Had a perfect date night meal here. The pork mignon is easily the best pork I think I have ever had. The jus around it was insane! So delicious. Also started with both raw and fried oysters that were fantastic. Kitchen was a little slow, but it was a busy Friday night. Our server Rachel was also really great, super hospitable and gave us great reccos. Thanks!!
This is a wonderful little bistro with a nice menu variety and warm service.
Went for a drink and ended up having dinner at the bar. We both had the hanger steak cooked medium. The steak came exactly as we ordered and was tender and flavorful. The portion size was perfect and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. I would highly recommend this place.
A staple of the area and with good reason. I sat at the bar, the bartender took great care of me. Even though I came right before closing, there was no rush and the service was relaxed as ever. She gave me her recommendations which I try and always follow. The monkfish was out of this world, sublime preparation and a lovely sauce to finish. Certainly on my list to return to!
I love this restaurant. The strip steak is the best in the entire area. The creme bruelee is to die for! The waiters, waitresses and hostesses all work together so service is exceptional. Yes its kind of pricey but the meal is always good and never disappointing.
My wife and I shared some oysters, a salad, a French onion soup, and the pork mignion. Everything was good but the pork was outstanding perhaps the best pork we had ever had. The service was also top notch. We sat at the bar and Paula and Franchesca made us feel right at home we will definitely be coming back again!
Consistent, Delicious, Professional, High End but totally worth it! I've been cooking and eating in and out a long time and came here way back. It is even better. The staff is delightful, sweet but efficient. The food is not overseasoned delicious but great ingredients well prepared delicious. Meticulous. The raw bar is the best I've experienced in a long time. Korean tuna, suberb steaks, moist schnitzel, bright salads, oysters, creme brulee, all in a great vibe space! Sound level can loud when crowded. Outside dining available
We've lived in Rhinebeck for 18 years now and go to the Bistro on a regular basis. It's our favorite restaurant in the Hudson Valley. We've never been disappointed by a meal there. The staff is skilled and the level of service is excellent. The food is fresh, local, seasonal and expertly prepared. Their newly expanded and restored space has become one of the cornerstones of the village. Love this place.
The best mussels I have ever had! Fantastic food and wonderful service- best food in Rhinebeck.
We had a delightful dinner here tonight. We ordered Sardines, French Onion Soup, Harvest Salad, Salmon, Burger, Scallops and two cocktails. We wanted to order a dessert but didn’t have room left. Chef Joseph is very talented and his food is delicious The restaurant is very clean and tastefully decorated. The staff is very attentive and professional. Chef Joseph and Jennifer are amazing hosts! We are happy that we drove from Albany and it was worth the trip! Get off the couch and go experience this fine restaurant! We will be back!
Went there twice while staying in Rhinebeck with my partner for a few days Staff is very welcoming and attentive. The food is absolutely amazing! We had both brunch & dinner- we ‘ll be back for sure! Worth trying! 🤩
We dined here this past spring on recommendations from a colleague, and we had a wonderful experience. Mussels, Caesar, French onion soup, steak. It was all delicious, perfectly executed. Service was really impressive, too. Very gracious, and I've never had a better timed meal. And the ambiance: it was kind of magic on that weekday night as I recall. Really enjoyed this place. Will definitely return on the next trip to the Hudson Valley.
We were in Rhinebeck for a getaway weekend and thought that Sunday Brunch at Le Petit Bistro was the perfect end to our time. We were not disappointed. The service was top-notch, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was both respectful of the history of the location and yet upscale and welcoming. We had a wonderful time and even added a pistachio-orange scone to go for our drive home. Highly recommended, make a reservation and go! PS For fans of Three Pines, the books and the series, we were reminded of Olivier's Bistro -- in a very good way.
What a wonderful find. The restaurant is cozy, not too loud, great food, and wonderful attentive service. We both had a schnitzel special and shared a big salad before, with wines by the glass. The food was flavorful and they were happy to make one small change due to a food allergy. Will definitely return when we are in the area
First time here. Had best French onion soup here, so much better than those places with *s, tasty, not too salty, but with flavors. The oysters are so fresh, escargot is delicious too!
