Opinions de The Blacksmith Redwood City
A great place to grab an after work cocktail with friends or coworkers. Located on the pedestrian mall section of Broadway, the Blacksmith offers indoor and outdoor seating. Great cocktails and friendly service!
Good selection of whiskey and scotch. Simple dark interior and bar plus healthy pour volume make for a pleasant Sat afternoon drink session.
Dig this place. The bartenders are friendly. I enjoy the outside sitting area and the ability to take a couple puffs in the open air. 😉 with no interruptions. Plus it really has a low key cool atmosphere.
Great cocktails, love the outdoor seating. The cocktails didn't entirely live up to the descriptions on the menu. It seemed like slightly more care and precision could have gone into the preparation, but I was still happy with the drink.
The place was rockin' Friday night with a good crowd and lots of energy! Came with several colleagues after our office Holiday Party, taking up part of the outdoor seating. A great time was had by all and felt bad for having to leave early. The Negroni was the bomb!
Got a key lime cocktail (recommend!!) And a pink one that I can't remember the name of. Excellent music selection, TV's with basketball, and a fireplace. The place is definitely popular, but at 6:30 pm on a weeknight, it was just enough people to make it feel lively. Plus there's outdoor seating!
I started with their old fashion. I can say I really enjoyed it. The crowd is a late 20s early 30s trendy crowd. Music is pretty good. The lights are dimmed low and there is outdoor seating. I ended with one of their signature cocktails which had bourboun, chocolate liqour, and cocoa bitters which was a great night cap.
Great bar. They do AMFs if you ask. Bartender was super nice. Great if you're looking for outdoor seating. They gave me a fantastic 21st birthday without all the crazy Happy Birthday attention. 9/10 recommend.
Favorite bar I hit up while visiting the San Francisco area. I thought drinks were kinda pricey till I realized I wasn't in Utah anymore and oz to oz what I'm spending in Utah it's about the same as the small town bar I work at here. Nice outdoor area with cool tables. Just have to leave your drink in the outdoor area and smoke next to it to smoke but whatever.
Bartender was on point and quick. Bar was not that busy. Had maybe 15-20 people. Tv had the football games on. Wish the place had snack or small appetizers or something. Also be aware that theirs the only two gender neutral bathrooms. One person per bathroom. The restaurants across are nice and let you use the bathroom. Kind of ridiculous that I have to pay $7.5 for a glass of Modelo.
Blacksmith stands out for its reinvigorated look and fresh vibe. The bar and lounge is covered in sleek, dark decor with leather banquettes, a brick fireplace, and sports on TV. Despite its high end look, the cozy ambience makes you feel right at home. Blacksmith boasts a seasonal and regular menu, which include draught beers, regular and sparkling wines, bottled beers, and even Red Bull. All drinks are $3 for happy hour. Their signature drink, the Blacksmith Gimlet, is a must-have. It puts a new spin on the classic gin and lemon juice recipe by adding St. Germain elderflower liqueur with a garnish of fresh basil. Apart from a few bar snacks, Blacksmith does not serve food, but it’s convenient spot in the heart of downtown means there are plenty of options nearby.
Great atmosphere and lovely place to hang out with friends. There was a mix up with the credit card I used for the tab and the staff handled the issue swiftly and professionally. I was very impressed. Will definitely come back and highly recommend!
Great service nice atmosphere...they don't sell food...it's a Bar....Great guys
Their drinks look awesome. The bartender (she is also a manager) made good drinks for us. We liked them, however the alcohol percentage was a little bit high for us.
A good, causal happy hour bar in Redwood City. I would highly recommend the Old Fashioned. They have great drinks on the menu that I would recommend. If you get there for happy hour, you get $3 off.
Incredible margaritas that are always constantly great! Ambiance is perfect for after work drinks or meet ups. Indoor and outdoor seating (heaters included).
Love a place where the bartender (s) explore their craft in making drinks. I love going here and ask the bartender to create a drink for me. Each drink has been amazing. Keeps me returning!!
Went here for my birthday and was well taken care of! Tasty cocktails and great ambiance

