A very cute local cafe! Very warm and welcoming and their coffee was so good! There are lots of options for coffee and pastries also breakfast!(sandwiches and bagels). There’re plenty of seats indoor and outdoor! It’s easy to street parking here!
This is absolutely, hands down, the best cafe I have ever been in. The atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing. They have a very homely feel to them. There are tables with chairs but also couches for comfort. The music was a jazz and very much matching the environment. The selection of food and drinks they offer is surprisingly large. I definitely recommend this place. The scones and tea were absolutely delicious. The staff were very polite. I will definitely be returning to this business and I suggest you go enjoy it as well.
Always a good experience whenever I stop by. The Staff are friendly, the food is tasty, and the drinks are delicious (I typically get a large drink and that satisfies me throughout the day). The atmosphere of the restaurant is inviting and - although I have not made it to one yet - I have heard the events held at Taste Budd's are always interesting. Stop by when you can; you will enjoy it.
This was an amazing place for lunch! Staff was friendly, food was tasty and drinks were great. Lots of vegetarian options!
Lovely place to stop for great desserts. Not a lot of gluten free options but the ones they have are delicious. And their giant macarons were very tasty.
This place is always welcoming and the workers are so nice I come here to relax after a stressful day
Taste Budd’s is just good. All around. I love it here.
Haven't been in years. Did not disappoint! Msc and cheese- phenomenal Get a brownie, they're the. GOAT They're what started it all.
Great vibes! Great food! Great local spot!
This has always been one of my favorite places in the area! Great community atmosphere, food, beverages. Good, clean, interesting, and fun food. Of course, those great dessert bars!!
Yummy cafe in town. Nice music and comfy seating.
Coffee is amazing. Try the blackout bar you wont regret it
I am a frequent flyer at Taste Budds! The food is awesome and is able to adjust to food allergies like celiac. The food is fresh and unique. I brought my 9 year old grand girl Everly yesterday. We had a great time and she loved her M and M fudge brownie@
We love Taste Budd’s! The Falaffel Bowl is my fav. The unicorn cookie is one of the best cookies I’ve ever had. All of the pastry items are so delicious and fun to try. Can’t wait to go back and try a fancy drink and fudge. Both indoor and outdoor seating areas are nice and casual.
We are an office of 11 people with a variety of diet and other food restrictions, but at Taste Budd's Cafe we are all able to get something, which is made with love and excellent ingredients. The staff is friendly and helpful. The vibe when we eat in their dining room is hip with art and tons of natural light. In addition, the outdoor seating is second to none here in Red Hook. Try Taste Budd's Cafe today, you won't be disappointed.
It's a great place to spend time drinking coffee while working or do whatever you want to do. I liked the falafel wrap I ordered but I think it could have been better.
Finally a decent cafe in the Hudson valley. I liked the breakfast burrito and the cocoa chiller. Looking forward to coming back sometime!
Came here for the first time. Will definitely be coming back. Really cute place, excellent service, nice people, lovely atmosphere. Enjoyed sitting outside in the garden. Recommend the chipotle bowl with the crispy chicken. The flourless chocolate cake and latte were excellent, too.
Stopped here for a quick grab-and-go breakfast on a Sunday morning. Located near the center of the town, parking is fairly easy to find. Cafe has a nice funky boho-ish vibe. They have a decent selection of coffees and a wide variety of food options for breakfast/brunch & lunch. We got a couple of coffees to go and a BLT sandwich. Total came to about $18. The cafe looked like a nice place to come up and get some work done in peace.
Super chill atmosphere. The owner has chill vibes and probably meddies with the jewelry store owners. They're all super chill. Food is amazing or whatever. Come eat here, or whatever. Beck yeah! Yum. Where's my shoes?
I recently discovered their bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches, on gluten free bread (which is not always easy to find), and loved it! Was craving one today, so decided to treat myself. It was so delicious! I love their soups this time of year too! So hearty, healthy, and delicious!
Excellent cafe food with a very calming and comfortable atmosphere. Servers bring food out to table and place drinks onto the stand next to the order area. They have comfortable couches and a nice patio area for outside dining. Recommend bringing some friends or a partner here to have a good time. Although it's a great place to unwind and relax by yourself as well.
Really cool place. Enjoyed it. Nice art throughout. Comfy couches. Great muffins. What’s not to like??
Food is excellent! Awesome gluten free options!! Absolutely love this place!
My husband and I have been coming here for 14 years. He First pick this place because I love coffee and fudge. But we come at least three times a year and the sandwiches and wraps are amazing. They’re fresh fruit. Coffee is amazing and all of their sweets are.