My husband and I frequently dine at this wonderful bistro. There are no words that can adequately express how much we love the fine selection of wine, beverages, appetizers and entrees that are offered. My hubby loves the oysters, and we both adore the steak tartar. The selection of entrees is also great - one night they served amazing fried chicken, another night it was sublime duck, steak, or wonderful scallops. The desserts are wonderful - my husband loves them, and even though I cannot eat them due to my lactose intolerance, there is always a great selection of home made sorbets. Last Sunday, 11/01/20, I had grapefruit sorbet and it was delish. What makes this place even more wonderful are the staff! I can't say enough about them other than that they exemplify customer service, professionalism and warmth. In these crazy times, that means the world. Thanks so much!!!!!
Our friends joined us for dinner to celebrate my Brides birthday. The place is beautifully done and we were pampered by the entire staff. Our waitress Jess, was incredible!! She answered all questions and was especially personable and made the evening a memorable one. However, she was outdone by our dinners. My Bride and I had the Pork Chop and Pork Schnitzel dinners. I completely cleaned my plate and Jess wrapped my Brides so she could enjoy it tomorrow. (Which she did!!) We will be back and highly recommend this restaurant!!
Always my first meal when I’m in Rhinebeck. Jessica and team are an absolute delight!! Steak frites is my go-to - and spring for a bottle of wine; you won’t regret it ☺️
Had a delicious 29 year anniversary dinner with a super friendly and helpful server, Jackson. Everything was so tasty and everyone we came into contact with was very kind and polite. Highly recommend!! (They even surprised us with ice cream for our anniversary) will definitely be coming back!
Beautiful bistro, with outstanding service and delicious french food. Truly a great meal. Highly recommend!!
5 stars for the food, service (Jessica was our waitress) and decor. Fried oysters, fish tacos, and mussels were great starters. We then shared entrees of steak, cod, and veal. All were delicious. The steak was exceptionally good!
Hadn’t been here for a while and I forgot how amazing the food is. Truly exceptional meal always and great service. Had the duck and steak frities. Just amazing.
What a pleasant evening with my friend! We started with cocktails the Cigarillos and then the French onion soup and fried oysters, followed by the Prime NY Strip Steak and the Lamb Saddle. This was our first time here and it was flawless. Our service was top notch with Bailey, Rachel, Gage, and Jackson! They have incredible teamwork! What a wonderfull Bistro!!!
The most exquisite dinner I have had in a long time. The place is cozy and romantic, intimate without feeling cramped. The service is amazing and the chef knows what they are doing. Everything was cooked to perfection. Took my mother here for her birthday and we had a wonderful, memorable evening. I will be back often. We were having too much fun to stop and take pics of the food until we got to dessert. Dessert, BTW, was hard to choose, everything is house made. YUM.
We were welcomed immediately with a friendly face without a reservation and seated within 10 minutes. Food was excellent and service was also. Will definitely be back. Highly Recommend!!!’
We had a delicious meal at Le Petit Bistro today which included steak and beef bourguignon which was super tasty followed by a yummy chocolate fondant for dessert. The staff were extremely friendly and kind and made our experience here so lovely. I can't recommend highly enough!
5 stars 🌟 all around! My husband & I had dinner, drinks & dessert. Scallops for me, steak for him, both cooked perfectly! Kit Kat cake for dessert, very rich & shareable. This was the best meal we had while visiting Rhinebeck!!
Had a wonderful anniversary dinner. The staff was gracious, attentive and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic. The space was beautiful, cozy but comfortable. Highly recommend.
Fantastic food (best oysters around) Excellent, friendly service.
Came for brunch with my family and had a great table right by the window. We each got a drink: bellinis and cigarillos, and crispy fried oysters to start, which were incredible. I got Shakshuka, which was fav and the rest got Pozole, Shrimp and Grits, and the Gumbo. Everything was fantastic and it was a really interesting menu. Want to return for dinner!
The experience at Le Petite Bistro in Rhinebeck NY was outstanding from start to finish. The bartender Arturo is a master mixologist making me one of the best Martinis ever. Everyone from the hostess to our waitress could not have been more accommodating. And to top it off our food was delicious.
One the best places around Rhinebeck , Joe is a masterChef who care about the quality and his Customers. a great man with a passion for cooking, Good attitude, Good customer skills and care about community in Rhinebeck. You will never regrets going into this restaurant 👍👍👍👍
Last night, my husband and I celebrated our anniversary by dining at Le Petite Bistro. We were shown to our cozy little booth by the hostess, whose name, unfortunately, I can’t recall, and our server, Samantha, both of whom took excellent care of us throughout the evening. In addition to the wonderful appetizers (fish tacos and the harvest salad), our entrees (the pork schnitzel and the seared scallops) were fantastic! Our dessert, the KitKat cake, was made even more special when they wrote Happy Anniversary in caramel on the plate. From the service to the meal itself, I cannot recommend Le Petit Bistro highly enough! Thank you for a wonderful evening!
