What a lovely little place we discovered. It was around us when we stopped on our way to London so we gave it a go. It was Sunday evening, place was packed, but they found 2 seats for us and made sure we have everything we need. Drinks were good but the food was amazing. We waited a bit for it (totally understandable), but when we explained we were in a hurry to catch a plane, they made sure we got it fast. We’d love to go again with no pressure. Hope we’ll have another opportunity. Good job everyone there and thank you!

Great pub for a families - we were 12 and we got all our food at the same time, hot & delicious! And great menu for vegans/vegetarians and gluten-free diets too.

A lovely gastropub in the middle of nowhere, yet with easy access to motorways. There's ample parking at the front and around the back. For the last few years we have visited The Hollybush on Christmas Eve, for my aunt's birthday lunch. It's a special occasion for this, and also a chance to get the family together close to Christmas. The experience never disappoints, with a great selection of seasonal and general pub grub, elevated. There's a smashing choice of beers on and off tap, and wines too. Great cocktails as well, as my mum loves a well made Godfather. The food has lots of unusual and creative edges for a pub, such as sticky pigs in blankets, more moreish than normal, as well as a fondue made from Camembert. The meat is fantastic, such as plump pork with crispy fat, locally- made faggots and lamb chops (you can everything served in a huge Yorkshire Pudding if you like). Desserts include the best chocolate fudge cake I have had in a while, the reliable affogato, and luxury hot chocolates. The menu is quite large which is usually an indicator of poor quality, but the food is never less that exceptional, and service is warm and friendly. On a foggy winter's afternoon, ask to be seated by the log burning stove, you won't regret it. Three courses, a lot of drink, and service charge came to around £sixty per person.

This pub is my new favourite place to eat. It is bright, clean and looks brand new. The staff are polite, friendly and plenty in number. It took me 15 minutes to chose from the menu. There could be more options for vegans, but there is plenty of vegetarian options. The food is amazing. Full of flavour, well presented and made with love. This pub sets the benchmark for good food, served right at a reasonable price.

First time at this pub with my mate. Nice place a little out of the way of the main high street but a lovely drive & a lovely village. The staff were very welcoming, efficient & knowledgeable about the drinks they were serving, thank you... We will be back 😎

The staff were attentive and friendly, the food was delicious (and a generous portion!!) And well priced, and the pub itself was clean and inviting. Don't live locally, only in the area for work, but would definitely visit again when work calls for it.

Quite a few years since we last visited. Complete make over has greatly improved the restaurant. Food was delicious, cocktails were great. Service a little slow to take order but it was a busy Saturday evening so understandable otherwise very attentive. Good vibe, with a buzz of chatter. Thoroughly enjoyable evening.

We booked in for lunch in the restaurant. On arrival we were a little disappointed that the restaurant wasn't open and we were seated in the bar, but not a big deal really. Parking is plentiful and the spaces are bigger than most. The staff are lovely and service fantastic. Drinks arrived quickly and nothing was too much trouble. The pub itself is bright and airy and feels like a nice place to be. The food was the best we have eaten in a while (my partner had the beef rib and I had the crispy pork noodles). Both absolutely perfect. Dessert was tasty too. I had the mini dessert and coffee and the cake was as big as I would have expected for a standard size dessert. Sundae was lovely but perhaps a little overpriced for what it is. That is being picky though, overall it was all pretty great. We can't wait to come back.

Stumbled across this little gem. No complaints, bar girl was very hospitable, pleasant and polite. Only had a snack and coffee but made very welcome and was very enjoyable. 🫶🏼

Been twice in last few weeks. March offer and mum's birthday. I have to say both times were fantastic. Service is great and good is tasty and hot! No complaints from me! It's been so refreshing to eat in a restaurant where the staff are pleasant and the food is great. Had so many bad experiences. Highly recommend.

We booked a table for Boxing Day. The food and service were simply fantastic. We were in a little separate area which we loved as it felt a little more private. The little touches of this restaurant are wonderful. The toilets have various products and little flannels/towels to dry your hands. The baby changing room was exceptional…the little things make a difference x

Had heard good things so popped in for a midweek lunch. Food was excellent we had hake wellington and fish and chips. Both superb. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

We booked a table for a family of nine on Easter Sunday and had a really good time. Staff were very polite and looked after us with a good sense of humour. Very clean and tidy, food was great and to add the cherry on the top they had rattler cider! A must try again!

