Opinions de The Butlers Arms Sutton Coldfield
A really genuinely great gastro pub experience. Went with the family. It's a great looking place inside. Had a nice feel to it. We sat in the restaurant section. The menus were great. Had trouble deciding what to have. I opted for the gravalax followed by the tiger prawns. Kids had ham and eggs and my wife the cod fillet. Everything tasted superb. Really well done and definitely felt good value for the money. Excellent quality food and the lady serving us was really nice too (and helped my wife decide what would be best, even sorted a slightly altered meal for our pickier youngest eater). The chips are literally some of the best we've ever had anywhere. We'll be back because there were so many options on the menu I would have had, I need to try them. Excellent meal.
Celebrated New Years in the restaurant. Great 4 course meal and wonderful service. Thanks alan and sharon
We haven't been to the Butlers Arms for some time sort was really great to find that nothing had changed the welcome fantastic and sincere, the service and food superb we could not fault it (the baked feta was amazing) and the atmosphere warm and safe. We will definitely not leave it as long for our next visit. Thank you Becky and team
Yes, yes and YES!!! An incredibly easy five star review, even though it's extremely rare for me to hand out five stars. When I visit a restaurant, I primarily want good food, after that I'm looking for pleasant service from the staff, and as a cherry on top, if the value for money is good, I certainly won't complain. The Butlers Arms had it all, with more to spare. This was probably some of the best food I've ever had at a 'pub'. The flavours were excellent, the food arrived piping hot and I genuinely felt like I was having a home cooked meal, which means everything tasted freshly prepared. The service blew me away too, the ladies and the gentleman who served us were on fire!! Nothing but smiles, polite manners and an extremely accommodating attitude. When they were not serving us, they could be seen going around making sure everything was taken care of in the restaurant. This is true five star service. As for the price, for the quality and selection on offer, I felt the value for money was excellent. They have 3 and 2 course special offers on at various times, which are all amazing. A great selection without feeling like you have to choose from the dull end of the menu. On top of all this, they source their food locally where possible and smoke their own fish in house (which tasted sublime). I highly recommend The Butlers Arms and can see myself dining here many times in the very near future with friends and family. Note to owners: Well done and please never compromise, you're amazing and I hope you stay that way!!
Our first visit, definitely won't be the last!! Plenty of choice from 3 menus, we went for the a la carte. Staff were very helpful and attentive, food was delicious and portion size was just right. The one thing I would recommend is booking a table, there were no spares on the night that we went (Tuesday) All in all, a brilliant night, can recommend it to everyone (especially if you like fishy dishes 😊)
Great pub with great food and excellent service. Lovely ambience and atmosphere here. The food was outstanding. Lovely flavours and texture. The dessert was a standout. Absolutely lovely cheesecake. All homemade fresh food and you can taste the difference. Will be back soon.
An English pub with an eclectic and funky decor, good service and excellent food at reasonable prices. My Beer Battered Haddock and Chips, followed by a Baileys Cheesecake were both superb. Highly recommended.
Don't let the traditional pub exterior fool you, walk inside and take a good look around. What lies at the heart of The Butlers Arms is suave, eclectic and creative. Is that a tall backlit top shelf behind the bar? Is that a doll with wings? Is that a vintage hair dryer above a row of passenger airline seats? It may be an enigma, but The Butlers Arms delivers food and drink choices leans towards the traditional. It has great menu offerings. It's focus is on seafood, which has a page dedicated to it. The pick of the dishes for me was the Crispy Turmeric Prawns. The batter was so light and tangy, the prawns so plump. Service was approachable, warm and accurate. The restaurant was packed, but the staff still managed to deliver my orders quickly. A high quality, refreshingly contemporary pub dining experience. Note: this is a dog friendly pub. There were dog owners and water bowls abound in the bar area.
Amazing! The quality of food was incredible and the price was just perfect! Staff were ever so friendly and a big thanks to Rachael on her first shift there! Took a while for food to come but it is all cooked fresh to order! Met with my uncle here as it was in between his house and ours! Really lovely pub, great service and food was beautiful! Highly recommend the pork belly, blade of beef and faggots!
Amazing pub!! We had booked this for a family meal of 10 (incl 2 children) and the service and staff were so accommodating. We all had some form of beef in our meals (Sunday roast, beef fillet, slow cooked blade), there was no trouble in providing kids portions and food was cooked wonderfully. One also had the mussels and she loved it. Picture of the roast beef doesn’t do it justice but it was so well cooked with a huge Yorkshire pudding! Everything was priced very well and the quality was certainly there. Can’t complain about anything, great food, great atmosphere, very lovely service from all the staff members we spoke with and thank you so much for supporting a large group of us. Would highly recommend anyone to go! Thanks again all at The Butlers Arms - great gem in Sutton Coldfield.