Cute and quirky coffee shop/bakery/candy place. Very sweet and very nice place, baked goods and coffee drinks were a cut above.
**Just a warning they are only selling food until 4pm for the time being because they are unstaffed. Sadly I drove 25 mins before finding out :( But I do really enjoy their mac n cheese and their staff is nice.
Avocado melt, of swiss cheese, tomato on housemade focaccia & pesto sandwich was good. Tasty pesto. Turkey, goat cheese, fig glaze, sliced apple, with caramelized onions on caibatta bread, hit the spot! Little disappointed in pecan tartlet filling & crust. Large coconut/ chocolate macaroon for 3.99, kept me happy for 2 days!! Would love to try their expansive selection of truffles & bakery items! Enjoyed sitting outside among the flowers.
wonderful experience here-- fudge is amazing and every flavor was great!! Workers were super nice and helpful in choosing a selection, and my friends and I are thankful. kinda pricey, but honestly, if you love fudge and/or a quality sweet treat with a wonderful local cafe vibe, this is the place for you
So nice - I asked about coffee and was cheerfully offered taste of the different blends!! For gluten free folks it’s great!!!
Came in after my first Walk with the Bridge Club(every Wednesday at 7am on the Dutchess Side we walk across the Kingston/Rhinecliff Bridge and greet the sunrise)I got a lovely travel mug for my next walk. I encourage everyone to come out in the coming weeks it was exhilarating.
Ordered from door dash. First time getting a couple different things. Wow. Amazing! I’ll be back for sure!
One of my favorite cafes in Red Hook. The perfect environment to grab a coffee with a friend or do some work in the corner!
One of my favorite places! Always so warm and cozy, and the food is always great!
This was the best place on earth the staff were so nice and I learned how to ski there!
Every time I go into Taste Budd’s it’s feels like a micro-retreat from the circus of life. The staff are always chill and friendly, the ambience is delightful and cozy, and the food and confections are so comforting and delicious. Love the whimsical and cheeky names of some of the desserts, and so glad they provide a space for open mics!
Open Mic Night every Thursday 7 - 8:30, so fun!
I always stop in when I visit my son in Germantown and its always good---good food, good environment, good service. Today, I had the pleasure of ordering a cake with Chris--what a great customer experience!
It’s a funky, casual place with an easy vibe. I loved my tuna melt and my sister loved her curried chicken salad. Very nice staff and good atmosphere.
Whether you are hungry , need an expresso or looking for dessert I highly recommend Taste Budds in Red Hook NY . It is fantastic
I love their BLT's on GF bun. The best gluten free buns around!
Such a good place to go and get some work done. Great atmosphere with delicious food and excellent service all around. Everyone was so nice a friendly as well.
Love Taste Buds. They have great vegan options, excellent specialty drinks, and their staff is kind, thoughtful, and fun. I would highly recommend!
Taste Budds is fantastic. I love their coffee, fudge, and breakfast burritos. Great location and vibe! Definitely recommend
Smells like a freshly poured cup of coffee! Attractive display of baked goods and tempting scones! Lunch was delicious. Staff were friendly and engaged.
Today was a nice fall day to have a chai latte and sweet treat. The service was excellent and they took the time to tell us what ingredients were in certain items. Super helpful!
Lovely cafe! The woman who was working at the counter was so genuinely kind and helpful
Service is the best! Servers are so sweet! Food is phenomenal plus they have good gf and vegan options!
The energy there is uplifting and they play good music. Staff are always friendly and helpful. I really enjoy the egg and cheese sandwiches on their homemade rolls. The bread is soft and cheese oozy.
Awesome little cafe with pastries, house made chocolates, full coffee menu, salads, wraps and more right in a cute town! The staff serves with a smile and is very helpful. Everything is fresh. If you like iced lattes but always want a larger size this place is for you as they have a 32oz that is a little over $8. Specialty and seasonal flavors are available in all sizes. They do have a slight charge if using card vs cash.
Taste Buds is a very delightful place. The staff are friendly, kind folks who wait patiently while we all try to decide which one of their amazing lunches to order. It is cozy inside and, in nice weather, a treat to sit outside by the flowers. It is one of my favorite places.
Friendly, warm atmosphere, esp. on a snowy day. It took alittle longer than most days, but I'm sure they were short staffed because of the weather. I'm just soooo glad they were open (some other places stayed closed.), & my food is delicious!
This is my favorite coffee house—period! They have amazing beverages, excellent food and incredible desserts! I’m gluten free, and one of the best desserts they sell: the Red Hooker, is something I can eat! Love the owners of this shop, and the community of customers who hang out here.