We had no reservations, it was Valentine's Day. The host and staff were friendly and offered us a table /reservation time. They seated us a little early, the table was wonderful. The service was so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. Thank you to all of the staff!
We have been coming here off and on for 10+ years. Went tonight for Valentine’s Day. They never disappoint. A wonderful meal.
Came to Rhinebeck for New Year’s Eve with a friend of mine, we went to Le Petit bistro for dinner. IT WAS AMAZING. The ambience was extravagant. The food was delicious. Staff couldn’t of been more friendly. I would totally recommend this place to anyone who has never been. It was out of this world. Great food, great atmosphere, and a super friendly professional staff. Love, love, love this place. When I come back to Rhinebeck, this will be the first place im going.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve been going to Le Petit Bistro for the past 15 years, and I absolutely love it. It’s one of those places that never loses its charm. The atmosphere is classic and intimate—dimly lit, cozy, and very much a traditional French bistro. The food is consistently excellent, and the experience always feels special. One of my favorite touches is the way the steak is cut tableside, which adds to the old-world, attentive feel of the dining experience. It’s a true Rhinebeck staple and a place I return to again and again. Timeless, elegant, and always satisfying.
Me and my fiancé went for both dinner and brunch. Everyone was very accommodating when we wanted to switch the time for our dinner reservation and our server Carly was very funny and a sweetheart! The food was delicious and we enjoyed the ambiance. Can’t wait to go back. Definitely recommend the fried oysters!
Very sweet local bistro. Their regular menu is small and they offer a very large list of rotating specials. Oysters were fresh and the staff were VERY well trained and seemed happy to be there. The ambiance was lovely, lively, and the interiors had an old world feel that was cozy and welcoming.
A memorable evening at the French Bistro in Rhinebeck! We had a great fantastic dinner tonight — the food was excellent. The atmosphere had just the right balance of warmth and energy, making a perfect vibe. What really made the experience special, though, was our server Jessica. She was incredibly attentive, professional, and genuinely kind — the kind of person every restaurant would be lucky to have. Her positive energy and thoughtfulness elevated the experience.
The place was recommended by our Airbnb host and we loved it. We had some the specials of that day and got the soft crab which was amazing and the fish was just perfect, the Escargot Bourguignon , Mussels with frites and the soups ! Each of the dishes were perfect fresh and delicious. We had ordered a lot so we had to take it home .
We came here for out 10th Anniversary and had the best time! The food was amazing, right down to the bread. Fish tacos were crunchy, tasty, and had enough spice to wake me up but not kill me, and Leah's mussels were overflowing and delicious. My pork tenderloin was cooked to my needs (I have immune system problems and must have everything cooked through) and super tasty, and Leah's Hake was tender and amazing. Our service could not have been better. Carly and Arturo took the best care of us. We are a little slow when eating and were never rushed, our needs were fulfilled, and we felt important; it has been a long time since we have received this kind of treatment. Thank you both for the amazing time, and thank you Le Petit Bistro for the amazing anniversary! TL:DR - eat here, it's awesome!
My boyfriend and I stopped here for an early dinner on a gorgeous Saturday evening in early spring. We arrived well before the dinner crowd, and were able to be immediately seated. I ordered a Brussel sprouts appetizer and he got a salad. The Brussel sprouts were extraordinary and plentiful! The specialty gin drink on the menu was also the perfect refreshment with a hint of cucumber and lime. For dinner I had beef and he had pork schnitzel. We were both very pleased with our meals and the wine selection! We ended our meal with the vanilla crème brûlée! Everything we ate was extraordinary, the wait staff was highly attentive and friendly, and the vibe was fun and welcoming. We will definitely be going back!!
We really liked this place! Nice atmosphere, very nice waitress and the food was excellent. I had a calamari salad that was a special followed by the Pork Mignon from the regular menu. My wife had the fried oysters (which were recommended by our B&B host) and the Grilled Hanger Steak. Everything was very good. The service was very good and our waitress was very attentive but I'd take one point off for her getting lost right as we finished our meal which left us sitting there with empty plates in front of us waiting for the check. Good selection of wines as well. Relatively expensive as every restraint in Rhine beck is but it did live up to our expectations.
