One of a kind Vietnamese eatery in Birmingham! We visited for my sister’s birthday brunch and it did not disappoint. We went for the brunch combo (perfect for three people) and every dish was packed with bold, delicious flavours. The mention-worthy picks: loaded fries, chicken bao, chicken noodles, and chicken wings—each one bursting with taste and beautifully done. The drinks deserve a special shout-out. The salted iced coffee was spot on, and the marshmallow hot chocolate… honestly one of the best hot chocolates I’ve ever had. So indulgent and comforting. The staff were kind and courteous, and the place itself felt warm, cozy, and welcoming—perfect for a relaxed brunch celebration. Absolutely loved the entire experience and would 100% recommend it.

Ovi our server was fantastic from start to finish. We loved the aesthetic of the place and the speciality drinks , our first time trying Vietnamese coffee and enjoyed it. Would say the cocktails were a little small for the price and would have been nice with a garnish but the food was great. Special shoutout the braised ox stew, it was melt in your mouth tender and was a great recommendation from ovi.

Very nice place - great decor and atmosphere. Service was excellent. The dragon fruit smoothie and caphe sua da were both really nice. The summer rolls came a bit over-packed compared with Vietnam, but the portion of 4 was big and enough for sharing. The sauce supplied seemed to be pure doenjang paste with peanuts on, it rather than the usual chilli style sauce I expected. I asked for that but got Thai chilli sauce instead, which was fine. The phô was very nice! No pile of herbs to put in yourself, but there were enough in the soup when served. All in all, really good and would recommend - but serve the right sauce with the summer rolls, please 😁👍

Sat in Oak at the moment and felt prompted to write a review after hearing the lady next time me say “this is the best coffee I’ve ever had in my life”. This is the second time I’ve been here and the food and drink on both occasions have been incredible! It was a bit busier today so took a little longer to get my drink but my food came out so fast! I ordered the chicken curry and a lychee cocktail. The cocktail, a bit of the small side for the £9 price point was yummy. Just thought it would be more for that city centre price. My curry was absolute perfect. Perfect kick, perfect portion and clearly made with care. Will hopefully be returning before the new year.

Second time visiting Oakcaphe for food and it did not disappoint. Beef pho and beef loaded fries were incredible. Everything is halal which is a bonus. Great service from Ovi too, really attentive. Would highly recommend the drinks too, especially the hot Vietnamese salted coffee and iced

Really enjoyed this place. Tasty Vietnamese food, especially the pho—super satisfying. Clean, simple setup and quick service. A solid go-to for Vietnamese cravings.

Visited for a lunch time snack, no prior knowledge of this place, just walked in off the street. First impressions were good, we were seated quickly by a friendly staff member and offered a menu. The service was relaxed and took a little time before our order was placed, however the waiter took his time to explain some of the items we were less familiar with. The food came quickly and was beautifully prepared and presented. The taste was exquisite and the accompanying sauces were delicious! I would 100% recommend eating here, I will return for more.

Grabbed 4 drinks to go from here this morning. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the coffee tasted amazing. They had some lovely pastries on display too but unfortunately I didn't have the time to try these. Another little gem found in Bearwood, I will definitely be visiting again soon.

I wish I had came to this place earlier! What a gem! Such a beautiful and ambient cafe with loads of seating and outdoor space. We had the Vietnamese Coffee and also their Tuna Toasties and a Dragonfruit smoothie. Everything was delicious and cant wait to visit again!

The food is very fresh and portion size for salad is big enough for one person or even two . I enjoyed the food and will definitely come back

I came here with some friends and we all ordered drinks and desserts. I tried about 5 different drinks and had a cake, every sip and every bite of everything was DELICIOUS. The staff were amazing and the atmosphere was so fabulous. I can’t wait to come back here for lunch and dinner 😍

I've scored 5 stars for each category because they really are that good. The service is second to none an example of this would be when they brought out my main meal while I was still enjoying my starter, they asked me if I wanted them to take it away and prepare a fresh plate when I finished, I said just keep it hot for me but when they brought it back out it was a fresh plate. The food was very fresh and tasty and the helpings were large so we were full and content when we left. Parking is challenging as they are on the main Bearwood road so you do have to find a parking space close by, there are spaces but you do have to plan ahead. The restaurant is small and cosy so is limited on the amount of people they serve so you must book in advance, we booked the day before but if you haven't booked you'll probably be disappointed. As I've said the food is amazing the service is really good and the restaurant is very comfortable, back ground music I particularly liked, soft jazz type music playing in the background that was just the right level to allow normal discussion and actually went a long way in making it feel a higher class restaurant. This will definatly be a restaurant we will be frequenting a lot and introducing our friends and family. Once you stumble across a Gem like the Oak Ca Phe you want to shout about it. Give it a try, I promise you you want be disappointed.

