Still one of my favorite restaurants in the entire US South, we went to the flagship in Ashville on our Honeymoon and this location did not disappoint! Slightly more casual atmosphere, but the service and food was still incredible and the price was also very reasonable!
We have been a number of times for brunch. Service is consistently good, and food is always on point. Their omelettes and grits are very tasty. I tried the morning mountain morning bowl which is a nice mix of all the breakfast things.
First time dining at Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen. I decided to go with the flat iron steak instead of one of the breakfast meals. It was a good steak but it didn't really grab my palate. I chose the mac & cheese and the brussel sprouts as my side. Both of these sides were good, but the brussel sprouts were the better of the two. All and all, it was a good meal but I cannot say that Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen is high on my list of 'I've got to eat there again'. There were definitely a few of the breakfast meals that I would try if I ever find myself dining here again. The employees were very friendly and personable.
Perfect southern comfort food restaurant. With southern hospitality, absolutely loved our waitress and her service! Fried chicken was perfectly fried, the fried okra was 10/10, had a blood Mary that was also excellent
I door dashed their meatloaf to my hotel room. I had Mac and cheese, and brussel sprouts for sides. I wish there was a way to give additional stars. It was lip smacking, toe tapping, finger licking good!
We had an amazing dining experience at Tupelo Honey in Raleigh! Our waitress, Katrina, was exceptional! She was attentive, friendly, and spot-on with her recommendations. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and they were absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned, and comforting. The lavender lemonade transported me back to summers in England, strolling through the lavender fields. I also grabbed the sweet potato pancakes to go, and I can’t wait to try them! My husband enjoyed the chicken BLT with potato skins, while my son had crispy chicken tenders with onion rings, and my daughter loved her mac and cheese with fried okra. Everything was well-prepared and full of flavor. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service made the experience even better. We’ll definitely be back!
Phenomenal experiences we had here. The atmosphere was amazing and smell good and clean. The waitress was very friendly and polite and knew what she was doing, when asked about the food. I wanted to tried the shrimps and grits my husband got the waffle and chicken. The food was spectacular the flavor for me was an explosion in my mouth. It was awesome most definitely will be coming back to Tupelo Honey when I visit NC again.
Great brunch spot in Raleigh. The food never disappoints and the servers are all friendly. Plan to spend about an hour here but it’s worth it with the drinks and food options. The shrimp and grits were so flavorful and the chicken had a kick but a sweet flavor. The appetizers were so yummy. We’ve never got a dish we did not like here. The mega mimosas are also delicious and even though they are pricey the regular mimosa isn’t much cheaper so I go with the larger option.
This is one of our favorite places to go for brunch whenever we are around one. The food is always different and amazing. We got the mountain bowl, I added chicken and some outstanding Sriracha honey absolutely wonderful as always.
Great atmosphere, great service, but I was underwhelmed with the Main famous meal, for a place named Tupelo honey southern kitchen, I was hoping to have Tupelo honey on my chicken. But nonetheless it was great!
If you're in North Carolina you're going to find fried chicken. And if you're really lucky you find Tupelo Honey fried chicken with bacon braised collards. The chicken I ordered came out steaming hot dusted with the slightly sweet hint of bee-dust, with a crock of these addictive collards with the perfect level of tanginess. The skin of the juicy dark thighs simply shattered when biting into it. The meal was so simple, but so delicious I wanted to order another plate! I settled on a slice of dark chocolate pecan pie to eat after I arrived at home. If I get a chance to go back, I would love to try the biscuits or maybe the brunch menu, but I'm a fried chicken devotee, so it will satisfy my senses to eat another plate.
My friends and I came here while on vacation from Ohio. We went there around 4 pm on a Wednesday and it wasn't busy at all. It was very clean and the staff were extremely friendly. We had friend okra, fried green tomatoes, biscuits, pan seared salmon, chicken tenders, as well as chicken and waffles. With the exception of the rosemary parmesean potatoes (good flavor but a bit too salty), all the food was good. I would highly recommend their lemonade as we tried the peach and matcha flavors. Shout out to our server Tate who did an excellent job serving us! For my fellow cup lovers: You can buy their glass cups if you ask 😉
We went for the first time today for a late lunch and oh my gosh it was amazing. The food was so, so good. My husband got the cast iron pork and I got the surf and turf— chef’s kiss. They had excellent drinks and deserts as well. Oh and don’t sleep on the fried green tomatoes! The service was also great. Our waitress was friendly and offered to take our picture! They even treated me with banana pudding for my birthday. All around, an amazing afternoon.
