Super fun and chilled out place, We were dancing for quite some time here. They have interesting cocktails . The line for the bathroom gets longes in during midnight!!
Loved it. Great happy hour, terrific location and with the weather getting warmer, why not sit outside. And they have the appropriate decor including a reproduction of the Edward Hopper painting which shares its name with the bar.
This was a really great place! The service was amazing and drinks were fantastic. The bartender was great...even though my friend was definitely being a drunk idiot. She handled it with grace, which I definitely appreciated.
Had an amazing time at this place! The bartenders are awesome and nice and super quick with a mixture of quality goodness when making those delicious cocktails! Definitely going to have a round 2 soon!
Nighthawk was great!! Appreciate Jason for great hospitality and amazing drinks
Outstanding cocktails, bar service, and vibe! The owners are super friendly, checking in on patrons. This place is my new go to!!
Nothing bad to say about this place. Always excellent service, great drinks. Too bad they gave up their food items, I thought they were great.
Lively bar to get the night started. Solid drinks. Pretty popular on the weekends. Only has one bathroom which can develop a line.
Great cocktails and staff. Tuesday is lab night and you can sometimes catch them fusing cordials and bitters. Masters at work!
Love coming here to relax over drinks. Atmosphere is chill and not too loud so you can still converse.
Awesome drink selection and great after work spot in Redwood City. Can get quite loud when it's crowded, but otherwise an awesome place to bring friends.
Great drinks, location and ambience. Friendly and skilled bartenders
It was great I liked the music and the drinks are great. It's very good to enjoy and have a good time.
Wonderful! First of all, the cocktails are amazing. ...and don't get me started on the tacos!!!!!!!!!! Food is lit! Esteban made everyone feel like family, and the staff was just amazing! When I come back with my company I now know where we are going to hit up first!!
Great place for a team happy hour. Plenty of seating and places to stand including an outside seating area right in front.
Love the cocktails. Nice to sit outside on a summer day and people watch
Jason made some drinks. Good music-not too loud. Excellent Vieux Carre and Penicillin.
Really good drinks, nice atmosphere, and nice seating outside. On the weekend, it’s worth it to go early (around 8) if you want to grab a table. It gets really busy quite quickly. Try the transparent mermaid and after hours, both great drinks.
I love the ambience, drinks and bartenders here! It’s the cutest place, absolutely love the decor, and the transparent mermaid is my favorite! I mixed it up tonight- tried the Specials “Millie and “Spice it up”! Yummm!!
Best spot in redwood city for coffee or a cocktail. They serve Ritual coffee which is one of the best coffees (roasted in SF). THIS PLACE IS A MUST FOR EITHER A COCKTAIL, COFFEE OR TACOS(Steak, Shrimp, Chicken, Vegan)
Good collection of cocktails with great atmosphere and nice music.Usually busy on the weekends and gets busier around 9 and they have live dj sometimes.Try the Lolita it’s a great drink.
Nice bar! They don’t have any food, but you can order from any next door place no problem
Best bar on the strip. Bartenders are amazing, friendly, and got our drinks right away. Must try Spanish gin & tonic with vodka ( recommended by a reg and I was really impressed with the drink).

Delicious, thoughtful cocktail menu. Super chill vibe on week nights, with a club-like atmosphere on Friday/Saturday nights. If you want a library level of noise on party nights, you perhaps should stay home. The bartenders are super attentive and really want to make sure that you feel seen and enjoy your drinking experience. Kennedy is an absolute delight - she and CJ are a dynamic bartending duo sure to make your experience memorable.
Amazing atmosphere and experience all around! Came with a group of friends and the service was attentive and efficient. The bartenders were lively and very fun to have conversation with. Cocktails were beautifully balanced and unique-The music was on point and energy of the whole street was vibrant. Definitely will be coming back!!

Great vibe, friendly staff. Hit or miss service but a solid craft drink menu. Beer options good. Part of library beer crawl. Solid/recommended.
Decent spot, good vibe. Wasn't the biggest fan of the cocktail I got, but perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. Same owner as Blacksmith, but I prefer Blacksmith to here
The Nighthawk is pretty small on the inside and felt really tight and cramped. I got an entire beer spilled on me due to someone having a little too much and the sheer lack of space. Fortunately I was wearing my raincoat 😂 Also, to the bartenders credit they ran over with a bunch of napkins. Overall I like the vibe they had a live dj playing music that was good and the drinks were good as well. I just wished it was a little quieter because it was hard to talk, because the noise was club level, but the atmosphere was "sit with your drinks and chat with your friends" level.

Think I got scammed at this place. Granted the entertainment on a Saturday night was quite good but definitely some shady characters hanging out here in my opinion.
Stopped by Nighthawk prior to waiting for a table at Mazra. Sat at the table for a bit but ended up ordering drinks directly at the bar. Staff didn't seem too friendly when we visited. They were out of the hazy IPA I wanted, so ended up just getting wine for ~$16 a glass. It was weird to get charged a 4% credit card free, and didn't see any signage. Parking is tough in the area. I parked in the parking structure nearby.

