Opinions de Stammtisch Restaurant Portland
My sister in law has been trying to go to Stammtisch with her for years. We went on Sunday and had a lovely time. The atmosphere feels like a proper pub. There is brick and wood and dark panels. All of the tap handles are fun to see. There is some outdoor seating. The restaurant is set up in an L shape, so you don’t feel surrounded by people. It is cozy. We set at the bar. I went with the Andrechs’ Doppelbock. It was rich and full flavored. I did not need more than one. I had a taste of all three doppelbocks on tap. There was no bad choice. The Lentil Soup will bring me back. The clams were everything you could want. I will be back.
Had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. Very impressive German beer selections, and I highly recommend trying out their Schnitzel. One of the best I’ve had in PNW! Also special shout out to John who did an amazing job serving us with beer and happiness. He’s professional and introduced us to Underberg. Very nice place and will come back again! Thank you John!
Had an absolutely wonderful dinner here. We ordered the pretzel, white wine steamed clams, wursts, and beer. Service was friendly and efficient. The pretzel came with mustard, cheese, and schmaltz dips. I’d never had a pretzel come with schmaltz (chicken fat) before, and it was a delightful surprise how delicious it was. The clams were cooked with a buttery white wine, garlic, and lightly sliced broth, which was again delightful. The wursts came on a bed of warm sauerkraut. 10/10 experience, great ambiance, will definitely come back again in the future.
Love this place! Being from the German speaking area in Europe, it’s like a little home away from home with foods and drinks that are reminiscent of Germany/Austria. The staff is always really friendly and the food and drinks are super tasty. The cucumber salad in particular is my favorite side dish to any main.
When you lived in Germany for a while and enjoyed the traditional foods, anything you purchased as packaged foods taste like cardboard boxes and improper flavored food. When you have foodies in the families, there is no way around harsh criticisms when the foods don't match the traditional tastes, even with touches of fusions. No worries about this place. Come for the foods, stay to enjoy the gathering, and smothered by great services. The foods satisfied the heavy critics of our families that know the great tastes of traditions. There were some lacking compared in the old style cooking, such as smothered mushroom and sauce that piled high over the food. We all understand the cost that associate with the extras, but it's still a small missing mark of the traditional topping over food. The seasoning is on point, but we wonder, why ketchup for the fries instead of the seasoned mayo like the good old days? But the beers. Oh mercy! We wish I live locally to drink all the selections of fantastic beers.
Wow. This place is legit. Awesome German entrees, beers, and sides. I got the beef braten and my wife got the Jäger schnitzel. Both were excellent. Especially with the red cabbage and schpetzel. The desserts were sooo good. We ate ourselves sick. The apple strudel was crisp and warm with just enough spice. The Pot de Creme was Devine. Service was quick, responsive, and attentive without being annoying. The atmosphere was like a beer hall elevated. My only gripe was the tiny-greasy pretzel they give you. Maybe it's more authentic? 🤔 Otherwise, we will be going back for more!
We were very sad a couple of years ago when Gustav's left town but are so happy having found this place. The menu is a lot more traditional + the beer selection is more authentic. Truly enjoyed coming here and looking forward to the next time! Zum Wohl!
Beautiful restaurant and lovely staff. Our server was super helpful with my gluten-challenged friend and modified her order without changing the essence of her plate. We had to get the classic pork shoulder. Sometimes you just need a hearty German meal. The pork shoulder and schnitzel and beer were all good and rightfully in the spotlight but the hidden detail for me the authenticity of their sauerkraut and red cabbage sauerkraut. It was densely good and with character and unlike anything I’ve eaten from a jar. Healing.
Prost! We stopped by this place on a whim, and it did not disappoint! The beers were delicious and huge, the food was top-quality with all of the many different flavors that worked so well together, and the atmosphere was extremely cozy. The curry ketchup is out of this world, by the way! Definitely will be returning soon ❤️😍💥
Stammtisch is one of the most authentic German places in town, without the German attitude. ;) But seriously, incredible beer selection, and super authentic and delicious food. The chicken dish that takes 30-40 minutes is totally worth it. The Schweinshaxe (sp?) is also up there as a must order. Good pretzels with awesome dipping options. Great place to hang out and lose yourself with friends
This establishment is located on a corner in a beautiful area. We were seated quickly. The interior was decorated with Oktoberfest decorations and the lighting was more intimate. They have a great selection of German import beers on tap and a few others. They have 1-liter options for some of their beers, I was really hoping for a Boot. Our service was fantastic with giving us insight to the menu and portions. The food was absolutely amazing! The beef was so tender it just fell apart.
Run, don't walk, for the Schweinshaxe. The crispy skin was exquisite. I also really liked the schmaltz with the pretzel.