I'm pretty sure I've eaten at a Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen before. This one in Raleigh was nice. Good food amd service.
This is an all around great restaurant. The atmosphere is genuinely beautiful; the decor is cool and vintage. The service is top tier. They make good recommendations, they’re quick and informative. The food is always delicious, it’s fresh and hot. I will be a regular for sure, we’ve been here twice and it never disappoints!
We got the fried pickles to start and then the cast iron pork and the smothered chicken. We also got the cucumber lime cooler. So refreshing! Everything was amazing!!! My chicken was perfect and the cast iron pork was so flavorful. Our waiter was great too and very kind. We’ll be back! Parking is a 1 minute walk down the street to the right in an uncovered parking lot, but it has a sign that it’s for Tupelo Honey guests
Late post.. My daughter's took me for Mothers Day brunch and had an amazing time. The food was so good and also the service. We sat outside and it was so nice. The inside and outside were clean and decorated very nicely. I would definitely go again.
Tupelo Honey Was some of the best Chicken and waffles I’ve ever had! The food was great the size was perfect; looking at the proportions I thought it wouldn’t be enough but by the end I had half of the waffle and chicken left for later! I was a walk in with a one hour wait for two people so definitely recommend getting reservations instead but was still definitely worth the wait. The only thing I had to complain was waiting on the sever due to them being super busy but they made it up to us by providing handmade biscuits for us as an apology. Tupelo gets 5 big booms!
Lovely dining experience for tasty Southern eats. We like meeting and taking friends here, for the nice atmosphere and well-plated dishes. Service is always great, and you can never go wrong with the biscuits and desserts.
Our visit did not start off very impressive… We arrived about 15 minutes early for our 3 PM reservation and despite no less than eight tables within view of the front door that were empty, we still had to wait until our 3 PM reservation time. I don’t understand this, but our service from Karla and our excellent food made up for it. We had the pimento cheese appetizer & the Nashville hot chicken and mac & cheese waffles, Blackened shrimp and avocado po’ boy & Banana pudding creme brulee chicken & waffles & everything was delicious!! Karla was friendly and a great server!
Located in downtown Raleigh, a short drive from the NC fairgrounds, this restaurant is a foodie find. With unique bee aesthetics this quaint restaurant known for their honey dusted chicken won't disappoint. I had the classic chicken and waffles and the chicken melted in my mouth. Reservations may be needed. Call ahead to check. Walk-ins are sometimes accepted at the bar. If Hannah or Carla's working at the bar, they'll be sure to take good care of you. Ask about their souvenir glasses that come in 4 different icons.
Grabbed brunch with some friends and had a blast! I love the atmosphere of any southern chain, super warm and inviting. My waiter was super nice and very quick even with a full restaurant! Food took a little bit of time arriving, but honestly it’s expected for a packed restaurant. I ordered the strawberry and cream mimosa, and it’s pretty sweet! For the table we ordered the fried green tomatoes and it was the perfect choice! The green tomatoes arrive on a bed of buttery grits and you have to make sure that your bite is covered with it!
If you live for comfort food and brunch, this is the place to go!! Their chicken and waffles are incredible with crispy, juicy, well-seasoned chicken over a fluffy waffle with butter and syrup. I also ordered a side of mac and cheese, and it did not disappoint! It’s super rich, creamy, and loaded with cheese, with a crispy breadcrumb topping that adds the perfect crunch. The service is great, and the honey decor around the restaurant is so cute! NOTE: Reservations are not required but HIGHLY recommended on the weekends (we did not make a reservation and had to wait two hours). There’s a lot to walk around and do nearby to pass the time though, so don’t stress if you aren’t able to squeeze a reservation in on time!
I ate by myself this evening and it was not crowded for early dinner. My waitress Sarah was smiling and attentive. I ordered what I wanted and boy they did not disappoint! The fried pickles were thin and seasoned well, but the ranch I think was the star. The Mac and cheese waffles with the hot chicken…delicious. The milk gravy was just enough to keep it from getting dry. The house ginger beer had a kick to it which I loved. Couldn’t eat the banana pudding there but took a mini one home to enjoy later. Overall, a very good experience!
