I have heared a lot about bufft style breakfast they are doing which i had in this morning ,everything kept hot ,and the options are plenty to eat ,waitress named jaspreet informed us everything and help us with vegan options they got such a beautiful breakfast they are serving.

Have a great experience Food and services were amazing. Jaspreet served us she is just wowww . I spent wonderful morning with my friends there, really enjoyed . Definitely visit again :)

Had an excellent meal at the weekend when out for our family Christmas dinner. Reasonable pricing, fantastic service, and wonderful atmosphere. We shall definitely return. Thank you Dan for a fab evening!!! 👍

Went for dinner and drinks very recently at B+B exchange. Staff and management were very attentive. Had mac and cheese bites to start which were cooked very nicely. For mains we had the steak sampler which consists of 4oz fillet, sirloin and rump with chips and choice of sauce. All 3 steaks were cooked beautifully and the fact you get 3 cuts I think gives a nice variety to what you are eating. All perfectly seasoned. I would recommend going between the hours of 5pm-8pm as you are able to take full advantage of their 2-4-1's on cocktails! Cocktail list itself is quite extensive meaning that everybody should be able to find a drink that suits them. Atmosphere of both the bar and restaurant gives off a cosy yet sociable feeling. Would recommend Bar and Block Exchange to everybody and will definitely be dining here again in the near future.

An amazing stay here and the food and drinks was incredible. The service was outstanding and we had a great time. Breakfast was lovely and the steak and prawns was out of this world. Will be back.

The steakhouse was a great part of my hotel stay. Thank you in particular to Qadirah who was a wonderful member of the wait staff, making sure I got my food and drinks on time and checking that everything was alright.

Came in for a meal with my wife, the restaurant is amazing, such a beautiful atmosphere paired with the decor really makes it pop. Food was amazing, we both had fillet, cooked to perfection. The staff were really friendly and attentive. They couldn't do enough for us. Would definitely come here again.

A nice atmosphere, seperation between bar and resturant. Service was welcoming and advice on menu items was useful. Food came out hot and didnt look or taste rushed. All in all a very nice amd affordable meal out as a family.

My partner and I went a couple of weeks ago and were served by a lady called Jenny who was lovely. It was our first time trying Bar and Block so Jenny our server recommended some of the tapas plates which we both really enjoyed and thought was great value for money. Overall we had a really nice evening, the food was lovely, and our server was very attentive so we would definitely go again.

Amazing Breakfast at Bar and Block! Food was really good worth a visit if you’re staying in Birmingham. Do look out for chef Dhruv he’s a delight!

Had breakfast here with my family and it was amazing! The food was delicious and Dhuv was super kind. he even made sure my granny’s special order and allergies were taken care of. Great experience overall!

My breakfast at Bar + Block Exchange Square was absolutely wonderful. The food was top quality, fresh, flavorful and beautifully served. What truly made the experience special was Dhruv. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, checked on us every now and then and made sure my dietary requirements were handled perfectly. His attention to detail and friendly approach turned a simple breakfast into a memorable experience. Dhruv really made our visit memorable and we would happily return.

Came for lunch which was £13.95 for two courses. Had steak and beef dripping chips for my main and cookie dough for dessert. My dad had the same main and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. It was very quiet when we came but I'm not surprised for a restaurant thats part of a hotel in a city centre full of loads of eateries - I imagine breakfast is the busiest time! The service was on the slow side, felt like we were forgotten about at one point. The staff seemed friendly enough. Thought the drinks were on the expensive side. Would visit again, especially for the lunch time menu which I thought was great value!

Tap beers and bottles available. Staff were friendly and polite. Good size patio area at the front of the premises. Nicely decorated inside with good seating. Enjoyed my visit.

The restaurant is clean and was very quiet. Staff seemed unsure whether lunch started eventhough I was there at 12pm. The service was ok and I appreciate the effort to check up on if the food was good. The food was nice and the prices was reasonable. I felt like the the korean chicken wings were barbecque wings and too much sauce and the brownie had a lot of toffee sauce and could have done with more ice cream but otherwise good portion sizes. Also I liked the idea of the butchers block showing the specials.