Food was incredible, honestly the best food I've had in the longest time. I had the rice bowl with oyster mushrooms and it was absolute heaven, can't fault it, everything was perfect! Best spring rolls I've ever tried they were melt in the mouth, will definitely be back :)

First time eating in and this place is great! When you walk in you have an array for cakes and pastries beautifully lined out. There is seating further back for table service. They have amazing Vietnamese food, we had the coconut chicken curry, salt and pepper squid and oyster mushrooms. The food was great and the food coming out around us looked fantastic. I’m excited to come back to try other dishes. The staff are friendly and helpful, can’t wait to go back.

Wow. This place is a absolute GEM! Lovely vibe. The food is freshly made and so so good. We went for brunch and some great fusion ideas. I had a chicken croissant. Cannot express how delighted with it I was. Also tired the peach tea which is made on site and was divine. Amazing cafe will definitely be back when in Brum next

Came here to eat for dinner and did not disappoint! The location is well decorated and clean. We had the pho and the Vietnamese curry, both were so good! The chicken wings were literally perfect. Had the chance to chat with the owner who helps with the service too. Very nice and kind man that made us feel very welcome, you can tell he cares about the place and the clients. Would recommend to anyone!

The decor is beautiful and the food even better! One of the group got the chicken coconut curry (MASSIVE - I tried the sauce and it was delicious) while my friend and I did the veggie sharing plates (think we ordered 5 and it was almost too much). The staff were friendly and the service style relaxed. They happily swapped chicken for tofu in the mango salad. The smoothies were tasty, the (white) wine delicious and the beer just right.

What a fantastic new cafe/restaurant!☕️ Ever since my travels in Vietnam, I’ve been absolutely craving a coconut coffee & there’s is almost identical! Really great. The egg coffee was nice, but just needs a bit of work on getting the froth thicker. Dolce latte nice too. Pastries are perfect, absolutely delicious & thoughtfully crafted. Would recommend to everyone & anyone🥰 (Can’t wait to try the day menu!!)

Modern setting with good ambience. Delicious food with impeccable service. We had delicious garlic and chilli wings with summer rolls that were light and refreshing. Then mains was a chicken coconut curry and a fragrant beef Phò. Both delicious and filling!! Finished off with a Carrot cake 😋 Definitely coming again.

Forget any preconceived notions about Bearwood – Oak Ca Phe is a culinary oasis that transports you straight to the heart of Vietnam. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a charming, inviting atmosphere that's both modern and cozy. The decor is spot-on, with tasteful touches of Vietnamese culture woven throughout. The pastry and cake display is a work of art, showcasing an impressive variety of colorful and tempting treats. I couldn't resist trying a couple, and each one was absolutely delicious. Coffee lovers, rejoice! Oak Ca Phe serves up some of the best coffee in the city, rivaling even the most renowned cafes in Sydney. (Just spent three months there, before you ask) The rich, aromatic Coconut coffee is a must-try, but the rest of their coffee range looks equally impressive. Now, let's talk about the food. Simply put, it's outstanding. The menu features a wide range of authentic Vietnamese dishes, each bursting with fresh, vibrant flavors. The pho is a standout, with a fragrant broth that's both comforting and complex. And the Spring Rolls are light, refreshing, and packed with flavor. Despite my initial reservations about the location, Oak Ca Phe has quickly become one of my favorite places in Bearwood. The food, coffee, and atmosphere are all exceptional, and the service is warm and friendly. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or simply looking for a delicious and unique dining experience, I can't recommend Oak Ca Phe highly enough.

So, this Vietnamese coffee shop is seriously amazing! The coffee is top-notch. Let me tell you about the pastries... they're out of this world! The flaky layers and perfect balance of sweetness will have you coming back for more. But it's not just the food and drinks that make this place special. The service is friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. And the cafe itself is absolutely beautiful, with a cozy and inviting atmosphere that's perfect for enjoying your coffee and pastry. Overall, I highly recommend checking out this Vietnamese coffee shop. It's the perfect spot to satisfy your coffee cravings and indulge in some delicious pastries. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! ☕️🍮🌸 Only problem we had is parking! Side roads where ALL permit holders only 😢

What a place! Only been open a few weeks and already a local favourite. The baked goods are amazing, the coffee is delicious and the lunch food menu looks spot on as well. Always a bit of a queue, so you know it’s good and will be worth it when you get to the front. Excited to come back and work my way through the whole menu!