La Petite Bistro is my wife's favorite restaurant and in my top three. The duck is enchanting, the oysters are never disappointing. It's our prime choice for a long slow date night. Definitely the kind of thing you take your time with, but a highlight of the night every time. Service is paced appropriately to the atmosphere, this isn't for kids, this isn't quick service, take your time, breath it in.
Wow, I’m so happy I found this place! So cute, intimate, and cozy. I really loved the atmosphere. As for the food, we ordered the French onion soup and beet salad. Both were absolutely fantastic. Will be back to try their other entrées and will definitely order the French onion soup again.
This is my new favorite restaurant. Everything was perfect, the atmosphere was lovely, nice decor, amazing food and service. Food came out quick and everything was delicious — fried oysters, crispy whole trout, steak, creme brulee. And the freshly baked hot bread! All so very good!! We are originally from the city so we know good food. All waitstaff were so friendly and personable. We felt so welcomed being there. I didn't even have to ask for a refill, they brought it out on their own. Can't wait to go back, we are definitely going to be regulars now.
Standard Sunday Brunch fare with some unique treats thrown in. I enjoyed the Eggs Benedict. Spouse had German Potato Pancakes. Pleasant atmosphere. Efficient service. Overall enjoyable dining experience.
This is a fine dining experience in a rustic setting. Fantastic food, attentive and friendly staff. A bit pricey on the wine but needed it with my meal for an excellent pairing. Duck needs to be a bit crispier. Rating this place harder than others because it is on a higher level than most restaurants. Will make this a regular date spot. (Ok, 4.5 stars)
Really adorable cozy place to sit and eat and catch up with friends. Very interactive, funny, and kind staff as well. I enjoyed everything I ordered from the mocktails to dessert. The only thing I would say is some of the menu items are a bit pricey and since the menu is ever changing it's probably not going to be a place you go to a lot but once in a while.
Good Food&Wine selections. Pleasant, efficient serving staff. Bistro feel, yet well decorated elegance.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when you order a bottle of wine and they bring you a different vintage and don't say anything about it. This happens every time I eat here. Last night we ordered a 2018 and they brought out a 2021. I had joked to my table that there was no way we'd get what we ordered...for years now this wine list has not changed but their menu changes daily. Love this place but no reason to not just either explain you're getting a different wine before pouring or just update the wine list.
The food was done perfectly. Everything was hot, and the Hanger steak was cooked perfectly. The beet salad was tasty, and enough to share. The service however, was slow and spotty. The waitress had too many tables, and was not aware of the needs of this party of five. Over all because the food was excellent I felt it deserved 4 stars, would hope more wait staff could help with the service problem
love this place and would give it a 5 but they keep running out of food. Recommend placing your order in advance. came here w my 95 yo godfather as it’s the place he and his wife loved the most. traveled over an hour each of the last two times. It’s a great restaurant and i guess it’s a harbinger for the world ahead.
Michelle is a great server. Good was excellent for a light dinner.
What a great place! Beautiful ambience, good food but, most of all, awesome service! The only negative, and it’s not even a big deal, was the hot chocolate (a little cold and not enough chocolate, maybe a personal taste thing) but everything else is top notch. The German potato pancakes with poached eggs were amazing! The staff were super friendly, and went above and beyond for us. Highly recommended.
The food is fantastic. The wine pours are below average for the price.. Ordered the oysters, soup, and split the ribeye with my father. The environment was “loud.” But in all fairness it was Saturday. I had to send my soup back as they served it with our oysters. Space is needed at a place of this caliber and price. We had an obnoxious group next to us drinking and they were max loudness. I would go there again for sure! Highly recommended
Great atmosphere and the food was lovely. the menu is on a small chalkboard and provided at your table so you don't have to touch anything which is a nice move to help with the Covid spread. The drinks were wonderful and so was the schnitzel and the mushroom risotto. Also went for brunch and it was just as lovely. This place is right in the heart of Redhook and a good place to go for a quality bite to eat followed by a stroll through the village. Plenty of shops around and parking is near by as well. If have never had a schnitzel I highly recommend you treat yourself to one. It's perfectly cooked and presented just like it would be in Europe.
Great restaurant. The French Onion soup was superb. The broiled oysters might be iffy. The burgers are excellent. The mussels had some grit and could have used a grilled buttered bread accompaniment. The draft Subversive Marz was delightful and generously poured. Also, the house tequila margarita was good. Service was good. We have eaten here numerous times and will return. We will not have the oysters again and maybe not the mussels.