My friend took me to lunch at Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar in Raleigh for my birthday a few days ago. As always, the food was fantastic & our server, Sophie, was at the top of her game! Thanks - we'll be back! 🎉
Tupelo is everything Cracker Barrel wishes it could be. The food is perfectly southern, everything from fried chicken to sea food that you would expect from any place in the Southeast. Mac and Cheese that would make your mama cry, and potato fries crisped to perfection. The portions used to be adequate but have since become enormous. There is no way to leave this place hungr, even with just a single dish. Drinks are well crafted, with solid beer and wine options. Service is exactly what you would hope for. They are lively, always moving to make sure everyone has a full drink and orders are in. The interior is well decorated keeping in style with southern atmosphereit is trying to capture. Comfortable seating with well apportioned booths. I would highly recommend Tupelo to anyone looking for nice Southern meal, with the welcoming service to boot.
I ended a lovely visit to my cousin with an early lunch at Tupelo Honey. She ordered the sweet potato pancakes (amazing!), and I ordered the chicken and waffles with a peach compote and candied pecans (delicious!). The hostess was very welcoming. We had the pleasure of having Ian as our waiter. He was an absolute delight and provided outstanding service. We will definitely come back! Thank you for making my visit with my cousin extra special!
We had a great experience this past Sunday at Tupelo. we were seated pretty quickly. We got to order biscuits, two chicken sandwiches and couple of drinks and a mud pie for dessert - which was really great. Overall a great spot. Service was fantastic and very place for a date.
Came here NYE with my family after iso iso closed their kitchen at 7:30 and our server was so funny and chatksmatic but also just a great server. I got the southern hospitality mimosa- delicious omg and the chicken tender tray with 3 sauces- the chipotle mayo was a bit too spicy for me and the honey mustard was very much Dijon and horseradish which I did not care for, breading was very seasoned but overall p good. Fries were perfect !! Crispy and also soft my favorite cut of fry 🥰
Nice ambience and great service. I had the buttermilk fried chicken tenders with a side of chicken poblano soup. The tenders had great texture but could have been seasoned better - they didn't have enough salt. On the other hand, the chicken poblano was scrumptious - it stole the show.
Updated to reflect a visit on 8/23/2025. I left just as hungry as when I arrived! The shrimp and grits had changed. There was literally separated grease in the grits(image shown), which tasted nothing like the first time I had it. Save your time and avoid this. I replaced it with the potato pancake my friend had already received. It was delicious. On the other hand, mine was undercooked and mushy(image shown). My bacon, which I had asked not to be crispy, was as if I had asked for extra crispy. I didn't want to return another item, so I called it a loss. The best thing I had was the Iced Mocha. This is a must-visit location. The shrimp and grits meal was delicious. Sadly, a friend had a fried chicken sandwich that appeared to be overcooked. A second friend had chicken and waffles. She enjoyed her meal as well. We ordered overcooked biscuits, as they were hard and crumbly while eating. However, a table within eyesight received some cooked biscuits, as they should have been from what we could see. The blueberry jelly was delicious. Our server was unattentive. She was busy, but all her tables, maybe eight, were in the same area. It was like she purposefully avoided eye contact when in the area. We had to call her verbally on every occasion or ask another waiter. My friend asked for Mayo, and receiving it took 15 minutes or more. Meanwhile, her sandwich was getting cold. I would go back. However, there are areas of improvement: food quality and customer service.
Decent American food. The hamburgers look great. The fried chicken and waffles weren't the best. I prefer a crispy dark Belgian waffle, but it was soggy. The fried chicken was on the soggy side as well, very soft and not well fried at all. The sauces were all excellent, and the children's menu chicken tenders were some of the best I've ever tried, super dark and crispy. Great sides, I can definitely recommend their macaroni and cheese.
First of all, the mac & cheese chicken and waffles was delicious! I ordered the mountain morning bowl but was unaware of the cilantro in the dish. As someone with a cilantro sensitivity, I had to swap with my significant other for his chicken and waffles dish and he enjoyed the mountain morning bowl instead. If you’re someone who has a sensitivity to cilantro, be aware that it is very present in that bowl (although not listed in the ingredients for it). It was also our first time trying grits so I don’t have anything to compare them to, but they were very good and the goat cheese was a nice touch. Otherwise, the food and service was great. Cute brunch spot.
Biscuits For A Cause were so fresh and delicious you can taste that they are homemade. Add the whipped butter and grape jelly puts them over the top!! Honey White Meat - Fried Chicken made the crust sweet with a little bite of spice. Also kept the meat nice and moist. Got 5 little crispy potatoes that were WAY too salty. The food was fresh and delicious but the small portion sizes will make me think twice before ordering. $30.00 is a lot for what I received and compared to all the southern fried chicken competition in the area. • 2025-03-18 Biscuits For A Cause are so fresh and amazing that they keep me ordering from this location!! Chicken Caesar Salad was good but it seemed small for the price compared to the competition. Caesar dressing was very salty. Ease up on the salt guys…..
