Day/time: Thursday lunch time. Ambience: This place has had a very nice refurb, resulting in a warm and comfortable place to eat. It is clean and the tables are reasonable spaced allowing your party to have a quiet conversation. In the background can be heard quiet music which adds to the atmosphere. Staff: Every single member of staff was extremely helpful and polite and they all had a smile! Food/Drink: We chose the carvery and desserts. The carvery had beautifully cooked meats, in generous portions and a wide range of vegetables, also perfectly cooked. A special mention must go to having a choice between Yorkshire pudding and a generous portion of toad in the hole (no extra cost for the sausage). All of the food was hot. We did have a look at the alternative menu and we agreed that it was quite extensive and included offerings for all tastes. Good sweet menu too! We had the Creme Brulé and Key Lime Pie (see photo) - both were excellent. The bar is well stocked, well presented in keeping with the rest of the pub and there is a decent selection of beers and lagers on the pulls. Prices: Very reasonable and on a par with anywhere else in this category of eatery. Overall: Well done to all of the staff and thank you. This was a very pleasant visit and we will be back!

My first visit last night and definitely won’t be my last. The carvery was delicious - meat was so tender, home made yorkies, plenty of variety with potatoes and vegetables including a leek bake and cauliflower cheese. Couldn’t resist having the crème brulee which was so tasty and excellently presented. All of the staff are so friendly and attentive. Look forward to returning :-)

I only popped in due to my car go8ng into nissan next door. The employees stated this place also does a lovely breakfast. Upon entering the place is so warmly with its decor and the staff were more than polite and full of conversation. I only had a couple of ales but would be worth a future visit.

What a great breakfast you get here. The food is superb for a buffet breakfast. Everything cooked well and full of flavour. Staff are always pleasant and check on you whilst you eat. Price is great as it includes unlimited drinks. Best place to eat anywhere near here, you won’t find a better breakfast

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had the carvery and the meat was absolutely delicious they’re very generous with portions too. The chef carving was pleasant, friendly, and polite, which made the experience even better. My friend ordered the mixed grill and (while in a complete food coma!) said it was delicious, cooked to perfection, and a very large portion. The bar staff were lovely and polite, and our waiting staff couldn’t do enough for us. They also have a large free car park and outdoor play area for children 🎉 10/10 experience — can’t wait to come back!

Restaurant it is clean and spacious. I came to restaurant on new years day & was in a group of 8 there was Serval items not available on menu which we were made aware of before visit ( pre booked) phoned us to tell us in advance to let us know. There was abit of a wait but was told when ordering food. In the restaurant there was a lot of big groups so understandable for a long wait. Everyone in our group was happy with food & I would recommend visiting. Unfortunately on our visit carvery not available but heard it's very good will visit again & try carvery & update review

I popped in on the off chance. I was really hungry and wanted to try somewhere different. Today is my first time. I entered and was attended to right away and given a nice seatingnarea pretty quickly. I ordered my food and drinks for my family and they brought the coffee over for me. The bar staff are welcoming and hospitable. THE IMPORTANT BIT I went to collect my carvery.. I always ask for every type of meat to get my value but honestly!!! Let me tell you... You have to beg them to stop!!! My man on the counter was ramming my plate to the ceiling. My eyes were like 👀, in side my heart was smiling ❤️‍🔥😃. I was about to be... PROPERLY FED! I smiled through the vegetable variety, and laughed on the way to the condiments. Before I even started thinking of eating the food, I was already full of joy at the idea alone. I've eaten as much as I can and I am absolutely stuffed. I feel like a play doh shaper. If you pushed my belly now youd have stroodles and noodles coming out my nose and ears! Absolutely top quality venue and food! The ladies on the till, Lily and Lakesha were awesome and they make jokes.. 😁 Joel on the carvery was more than welcoming. His whole demeanor just wanted to bring me happiness, and he had the desired effect. Im elated with the service and value for money here today. 100% recommend, will definitely, 100% return!

Excellent carvery, beef was absolutely delicious and good sized portions. Staff are very attentive and helpfull, assisting my wife who has mobility issues with getting her carvery. Having worked in the pub trade in the past I can say that this is a very well run, professional establishment.