Went for dinner whilst staying with a friend. From the outside just looked like a normal village pub, inside was like what a pub should look like, great atmosphere. The food was amazing as was the staff and the service. Will definitely revisit next time I’m in Sutton Coldfield. Recommend to any one looking for a great place to have a meal.
Nice pub 👌 a bit quiet on the two occasions when I went in. But the pint of Blonde went down very nicely and the staff are very friendly, just wink 😉 if you fancy a Blond. Manager gave me a vape pen 🖊 so was grateful for that.
Traditional pub interior with separate bar drinking area and dining area. Good daily menu choice and with specials - those usually seafood based. Good value, well presented, decent portions and very enjoyable. Visited again Sept23 and made very welcome. Excellent food and good wine choice all at very reasonable prices. Probably the best pub/restaurant in Four Oaks/Mere Green area.
Lovely food, friendly staff and good service. Highly recommended and definitely will cone again again and again.
A special treat for a birthday meal. From the start the hard part was picking what to eat such a great choice , delicious and generous portions too. Will definitely be back
Great experience at the Butlers arms. Staff were very attentive and the food was very good.
I found the staff were friendly and humorous when we arrived, we were promptly told about having to sign our car in on a tablet to avoid getting fined in the car park. The environment of the pub seems tasteful with some nice little touches without being over the top. The food was cooked to a good standard, I had a burger and chips while my partner had a tagine (I think...). I found my meal was very tasty while hers was pretty good but lacked a bit of taste in my opinion. While I know chips are only chips.... I found the ones with my meal were the best I've had in a while, very crisp and well seasoned. We also had the holloumi stater which was nice and simple, and not squeaky. I finished off the meal with a rich cookies and cream cheese cake which I really enjoyed, it had a nice texture and sweetness and just the right size to not feel too sickly. Overall we had a very nice evening and look forward to returning.
Great atmosphere in this quirky environment. Staff are friendly, efficient, and professional. The food is really good. Worth a visit if in the area.
Amazing food! Great service.
Unintentional visit, popped in for a drink and we were tempted by the lunchtime menu, ordered 2 fish and chips which were delicious, prompt service and attention from the friendly staff. We'll be back for the fish specials soon.
Just the best restaurant around. Proper beer, delicious fish and great service - what more could you ask for?
Lunch with a friend and we chose a Black Pudding starter followed by Main course Faggots. Very Dudley! Excellent yet we are not from the Black Country. Plus well kept beer. Excellent service and Can't wait to return for more.
After a recommendation from a friend, we ate here on a Saturday evening, mainly to try the fish menu. Not only was the food done really well, seasoned and cooked perfectly, the service was even better. We were looked after by a guy called Tom.....he went out of his way to make sure we (and our fussy eating daughter) were happy with everything; these are the little touches that make all the difference these days and is one of the main reasons that we will definitely be back in the near future. Food + Service = Superb!
Great pub. Great food and lovely staff.
Visited for lunch today with family. It was lovely. Food was fresh and tasty and also reasonably priced. It was cosy and pretty unique inside - Its nice to visit a place that is family run and not a chain. There are babychanging facilities which my partner said were excellent. They also had lovely cask ales on which had obviously been looked after. All in all a great find - we will be back!
Amazing food at very reasonable prices. Special events are outstanding! Great service and cosy atmosphere too.
Amazing service amazing food. Booked a table for 2, had the scallops for starter nice size and tasted delicious. Husband had the crispy duck salad. And a had sea bass. With a gorgeous homemade cherry cheesecake. Have already booked for next week, as the staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.
Absolutely fab dinner tonight. We took my elderly Mom amd she loved it! Mussels and Prawns were delicious. Great service and wine too. We shall be back!
Quirky decor through out this pub including ladies hairdryer seats. Fantastic food not cheap but you get what you pay for.
Had a lovely lunch here today, crusty baguette with filling and chips, lovely quality food at a fair price. nice to support an independent pub
Wonderful greeting and service from the staff. The food was beyond excellent , full of flavours. The black pudding salad topped with a poached egg was a combination I never thought I’d ever try and the sea bass was plentiful and tasty. The only slight downside is that we visited in the evening and the venue felt chilly however this will not stop us visiting again in the near future
We have been here twice this week to celebrate special family occasions, our golden wedding anniversary on Saturday and our grandson's 21st birthday today. On both occasions we have had great service and the food has been excellent! We were a group of 15 on Saturday and 11 tonight and the food has been served to all of us with good timing, nobody had to wait for their meals even though we were a big group. We could not fault anything Saturday was our first experiences of eating here and we enjoyed it so much we went back tonight, we will be going back again!!