We had a fun experience at Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen. The food was good and the menu had a fun twist on a lot of the items. Overall, everything was delicious and we'd give it another try. The waffles were light and airy and didn't get soggy under the fried chicken. The smash Burger was another winner. The meatloaf, however was subpar but the script potatoes saved the day.
Vibey spot for Sunday brunch! I came here with my friends after a concert. We made a reservation for 10am, 8 people. When we arrived, we waited about 10 min for our table and were seated in the far back by the bar. This place is definitely trendy with lots of fun, chic designs/decor. We all ordered a variety of food/drinks - coffee, cream sodas, cold brews, omelets, chicken and waffles, etc. I had the strawberry cream soda and avocado sunrise scramble, added bacon. I enjoyed my meal - the cream soda was a nice way to wake up without resorting to hair of the dog. I didn't realize the scramble came with chips - I would have subbed out for hash browns or tots if I had read the menu more carefully. I think it could have used a bit more seasoning, but on the whole, a pleasant and tasty meal. Our server was a bit all over the place and disappeared for some spells. Polite and friendly enough though, just not overly so. I can see why people enjoy brunch here - I would come back for that again and I would also be interested in trying their dinner menu too.
It wasn't busy at all. Our waitress was nice, chill and very attentive! I ordered the sweet and spicy chicken sandwich with the perfectly cooked brussel sprouts! The chicken sandwich was ok but had to get ranch to cut down the spiciness. My husband ordered the smashed burger with the delicious crispy fries. I definitely will be returning to try the breakfast in the future.
Thoroughly enjoyed all the unique food options, but the Mimosa flight feel flat in both flavor and execution. The service was excellent and we absolutely loved atmosphere! *The avocado toast was very off putting due to the Sriracha honey simply because it made a savory breakfast item too sweet. Without the honey, it was great.
Went on a weekend...super busy, had to wait. The waiting area was cute with interesting art work. Hosts were busy and preoccupied. The clientele looked very diverse. We got a window seat with two people tiny table, a work of wooden art, yet so tiny if you order two items and two drinks, I had to put some items on floor and window sill. The lady waiting on her was super nice, warm and understanding and goes out of her way kind. The food was greasy, large amounts and goat cheese items, fried pickles ideas were out of this world. Love the concept of experimental drinks. Parking is limited and we had to walk a distance across the street to reach the place. The ambiance was cheerful with good lights, unique arts and kind of cooler temperature for a cold day. I would say once must try place.....
I had heard good things about Tupelo Honey. The service was good, the waiter was witty and attentive, the restaurant was clean and the walls were covered in Southetn Modern. The food was plentiful if average. We were there for lunch and chose items from the Between the Bread menu. The sweet and spicy chicken sandwich was a little under cooked. My friend liked his onion and whiskey smashed burger. We will return to try the Southern entrees at a later date.
The Bloody Mary is quite tasty, with a yummy salted rim. I tried fried okra and I liked it, and the accompanying sauce was zingy and just the right heat. The roasted brussel sprouts are terrific, with a sweet caramelization that hit just right. The parking is tough, especially for handicapped folks, so be mindful for accessibility.
Food here was okay; fried green tomatoes were good, chicken was disappointing but the waffle was good, fried chicken was also mediocre. Happy hour was nice though, we liked the cocktail options. The service and atmosphere were both good, the restaurant was comfortable and the servers were attentive.
The service was Fabulous from the Hostess to the waitress!! Very patient and helpful. We enjoyed the atmosphere and environment. We drove an hour and a half for the restaurant:) I wanted to love the biscuits so bad but they were too salty. It tasted a little better once you added honey or the delicious blueberry jam. My husband had the tasty Asheville hot chicken and waffles! 😋 I chose the shrimp and grits (A favorite/go to choice at my restaurants) While they look tasty the flavor was not there at all :( 3.5/10. I tried adding salt/pepper.. I feel it’s missing more seasonings. It was very bland all I could taste was goat cheese from the grits.. the food came out fast. But oddly the food was lukewarm not hot or like it was just cooked. This was not our first time here but hopefully we will visit again soon!
Loved this location, the parking was about a half block away but not inconvenient. The food was lightly seasoned but overall decent. Service was good.
