This place is AMAZING! All around best place to eat downtown. The service is top notch - we love Salliereid and Jib. The food although a little pricey is of great quality and especially delicious. The place is such a vibe - it’s a brewery, restaurant and also has books, coffee/ tea. Lots of gluten free options and the staff is super understanding and helpful in that area. Definitely try this place out.

Such a cool spot in downtown Raleigh! The vibe here is amazing- stylish, cozy, and full of character with the mix of brewery, flower shop, and dim sum restaurant all in one. The food is always on point — love the pork buns, dumplings, and moon cake dim sum. Their Matcha San cocktail is my favorite smooth, creamy, and not too sweet. The staff is always friendly, and it’s just a fun place to hang out. Definitely one of my favorite spots downtown!

Great experience! Let me tell you why... I walked in to get my wife and I on the list for a table at around 3 or 4pm. The kind person at the host station informed me that the wait for a table was HOURS (I believe the time was 915pm) but they have a full-service bar, meaning we could get food and drinks there, as long as there were seats available. My wife and I got a few seats at the bar, were greeted immediately, and had samples in our hands almost as quickly. We opted to take advantage of the Dim Sum section of the menu. We got the Pork & Chive Shumai (1st pic), Duck Egg Rolls, Chicken Curry Bao & Jiaozi Chicken Dumpling (not pictured). The shumai was amazing without the house dumpling sauce and still really good with it. The egg rolls came with a house dipping sauce (not be confused with the house dumpling sauce) which made the not-greasy-at-all deep fried rolls taste delectable. The two other dumplings were good with the house sauce, but between those two the chicken curry was the standout. I tried (and ended up choosing) the Festbier (an Oktoberfest beer), the Grove (a double IPA, without the overwhelming bitter aftertaste), and the Rosecomb? I also had a cocktail that has a name that I can't recall and the name isn't on the online menu. Joshua created it and if I get back there anytime soon, I'm getting a few more! Gotta be a fan of citrus/bitters tho or ya might not like it.

Brewery, dim sum, bookstore AND a flower shop? You got it here all in one! Really great beers and the ambiance is so unique and special too. Really enjoyed the multifaceted nature of this place that makes it a bit quirky but works! I really enjoyed the Glean beer with its mango peppercorn accents that is a great at wetting your appetite before food. For the dim sum, my favorites was the Ginger Salad and Crab Fried Rice. Everything was delicious though and great to share with a small group. Service was nice and attentive too!

Food is always on point. Unique dishes with plenty of options for all palates. Been coming here for 8 years and it's my absolute favorite restaurant in Raleigh. Shout out to Spencer who is genuine, attentive, and chill.

The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing, the service is always warm, and the food is incredible. My absolute favorite is the pork & chive shumai — perfectly seasoned, tender, and so flavorful. Pair it with one of their unique craft beers and it’s an amazing experience every time. Highly recommend!

Came to see the Billie Eilish concert. Flew from Indiana. Wasn’t planning on going here but the place I wanted to (next door) was still closed for an hour so I stop by for a drink. The atmosphere was tranquil. Very relaxed and pleasant. They told me I could walk around as there was a library . The natural sunlight from the ceiling helped with the vibe. Felt like I was not in some city in NC, it was like some futuristic utopia. Even had a book store . Had an espresso martini. Probably the best I’ve had. Was creamy and delicate just how I like it. Had a beer there too. It hit the spot. The staff was knowledgeable and extremely kind and polite. They even helped me charge my phone. The experience was so good, I decided to order food. Got the pork shumai and crab ragoon. Both tasted fresh, flavorful but not overpowering as these dishes tend to me. The casings of both were thin and crispy for the ragoon and soft and thin for the shumai. What got me was the pork bao. I tasted homely in a good sense as if my mother made it even though she never made this dish. As if I got teleported to rural China and lived there all my life and twice a year my grandmother would make this for the family for a holiday. It was warm, soft, and tasted like heaven. It tasted so good I didn’t want to swallow or finish the dish, but of course I did. I wish I came here originally, I would of gotten the duck but I wanted to save room for the other place. 10/10 highly recommend and would go there again, if I’m ever in town.

If I could give the service 10 stars I would. Our server Anthony went above and beyond for our dinner. He was patient, gave us tailored recommendations, checked in at the perfect times, assured us we were clear on dishes with allergens, and remembered the little details. He was so personable and even gave us comped glasses of champagne for a birthday we celebrated. The place is adorable — part brewery, part flower shop, part book shop and restaurant. And they do it well!