Even since I started working in Red Hook, Taste Budd's has been my morning spot before work and/or lunch spot on my break. The food is amazing and the service is top tier. ESPECIALLY Zoey and her impeccable latte art. She made a star one time on my latte...or a snowflake. I couldn't tell but it's the thought that counts. This just goes to show the lengths the staff at taste Budd's would go to offer an amazing experience. I have not had a negative experience with any of the staff. Whether it was dining in or take out. Great vibes all around.
Everything about this place is amazing, I went yesterday and got a mocha latte and something I sadly forgot the name of. But it was amazing! I would recommend grabbing a bite to eat here if you ever visit! The atmosphere is also very comfy, it makes me feel nice and warm everytime I enter! 10/10 would come again
I often meet my friends here for lunch. The atmosphere is relaxed with a mixed clientele of young families, college students, retirees and others. You can sit as long as you’d like to chat with friends or business associates, work on a laptop, play board games, or read a book.
Great place, I go there more regularly than any other cafe. The drinks are so satisfying, i loce the hot tumeric chai and the world-famous purple palmer. The food is delicious, I love the soups and wraps. I have celiac disease, and this is by far the easiest place to orxer that isn't gluten-free dedicated. And the staff is so lovely and capable and helpful.
I needed WiFi for two meetings as I travel down the Taconic Parkway. I took a chance at exit 67 going south and drove about 10 minutes to an oasis! Great atmosphere! Great coffee! Great food! And a super staff. I wanted to know more about the place and the town and asked a guy who had been planting flowers thinking he was a landscaper. He was the owner, Dan Budd! A very nice guy who gave me the whole story, explained how close CIA is, and that he is a chef. This place is his dream. Check out Red Hook and check out Taste Budd’s!
A place you hope to find in a small college town. A place to enjoy some peaceful time alone or with friends. A great selection of coffee, and teas. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Something for everyone. Fresh baked goods, pastries, salads. I liked the BEC on a croissant and cranberry scone. So much to choose from. A relaxing atmosphere a good selection of music playing quietly, or bring you own music. Sit on a couch with friends or select a table and plug in to some power and wifi to get some work done or surf. Nice people, and a great staff. On street free parking.
What a gem this place is! When walking up to the shop, I was captivated by the beautiful garden, trellis, and patio. The interior is spacious with a guitar theme on one wall and local eclectic art everywhere else. There are so many treats to choose from- New York cheesecake, macaroons, muffins, cookies, scones, fudge. All looks professionally made and delicious. I went with the magic cookie bar and it did not disappoint! I’m from Colorado and always visit this coffee shop when visiting family in upstate New York. It’s quaint, friendly, make you feel right at home.
As someone that works virtually I enjoy visiting different cafes and coffee shops around the country. This little privately owned cafe in the small quaint village of Redhook New York has become a second home. The atmosphere is comfy and inviting, the staff friendly and courteous. The coffee is free trade and the treats…well, you’ll have to find out for yourself. My Personal favorite is the vegan nut bar, It almost sounds healthy even though it taste anything but. And if you are someone who works virtually I encourage you to stop and have a coffee and grab a table and stay a while 5 stars only because that’s the highest I can go on here
Really enjoyed the golden tofu tempura poppers! The only thing that would make it even more fantastic is adding more veggies, like grated carrots or cucumbers, to the lettuce. Happy to see more vegan options. Thank you 😊
I had a lovely Opera cake. This was a busy place with a local vibe. There was a set up of couches for lounging which was inviting. The truffles looked amazing and they obviously do a huge take out business. It was a bit cold however and a bit sticky around.
My friend and I have come once for lunch and most recently for coffee. I love the variety of coffee flavors, a switch from the ordinary flavors you can find anywhere. I tried a pistachio coffee. Their blueberry crumbe muffins are amazing! So moist and flavorful.
Delightful snacks, massive drink menu and a delicious breakfast sandwich. My only reason for 4/5 stars is they have Harney & Sons tea which just isn’t a good brand. Otherwise everything was wonderful!
nice country style store, with healthy natural style groceries and produce side, and breakfast/lunch eat-in side. They also sell locally roasted coffee, with all roasts, including light! ,which I bought . Friendly helpful staff
Your big limit is space. For instance, one comfy area. Usually, when I go, there is a group of people sitting in the comfy area. Not inviting for one or two people to read or enjoy a conversation.
Great long standing cafe in Red Hook. Friendly staff and a big varied menu. Lots of veggie and a few vegan options. Decent coffee but I usually get a drip coffee so can’t comment on the barista drinks. Fairly busy but usually easy to get a table. Lots of purple.
I ordered to lemonades without ice because they are SOOO good. Christina made my drinks and asked the kind worker who cashed me out “Without ice?? UGH thats like a half gallon!”. I thought it was very distasteful and rude. Will no longer go there if she is working.