Had a fantastic tasty meal this evening. The staff were super friendly and attentive. Quiet night, but they haven't been opening on Mondays recently. The atmosphere in the pub was great, even though it was quiet. It was extremely clean. The toilets were spotless with lots of thoughtful extras. Slightly more pricey than some establishments, but you definitely get what you pay for, in my opinion. I will definitely be encouraging other friends to head to this pub. It deserves to do well. I will most certainly be visiting again soon.

Great pub for eating in. They have a wide-ranging menu and the food is good (despite the breadth of the menu) and decent value but not cheap. The pork belly roast on a recent Sunday was a bit dry, and the red cabbage was a bit over-spiced for my taste, but overall it was still good. Decent beer as well, usually HPA on tap. Service is friendly and efficient, with some long serving front of house staff at the core of things (ethic is great to see). There is a dog friendly area around the bar with plenty of tables (though some are close together, so if busy and a big dog you may find you're in the way at times). Good outside space as well, car park is convenient but can fill up; one disabled space (great!) and a couple of spaces with cat chargers, which is also really helpful.

Managed to get in on Sunday 12th for lunch, had the Sunday roast which was absolutely delicious, lovely food with good portions, love the fact that they do half bottles of wine as just right to accompany dinner. Was greeted and looked after by John who was polite and friendly and professional.. Definitely recommend a visit.

The food here is absolutely unreal, and the portions are huge. Loved it, and they were so friendly and great with the kids. 100% would go again. Worth the drive.

We attended on Bank holiday as a table of 7. The service was fantastic, the food is always first class. They had a fab singer on creating a fab atmosphere. The place is always spotless and they have little touches in the women’s toilet. Ryan is excellent front of house and always so happy.

We enjoyed a family meal here for eight people including two little ones, this was on a Sunday afternoon. We all agreed that the food and service were excellent. All the food was piping hot and all served at the same time, the vegan choice was very good and the deserts were delicious. This was a birthday occasion and they accepted our own birthday cake and sang happy birthday🎂 The beer and cocktails were great. We will be eating there again very soon.

First time visiting this delightful pub. Food was beautifully presented, piping hot and delicious. Perhaps if they could put the fire on a bit earlier to increase the temperature in the dining room but overall a lovely meal. We will return 👌

Relatively easy to find, car park in the front and back of the venue. The place is decorated well and facilities are clean and tidy. Ambience is good and dog friendly. Food was average for me unfortunately, I had the glenfiddit ham and it was overcooked, my other parties food was good I was told, they had beef ribs, salmon and the Shawarma. The lady brought the foods to us was pleasant but the lady who took our order is not, could do with a smile and upsale a bit, we asked for recommendations on portion size, did not get the response I was looking for, merely a 'shrug of shoulder'. The main course portion was massive in general, would be good to see the porton size a bit smaller and charge maybe a few pounds less as the price is a bit on the expensive side.

It was a last minute decision to dine out and a quick call to reserve seats for within half an hour was successful. There was enough parking space, and the environment was quiet and neat. The atmosphere was good. There was provision for children and toddlers and also for Wheelchair users. The staff were friendly, polite, cautious, and caring. There were couple of trainee staffs of which they all did brilliantly in ensuring timely cleaning and quick awareness of what is going on around. A bit of wait for starter to arrived but it was well worth the wait as cleaned up the plates. We had 2 chicken Tenders with Memphis BBO, Cheesy Nachos with Tomato Salsa and Carrot + Cucumber sticks + Sour Cream, Sticky BBQ Pork Ends and Holly Bush Chicken Wings. For Main course, we had Fish Bites + Chips, Peas + Ketchup, Tomato & Cheese Pizza, Slow Roasted Pork Belly and French Fries & Salads as a sides. The dessert was a top notch as we munched through Warm Cookies + Vanilla Ice Cream, Chocolate Brownie + Ice Cream, Vanilla Milkshake and Banafee Milkshake. I'm recommending The Hollybush Inn for patronage.