Great staff, great selection of drinks and the carvery looked amazing. Although I didn't get to try it first hand a number of close friends have highly recommended it! The play area for children is very new and my daughter loved it. Overall, definitely worth popping in for a pint or a meal if in the area!

Very friendly family orientated pub, with delicious food and attentive staff. Talisha very kindly assisted plating up a carvery for my dad who has to walk with sticks. Emma, Lilly and all the staff made our evening very enjoyable. I would highly recommend.

Have been today for breakfast. Very tasty, plentiful on the buffet despite it being extremely busy. Couldn't fault. Sarah who was running the place on her own nothing was too much trouble even though she was here there and everywhere. Great service, great food and great value. Thanks 😊

Excellent carvery lunch, very impressed by the way they coped with a gluten free diet and by provision of smaller meals for seniors if desired. Staff outstanding. Would like to go back again!

Went to the Wellington for the first time and wasn't disappointed food was fresh had the standard carvery and it was plenty. The homemade yorkshire pudding was amazing. Puddings were very nice and price was great. The staff were very pleasant and professional thank you to lily she was so helpful and the young girl who showed us to our table all in all I will be returning again very soon

This is the first time we have visited the New Wellington. Sarah and Ellie greeted us on arrival, and explained how it works. Excellent value for £9.95 including tea and coffee. The breakfast is very good with a vast selection and you can toast your own bread there is also jam and marmalade Excellent value for money. We will be back 15.02.26

Today I discovered the best carvery in the Midlands! The meat was juicy and the selection of vegetables was superb, and all fresh. The food was piping hot! We thoroughly enjoyed our meals!!! Well done to the chefs!!! We were served by Lily on the bar, who was incredibly welcoming. We'll certainly be back again soon!!!

Recently refurbished. A clean, very friendly environment with plenty of seating, especially for small parties and groups. A generous buffet of breakfast and daily carvery. Ample parking, great outdoor seating and fun activity centre for children. Very friendly staff who take the time to chat and see to your every need. Bookings not essential, but recommend as this place can get busy, which speaks if it's popularity.

Me & my partner visited for the first time tonight to try the carvery. It was a lovely meal and the meat was cooked just right. It was well worth the visit as it took us 45 minutes to get there. The staff were really nice and polite and the manager although a young lady was extremely polite and apologies she had to deal with some auckward customers next to us. We will definitely be coming back

First time coming last friday 24th Jan. Definitely will not be our last, the restaurant was clean and welcoming, The carvery was absolutely delicious, the meat was something I have never had before, thick slices of tender beef, moist turkey, melts in your mouth type. The quantity of the meat is more than any other carvery I have been to, and it tastes delicious, the veg was equally delicious nice veriety to choose from, but dont get me started on the mashed potato omg 😋 I could have eaten the whole tray it was so tasty. The homemade yorkshire puddings were rhe best i have had. Not too crunchy where its filled with air, they were yum. Hats off to the chef and the carver, yet to know their names, but we will in time, We were served by Ellie and Sarah, both lovely, helpful and friendly. A credit to the team. Thank you for your hospitality. See you soon 😊

Friendly staff, but didn’t eat. Kids play area, carvery and other food options. Update: I have since gone back for food, and was positively surprised. Great portions, my boyfriend had surf and turf with prawns - which he said was delicious despite the steak being a little bit thin. Very affordable for the three of us and what we ate.

Went today for carvery after the refurbishment. Honestly yhe food was piping hot meat pork turkey beef. Was so tender and juicy. Veg, brocoli, peas, sweetcorn, carrots, cauliflower cheese, Parsnips, roast potatoes, mash and a spinach cheese gratin. Spot on breakfast buffet. Popped in while my car was being serviced next door at Nissan and will be back to try the carvery out. Nice and warm on a horrible wet day to sit, do a little bit of people watching and get a full belly! Staff were lovely and smiley and thanks Sarah for being a star.