There aren’t a lot of decent Vietnamese cafe/restaurant around Birmingham and this is definite one of them. This place is cozy with lovely decor. Loved both specialty coffees we ordered - Pandan latte if you want to try the authentic taste, and salted coffee for those who don’t have too much of a sweet tooth. Only downside is that you have to queue and order at the till before getting seated, we arrived just after the cafe opened and this created a long queue, would be much better if they offered table service.

I was grateful to visit Oak Ca Phe during their soft launch and I'm glad the wait is over and this Vietnamese place is officially opening its doors. Coffees are unique and amazing, pastries are baked in house and super fresh, the menu is very delicious, colourful and varied. The service was wonderful and staff were very welcoming, so I'm looking forward to making this place a regular go to in Bearwood.

This is a great addition to the high street and we were not disappointed. Upon arrival the place was not too busy and we were seated very quickly which is always a bonus. The menu was not over complicated and the choices were varied. We opted for the salt & pepper squid and spring rolls for starters. The squid was fresh and soft and the springs rolls were devoured with ease. For mains we had the chicken pho, beef pho, slow cooked beef stew and beef vietnamese coconut curry. The pho was very filling and the taste was on point. The slow cooked beef was amazing and so soft that I would try this again. The curry was also very tasty. All in all it was good experience and have no issues in coming back again. The staff are also very friendly. Keep up the good work guys!!

Lovely chilled restaurant and cafe. It’s has a modern and relaxed vibe, and a great selection for Vietnamese food full of flavour from herbs and spices. We had the Pho, summer rolls, chilli wings, Vietnamese ice coffee and beer Saigon and was a delightful! Didn’t have the pastries as was so full but wow they looked tempting. Will def be back!

First time dining at the Oak Cafe and we’ve had such a great experience! The food was insanely good, some of the best Vietnamese food we’ve had in Birmingham. And Cristina our server was so lovely, especially as it was her first day. It felt like she’s been working there for ages. Great playlist as well! Will 100% recommend it to our friends and come back.

I enjoyed a hot salted Vietnamese style coffee then my Sister had a Dolce Latte which was also delicious. We also shared a slice of pistachio & chocolate cake. Again absolutely exquisite. We highly recommend Oak Ca Phe

We were so excited when Oak opened near us and it didn’t disappoint. Their Vietnamese coffee is robust, distinct and never flat. The food has improved so much since they started, in fact it’s our usual stop when we want great tasting consistently delicious food. Gojuchang eggs are crazy. The ambience is modern and just as tasty as the food 😜 The service is always friendly and relaxed. Parking is available around the corner and is cheap. Try out Oak Caphe you cannot be disappointed. No constructive criticism at all except please bring back the fresh cream pastries, please!

This is a great addition to Bearwood High Street, I've visited a few times and never been disappointed, neither have any of my friends (I keep recommending the place). It's a versitile spot where you can just drop in for a coffee and pastry, or stay for brunch/ lunch. Food and coffee is delicious as are the pasteris. Service is always friendly and helpful too.

Food, service, atmosphere 100%. From 1st to last mouthful I was excited. Best ever spring rolls. Oak loaded fries. I'm in love. My new favourite place. Ovi is the best. Attentive, knowledgeable and funny. Thanks Ovi. X

A cozy restaurant with some great staff, nice food and excellent coffee. I had a hot Pandan latte which is absolutely my favourite one ever in Birmingham. About the food, I am quite sure the spring rolls are not the one you can find in the Chinese supermarket, I guess they made them. The only thing I was not satisfied is the coconut peanut curry is a bit salty.

Y
Yu-Ching (Frances)

Good food and Vietnamese coffee. I like coconut latte. It was with the coconut ice cream. A bit sweet but the ice ones were good. The phe was nice and fresh. Spring rolls were crispy and delicious inside. Was waiting for the food to be served a while due to the weekend, plus their restaurant usually was busy. Probably it is really popular.