Time and again, simply great German food. We lived in Bavaria for three years and the food and beer bring us back in time.

Good German food, the service was great, and overall pleasant atmosphere. It is a pub, however there is a dining area so you can bring your family.

It’s honestly such a vibe, especially if you’re into that dark, cozy, "I'm hiding from the rain" aesthetic. But it’s not perfect, and here is exactly why.bThe food is mostly super comforting, but you have to order the right things: The Bretzel have to start with this. It comes warm with this paprika cheese spread called obatzda that is literally life-changing. Skip the mustard, go for the cheese. Jägerschnitzel If you want a full meal, this is the one. It’s a breaded pork cutlet with mushroom gravy and spätzle It’s super rich and salty, but in a good way. Salt Levels: I love salt, but sometimes they go way too hard. You will definitely need water (or another beer) by the end of the meal. So yeah, go for the vibes and the schnitzel, but maybe skip it if you want a quiet, intimate dinner.
and popping into Germany. Excellent service. We were sat earlier than promised and lucked out with a booth. Loved the selection of dark beers. Pretzel was good but potato pancake was a hard pass and lacked flavor. Would order the spatzel and wienerschnitzel all day long. We also ordered the chicken which they warn takes a while. Meat was tender but I was full by the time it came as I shared my husband’s meal and enjoyed it more. Main downside is it was ridiculously loud. Felt like I’d gone to a rock concert and could barely carry a conversation.
Bit more of a pub vibe than a restaurant but they have plenty of great sounding dishes I haven't heard of tho I don't have much experience with German food besides schnitzels & wursts. \n\nWe happene…

Cozy little neighborhood bar with some outdoor seating as well. Can get some authentic German steins here. Haven't had the food but may one day
I really like the variety of German beers they have available. The food was really good. Didn’t give them 5 stars because it took a long time to get my beer every time I ordered it

Used to love coming here. Feels like there has been slow decline since then. On this most recent visit, more than an hour wait for food. No explanation or addressing from waitstaff. Food brought out separately for table of two. If you are going to charge this much for food, would expect a better experience overall.
We used to LOVE coming here. The beer is amazing of course, but the food was also very memorable. Sadly, the food has gone downhill. Portions smaller, quality lower. It feels as though there’s less care put in. Would love to see it go back to what it was
I wanted to try the wienerschnitzel and we were greeted and told first come first serve, we tried to sit at a table completely clear, no items and menus untouched looking and we were approached by a different waitress trying to say people were sitting there and that they had stepped out for a smoke. I said we were told first come first serve and she rolled her eyes and said if they came back she might honor them lol I said ok, she offered to open a tab and I only wanted one thing so I declined and paid outright for the food, that was brought out very brusquely by another staff member on a paper plate, my drink in a paper cup while everyone around had regular plates and silverware 🤣 I did not tip and will not be back, i could probably make what I had for much cheaper at home but I got what I wanted and it was decent for what it was, overpriced a bit (27$) Next time I'll go to Vancouver, to Gustav's this place seems to be only for being obnoxious and cosplaying German culture with lots of beer 🤷♀️ if that's what you're looking for have at it. I've heard Europe is full of rude service so maybe it's too authentic for me 😉
This is a cute German spot in NE Portland. As someone who speaks German, I appreciated that the menu titles were in actual German and not just a kitschy knockoff. The beer selection was also really…
While we enjoyed eating at Stammtisch, we had to sit and eat at the bar as it was packed! We got our favorite schnitzel entree that we hoped would be like the Prost! restaurant's entrees in Bend as …
Absolutely love love. Love this place's food! However, the past few months there have been times where we arrive and they are closed. We intentionally took a couple with us to try this place out one evening. It was about 35 minutes till closed. We planned on getting beers and an appetizer to share so something quick. As we walked in a gal yelled across the room that they were closed. Rather than giving any respectful or apologetic explanation she just dismissed us. We explained we had checked the hours and again she said they were closing anyways. Was a waste of our evening. We've tried calling ahead at times because of this scenario, but have had no answer. For some reason anytime we've gone in we get our first order such as put in what we want for drinks it takes FOREVER for anyone to come back and circle around. Or if we get our food no one really checks in. Literally every single time we have visited we have had to have someone go up to the bar to order more beverages.
It took two hours to get our food, absolutely unbelievable. If you have 10 items on ur menu at least be prepared. Don't come here ! People got their food before us. We waited two hours and got noth…
