland, Oregon, which gave us the chance to eat at Gracie’s. This is the on-premises restaurant for the hotel, serving Breakfast/Brunch until 2 pm, with no dinner service. We had a party of 3 for a late morning breakfast and were seated right away. Service was prompt at the start but diminished from there with slow and disjointed service. As in many restaurants currently, it lacks from full and experience staff. Food was served hot, and all dishes were very well prepared and tasty, though 2 of 3 were delivered far in advance of the one. Kudos to the staff for recognizing the delay and bringing a complimentary muffin to the person waiting. For food, the Avocado Toast was a smaller portion, with only 1 slice of bread for the sliced avocado and egg. Ordered both a Traditional and a Lobster Benedict, which the Lobster Benedict was far above better than the Traditional. Both benedicts had perfectly poached eggs, and uniquely a house made “English” muffin, more like a Johnny Cake, which was delicious. Overall, Gracie’s is a convenient place to grab a morning/afternoon meal in the hotel and would return to try something else. Update: Visited Gracie’s the following morning, and service was worst with continued forgotten item, and the same disjointed service. The food was still delicious and had nice portions, with again the Lobster Benedict, Club Sandwich, and Waffle with a side of sausage links. (Note: No sugar free syrup is available) Hint for visit: If you like Benedicts and seafood go the extra cost and go for the Lobster Benedict.

My family and I are staying in the hotel connected to the lovely restaurant. The atmosphere is high-end while still being able to maintain a casual vibe. The food is picturesque when brought out but unfortunately for my experience the eggs Benedict I ordered was under poached. (But I’m also just picky with that) The service we received also was a bit chaotic. The first server we got was a lovely younger girl who was kind and quick. Though our table was shared with an additional older waitress who came off strong blaming her efficient co-worker for HER poor performance. She rarely checked on our table and when she did it was a lot of “the other gal didn’t get it?” Which just made us feel uncomfortable.

I stayed the night at the Hotel Deluxe the weekend I proposed to my significant other. The next morning we decided to get breakfast from Gracie's before we checked out. We called down at 7am when they opened and whomever answered somehow hung up on us as soon as they answered. We tried calling back with no answer. We called back about 5 mins later, no answer, waited another 10 mins and called again. No one would answer until 7:30. We ordered bacon and egg fried rice and the ham Benedict Arnold. They said about 15 mins. After standing and waiting in the lobby the food was ready about an hour later. There were only two other customers sitting in the restaurant and no one waiting for a food order other than me. Not really sure what the wait was about. The hostess who eventually brought my food was the person who was answering the phone. The wait staff were well dressed who were serving the 2 guest tables in the restaurant, and the hostess was wearing a grey dingy hoody and looked like she just rolled out of bed. The food tasted good, except the Benedict Arnold was half knocked over in the to-go box. I didn't knock the bag on the elevator ride back up to the hotel room, so they must've tipped the food over when they packed the bag. "Sleeping beauty" the hostess was clearly not paying attention. Will never order from here again - even if I stay at the hotel in the future.

My mom and I have had high tea across the nation - it's our thing! We both used to work at a tea house, so we always love to try new places when we have the chance. We were both disappointed by the high tea here - for the price and the exclusivity of the reservations, we were underwhelmed by the actual food. The scones were much smaller than expected, the savory flavors were lovely, but there wasn't much of them, and sweets were subpar. I never say this, but I left still hungry after tea. The tea selection was okay, but for having a partnership with Smith Tea Makers, you'd think there would be more options and not three of the same flavor profile (Lord Berg, Black Lavender and another breakfast tea). The wait staff was lovely and the atmosphere was beautiful, especially at Christmas time. Overall, I would not recommend this place when there are other high tea options in OR that we do love.

Had breakfast there a few days ago. Service was extremely slow. Perhaps short handed or poorly managed? I ordered a veggie omelet which had peas and green beans in it which surprised me. The peas were hard and the green beans were raw. Not what I expected. When they were clearing tables around us they were making so much noise clanging plates and silverware together it made it difficult for our group to carry on our conversation. I have worked in restaurants off and on in my 74 years and know that making that much noise is not necessary. I asked another at our table about their meal and they were disappointed as well. Mediocre at best. The dining room is very nice. I used to frequent this establishment 30 years ago and it was wonderful back then. Not so much anymore.