Upon entering this charming café, I was greeted with a warm and genuine welcome from the attentive staff, setting a positive tone for the visit. The interior’s design exudes a blend of modern elegance and cozy comfort, creating an inviting atmosphere that’s both visually appealing and relaxing. Perusing the menu, I opted for the slow-cooked beef stew, accompanied by steamed rice and a side of spring rolls. The stew was a triumph, its rich, hearty flavors melding seamlessly with tender chunks of beef, each bite offering a comforting depth that suggested careful preparation. The spring rolls, crisp and golden, delivered a satisfying crunch and a burst of fresh flavors that complemented the meal beautifully. Following the main course, I indulged in an iced coffee paired with a pistachio-flavored circular croissant. The croissant’s delicate layers were buttery and flaky, with the pistachio adding a subtle, nutty sweetness that elevated the pastry to something truly memorable. While the prices may not cater to the budget-conscious, the quality and presentation justify the occasional splurge, with the bill totaling just over £30. The café itself is impeccably maintained, with cleanliness evidently a priority. Though not an everyday stop, it serves as a delightful retreat for those moments when a touch of indulgence is in order.

Lovely place, good food and amazing atmosphere, staff was really lovely. I got the beef pho and I really enjoyed it. Enjoyed myself so much thanks to my server Ovi, had us laughing the whole time and made our experience 10x better. Would definitely recommend.

The curry wasn’t the best one I’ve had it lacked a lot of flavour in my opinion but presentation was pretty and the spring rolls was really greasy and wasn’t keep on the filling. The chicken wings were the highlight and I’d definitely be back for them and the kids pho was actually tasty, also the fresh juices are also really good!

K
Kay

I like the modern interior design. The food was OK. The garlic and chili chicken wings were nice, not necessarily spicy. The spring rolls were very oily and disappointing. The egg coffee was also disappointing, not very creamy or frothy. The service was prompt and the food came very quickly.

A

The service is really good and the decor is gorgeous. Got there at 11:20 on a Sunday and the pastries either ran out or were not available. We had the ban mi and crayfish slider. The bread on the Ban mi was so hard and stale and made the whole eating experience unpleasant. The other fish was okay, quite flat in flavour though. My Americano was very bitter and cold too. So all in all, not the best. But as I mentioned great atmosphere and music!

I visited this cafe with my sister on Saturday. We arrived at 11:45 and the cafe was already quite full. We managed to get a table after waiting aimlessly near the entrance as we were unsure if we'd be seated or if we could go in and sit down ourselves. Once we got a table and decided what we wanted to order my sister joined the queue to order our food and drinks. However, she was told that someone would come to take the order so she sat back down. We waited for five minutes and no one came so I asked one of the waitresses. She said that someone would be with us soon but we waited a further five to ten minutes and we were only served when I asked again. It was a bit of a wait for the food to arrive but we didn't mind as it was all freshly made and delicious. We did have to ask several times for cutlery too. We ordered the egg coffee on our way out which was also very nice but too small of a portion size for the amount you are paying. We would have ordered pastries also but there was nothing left by then. Overall, a nice place with good food but the service and organisation is what's letting it down. The staff are friendly but don't really know what they are doing. Maybe it's early days and these are some of the teething issues they have to sort out. I would visit again and make sure I go early in the morning so I can sample some of the sweet pastries.

Excellent customer service; brunch was enjoyable; beef pho was good. Oyster mushroom rice and drinks was not bad. Spring roll wasn’t cooked through—the vegetables were still cold and it tasted oily, it hadn’t fried long enough.

L

Honestly not great. The interior is warm, comfortable, great atmosphere and decor. However, the food and staff were not great. The service is more EDGE than 5G, very slow, even when not super busy. Even basics like a glass of water took over half an hour. The food was OK, nothing remarkable. The egg coffee was delicious! Made perfect. And I have to say there's such a wide variety of food on offer and there may have been better options.

K
Kata Skupien

The food was very average. The fries were too crispy and dry, fish quite good; pho soup tasteless but had some chilly hot powder in it and was way too hot. The juice had some crushed ice at the bottom and wasnt pleasant too drink, and king prawns were nice but quite oily. No gluten free options.

I visited around midday with two of my other friends, one of which had a newborn baby. We only ordered an iced coffee and croissant to go. The female barista took our order and proceeded to serve customers that were dining in which was fine, we waited. It wasn’t that busy however, she took her time and was in no rush to serve us! She could see we had a baby with us that was getting fussy. Two other customers came in who ordered drinks to go and she served THEM before us? Again, taking her time! She eventually served us and we couldn’t see why she had made us wait that long? The only factor that came to our heads was because we were visibly South Asian Muslims. Everyone she decided to serve before us were NOT. We left feeling like we had been racially targeted. Will not be visiting again. Not worth it for a mediocre coffee and croissant! Response to Oak Ca Phe - We visited on 19th September between 1.30pm and 2.30pm. I can’t remember the exact time.