It's a nice bar in Redwood City. Music is alright too.
I don’t have any photos to share, but I’ve been to this bar a few times and really enjoy the atmosphere. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The DJ comes on at 9:30 on Fridays and Saturdays, and there’s no cover charge. The vibe is casual, the music is mainly hip-hop, and they offer a good variety of cocktails. Overall, it’s a solid spot to hang out.
I must say Laren is always a pleasure to come in and talk to ..she knows my lavender special gin drink and it always is perfect .I enjoy coming on and seeing her and having good conversation
Michelle, Marvin, German and the whole bar staff are generous and accommodating. This is a nice atmosphere and the bartenders serve quality drinks. Highly recommend for a place in Redwood City.
I had a great experience and a great drink. I don’t drink alcohol like that so I asked about mocktail options. My bartender was Loren and she was super friendly and very knowledgeable with the drink options. She ended up making me a mocktail that was pineapple and vanilla based! It was so good!!! I will definitely be back again for another and another lol
Blacksmith is easily one of the best spots in downtown Redwood City if you’re looking for a great cocktail and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff truly make the place stand out—they’re attentive, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. From the moment you walk in, you feel taken care of, with bartenders who are happy to recommend drinks and take the time to craft them perfectly. The service never feels rushed, even when the bar gets busy, and the team does a fantastic job making everyone feel like a regular. It’s the kind of place where the excellent staff and thoughtful service keep you coming back.
Loren at Blacksmith in Redwood City delivered the first truly great cocktail I’ve had since moving to the Bay; balanced and thoughtful. Her service is genuinely warm and friendly, and it's clear she cares about hospitality. She's already made me a regular.
Me and a couple friends were driving through and we walked into blacksmith to check it out. Had a couple beers each and had great service from our bartender Laren. We had a good time . Next time we pass through we'll definitely stop by.

SF vibe in RWC, Kickass drinks, Warm environment ! Drinks: Opening Act: Rum with burnt orange peel. Must have, class act — 5/5 The First whiskey drink in cocktail menu: Pretty crafty, a whiskey connoisseur would love it while Others would enjoy too — 4/5 Ask for the bartender John (famous for recommending the right drink)
One of my go to places to get a good drink in the Redwood City downtown corridor. The outdoor patio has heat lamps so you can be out there if its full inside. The only negatives is that there is no food served there. If you are hungry, either get cheese its that they have or go to the other good restaurants in the Redwood City downtown area.
This bar is fantastic, especially on weekdays when it's less crowded. It's a perfect spot for a relaxed drink and chat with friends. On weekends, it gets very busy and sometimes has a cover charge. For a chill experience, I definitely recommend going during the week.
Had a few drinks there. Good location, the person at the bar was very friendly. Poured extra wine which was good value for money. Will definitely go there again.
A smaller bar with great drinks. Seating is limited, but there is outdoor seating with heat lamps which makes for a comfortable area. Staff were very friendly. Music was blasting inside, even at 8pm, making it almost impossible to hear. By 10pm the place was packed shoulder to shoulder. They will open up a tab for you earlier in the evening but close it at about 9pm and make you open one at the bar. The wait for drinks got quite bad - about 20 mins to get to the front. No food menu which we were disappointed about. Patrons were mixed but mostly in their 20s and 30s.
Great atmosphere with really tasty and interesting cocktails, but the place is almost always packed and loud. I enjoy coming here with a friend or two, but any more than that and it'd be nearly impossible to hear one another. Still, a nicely decorated bar worth quality drinks.
Great atmosphere, well managed and pretty good drinks, only downfall for me is the music being a bit too loud inside where you have a hard time ordering drinks inside. Overall a good hang out spot
An awesome cocktail bar in downtown RWC. They have a few craft beers on tap, friendly bartenders and a great atmosphere but it's the cocktails that keep me coming back. The cocktail staples change seasonally, lean strong and away from sweet - the bartenders really know their stuff and on a quieter weekday evening will take their cues from you and mix up something special if you ask nice. If there's one minor shortcoming, it is that the bar doesn't serve food at all - even olives, or small bar snacks would go a long way. The interior is a little dark but they have a sunny outdoor space that looks onto the street which is perfect for people watching on a warm evening.
Great food and service. Unfortunately a bit too loud even far from the band... Great for party dancing, but not so much for talking during a date.
Beautiful atmosphere but it took a long time to get drinks ordered. When we finally got the bartender's attention one round, we just ordered beer instead of cocktails so it would be quicker. Still, a great bar and I'd go back.
Great cocktails, got a classic margarita (always a safe place to start) and a French 75. The bartender was super nice.
Stopped by for a nightcap post dinner. The only real bar in the entire main drag, but little else. Gets livelier as the rest of the street shuts down by 9am. The draft beers we tried tasted fresh and flavorful. Nice seating inside and on the curb.
Awesome drinks, and the bartenders are clearly knowledgeable and passionate. Only bummer is no food options. Atmosphere is fun, they're always packed, and nice indoor/ outdoor seating options.