Brian Winters

We had christmas buffet in the past which was good, so this year we made reservations several months in advance. There was no buffet, i ordered a bloody, they were out of bloody mary mix, i ordered steak and eggs. Someone came over a few minutes after our order was taken and told us she forgot to tell our server they were out of steak. After reading other reviews i noticed no responses, which tells me no one reads them, no one cares. I will never go back any day of the year.

S
Sarah Kurd

Today I went to Gracies for high tea and left with anything but a good impression. We were a party of 2 and arrived on time for our reservation. Once we were seated, no one greeted our table for over 30 minutes. Once we were greeted, our server told us we would be helped shortly. 15 more minutes passed and we finally placed our order. Meanwhile, people who came at the same time or after us already had their tea and treat tower. Once the tea and treat tower arrived, we were not impressed by the quality or quantity, it looked thrown together. We have been to many high tea places in Portland and this one was surely the worst. Save your money and find a local tea house instead of this restaurant. Service: 0/5 Food: 2.5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5

S
Serge Roman (White Crow)

The place look amazing like the 40s. I ordered a $25 steak with potatoes and beans and my lady got a $15 trout with long broccoli, Food wasn't to amazing, steak was not worth the money, cheap meat quality I chewed it like a gum to rough and the mead had cartilages on the side, potatoes were a little cold and my mom could make them better the only good thing I liked about the steak was the beans that it. For my lady she said that she liked the trout didn't want to make the day worse then it started she didn't like the long broccoli, FOOD is not worth it's money, there are better place that have better food and cheap, in pictures it looks amazing and expensive not like in real life.

R
Ray Stein

Food was unbelievably average for what I thought would have been an amazing breakfast. Had the eggs benedict. The house made English muffin was very dry and difficult to eat. Not sure why anyone would select this pairing of potatoes with this breakfast plate. Staff were very tired and seemed difficult to kick things into gear. Not what I expected for top reviews as one of the best places in Portland to get breakfast.

C
Carolyn McKinney

Easter brunch was very expensive and awful. Cons: the entree must have been under a heat lamp for hours, the buffet was picked over and stale and we expected non existent champagne at this price. Pros: The server was sweet and the coffee was excellent. Huge disappointment at a previously favorite testaurant.

C
Cassandra

This review is in regards to afternoon tea. You’d unfortunately have a more elevated experience with more decorum at Applebee’s, for a much better value, too. Where to start? First, with the price. It’s $60 with a 20% gratuity included. All fine if the experience is lovely, which it should be. It is afternoon tea at a very, very expensive restaurant. The windows and doors have fingerprints all over them, the booths in the dining room have dog hair and dust on them, the mirrors in the bathroom are covered in dust in the crevices. There aren’t any lotions or particularly nice hand towels in the bathrooms like there are at other luxury hotels that serve tea at this price point. I had a reservation along with other people and had to wait a long time to be seated. No one greets you when you arrive. The service was bad. Nice waitress but terrible service. There were two people to wait on and seat the entire place. There were three ungracefully cut, large, clunky tea sandwiches with stale bread. Unwashed blueberries. Literally could taste the dirt on them. No small cute little jam jars. A literal biscuit rather than a scone. One of the “finger sandwiches” had the appearance of a sloppy Joe and was served on a hamburger bun with like, chicken salad sloppily spooned onto the inside. I could have made this at home for a quick lunch. No thinly sliced layers of cucumber or salmon. All other tables I observed were waiting inordinate amounts of time for their waiters for any given thing throughout the experience. This was a joke of a tea experience. Would never come here or recommend to anyone.

normally i love gracie’s breakfast and brunch, but this easter buffet was so bad. the offerings were bad choices, the sides were bad, and way too expensive. top of my lasagna was burnt black, the steak prime rib okay but the whipped potatoes were hard, not light or whipped and absolutely no flavor. i was surprised and shocked.

S
Stephen Horton

They say they are open till 1, showed up at 12:25 and was told by the hostess that they could not seat us because we were past seating time? It does not say that anywhere. We also waited five minutes for the hostess to show up.