TBH I didn't hold much hope, but overall I was pleasantly surprised. Ordered a pint of Prava, tomato brushetta (£5.50) and the 8oz rump (£19.50) medium rare. So a good price Well the service was quick and polite, the starter wasn't great, expected a little more and the steak looked poorly presented....but...the steak was fantastic. Beautifully cooked to perfection and tasted lovely. All I would say is add some lettuce wedge, mushrooms or something as standard to present it better. Thank you for dinner....loved it

Seeking a cosy-good food and cocktails place? Search no more. Great food for great price ( 2 cocktails/ 2 appetizers/ 1 main for 40£). The staff was nice, food was great and they do 2 for 1 cocktails. I would definitely recommend it.

Good value early dining set menu, friendly staff

With great satisfaction I enjoyed my dinner at this wonderful restaurant. The front house staff were professional and proper. The menu was predictable, and the meal exceptional; highly recommended the cookie dough for dessert. Personally recommend for anyone craving steak and with a sweet tooth.

Noisy when busy - hard acoustics. At breakfast, coffee machines running out of choice by 9am. Staff friendly tho. Later... no Fever Tree. Uncivilised..

Food took longer than expected however the starters were good. Mains one steak was cooked as requested the other was over however my partner was still happy with their steak. The chips were cold and returned to the kitchen. These were then put back into a fryer that wasn't hot enough so came out greasy. Unfriendly team memeber that was clearly disgruntled to honour vouchers. This team member was also the duty manager. Witnessed her and the chef having a short argument. Not good from a customer perspective. When attempting to pay we went to the bar after being left with the bill for a period of time to be redirected to the restaurant to pay via a handheld device. Surely it is possible to pay at the bar and if the team had approached for payment in a reasonable time there would have been no need to go to the bar. The team were all focussed on close down duties and setting up for breakfast rather than the guests. It is a shame as I have had great experiences at other Bar + Block's and this has not shown a level of consistency across the brand.

This only got 3 stars because the breakfast was exactly what you would expect from a Premier Inn affiliated resturant. I was here on business and had the evening meal deal. Most of the menu was trying to upsell from the standard menu. The restaurant was fairly empty and service took way too long. Took 15 minutes to order then it took a further 30 minutes to arrive. When it did it was over done. The resturant looks nice especially the bar area, but dont be fooled! Don't choose to spend your money here, only the breakfast would be worth it.

Last time I came here it was better. The burger was a bit disappointing and they never prompt you for sides so you end up with a small burger and 4 and a half chips. Could do better.

Poor value and poor food. Had run out of certain kids items. Meals came before drinks arrived. Dirty glass. Pictured is my £19 burger. Very poor value. Avoid.

Visited as next to hotel. Service was dire even though the restaurant was less than 1/3 full. Food was not very inspiring and poorly executed. Feta/greek salad was prepack garage quality. One of those places where the staff are moving about and focused on keeping the tables neat so they can get away quickly at the end of the shift and it’s only 730pm. Meal took for ever to arrive and the bill was even longer to get.