Stopped in for a coffee and dessert, was not disappointed. The three petite profiterais were perfection and the Coffee was a good match. We ate at the bar and were well cared for by the waitstaff.
This is probably the best in Rhinebeck. A modern French cuisine that’s very affordable. The restaurant has two part of seating, the one by the entrance is more modern with big windows the inside room is the original building more a darker tone old country home vibe. Sunday brunch has the regular on the QR code and also have special written on the board. Highly recommend their fried oyster is not overly oiled, just lightly dusted and fried a little bit so it’s not overly cooked. Topped with some fish rows and cucumber. The French onion soup is very tasty as well. The mussels are very fresh but a little lack of flavor. Service is not super fast like in the city so need to move patient to anticipate a longer dining time. They also have a good wine selection.
I have been here a few times over the last few years and this time I have decided to leave a review. The food was amazing. Service was good. I ordered and got my food in a timely manner and everything taste great. The 3 stars is because of the drinks. I have been a bartender myself for over 10 years and know what a drink is supposed to look and taste like. I ordered their specialty martini; was able to stomach half of it before I gave up. I ordered a cosmo. The color was off and it taste again nothing like a cosmo should taste. Gave up on that drink and order a basic captain and pineapple. Gross. I complained because it taste of straight gasoline. Not sure what type of alcohol they are using but it’s not the actual stuff. Manager came over to say she made the drink. Could be why the drink taste awful. They did credit us for the drinks I couldn’t drink but not before a impolite remark. I would recommend you go here for food but stick to wine if you want to have a drink.
Cosy and well established restaurant, always appeared to be very popular and appreciated whenever we visited. The rating reflects our experience with the plates we ordered where there seems to be lots of action but limited substance. In other words, the presence of the the dish’s theme on the plate is sporadic and limited in size and surrounded by lower cost ingredients (such as potato purée, lots of it). The abundant crowd doesn’t seem to the phased by the menu prices, while we have found that in the past year restaurants have become less and less of an affordable value proposition and more of an insane experience when it comes to putting your meal and the check on the opposite side of the scale
Our dinner at the bistro last week was mixed in quality. A superb onion soup, fried oysters that seemed to have been precooked, an inedible blackened flounder - the seasoning was so over spiced that couldn’t eat it - and a pork cheek bean stew which was far too heavily salted. It would be good to see some imagination and creativity in the side dishes. It seems the kitchen is rushed and therefore little attention is given to cooking to order. Service likewise is very rushed. However, it is a fun atmosphere.
I went with my family to this restaurant for my 60th birthday. The servers were nice but the food was only ok. The halibut was kind of dry with no flavor. My son’s steak frites were good but the rest of the plate was loaded with French fries. My husband had a pork mignon that looked kind of rare. So let’s just say we won’t be returning here. Otherwise the servers were good and friendly.
Wish I could give this restaurant a better rating. We went on Christmas Eve and found the meal and the service to be pretty mediocre, though I will say the oysters and martinis were excellent. The lag time between courses was excessive without any attention or explanation from staff. My meal (seared scallops) was a bit overdone and not hot when it finally came. All of that said, we'll probably give it another shot when the sting of this high-priced dining experience fades. It is my brother's favorite restaurant for a reason and we aim to find out why.
Shared 4 appetizers - dozen oysters (all from Canada), beet salad, mussells with fries, and steak tartar. Oysters were amazing, no complaints. The beet salad had a disproportionate amount of beets and fennel to goat cheese. The steak tartar had gristle, and despite the cornichon and mustard, it just all felt very heavy for an app. The mussells were overcooked, salty, and the broth was practically non-existent. The service was lovely and so were the drinks. Music comes in but not too loud, and it's clearly a neighborhood favorite with locals coming in and greeting the staff with hugs. Busy for a Thursday evening, the food was a little slow coming out, but no one seemed to mind.
The service was pretty bad. Food took a long time and about 20 minutes after ordering they told us they ran out of one of the entrees we ordered. The onion soup was very good but the steak frites and duck were just okay. The cocktail (le jardin) was horrible… tasted like 99% lemon juice and seemed like it wasn’t strained - it had a ton of pulp and cucumber pieces floating around. The vibe inside was nice but I would skip this place.