This was my second time at Brewery Bhavana, and it somehow gets even better each visit. I always make it a point to stop by whenever I’m in the city... it’s that good! The food is incredible: full of flavor, beautifully presented, and with lots of unique and delicious vegan options (which I truly appreciate). The drinks are phenomenal, the decor is stunning, and the vibe is just perfect, lively yet welcoming. Even though it’s a busy spot, the service is consistently warm and attentive. Brewery Bhavana is truly a jewel in downtown Raleigh. Highly recommend!

Had a great experience. Our server Julia was so helpful and took the time to explain everything in depth. (Please tip her well) We ate and loved all of her recommendations: Mild Green 💚 drink, Shanghai Mooncakes! Seafood Dumplings were dope, and the Sweet Soy Chicken was moist and delicious.

J
Jennifer Compean

Our server was really amazing as well as the food. They were out of some of beers but we still found drinks that were very good. The Matcha-San cocktail was so good. The espresso martini was not very bold here so not my favorite. Our favorite dishes were the Shanghai Mooncakes, Ginger Salad and Lo Mein Noodles with chicken. We tried some other dim sum items which were very good too.

Brewery Bhavana was a great restaurant that checked the box on mini things. The place was nice and clean, the layout and design was great and included a bar area and more of a formal sitting area. The background books on a bookshelf that you could read. The food was really good. I have to give props to the chili oils spice on the table. Delicious! We ordered several dishes and the dumplings were great, and the dim sum and buns were delicious. The crab Rangoon was great. We also ordered some jasmine tea, which was tasty and they have a wide selection of beer and wine. We ordered a couple of local beers that were really tasty. The customer service was good too. We had our waitress who checked on us every now and then and then other servers would bring out the food. Overall, we thought this place was pretty good and recommend.

This place is more than meets the eye; not only is it a distillery, it's also a bookstore, flower shop, and dim sum restaurant! The space inside is beautiful - it almost feels like an upgraded living room, a unique gathering space. Their dim sum is the real highlight; we ordered veggie dumplings, chicken dumplings, and vegetable samoas and we're still trying to figure out which we liked the best. This is an absolute must if you're in the area!

M

Phenomenal dim sum and even better atmosphere! Moon Cakes are a must try alongside the Seafood Dumplings. If you craving an unexpected experience to tantalize your taste buds this is the place to be!

I

Really nice concept of local bewery tasting, a little expensive for dim sum, but I can understand from Ambiance created for a relax and provide library of books. Thank goodness there is no tv. Now we can taste a good beer and have a conversation. We will come back❤️👌

Dinned here on a Friday evening. It was fully occupied and we had to wait few min at bar side and get a table by the bar instead of the main area as the main dinning seats were all reserved and full. The ambiance and the interior deco is very interesting with lot of books and nice holiday theme. We have ordered Veg Puff Pastries and Beans both were very tasty and in good portions as well. The desert chocolate cake was okay. Overall a great restaurant to try if you are in mood of good drinks, Food and Fancy dinner.

We had a great time here for a hang out dinner on Saturday night. The menu is sectioned out so you can either do small plates for the table (dim sum) or entrees for individual dining. And all of it is outstanding. The food is made with care and Pride, the ingredients are fresh and of quality too. Courses can be staggered so you can settle in for the whole experience. The edamame dumplings were shockingly good. I was not expecting them to be the standout dish of the evening. The mooncakes are also just, ugh, chef’s kiss. Anything with bao is a must and the duck was so succulent and crispy. If you do order the duck, let them know early on because it does take a while to prepare. You definitely want to get reservations ahead of time though! Sometimes you can squeeze in a same day res, but planning ahead is the way to go to make sure you get to eat at your preferred time.

I really enjoyed the food, the service, and the atmosphere. This place offers vegan and vegetarian options as well dishes that contain meat. This is a great place to go with a group of friends or a date.

S

Absolutely loved my solo dinner at the bar here. The menu is probably better with a person or three to split the shumai, bao, etc but is still worth going alone. I did the bone marrow (~ $26) served with scallion pancakes and oxtail and it was insanely good. The pork and scallion shumai were a delight (~ $15). The bao were awesome but likely take up more of your appetite as a solo diner than I would do again. Great to share! I had two beers, bao, shumai, and the bone marrow and was all in with tax and tip at $97. The staff behind the bar were awesome. Great for couples or solo diners !