Stopped by on a Sunday from a canal boat. Had a wonderful Sunday dinner. They happily (and luckily) accommodated us without a reservation. I had the carvery buffet picking beef and pork, beef was good, pork was excellent. I also liked their onion gravy. I’ll probably never go back as I live far away, but highly recommend it if you are near.

Myself and 2 friends decided to go for a meal there last night, just to see for ourselves what it was like. Can I say, we were not disappointed. Very friendly staff, they made you feel so welcome. I am vegetarian, so I chose one of the veggie options of the carvery. The chef was extremely helpful, he advised me the roast potatoes had been cooked in goose fat, but if I didn't mind waiting a short while he would cook some for me that weren't cooked in animal fat. Which I accepted. My friends and I had a really lovely evening, from the food and the service we received we could find nothing to complain about. I will definitely go there again

This is the best carvery in the area. Food piping hot , great selection of veg. But most of all every member of staff gave excellent customer service . We were seated on the upper level in bar area as my mom as trouble with steps , but on the way out the lovely lady behind the bar and young lad that was clearing tables told us they could get a ramp save her walking up the steps, they were so caring . Best service ever will be returning and telling friends and family . Thank you again.

Went to the Wellington for the first time today to celebrate my birthday, it’s difficult with my brother who’s disabled but I must say the staff were fantastic with him going above and beyond with table location and wheelchair ramp. The food was excellent, we normally go to the Nailers arms Bourneheath, but the carvery meat and vegetable selection is so much better at the Welly will definitely be back

We went to The New Wellington on a Sunday but didn't want the carvery but the main menu wasn't available as it was the special Burns Night menu, with guidance from Emma who took our order we managed to find suitable meals from the Burns menu and it was absolutely delicious and well worth the money. Emma made really good cocktails too!

Carvery was 10/10 , best carvery I’ve had for ages. One negative I do have is if your planning on going here for a family meal or friends and you want to sit and have a chatter probably not the place we were only here for 50 mins and then were asked “How long are you going to be , we need the table “ to which we responded I guess now.. whilst I appreciate it’s busy on a Sunday I didn’t expect to eat and then be asked when we were leaving like i say it’s not like we’d been sat there for ages it had been 50 minutes. I’ve worked in customer service food for years and have always been told not to ask a table to leave.

Came here the other day and the carvery was beautiful. Cannot knock the carvery. And the puddings very tasty. Service was not good. Seemed rather understaffed. To the point a man who did work there but was on his day off and wasn't supposed to be working came to help us because we were stood waiting for a while. This is my major complaint, As a wheelchair user getting into this puv is a mission. As they have taken the front door away you go in via the car park( which is awful btw) Instead of a proper ramp down to the pub tables you go through a gate. The tiny and very steep ramp to get in is definitely not legal and is not to standard. Really hard to get a push along wheelchair up it. Definitely wouldn't get an electric one up it either. Then to get into the pub they pub a ramp by the fire exit which was just balancing. Not safe at all. Didn't have any help with it either. You could obviously see we were struggling and bar maid just watched! Basically if your in a wheelchair and are unable to walk, dont even consider this pub as it is a mission to get in and a very dangerous mission at that. But the food was good. Unfortunately shall not be returning due to the issue of the most ridiculous was to enter the premises and building i have ever encountered. Needs a proper LEGAL ramp down all steps or maybe a front door. Not a dangerous make shift one.

Uncomfortable visit - we were sat right infront of the bar for our meal, knocked by passers by and had everyone gawping at us while we ate. Carvery has lots on offer however, meat was dry & so were roasties. Veggies were good. Food service was great!

M
Matthew Haddon

Good carvery. The beef was beautiful although I only tried a bit off the wife as I had the beef madras which was pretty good. The main letdown is the drink prices as with most pubs now, quite expensive. I paid well over £9 for 2 pints. We have just returned from a weekend in Blackpool and most lager was around £3.20 and one pub is selling it's own lager for £1.75 which is probably where most pints should be. Not surprisingly, when we left, the pub was pretty empty at about 8pm. It's a nice enough pub and the meals are pretty good. There was a good real ale available which makes a change from some of the main brewers that mostly serve muck. I'm only giving 3 stars overall due to high beer prices, but worth a visit for the food and staff seemd pleasant enough.