Maybe it always an off day but the drinks were off. The vesper was still good but the others just were off.

Decent bar with a patio. The bartenders can make great drinks but sometimes they have an attitude and the waitresses can be a bit pushy or aloof but not attentive. They also don't have a happy hour.
It’s a cocktail bar but just barely. It’s not a high end cocktail lounge with a menu to creative fancy concoctions but it’s a great place for a martini or a gin and tonic.
Fun cocktail bar with plenty of outdoor seating. Had a couple of drinks here that contained good and quality ingredients, if haphazardly thrown together due to the crowds and pressure on the bar. The ratios were basically correct, but more attention would have improved them greatly (don't care if it takes longer!) One drink our group ordered that was obviously incorrect (i.e., clearly missing a key ingredient) we returned to the bar, and the bartender actually tried to *talk my friend out of it* by saying 'no, that's how it's supposed to taste.' I understand being short on time, but in this case, I don't think there would ever be a good reason to resist remaking it or making something new. Otherwise, come here if you want a fun night out with dancing. Maybe stick to a G&T if you don't want to be disappointed.
I think this is a pretty cool place all in all. The music was good and the drinks were okay. I need/want to go back for some of their specialty cocktails. I was only there for 5 minutes to have a quick drink.
The Old Fashioned was good, however, the glass was dirty. Music was very loud and they were not busy, compared to the surrounding restaurant/bars. Took 10 minutes for the bartender to make two cocktails.
Cocktails were not good this time unfortunately, but it’s nice inside to sit. Nighthawk across the street does much better cocktails, at least on a weeknight
If you're looking for good cocktails this isn't the spot. We went with high expectations based on reviews, but the quality was closer to "dive bar" than mixology.

Terrible..terrible..terrible. I initially came in with a group of mates last week on weekday and we waited 30minutes to be asked what we wanted on an empty bar. No customer service at all! Some short darker skinned girl, she seemed new because she had no idea what she was doing, was bartending, and she took so long to make our drinks. Not only that, she was rude, and conversed like we were a burden at the bar. All we wanted were some drinks. No attitude was needed. Ambience was decent, had nice interior. Definitely go to another bar if your in the area, San mateo has way better repor and service. I will not be spending my money hear again.
On Saturday it was extremely crowded while bar hopping. I didn’t see the security guard as I was walking in, and instead of using his voice to guide me, he forcefully shoved me. That kind of physical contact was unnecessary and unacceptable. Security is supposed to keep people safe, not intimidate them. Please retrain your staff on proper crowd control and de-escalation. No guest should be pushed when simple communication would have handled the situation.