C

So damn delicious. The matcha san is the best matcha drink I’ve ever had. Creamy, smooth, refreshing. I’d go back every weekend for the pork and shrimp shumai if I could. Unfortunately, I live out of state. 💔 I topped every dumpling with their salty chili crisp for the perfect bite. We also ordered the BBQ pork bao buns, xia long bao, crab rangoons, lapcheug fried rice, and seafood dumplings with Chinese donuts. The crab rangoons left more to be desired and fell in last amongst the superb spread. Felicia, are server, was attentive and kind.

Absolutely loved the food. This was overall a magnificent experience. Our food was delicious and reasonably priced and our server was friendly, attentive and super helpful with her recommendations! The Peking Duck and green beans were our personal favorites. Can’t wait to be back!

This place is fancyyyyyyy. 11/10 for interior decor. It feels like a place I want to bring a date or friends from out of state to. Possibly even better in the daytime with natural light coming through the center of the building. The kitchen closed by the time we got there but drinks were still available. Not my favorite, but there is a pretty decent selection. Can get a little loud with all the people talking, but its mostly a level white noise feel. Love the tall ceilings and the free to read books. Odd how they place actual candles next to them though. Really cool place in downtown Raleigh.

Everything about this experience was exceptional. Our hostess, whose name I sadly didn’t catch, and our server Adam both noticed we were celebrating a birthday without being told, and generously comped one of our dishes as a birthday surprise. They even brought a small bouquet. I didn’t expect that level of service, and our whole table was delighted by their care and attention. The atmosphere was pleasant even though the place was fully packed, and our food and cocktails were excellent and timely even with the traffic, which is a real achievement. Their house drinks are clever and tasty, too. Well be back.

This place is a gem. The vibe is lovely, the dim sum is incredible. Get the corn milk martini!

A
Alex Wolf (ImmaculateMishap)

We had an incredible experience here from start to finish. The N/A shrub wasn’t too sweet, my girlfriend loved her beer, and our gai lan dish was immaculately prepared. We followed up with Jiaozi chicken dumplings, duck egg rolls, Lap Cheung fried rice (pictured), and cold sesame noodles (pictured). The roasted banana cake and chocolate turtle cake were great treats to finish our meal. Service from Ross, Anthony, and the manager we met was impeccable. The cooks here REALLY know what they’re doing! This stuff is art. I will undoubtedly be back.

C
Clint Shedrick

This was our first time at Brewery Bhavana and it sure did not disappoint. The staff, the service, and the food were amazing. We had cabbage rolls and crab rangoons for appetizers, with General Tso's and Beef with Longhorn peppers as our entrees. Everything was exceptional. We will definitely be back.

R

Absolutely loved this place. The Matcha-San martini and the pork belly rice cakes were SO delicious. We tried two kinds of pork buns and they were very good as well. Service was great both at the table and the bar, and atmosphere was so much nicer than expected - I was worried there was a dress code... lol. They even surprised us with cupcakes and champagne for our anniversary, which was a very sweet touch.

Excellent food and atmosphere! Definitely pricey but great for a date night. Fresh and light! We waited 20 minutes to sit at the bar and the barkeeps were so attentive. Make a reservation if you want to go on a Friday night for a table.

If you're looking for a truly unique dining experience that blends the best of craft beer with vibrant Chinese flavors, this brewery is a must-visit. The atmosphere is sleek and modern, creating a stylish backdrop for the bold fusion of Chinese cuisine on offer. The food is a revelation — from the delicate, pillowy bao that bursts with flavor to the perfectly roasted Peking duck. Service is attentive, and the staff are well-versed in both the menu and the beer offerings, helping you navigate the pairing choices with ease. The ambiance strikes just the right balance between casual and refined, making it ideal for everything from a fun night out to a special occasion. All in all, this brewery delivers an unforgettable dining experience, combining the best of Chinese cuisine with expertly crafted beers. It’s a must-try for food lovers and beer enthusiasts alike