Been to Budd’s once before when I first moved to the Hudson Valley and I loved it! The food was amazing, service was great, atmosphere cool. Took someone who’s also moving to the area earlier today and while they were content, I was disappointed. The service was okay - the woman who helped me at the register was nice enough but didn’t seem to care to be there. The girl who helped him after was very friendly. I ordered a small almond milk latte and it was unfortunately the worst i’ve ever had - it was scalding hot and the milk was burned and not steamed/foamed properly (I’ve been a barista for 10 years). I ended up throwing it out after only taking a couple sips cause it was so hot and just not right. The girl who brought my order out first was in way too much of a hurry for the vibe of the cafe at that time. We both had our hands full, mine with our personal belongings and his carrying a baby. She just put our food down on a dirty table and walked away rather than waiting for us to get situated where we wanted or offering to clean the table first. Expecting customers to clean their own tables is also a bit much especially during such a slow time. When I took the utensils wrapped in napkins out of the basket, I realized they had placed the bundle directly into the sauce cup so they were useless. Just seemed very rushed and careless. The food was great - the baby loved the mac and cheese. I was going to get another drink before leaving but decided against it as not to risk paying to be disappointed a second time. I’ll definitely be back but hope for the better service and quality I initially experienced next time.
Food was good, but nothing about it stood out. We ordered sandwiches and a coffee cake, but the girl who took our order never gave us the coffee cake. There were quite a few gnats or large fruit flies buzzing around while we ate, which was surprising for mid-November, which made me wonder about the kitchen conditions. Seemed like a nice place for a student hangout/study spot and probably weekend live music nights.
I have to say i was really disappointed with my take out today. I had ordered the stissing oatmeal to go for my brunch (its one of my favorite breakfast items) and that was it. After ordering it took 20 minutes for my order to come out while the people who ordered after me kept getting their orders. I was being very patient since they were pretty busy but it was just oatmeal. After getting it, it was very watery and i ended up tossing it. So i ended up wasting 20 mins for inedible food. Im giving 3 stars because i understand we have off days and id like to give another chance but i was very disappointed.
The coffee and food is awesome, and some of the people seem nice, but If also encountered someone at the counter who seemed like she'd rather be anywhere else. I mean, girl, same...but it's your job. Don't make people feel like they're doing something wrong by ordering at the shop you work at. My main complaint is how long orders can take. I ordered online over the weekend, it was just two lattes and two muffins, and I go in there 25 mins after I placed the order for it to still not be ready. I ended up waiting 40 mins total for that. Idk if weekends are just stupid busy there, but it's not a place worth going out of my way for again. I'd heard good things and was kind of just annoyed by the experience.
I’ve been going to Taste Budd’s for a few years, now and then. I was there recently, it was definitely an ‘off’ day (late on a Sunday morning) and I have to say the service and atmosphere were terrible. There were 4 employees, 3 of whom clearly didn’t want to be there, being rude to each other and seemingly not understanding the concept of customer service, and 1 who actually smiled and was polite and stayed away from the other 3. The cashier was snarly, muttering in a low voice and then rolling her eyes and acting like something is wrong with us that we couldn’t hear her. The minimum tip % that shows up is 18%. (I know one can give less or give a flat amount, but 18% in a fast casual restaurant that is largely self-service is quite high.) Our drinks were left on the front table, unannounced (or perhaps the inaudible one placed them there and we didn’t hear her) and when I asked if they were my drinks a small drama occurred, “I don’t know, I didn’t make the drinks” and other such nonsense was said until the nice one helped us out. The nice one is also the one who brought us our food. She seemed to be running the place solo. I don’t mind bussing dishes, but to now ask/expect/require customers to clean their table is far too much, especially when the minimum suggested tip is 18% and the service is as I've describe. I noted it wasn’t busy that day. I’ll try Taste Budd’s again for eating in, but if it’s like that again then I’ll do takeout only. Maybe others are doing the same. A person with authority to direct other employees should be on duty, and employees shouldn’t be snarly with customers because they partied much the night before and don’t want to be there working. I know that it’s hard to hire good people and I make allowances, but dealing with such attitude and then being expected to clean my table after leaving 18% tip isn’t reasonable. (We of course weren’t thanked for the tip.)
Unfortunately this place has really gone downhill. Think they have really let this place go over the yrs. I used to go there yrs ago & it was great. This past time the food was horrible. We were going to bring dessert home after lunch but after seeing how bad the food was I decided against it. It also wasn't the cleanest & that includes the bathrooms. Hope they can bring it back up to par.