First, and probably the last time trying out The New Wellington after booking a table for two just over a week in advance for Sunday lunch at midday. When we arrived there were just two cars on the car park and more staff than customers inside. First impression was good; nice clean, bright, newly refurbished pub with a cosy feel, but then we were shown to our table in the darker rear, lower ground area of the pub. Walking from the upper level to our table was like walking from outside on a sunny day, to the chilled aisle in Tesco! The difference in temperatures between the two areas was huge, so much so that we didn't take our coats off during the entire time that we were in the pub. I did ask a member of staff whether there was any heating in the area where we were sat, to be told that there wasn't. I believe she turned the thermostat up "in the hope that the heat spread". There must be a known issue with the cold / damp in that part of the pub as the extractor fan constantly hummed in the background and a dehumidifier sat in the corner. There was an open fireplace, but sadly it was not lit. We waited for a further 10 minutes to see if there was any increase in temperature but we still didn't feel we could take our coats off so we finished our drinks and decided to leave. When I told a member of staff that we were leaving (so that our table could be released for a couple of passing snowmen), he asked why and when I mentioned it was because of how cold the room was, he said he could check if there were any tables available in the front of the pub. Unfortunately availability was limited to high tables / chairs, and people that know me know I would much rather stand than try to navigate a high chair. The room may have warmed up if more people arrived but we were the only ones there and it was simply too cold to be comfortable. We could have waited longer to see if it got warmer but I value the use of my fingers and toes too much, and would have probably struggled to hold cutlery anyway. My big question is why were we lead past vacant tables in a cosy part of the pub to what can only be described as a walk-in fridge? I may have accepted the situation if we walked in without a reservation. I can't comment on the food, but thoroughly enjoyed my carvery at The Dudley Arms.

S
Susan Wylde

Although the carvery started out beautiful, they have since been disappointing. I have had 2 take away carvery since really enjoying the first one , and they have not been good since . Frozen roasters and veg . My parsnips were hard in the centre and Yorkshire pud just crumbled to dust . Meat was lovely .though .

D
Denise Pullen

Food very good, service quick but we were asked to vacate our table because they needed it. We were at the table for 2.45pm were asked to leave it at 5pm. There were 7 of us and we had only just finished dessert....if we were given a table duration on booking this would not of been an issue. We have been several times and this is the first time we have been disappointed. We spent over £150 for this visit.....poor hospitality!

B
Brad Howell

Went here tonight for a birthday with 9 people. Our reserved table didn’t have enough seats for everyone and the staff didn’t seem too interested in moving a table to create enough so ended up doing it ourselves. The restaurant was not very busy yet we still ended up waiting almost an hour for food and even then one was forgotten. Food itself was not great at all. Meat was chewy beef burger was not cooked properly and may not have even been beef at all. Dessert also took over half an hour to come out. Had good expectations coming here however I would not recommend it personally

H
Hailey

Worst buffet breakfast I’ve ever been to. There was no food left when we arrived at 10:15am to then be told we have to wait for more food to be cooked. We waited almost 10 minutes and were told to go up to the buffet and they had only brought our fresh sausages, we then had to wait even longer to more food to be brought out and queue again. Food tasted cheap and cold. If you’re going to do a breakfast until 11am then you need to make sure there’s enough food to last. £23 for two breakfast and an orange juice. We weren’t the only ones complaining. Staff were apologetic but definitely won’t be back.

The New Wellington is not equipped for people with disabilities and will be taking this matter up with the appropriate authorities Very dangerous, high steps to enter the pub or an extremely step ramp that anyone who is able bodied would struggle with. Carvery Meat cold, rest of the food had hardly any heat in it too. I suspect all the food could have been cooked previously on the morning. Desserts were lovely though however to have to choose your dessert when ordering your main is mindblowing. I haven't been anywhere else who asks for your dessert to be chosen before you've eaten your main, unless pre ordering before attending a busy event. Very disappointed, came to try however won't be returning. If you have a disability avoid coming here.