Brewery Bhavana is one of the coolest restaurants I've dined at within the last few years. It's a brewery with really tasty beer, book store with some great books, flower shop with pretty flowers, and most importantly, dim sum. I must be honest: I wasn't crazy about the idea of dim sum when it was suggested because I haven't had good experiences. However, Brewery Bhavana changed all of this. My brother-in-law took us and did all of the ordering. We had a couple of dim sums that were filled with pork. Both were delicious. The buns were light, fluffy, and full of flavor. The pork inside was equally as good. One had a Korean barbecue flavor (Char Siu Bao) and the other was stuffed with pork and mushrooms (Pork Bao). The in-house sauce they make compliments the buns perfectly. If it wasn't frowned upon, I would have licked my plate clean. The spice crunch was the perfect finish to the buns. We also ordered the green beans which were a hit. The lo mein noodles were divine. The flavor was great and the meat was cooked perfectly. As you can see, everything was great. The beer was just as good. I had a pilsner (Brisk) which had a great flavor. My wife had a Rose Ale which was awfully tasty and like nothing I've ever had before. The service was wonderful. Our waitress was very knowledgable with the menu and helped guide us. The space itself is very cool. It's open and well lit with loads of interesting decorations. There is a section where you can walk in and order a drink without food. If you're going during a busy time it'd be best to call ahead and make a reservation. On average, we spent around $30 to $40 per person (this included alcohol). We had a fantastic experience and will return on our next visit.

Had a great first time dining in at Brewery Bhavana for my first time ever. Took my friend Zach along with me, hostess were all extremely friendly and polite. Our server Anna was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant, the contents of the menu and drinks available. It was very busy inside the restaurant but I did not feel like my space was invaded in anyway. Highly recommend! Compliments to head Chef Chun Shi and JC running the show the evening I dined

I’ve dined here several times over the last year and I’ve been fortunate enough to be served by a variety of great servers. But Dawn in particular is always such a joy. Great food, great ambience, and even better staff

Had a wonderful birthday dinner/date night as first time guests here. Bookshop/library was very unique, ambiance was beautiful, sound management was lively but not overpowering, and every order of 5 different dim sum options + dessert were all delicious. Maybe the best old fashioned I’ve had to date, and it’s my go-to cocktail wherever we venture. Madison was an absolute delight. Very attentive, personable, and genuine. She comfortably solidified us as return diners.

Great food and service! I have celiac and they offer many safe, delicious options. They gave me champagne and a small bouquet of flowers for my birthday since they don’t offer GF dessert. So cool!

One of our favorite restaurants in the area. They have consistently great food and service. Absolutely get the seafood dumplings and ask for more of the savory donuts (youtiao) until the sauce is gone. If you have a group, see if they still have a peking duck available and get a few plates of other things to eat family style. You can't go wrong with really any dish or drink we've tried. They also have a great book selection if you want to relax awhile.

T
Tyler Knabb

What an amazing vibe with equally amazing food and drinks. You will not be disappointed. I recommend you and some friends/loved ones order a bunch of plates to share. Some of my favorites were the bao buns, dim sum, dumplings, and crab rangoons. My drink of the evening was the Szechuan Sour, which was a perfect balance of flavors. Our server (Anthony) did a fantastic job; he set the standard for a server (he came to the table when we needed something but did not disrupt our conversations - well done Anthony - we look forward to seeing you again next time)

J

Has one of the best general tso chicken I’ve ever had. And I’ve been to more Asian restaurants than I could count. Flavors were excellent all around, though it’s a stretch to call this place authentic chinese cuisine. It’s about as Americanized as most Asian restaurants, just with better flavor and more extensive options

C
Cristina Beleza

We loved going here for Valentine’s Day! The atmosphere was lovely and the restaurant was decorated beautifully with red roses to suit the occasion. The food was delicious and our server, Spencer, was so attentive and kind. Really recommend!

M
Maria Hansen

Bar drinks and bar staff are excellent. We were seated in the dining room which is decorated simply. We ordered the chicken dumplings, very flavorful and the pickled cucumber salad. We felt the cucumber pieces were cut too large because there just was not any flavor, disappointed. I ordered the General Tso's chicken and my husband ordered the Szechuan fish. My chicken was nice and crispy but was a little tough and mainly tasted like Texas Pete. The fish was overcooked but overall had good flavor.

N
Neha Patel

Really beautiful place, nice evening intimate ambience, tons of seating. Tables are a bit small and it would be nicer if there were bigger. Can have conversation and doesn't get too loud. Got reservations for 2 on a Thursday, service was great. There were quite a few drink changes, but the samples allowed us to find a few good sour and light beers to enjoy. The pork chive shumae was tasty. The chicken curry bao was a bit cold so not my fav tho the bao was a good texture. The pork belly rice cakes was a platter rather than fried cakes so I guess I ordered wrong, it was maybe heavy on the salt and umami. The chili sauce wasn't too spicy. Expensive for sure, nice to go once, but better food akanl dim sum other places.

M
Manuel Villa

It's located in downtown, kind of a sketchy part, next to the bus station, its beatufully decorated, has a very nice atmosphere and the apps and beers we ordered were outstanding. The price for the apps are pretty high for the portions.