It pains me to say after years of eating here that I have to make yesterday my last visit. My husband and I come here often, normally for chicken and waffles. In the last year things have been slowly/randomly changing and not for the better. Once it was the Mac and cheese that are now made with huge noddles and a creamier cheese which wasn’t better than the previous version but still not bad. Yesterday it was less cheese and a strong garlic flavor, so it has gotten worse. My go to order was the Asheville Hot Mac & Cheese waffle which isn’t on the menu anymore. Then the chicken for the chicken and waffles went from 2 thighs to 1 breast which was dry and changed the entire taste of the meal. Yesterday I opted for the bone-in original chicken which is normally good but was super salty yesterday. Our server took it back and brought back more which was pretty much the same. My husband grits were cold. The server said the changes are from corporate so there is no way around them. So unfortunate because this was my favorite brunch spot.
Had a reservation, waited several minutes for someone to seat us. Upon being seated we were advised there would be a wait before someone could take our order. After about 10 minutes someone brought over water & asked about drinks. We ordered bar drinks & waited for those for an additional 15 or 20 minutes. It wasn’t until about 35 minutes after our actual reservation that someone finally took our food order. I will say the food came out quicker than we expected after waiting for such a long time just to get someone to take our order. The food was fine, but nothing exceptional. That being said, the food is not good enough to carry the inadequacy of the service.
Calling this fried chicken is diabolical… I recommend bojangles for better flavor and crispiness if looking for chicken. The bartender also couldn’t give a care in the world about doing her job. Also a psa to our POC’s they won’t treat you very well! Why are we shoving plates across? be sure to bring someone with you if you do visit :)
Horrible experience all around. There was a deal buy one get one brunch. We had a party of 3. We had a reservation and waited 10 minutes after our time to be seated. Once seated, there were no utensils or cups. We were not addressed for 15 minutes and then our waitress came over finally and said nobody’s helped you guys yet? Let me do it. The whole time the waitress was more worried about her large table than serving us. We asked for napkins. Did not get them after asking twice. Ordered 2 Moscow mules and one of them had a fly in it. Thinking it was a once off thing we had her bring us another one. The next one had 2 flys in it. We asked her to take back both of the drinks because clearly something at the bar was contaminated and didn’t feel comfortable drinking anything else from there. If I was a waitress, regardless of whether or not I was preparing the drinks, I would make sure that the drink I bring back was not worse than the first. She was worried about making sure we knew she didn’t make it. Ordered an appetizer which was the only thing that came out warm and was actually tasty. We had to ask another server to finally get some napkins. It took 90 minutes from the time we sat down before receiving our meals. The waitress kept saying she was checking on our food and she saw it coming out right now and then 20 minutes later still no food. By the time it actually came out, it was all cold. Ordered steak and eggs and it was cold to touch and she offered to reheat it. We asked that we get a new one because fried eggs and steak in the microwave is unacceptable. The waitress apologized and said she would have the manager take of the meal and come over. The manager never came to talk to us. Its the least that could’ve been done for all the inconveniences. The chicken and waffles and the burger we ordered was also cold, but everyone was so hungry that they just ate it. In the end the bug drinks were comped, and the steak meal was comped. We had come for buy one get one free so it ended up the same price in the end by removing the one meal.
UPDATE Jan 12: I sent an email to the email address provided by the owner in the response to my review and have yet to receive any reply to it and it has been a week since I sent it. Service was horrible. We waited for 20 plus minutes for our food and watched another table of 2 receive their food before us when they arrived after us. Our server, Karla disappeared most of the time and seemed completely unbothered when we asked how much longer it would take to be served. 5 minutes later someone else appeared with our food but my order was wrong and half of my husband's meal was cold We had to wait again for her to appear to tell her about it. In addition, the biscuits we ordered were terribly salty. She finally brought my potatoes which looked like hash browns and when I told her that was not what I ordered she said "oh, they changed the recipe". The potatoes had no hint of rosemary nor parmesan. The quality of my entire meal was subpar and the service was worse. I will add that the restaurant was not busy so there was no excuse for the delays in her serving us. We have eaten here many times and never had an issue with the food nor the service. We won't bother to come back after this experience.
Not a great experience at all. Server was very slow to greet us and get our drink order and didn’t come back to ask how our food was or if we needed more drinks. Bacon wasn’t cooked done. Bathroom wasn’t clean. The restaurant in Myrtle Beach is really nice and that’s why we decided to eat at the one in Raleigh but will definitely not be returning.