Came here for Mother’s Day - my daughter’s treat to me - the place is lovely the atmosphere was lovely and the service was second to none. It was incredibly busy but still the attention from staff was good. However, the food, although a very good standard it was cold and the roast potatoes weren’t good at all due to being cold. It did leave me a little disappointed but I accepted that due to how busy it was I knew why. I would go back again to try it on a not so busy day.

This was my first visit. The place looks to have been recently refurbished and the decor is pleasant. Staff were friendly and service was good. We chose to have two starters as we felt the main courses were overpriced. Crispy duck salad was delicious. Nachos were good too.

Wonserful meal, nice decor. The servers were eager to clear away between courses, maybe because we were first sitting, so it felt a little rushed? Otherwise very good overall.

The food was really tasty, the fire could have done with being alight..was a bit chilly..however the service was good and like I said the food was rather nice.

Lovely pub with food to a good standard. Good selection of beers and cocktails too. We've had some really nice meals here, my only complaint is the last 2 visits I've had to send my steak back to be cooked some more. I ordered medium and both times it was served rare. After re-cooking it was fine, but most others you're dining with are finished by the time you get your meal then... & cooking a medium fillet steak isn't difficult to get right. Don't let the above put you off though, it's a really nice pub and well worth a visit 👍

Other than avoid the blandest Cheese and Biscuits desert selection (2 X cheese, quince and a few biscuits) couldn't fault the food and service so well worth a visit.

Just had another Sunday roast here with 5 others, not sure what is going on with Hollybush but this time the food was not as favourable as my previous visit. Three had the chicken roast one went back to the kitchen for being under cooked, one other the chicken was tough. The two beef were good but as our previous Sunday visit, the place was virtually empty at 2pm! Seems a bit inconsistent plus I've noticed the owners don't seem to respond to any reviews so not sure if they care! My Previous Review--- lovely roast dinner here & compared to our last visit a couple of months ago, the quality & size of portion we were served with this time was far superior! Maybe my previous negative review was seen & the owners/chef "tweaked" the servings a bit, either way a great meal with excellent 👌 service, thank you.

I do not often leave reviews but feel compelled to do so in this instance. I recently visited the Hollybush Inn for a family meal. The food was very nice but the service was adequate at best. We waited a long time after finishing our main courses for the plates to be cleared from the table, despite several of the waiting staff glancing over to our table and seeing that everybody had finished eating. We then waited a long time again for the waiting staff to take our dessert order. At the end of the meal, it felt that the staff were keen for us to vacate the table quickly as they had another booking for our table, ironically a situation caused in part by the slow service! As a result, I did not feel able to speak to the staff about our experience at the time. BEWARE IF BOOKING FOR A LARGE PARTY. As per the terms of booking, the restaurant takes a £10 per person deposit. According to the website, 'more than 48 hours notice of changes can result in a full refund or exchange for a voucher'. We cancelled two of the people on our booking with two weeks' notice but were only offered a voucher and not a cash refund. On the day, my partner was also unable to attend due to illness but the restaurant retained her deposit. Whilst this is as per the terms of booking (I'm not sure how it is possible to give 48 hours' notice of illness), I do not feel that my partner's non-attendance would have caused any significant loss to the restaurant (we would not have been seated at a smaller table) and instead has resulted only in the loss of goodwill. Overall, a disappointing experience and I will not be returning. EDIT: After contacting the manager, he has sent a voucher for the value of my partner's deposit. Overall, a reasonable resolution given the circumstances.