P

Food was really good Asian menu items. Interior was a little like a bookstore. Large restaurant, very white/Grey color scheme. Huge long bar. Tons of beers on tap. Food was definitely the star. Definitely dine here!!

K

Beautiful space and great for group dining! We tried a variety of dishes. Soup dumplings, seared chicken curry bao, pork belly rice cakes, and Peking duck. The duck was flavorful, though the first one came out a bit dry. The scallion pancake with bone marrow was fun to try, but not something I’d reorder regularly. The mocktail I had was refreshing, and the pork belly rice cakes were packed with flavor. Out of all, probably the pork belly rice cakes was the one I enjoyed the most. Overall, a stylish spot with solid dim sum and great vibes in downtown Raleigh.

J
Jessie Garcia

The food here is great! I love the crab fried rice and recommend it as the best thing on the menu. The dim sum menu has many options, including food for vegetarians or people with peanut or shell-fish allergies. However, I do think it’s overpriced for what you get and it’s hard to get a reservation here. Still a nice place for a fancy date night or special celebration. We came here for Father’s Day and I can say we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal! My Dad especially liked the beer menu and ordered the milk stout.

S
Santiago Guerrero - Coach

It is a great place to visit the first time. I am not sure if I want to come back. The quality of the food was just OK, nothing crazy in reference to flavor and nice presentation. We ordered the duck egg rolls and they tasted not fresh, like fried from from the fridge...also we tried The Char Siu Bau, (Cantonese bbq pork steamed buns) these were kind of surprisingly good and the coconut cake for desert was fine. The server seemed to be always in a hurry and because it is like a "tapas experience" and he never worried about asking for the quality of the food, just waited for us to finish the plate, and came to the table asking: more food?. With the tip we end up paying $80 dollars, again, kind of expensive for the quality.

K
Kevin Nguyen

The atmosphere at Brewery Bhavana is unique: upscale, stylish, and great for a night out. The soup dumplings and shumai were genuinely tasty, but the portions felt small for the price. I paid around $30–$40 for just a few items, which felt steep, especially since the fried rice and dessert (cake) were just okay. Definitely not a bad experience, but I expected more given the cost. Worth trying once for the vibe, but probably not a go-to for dim sum lovers looking for value.

J
Justin B

Disappointing experience overall We had a reservation but weren’t seated until about 40 minutes after our scheduled time. After asking multiple times, we were eventually told to seat ourselves because the staff didn’t feel comfortable asking the current guests to leave — which was frustrating and unprofessional. Once seated, the food took nearly an hour to arrive. The food itself was just okay — nothing memorable — and to make matters worse, part of our order was incorrect and several dishes were served cold. We ended up spending over three hours in the restaurant, most of which was simply waiting rather than enjoying the experience. While the food wasn’t terrible, the service and overall pacing made this a disappointing visit.

Lack Luster Birthday Experience Attended here for my birthday/anniversary dinner. This was my boyfriend and I second time dining here and after reading the reviews I was expecting a special birthday experience. For a restaurant of this price point you’re paying more for the experience than the food. I made my reservation a week in an advance and specified it was my birthday in the reservation. Several previous reviews noted that on the birthday the restaurant gifts complementary champagne and flowers. There was another birthday happening across from me, where their entire table had champagne flutes which I can only assume were given by the restaurant based on previous reviews. This experience never happened to me, all i experienced was dirty water cups where you can feel the residue on the outside and a candle on the piece of cake we ordered and paid for. I (nor anyone else) is entitled to anything free, but for a restaurant where I easily paid $150 for an experience for two (with a 25% tip), you expect a bit more consistency and attention to detail. Overall it lacked the WOW factor I was hoping for, I received more of that WOW from Publix that same night which gifted me a free ice-cream half gallon for my choosing.

J
Jordan Alexander

This place has great reviews because of one or two reasons. 1- people have not had actual good Chinese / Indonesian food. 2- they care more about atmosphere and trends than they do good food. I had the crab fried which for some reason was over$25. It had tiny chucks of crab, and hardly any of them. The rice did not have the traditional wok fried flavor. Almost seemed more steamed than anything. Came out warm, not hot. The general tso chicken was decent, but needed more spice. Was more tangy and sweet than anything. Was very excited to try it given the reviews, but I should have read the 1 star reviews, because they are all just like mine. Would not recommend to anyone to wants anything more than a social gathering spot.