Great experience. Welcoming staff and very nice service. Outstanding mussels to start, as good as we've had at our favourite seaside restaurant in Ireland. The king prawns for main were also fantastic. Thank you.
The proprietor Tom & his colleagues were sublime with incredible food & drink! Will definitely visit again :D
Food was ample and lovely. Would definitely recommend the butlers arms for a drink or food.
Excellent meal once again. We live in Essex but come every time we visit family. Wish we lived closer. Thank you Becki & team , the Tornado Rossini steak melted in mouth, delicious
We came to this pub after a great day watching the British Masters golf for my father-in-laws birthday. Welcomed and served by Tom and the team, we enjoyed an exceptional meal. I had the scallops and the sole from the fish menu and Phil had the filet steak. To follow I had the ice cream with port and Phil had the cheeseboard. Each dish was fantastic and matched by the service. We ate on a Saturday evening and wanted to come back the following day - gutted they don’t open Sunday evening. Can’t remember a better meal and can’t recommend highly enough. Outstanding.
We’d been ‘table 8’ before and came back again - it was brilliant, we had whitebait, fish cakes and heritage tomatoes to start - I’d struggle to choose a favourite as they were all superb. We then had the lamb, haddock, hake to follow. Finally cheese selection and crumble - the whole meal was perfect. The food was insanely good, the service was lovely. Cannot wait to return - highly recommended!!! Great wine choices as well xx
Birthday meal for two. We shared a starter of scallops followed by sea bass fillets and the hake fillet. Both main courses were excellent and very tasty. A share cheese board for sweet which had a good selection of cheese but not overwhelming portions. Would definitely recommend and look forward to our next visit
Just had the loveliest evening in this great pub. Absolutely delicious food which came out piping hot. Highest complements to the team, the service was great and nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend!
Best food I’ve had for a very long time. Fresh, homemade, and unique. Well worth the money with excellent portion sizes and the quality to match. Had the black pudding starter which is delicious and then the fisherman’s pie which has a healthy portion of fish and tastes great. 12/10 will be eating here very often.
Nice local family owned pub. Service was pleasant and warm. Food was as expected. Would return. The only issue was there was a lot of waiting between orders and getting food otherwise definitely would get 5 stars
Really good food (calamari a little greasy but hey). Homemade chips and tasty sandwiches. Table service on a nice outdoor patio.
I love this place. Friendly staff, fresh, home cooked meals. Prices have increased ALOT! Though since before COVID. Used to be very reasonable but quite pricey now for a pub lunch. Steak was overpriced at £25 and a bit underwhelming but the steak itself was delicious. The other dishes were all very nice. We had 3 courses. Can recommend the haddock.
lovely food. They don't do children menu but they will do the same menu for kids. Nice crowd. Good food.
We popped into this pub passing through Sutton on a weekday afternoon. It was not busy, given the time, however it is a nice pub. The menu was decent. The only downside was not having a kids menu. Otherwise, nice food and good service.
Great pub. Live music once a month. Good service. Great atmosphere with the music.
On many visits the beers have been good. Also bar snacks have been good. My last visit for a meal in their “restaurant” area was ok but nothing up to expectations based on friend’s reports. Great staff a good service but the general ambiance is poor and the food unexceptional. Noted for fish my partners see bass was generous and well cooked but the accompaniment was poor. My hand made burger seemed more frozen supermarket than restaurant.
Spent over £140, took over two hours, bit skimpy on the fish side of things, veg a little al dente for two of us. Staff were lovely, the "we are independent all our food is cooked fresh" line only works for so long. Sorry
At first it was lovely, further on in the night me and my boyfriend decided to buy two shots as we were celebrating. The bar staff might have been stressed due to the amount of people and slammed the two shots down on the bar surface spilling some of it aswell, after this she said that was it. We were confused and questioned her on what she meant and she said she wouldn’t serve us anymore. We stated this was our first drink from the bar and we were both tipsy at this point but none of us were drunk or slurring words so we were confused by her actions. As this was my first time here it came off extremely rude and made me feel very uncomfortable, due to this we were left angry and it wasn’t the best feeling seeming as it was christmas eve night :( we ended up spending our money somewhere else and enjoying our night. Furthermore i don’t think i will be visiting the butlers arms again which is a shame.