I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere.I joined a friend there for a drink before dinner. I found it odd that my drink was $8.79 (cash) and my friend's drink was an even $8 cash. Why did my drink have tax? We ordered the exact drink. I questioned the female bartender ( I was going to tip her $2) but she did not appear to appreciate my inquiry. Did anyone else get taxed on his drink when paying cash? I can understand a surcharge on a credit card.
When nighthawk first opened, it was awesome. A dark, moody, and intimate cocktail bar - a perfect spot for a drink on a date night. The 1930s era art deco decor, red leather seats, and iconic namesake painting above the bar made for a really cool space. For whatever reason, they've decided to pivot from the cozy cocktail bar concept to a loud night club vibe instead. Starting around 5pm most nights, they blast their music so incredibly loud that you can't even have a conversation with the people you're there with. The bartenders even struggle to hear people's drink orders. I'm not sure why they would do this, since the bar right across the street, "the Blacksmith" (same owners) is already known for being the loud, clubby spot on the block. Nighthawk was a great change of pace from that, but not anymore. It's virtually the same as the Blacksmith now and has lost pretty much all of its charm. Maybe one day they'll turn the music down and return to the original concept, I'll be happy to go back if that ever happens.

Check your posted statements after you pay. They added extra to my bill (I’m assuming adjusted tip) . That’s the reason for the lower review. The vibe is nice otherwise.
Bar and bartenders are excellent. $66 for a shot of whistle pig rye is wayy6yy overpriced. Its still just redwood city. Not Paris or London.
Check your credit card statement after you leave! I used to like going here for cocktails until one of the bartenders added a 20% tip on top of the tip I already gave him. His manager didn’t apologize and even defended him, saying it was a mistake. The numbers he added weren’t even close to each other. She removed the extra charge but didn’t offer any compensation to make up for the credit card fraud or hassle. I’ve read similar complaints about this bar, so definitely wasn’t an accident. On top of that there’s only 1 unisex restroom for a bar that often gets crowded.
2.5 stars, rounded down. Mishmash of an environment: Seating is set up for chatting, but music is ridiculously loud + Looks nice inside, but tables outside are rundown and unstable. Also, lots of shady men who just hang around outside trying to pick up women

Awful bartender. Just wanted to make money and instantly threatened to call the police without even discussing the incorrect charges he put on. I think his name is Jason.
Music is loud ruined the entire atmosphere of Broadway Street.
Extremely loud music ruining the ambience of the wonderful food street
Wow! If only I could give -5 stars. Wife and I walked in, wanted to order a drink the bartender asks for a wrist band and I say what? He says it's a private event. I say fine but they literally started to push us out. I couldn't even figure out what's going on. Was it our accent? Most likely. To the management : if you are having a private party, make sure you place a sign in the front, seems to be more efficient than your bouncers. It's also free. Teach your staff to respect guests regardless of their background. And if someone accidentally enters your private event it's not a crime. I know we all want to run Studio 54, but your bartender at least needs to know what a Whiskey sour with egg white is. To start. Good luck.
Well DON'T come here if you want to have a fun night. Totally rude staff. We are locals and literally had been coming here for years to celebrate our girlfriends birthdays. That night we were probably one third of the bars revenue as it was pretty dead and we brought a fun crowd. We got alot of drinks 🍸 and brought a few small cupcakes on a tray with candles and tossed a bit of confetti when my dear friend blew out the candles. After I went to socialize and when I came back the table was cleared and tray gone. I asked the bartender/owner? If he had found a tray and he had literally thrown it in the garbage!! Mind you this is not a disposable item. I've used it for years taking snacks to my children. It had sentimental value. But ok no biggie but he Totally gave me big time attitude saying the confetti, which was not alot btw. Was too much and giving me the worse vibes ever!! Umm I'm sorry you probably already have to mop and sweep as your normal clean up. Just brought such a downer to the night when it's a place that you go to enjoy. They also said a DJ was coming and none ever showed up. Drinks are expensive so go support someplace that is happy to have your business
Well, how do I begin. I had the most humiliating experience at this place last night. My fiancé and I got a table here and were joined later by 2 other friends. We then decided to move outdoors as the weather was great. I was 2 drinks down and I wanted to use the restroom. There was an Asian lady bouncer at the entrance who stopped me. The music was really loud and she repeatedly said something which I couldn’t hear but later figured it was something on the lines of me dropping her stuff and that I didn’t apologize. The moment I realized I dropped her stuff I immediately apologized and picked up her pen. By no means did I do it cos I was too drunk to know what was happening around me. (This can be proven since we spoke to another bar tender later who said I seemed fine and he was not sure why she wouldn’t let me enter). The issue was her unexpected outburst. She said very rudely I could not enter the bar when I was at that place for almost 2 hours. I was in shock and went to explain this to my friends. We went back in to talk to her and she started screaming and yelling and asking us to back off and holding torches to our faces. Was it our background? Our accent? Or just general hate. Irrespective of them all, we are customers at the end of the day and do not deserve to be treated the way we were. The funny part is I loved the vibe of this place and the drinks were on point. Thanks to her, never returning again.
Door girl was great, but because of bartender I turned around and left… Worst service I’ve experienced, not only is US, but worldwide… Bartender was rude and instead of proposing something for me to drink was trying to prove me what’s whiskey, what’s scotch and what’s bourbon… No wonder bar was pretty empty on Saturday night…
This bar had the loudest music and worst dj, they did not respect all the other customers request to turn down the music that came for a nice ambiance at the restaurants in this really family forward food street.
My boyfriend and I have been going to this place the past few Sundays for a drink after dinner, and it has been fun up until last night. The bartender thought I was walking in with my service dog (which I’m allowed), and even before I was able to approach him and come in he yelled out and started making signs that my dog was not allowed and to get out. He was absolutely rude, and it was not ok for him to approach a patron in that manner. There are better ways to do it.

Ruining the atmosphere of the food street. Families come here and they are blasting their music super loudly. It's disturbing, they can easily contain the music inside but it's really loud and ruining the vibe of the family friendly street