I’m normally reluctant to leave a negative review as working in a public facing industry myself I would rather any issues be dealt with direct there and then rather than online, but when they decide to walk away & ignore you I feel it’s the only option. Having booked for Lunch we were shown to our table. After 15 minutes we got someone to take our order as no one had come over we had to call someone across to do it. After waiting an hour for our food & seeing several tables around us being served in all this time we were never check on for drink so we politely raised a concern about our order & wanted to see how much longer it would be, as we were dining with children they were beginning to become impatient. The girl who came wasn’t our server but she was friendly & said she will go and find out. On returning from the kitchen she went over to the manager, who was the same person who took our order & was conversing over by the bar area for a while. The manager, then flustered came to our table to double check our order & asked us to repeat it again. I did ask the question ‘Has it not been put through?’ Which the response was ‘I’m just going to check on it.’ This began to aggravate me, as you could see the order hadn’t reached the kitchen but rather than just owning up to the issue they had created and apologising instead he scuttled off to the kitchen. By this point we had came to the conclusion that we were going to be waiting even longer & to not be kept in the loop of the issue & fobbed off just made us unhappy. We decided now we were just going to pay for the 1 drink we had & call it quits. The manager returned shortly and informed us that he has put our order to next in the queue followed by an insincere sorry. We told him we decided against waiting and could we settle up for the drinks a leave. His attitude changed instantly & seemed like he couldn’t see what the issue was as he’s ‘bumped us to next out the kitchen’ & said ‘what else don’t you you want me to do?!’ Again we politely repeated we just want to settle our bill as by now our son was beyond hungry, to which the manager said ‘ I’ll get him some bread if he wants it’ Again we simply declined and prepared to leave. The manager then stormed back off to the kitchen & shouted for everyone in the restaurant to hear ‘Cancel it they don’t want it now!’ I’m sorry if you’re angry cause we refused to stay. But the only reason we cancelled was due to your incompetence to begin with. When he returned with the card machine, his bolshie attitude was disinterest and kept saying ‘I don’t know what you want me to do, mate’ Firstly if you are in a managers role, don’t go calling disgruntled paying customers ‘Mate’ it’s not professional at all. As we left we remained calm but aired our opinion that how had nobody bothered to come over once to check on us. Our table was right in the middle of the restaurant in the walk way. He kept telling us that he had 2 trainees he was training today and it was busy & also it’s sunny. I mean I don’t know what the weather had to do with it. With about 10 people sat outside most were going to the bar themselves and by the looks around the restaurant there can’t of been more than 10 covers in. When making our way out, we did state to him that we thought he was rude & had a bad attitude to which he turned his back and exclaimed ‘So do you’! I mean who says that in-front of other consumers and for someone in a leadership role this is not a way to deal with the public. On leaving we followed him to his console station and ask for his name twice which both times he didn’t answer to which we asked to speak to the manger to which he replied with an arrogance ‘I am the manager’ A manager sets the tone for any business and this one made it clear they don’t respect their customers. A good restaurant isn’t just about food—it’s about service and respect. If the person in charge can’t handle basic customer service without hostility, then this place doesn’t deserve your time or money. Save the frustration and dine elsewhere. 0 stars for rudeness

Booked around 2 weeks ago for a party of 14 people for last night, for a special celebration. Arrived to be told our booking had been cancelled despite calling them a couple days before to confirm and pay a deposit. On raising our frustrations we were met with arrogance, sarcasm and rudeness particularly by the male waiter who treated us like it was our fault. We were then offered to 'squeeze' on 3 separate tables, 2 tables for 4 and a table for 2 or 3 for 14 people! The waitresses attempted to change the tone of the arrogance of the waiter and apologise but sadly too late. Luckily Meadow Farm were able to push some tables together and accommodate all 14 of us to sit together and we did manage our celebrations, all be it late. Unfortunately this wasn't an isolated incident as had been the month before for a family birthday and although the food was lovely, we were still met with the same rudeness of this waiter then. Why be in a customer service position if you're not a people person? Safe to say we won't be trusting them again with our family gatherings. Nice food but organisation and lack of people skills really let the place down. UPDATE: Thank you for your response Jon but unfortunately you can't tell me we cancelled online as it was booked by telephone so did not have an online booking. I see the tone of all of your responses is negative, always with sarcasm and always blaming the customer, which appears to be a top down ethos of the Hollybush. Such a shame!

I can’t remember ever having a worse meal. I went with family for Sunday lunch , the beef was like old leather and when I raised it I was told it was a working animal , “would you like a free desert “ I won’t be going again , it was so bad

Had fish very over cooked, when complained at the end of the meal with the fish batter left in my plate , was told because I never said anything when I was asked how the food was there was nothing they could do .£19.40 for over cooked fish is very bad