We visited the new Wellington on Sunday, our first visit since it reopened again. Well to be honest we were really disappointed. We paid extra for the lamb and when we got to the counter we saw this pitiful, tiny piece of meat that when it was carved by the young person he smooshed it into pieces before putting it on the plate. He did this with the pork and the turkey too,not slices of meat but bits of meat. I also saw them picking and eating bits of meat while serving and coughing into their hands plus he wasn't wearing gloves either? The vegetables weren't up to much either, im sorry to say, mushy broccoli, cauliflower cheese was unrecognisable, and frozen roasties and parsnips. We ate what little bit of meat there was and left the rest. I saw similar plates to ours being taken back into the kitchen too.

J
Jake Burton

First visit and I had high hopes, but it was disappointing. The floor staff were unwelcoming and had poor manners, although the bar staff were friendly. The carvery was really bad: the broccoli looked days old, the parsnips were raw, and the roast potatoes were burnt and crispy on the outside but still raw inside. I hope they focus more on freshness and quality rather than trying to avoid wastage.

R
Rob Love

Where to start on this one? Took my family here tonight for my dad's birthday 5 of us sat down to eat at 6pm 3 of us had a carvery. I just had a starter as wasn't hungry and my son ordered the mixed grill. My sister had to get her carvery microwaved. My parents just eat their's cold as don't like to make a fuss. Once all three carverys were finished we sat around for a while and wondered what about the mixed grill 🤔 after asking we were told it had been forgotten. We then left and had to pick up food on our way home. Thanks new wellington for absolutely ruining our evening.

It was our visit. The place was deserted and there were no other people but staff in attendance. The carvery set up looked very nice and enticing but we were hugely disappointed to say the least!! We were served hard crusts of meat, vegetables were dry and virtually burnt. Gravy was thick as it had been left bubbling unattended to for hours. Staff were cocky and most unattentive with blaring music in the background. They were load almost pleading with each other to take home the dry most un-eatable left overs. It was the worst carvery I have had and would never go there again!!! We left most of it.

R
Rich Evans

Pre booked a table for nine people when we got there there was not enough tables had to lift a table over other tables so my parents could sit down while. Staff member watched then we where told there was no table Service so at to ordered from the bar Some of my family had carvery and some ordered from the main menu The carvery vegetables where very dry and rubbery potatoes where hard .ordered fish and chips the batter was thick and soggy and chips where hard meals came out at different times . No Staff member came to asked if meals where okay. Ordered puddings which took 30 mins to get to to the table once we had asked a member of staff where they were .one of the puddings had a funny taste so it was sent back and had a refund . Overall disappointed. So was my daughter because it was her birthday meal

Came in on Sunday for a pre booked birthday party, Had to wait an hour for our tables to be ready! My elderly parents had to leave in the end, They were both cold & hungry as we were asked to wait outside! I mean, Really?? I suggest the Manager gets retrained in Customer Service & Organisation skills as he was definitely lacking in both! Food was mediocre at best, Certainly won’t be returning.

C
Chanel Evans

Booked in September for a large party of 19 for my son’s 10th birthday. Paid a large deposit and sent a list of pre orders in 1.5 weeks prior to today. Arrived for 3pm. Was told the table wasn’t ready waited 20 mins with elderly guest. Wasn’t offered an apologise for them running behind. I was told by Adam the manager they have time slot yet they didn’t time a lot to ensure our table would be ready for 3pm priory to booking in September. The attitude of I don’t care about your complaint from the manager was disgraceful. I’m well aware things happen but when you have a small busy pub and 19 guest including children waiting to sit down is annoying. I highly recommend you don’t over book if you can’t accommodate large bookings on time. No point in taking books to not accommodate your customer on time. Not only this we then received our first meal at 4pm 2 meals arrived, 10 mins later another 2 meals arrived. It when only when we complained that they all started to come out leaving the children’s meals till last! Overall I can’t fault the food but the service from the manager was disgrace! The rest of the staff was amazing so thank you!

M
Matthew O'Connell

Went for breakfast at 10:15 and they’d ran out of food. You then have to wait for dribs and drabs of food to come out. I think it would be a lot better if the food was made to order and not buffet style. They are simply overwhelmed and can’t deal with it in the morning.
