Opinions de Sushi Garden Rancho Del Mar
Friday night out with the kids! The children’s bento box is extremely generous. My son was thrilled. My daughter enjoyed her salad and her roll. The service was a bit spotty.
What a pleasant surprise!!! I was driving from Watsonville back to San Jose and was hit hard with lunch time hunger. I made a last minute decision to exit the 101. I pulled into this shopping center and stumbled upon this restaurant. I had no expectations and was going in completely blind. Upon entering, I was greeted by a very friendly hostess. She said that I could pick anywhere to sit. I almost sat outside in the patio area but instead I elected to sit at the sushi bar so I can watch some sports on the TVs behind the bar. The server was very pleasant and brought me a glass of water and complimentary edamame. I thought to myself: so far so good. I decided on the lunch combo with three entrees. My selections were Tuna Sashimi, Salmon Nigiri and Salmon Teriyaki. Along with an a la cart order for a Salmon skin hand roll. When the food arrived I was surprised at the quality and presentation. The combo was $22 but I paid an extra $6 for the nigiri and sashimi. The salmon hand roll was $10. The meal also included miso soup. Overall everything was excellent and tasted VERY fresh. And for the price the portion was very nice. I highly recommend this place if and when you’re in the Aptos area. Two gigantic thumbs up for this hidden gem.
I keep going back for lunch and dinner and I'm very picky. Consistent high quality Japanese food every time. Super nice waitstaff as well. The bento boxes are overflowing with tasty items at reasonable prices. We always get a table or place too. Parking is excellent. Nice views of the forest beyond and your car if you want to keep an eye on your bike rack or something in the truck bed. Windows all around and high a ceiling for good airflow tvs too with sports..Easy, convenient, and enjoyable. Only pic is of the soft shelled crab my friend had sorry..I was to busy chowing my bento. Check it out. Thank you
Great service, super friendly staff. Good prices. And amazing food. Super fresh and yummy. Beautiful presentation! I will definitely go again!
Every time I am in town this is my go to sushi place! I highly suggest the Eternal Sunshine and Rio Del Roll along with the White Peach Sake! I’ve never been disappointed with my order.
We had bento meals with combination tempura and sushi varieties.
Why is this location better than the Watsonville one? Different cooks? Not sure why, but lunch was delicious on Saturday. Had the 3 choice Bento box lunch special with chicken teriyaki, tonkatsu and Veggie tempura.
Very good sashimi and service is excellent Just a little louder than usual for lunch Fresh always
They have some decent vegan options. The teriyaki tofu (with cucumber salad), avocado cucumber roll, and slug roll (seaweed and mushroom) are all really good. Nice outdoor seating area. Enclosed, with lights, radiant heaters, and screens that can be raised or lowered on request.

Great food and wonderful service. Sashimi was so fresh and I also enjoyed the extra salty adamani and the Perfectly prepared tempura!
Busy, but so worth the wait!! There's a reason why they are so busy. Everything was super beautiful and tasty!
I had an incredible dining experience at Sushi Garden. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The sushi was absolutely top-notch – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The variety of rolls offered was impressive, and each bite was a delightful combination of textures and tastes. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. I especially loved their signature roll – a perfect balance of flavors that I’ll be craving for weeks to come. If you're looking for authentic, high-quality sushi in a cozy setting, this is the place to be. Highly recommend!
I’ve been to this restaurant about 5 times now and I always have a pleasant experience! I’m pretty picky with my sushi — Sushi here tastes really good and fresh. The plates come out looking very beautiful. Nice attention to detail. I’ve always have great experience with the service. They also have really specials so check out their special board when you’re here. Chill atmosphere - not a fine dining vibe but definitely great for family friends or a date. Lots of sake selection too!!!
Always a good place for lunch. The portions are really good and the menu is big. The selection is solid and I've enjoyed everything they've served. I often order the udon. The tempura has a ton of breading which some people love so this might be perfect for you. I really like how crispy it is but I find it heavy. I also being my toddler here and he loves the food. Inside and outside seating available. Not a great place to bring a dog but you could sit outside with them if you want to.

Great food! Great service! The pictures don’t do the place justice either… it’s a very clean and modern location inside. Portions are very large and good quality so they definitely make up for the prices! Definitely planing to come here again when we’re in the area

I was very suspicious of this place. The location in a strip mall and because of the multiple locations. (is it a chain?) I also prefer Japanese owned sushi restaurants but I'm Soooo happy we decided to eat here. Pros: Great atmosphere, high ceilings, big TVs with sports on, comfortable seating, great view of the sushi chefs, clean bathrooms, excellent sushi/sashimi, nice staff, $20 off your bill on your birthday (super generous), ice cold beer in frozen glasses, big salad with creamy goma dressing (this sesame dressing is as good as my wife's!) complimentary edamame, good tempura. Cons: The tempura dipping sauce is completely wrong, ruins the tempura. They use the same sauce for their Age Dashi Tofu and it's also completely wrong. Also the tofu pieces should be larger and softer, the contrast of the soft tofu and the crunchy coasting with the slightly sweet umami sauce makes Age Dashi Tofu one of my favorites. Their teriyaki sauce is mostly corn starch. (I lived and cooked in Japan for years and the sauces are so important and not hard to master so I know you can do it.) The bowls for their Chirashi Don are too heavy and clunky and they should give a little more sushi rice. Having said all this the Chirashi Don is still excellent. This is a great sushi place in a convenient location if you are in Aptos. We will be coming back.
The environment is very cozy, the fish is fresh, though the dishes were served a bit slowly.
The food is good. Having a busy evening affected the level of service, overall good value for the money, food is fresh, generous portions -

Good sushi place. Few offerings that are not sushi...so if you have one person who doesn't do sushi...look eleswhere

Giant sushi. Super large, thick slabs of fish compared to most sushi restaurants I've been to. This explains the high prices. I'm not a big fan of huge slices of fish. I prefer bite-sized for less money so I can try more variety of fish. This is just my preference. If you want giant sushi and rolls, then this is your spot. The rest of the food is yummy also.
Got a salmon roll and I’m not sure what happened here but doesn’t look like much effort went into this. Flavor was fine but completely falling apart and sloppy. What a bummer.
I typically eat at the Capitola sushi garden, which never disappointed, but this time I decided to eat at the Aptos so she Garden I ordered sashimi bento box. I was pretty hungry so I drove them to the sashimi which was a disappointment. I noticed when I picked it up it was not thinly sliced but cubed in accordion fashion and also it had the sticky stuff on it. I don’t know. I ate it anyhow and it honestly it didn’t taste fresh. I should’ve sent it back right away but like I mentioned, I was starving The salmon or tuna. I don’t know what it was. It didn’t taste fresh either. I asked the waitress about it and told her how I didn’t like the way the sashimi was cut and she asked me to act next time asked for it to be thinly sliced which after a while I thought about this and I thought that was a lot common for her to make since the chef should know how to cut sashimi. I am continuing to find an email to complain to them, but I can’t find it in order they have it listed, but I will not return. Thank you.
