Great vegetarian pizza and our first sparkling lemonade that was quite refreshing. Very friendly staff. We’ll be back!
Delicious & Authentic! Amazing pizza — the closest we’ve found to real Italian, Napoli-style pizza. You can truly taste the quality, especially with the wheat flour imported straight from Italy. The service is great, and the owner is super friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Honestly, forget the bad reviews — this place is a must-try! 🍕🇮🇹
Lots of options for pizza. We ordered one each and they came out within 5-10 minute max which was super quick and they were really good. Staff was kind :)
What a wonderful find in Puerto Escondido! This Italian pizzeria has some of the best pizza I’ve had outside of Italy fresh ingredients, and perfectly balanced flavors. You can really taste the quality and care in every bite. The owner was incredibly welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. You can tell he’s passionate about what he does, and that love for good food and good company shines through in the whole experience. If you’re in Puerto Escondido and craving authentic pizza in a cozy, relaxed atmosphere, this is the place to go. Highly recommended! 🍕🇮🇹
Best Italian Food in puerto ! I’m a local and it’s actually the first time I’ve been here . I’ve been to a lot of other Italian places and la spezia is by far the best ! Don’t pay attention to the bad reviews there honestly just petty people. I was a little hesitant cuz of the “bad reviews” however the bad reviews as I mentioned are just petty people. Service and food is great .
Ok, there are restaurants and then there's La Spezia, otherwise known as Filipos! This is a go to place, reliable excellent and exceptional pasta and pizza. The staff are ALWAYS so pleasant. I have lived here for over 13 years, and when you want good home cooking but not wanting to cook, just make your way here. You will always be greeted with a smile and your food will come to you with kindness and goodness!
The pizza was excellent, really good in fact. Definitely the best pizza I’ve ever had in Mexico. We tried 3 different pies and all were good. Great atmosphere right near the playa. Very reasonable priced like most places here. Give it a go instead of seafood or Mexican cuisine around here.
Wow! Best pizza I’ve ever had! Anywhere!! I am amazed they brought the best pizza of Italy to Mexico and nailed it (yes I’ve been there). Best crust ever and not to mention the friendly accommodating staff and a great price. Also, the best margarita on the whole Main Street! I will miss this place when I leave and pizza just won’t be the same anymore. Hands down, best pizza ever!
This is my go to at least once a week here in PE. The food is amazing and the staff is like family here. Even the owner works and runs the tables when needed. Much respect to all of the staff here. I’m from Philadelphia and think the pizza is much better here. Thank you to everyone at La Spezia for a place I can come to and feel like home.
When ever I want pizza this is where I go. I highly recommend this place. The staff is friendly and the food is great. Best pizza in all of Puerto. Not only the best pizza in town (much better compared to Philadelphia) but the staff it’s awesome and everything I’ve ever ate here is amazing!!!
I've been meaning to try La Spezia since I first walked past and caught the scent... For a second I was transported to a street in New York! Now, I freely admit to some pretty stringent standards in my choice of pizza. (I will also admit to having settled into a slightly defeatist attitude in my eternal quest.) I ordered take out on my first visit to La Spezia, consisting of a caprese salad and a mushroom/olive pizza. Simple and mind-blowing... The crust was thin, light and chewy, perfectly yeasty and a prime example of high quality pizza dough. I do not have a celiac allergy, but I am usually affected by gluten. I did allow many hours to pass whilst I polished off the majority of the pie. Fantastic all around! Flavor, texture and positive physical response gets them five stars. This was for a take away order! My caprese salad was lovely. Seemingly an heirloom tomato or something... I like more basil, but that's a non issue. I am definitely going back AND I'm forsaking any other pizza places I've tried in Puerto Escondido. La Spezia hit the spot!

Nicely located in the restaurant neighborhood in the place you will see mostly tourists. Service personal speaks perfect English since he was Dutch. Very tasty pizza and pasta. Owner seems Italian.

Hands Down Best italian restaurant in Puerto Escondido! Food is super fresh, made with so much pride, its delicious! And the pizza is to die for... Massive portions, family friendly and also great …
Went here for happy hour and the one-for-one deal for some of the cocktails was great value. Service was friendly and the outside seating was very pleasant. The dough was excellent, but something about the rest of the pizza felt like it wasn’t put together as well as it could have been. Overall, still a nice experience.
Really good Especially the pasta frutti di mare with a wine of glass italiano. Pizza Diabla too. The food was good the atmosphere was incredible but… I think the could do better with the service. Other then this 2 plate of pasta,1 pizza, 1 glass of wine and 1 pitcher of water cost us 770 pesos/ 60$ CAD

La Spezia perfectly satisfied our craving for an Italian meal. House made fettuccini was well prepared and they had a gluten free pasta available. Didn't have a pizza but they sure looked good. …
7 out of 10 Great place for pizzas. They have a pizza oven and pizzas are quite good, real Italian flavours. We ordered a pizza contadina (8/10) and pasta with pesto (6.5/10). Pasta was good but I was expecting more, the menu said pasta is homemade but spaghetti did not seem home made. The pesto was homemade but flavour was 7/10, a little more of albahaca would make a huge difference. Atmosphere was good, but nothing too special. Service is a little bit slow but they already warn you in the menu. I would recommend the place to anybody looking for Italian around puerto escondido.
Pasta was disgusting… we haven’t finished even 1/4th of the meal. Salmon cream pasta was too creamy, it did have that milk smell. My tomato seafood pasta was too sour. It felt like that the sand from seafood was grinding on my teeth. I have tried seafood pasta before at multiple places and I have never had that sand taste.
We have years visiting this restaurant and we used to love everything about it. Unfortunately our visit today was just nothing Special on the food front, the Spaghetti a la putanesca tasted as if it had catchup in it. The attitude of the Management of the place leaves a lot to be desired, no constructive critisicm is accepted. It is a shame.
When we first sat down, we actually thought we were in for a good night — service was quick, and the place looked promising. That feeling lasted about five minutes. We ordered gnocchi with four cheeses (which was fine if you enjoy bland pasta) and a pizza, which somehow became the restaurant’s greatest mystery. After an hour of waiting, we finally asked about it, only to find out the server had either forgotten it completely or gifted it to another lucky table. To make the experience even more awkward, the owner decided to scold the server loudly right in front of us — nothing like a live drama performance during dinner! Once we reminded them, the pizza magically appeared about 10 minutes later — almost like they had just remembered they were running a restaurant. Of course, it didn’t come as advertised: instead of sausage, we got chopped-up hot dogs. A creative twist, I guess, if you’re aiming for “daycare lunch menu” vibes. Hoping for at least a decent drink, I ordered a Clericot. The server forgot that too. When we finally tracked down the bartender, he apologized — not for the service, of course — but to let us know they had no apples, so no Clericot either. And no, no one ever apologized for the chaos, offered a discount, or even attempted to make things right. Apparently, at this restaurant, you get to pay full price for the full experience of being forgotten, yelled at, and served mystery meat. Would not recommend unless you enjoy dinner theater featuring kitchen meltdowns.