Came here on a weekend trip to Birmingham. Didn't realise at the time that this restaurant is connected to the Premier Inn hotel. Seemed that those staying at the hotel were made priority and were seen to a lot quicker than ourselves. Took about 15 minutes until a member of staff came to take our drink order. There was only 3 other tables seated at this point. A further 10 minutes passed then we placed our starter and main order and enquired where our drinks were. A few moments later the waitress returned asking what our drinks were again as the bar staff "lost the ticket" (may I add we could see the bar from our table, so where it could have got lost i don't understand). We told her our drinks again. Moments later she returned again, apologising that the butchers block meal was unavailable as they had no beef short rib. I changed my order to the surf and turf block instead (which was £8 more!) The drinks arrived, no problems there other than the wait. Starters arrived about 10 minutes later. Rarebit crumpet lovely, tad too much onion overpowering the taste of the meat. Sweet potato fries all overdone, with no dip either- for £8 I expected better. Held out hope for the main course. Approximately 25 minutes later it arrived. Surf and turf block lovely, steak large, cooked well with prawns aplenty. However, it looked a bit sparse on the plate, when I glanced at the menu I realise I should have been given the option of a side, which I was not asked for at the time of ordering. I called over the waitress and enquired about this. She simply said "you didn't mention a side so I assumed you didn't want one" I asked if some mushrooms could be cooked for me as I would have chosen them given the option. She gladly obliged and asked the kitchen to do this, bringing them over about 5 minutes later. I had no complaints about the quality of my food. My partners meal, however, the block steak sampler, could have been mistaken for a kids meal. He did originally ask if one of the cuts of meat could be upgraded by 2oz, like it can if you have steak on it's own. He was told they are all cut ready to size so could not be done. When they came out they could pass for meatballs they were so small, eaten in 2 bites each, with no differentiation between the types of steak. 4 onion rings and a small pot of chips accompanied this, for £35- rip off I say. We didn't bother with pudding as we were already at £100 and didn't want to pay any more for a long wait and small portions. Would not recommend eating here unless you like overpriced food and slow service.

We were very disappointed with our evening meal at Bar + Block during a weekend trip to Birmingham. Having chosen this restaurant due to its convenient location next to our hotel, we were looking forward to a quality steak dinner and opted for the most expensive sharing platter on the menu — the Chateaubriand. Unfortunately, the experience fell well short of expectations from the outset. After being seated, we waited approximately 25 minutes before a member of staff approached our table. During this time, it was evident that the two wait staff on duty were disengaged and inattentive. At one point, a gentleman at a nearby table had to raise his voice across the restaurant simply to place an order, as the staff were standing in the middle of the dining area chatting. When our food eventually arrived — having been left sitting at the pass for several minutes — the steak itself was decent. However, the accompanying sides were deeply disappointing. The ‘beef dripping triple-cooked chips’ were lukewarm, under-seasoned, and bore more resemblance to oven chips than anything freshly prepared. The onion rings were similarly underwhelming: hard, flavourless, and served at a tepid temperature. The peppercorn sauce, served in a very small portion, lacked any real depth of flavour. The vegetables were acceptable, but nothing noteworthy. In an effort to salvage the evening, we decided to try dessert. Sadly, this too was underwhelming. The burnt Basque cheesecake had an unpleasant gritty texture and was slimy, while the tiramisu was very basic — palatable, but served without even a dusting of cocoa on top, which felt like a careless oversight. While these issues may seem minor in isolation, they collectively contributed to a frustrating experience, particularly given the cost of the meal and our intention to treat ourselves. It's disheartening to spend hard-earned money on what was meant to be a special dinner, only to leave feeling disappointed. For clarity, this review pertains solely to the evening meal. The breakfast provided the next morning was lovely and met expectations.

Started off good at the bar but the steak was shocking. Honestly can’t call this a steak place. Chewy under cooked steak. Explained it wasn’t good and she accepted then offered a free desert. I had to decline and leave after full payment. Premium cut in photo 🤦🏼‍♂️

Went to this restaurant due to it being next to the hotel. Chose the tapas menu for some quick food. Food tasted lovely however both myself and my mother ended up with food poisoning from the meal

Came here yesterday food took ages the bill took ages but gave them the benefit of the doubt, came back today and waited 45 minutes for them to start frying my halloumi fries starter even with only 3 other tables in the restaurant absolutely horrendous service not even a glass of water would give everything a 0 if I could!! Staff are lazy

Overpriced. Food was poor. Portions were very small. Friday evening and there were only 5 other people in the place. Area outside is full of drinkers and homeless. Advertised 25% off…but it turned out to only be on 2nd visit.

The service in this place is so bad. Over 90min waiting for our dishes. Food was cold and under cooked. Bar service was so so slow. Some drinks didn’t turn up. Chaotic staff and kitchen. Over priced. Other customers gave up waiting and left. Just go anywhere else.