Disappointed at a French Bistro. We came here to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food was supposed to be good, including the entree Pork Schnitzel, but unfortunately that dish was sold out, and even though I asked they refused to provide it. Instead I chose the burger hoping it would be done well, but unfortunately it was not. My family had the steak, oysters, steak tartare, and mussels and they said they liked everything but the steak, because it was not really tasty and sliced up into something like steak tips Unfortunately my burger was not really that good . No ice was put in the glasses, for our on-the-h house water. The service was as friendly as it could be, under the circumstances. I'm not sure I will ever be coming back again.
I remember when Le Petit Bistro was a cozy little gem of a French restaurant with a good traditional French menu and excellent service. Then it expanded. Last week it was crowded and noisy. It took about ten minutes to get a glass of wine. Bread didn't come until after we ordered dinner. The menu was eclectic, not very French, and frankly boring. Our waitress was nice but overworked; we sat over our finished dishes for quite a few minutes before they were removed. Too bad.
Service was phenomenal. The food and cocktails not so much. The server’s description was so exciting! The chef’s deliver did not live up to it. Even the cocktail; I asked for something sweet and got something so sour I couldn’t finish it. Sorry, won’t be back
Very disappointing. Our first visit since the expansion, though we had eaten here many times before, and we were immediately overwhelmed by the noise. However, we were seated in the quieter, old section, so that wasn't too bad. It took a while for anything to happen apart from being served water - it seemed there were far too few staff. Nobody asked if we wanted a pre-dinner drink. We eventually ordered, and the starters were excellent, though they took a while to arrive. There were problems with the main course, which were eventually resolved, but I have to say the experience was *nothing* like it was before, and I doubt we will eat there again. Such a shame.
> My recent visit to Le Petit Bistro was so disappointing that I felt compelled to write this unfavorable review. > > My daughters made a reservation days in advance so that we would be assured a table to celebrate a special family birthday. > > The table we were given was in the direct path of the kitchen door next to the cappuccino and espresso machines, where there was constant noise and traffic. I requested that we be given another table, but was told that no other tables were available, that they had been reserved. I decided to not press the issue, despite the fact that my daughters had traveled from out of town and it was my wife’s birthday. Instead I accepted the less than desirable table. > I ordered the Swordfish and asked for it to be served WELL DONE. When my food arrived, I was stunned at the size of the portion, so small that I wondered if it was a lunch portion. While it may be true that the price of food has increased, it is not right to punish the consumer. Raise the price on the menu, NOT the size of the portion. This was not a portion worth the $34.00 price. Seems like a bit of price gouging, no? Additionally, the fish was served to me very RARE. I eat and prepare fish several times a week and when I do, I prepare it so that it is NOT rare, which is why I specifically requested that it be served to me well done. > > I asked the waitress to correct the problem and back to the kitchen it went, and 15 minutes later, it arrived, this time looking like wet mush, and inedible. Admittedly, I am not the ultimate authority with regards to fish identification, however, since I eat fish several times a week, I know what swordfish is, and I can say with certainty that what was sitting on my plate was definitely NOT swordfish. > I was asked if I wanted to order another entree, but declined, as my family had already finished eating. This was so disappointing, as the whole purpose of going out to eat was to enjoy a meal TOGETHER as a family. > > At the end of our meal, the “unavailable/reserved tables” were still empty, and no one had been seated at them during the entire time that we were there. Hum? > Reservations were made at Le Petit Bistro thinking that our family would have an exceptional dining experience, but the whole ordeal fell so far short of exceptional that I am certain that we will never return. > To add insult to injury, the manager of the restaurant never came out to see what the problem was so that he could personally rectify the situation. So much for diplomacy. Deleting the cost of my meal was simply not enough. > I have dined in many fine restaurants both in the US and abroad, and I can say with certainty that this experience did not even come close to fine dining.
Ehh… for the hype, the brunch menu does not do well to deliver. We arrived, and were seated behind the servers station.. even with that, we waited 10 minutes to order. Then the food took another 45 minutes, and all came out within moments of each other. Taking the last bite of the appetizer; Fried Oysters (reminded me of a California Roll from a sushi place), and my wife still eating what was essentially full pieces of lettuce (side salad), our entrees came. The bistro burger was inedible- I am not one to pass up on a burger. And, they were out of pancake batter? Okay… my wife’s potato pancakes were okay. Rather than the server focusing on pet names (Love, sweeties, etc…), could focus on timing and refilling drinks, or checking on the table. There were about 6 tables in service by the time we ordered, and from what we saw 5 staff members, so, should have been able to keep up. If we find ourselves up in Rhinebeck again, looks like we missed out on a lot of other amazing brunch spots.
I've been there many times and always enjoyed it. My wife and I brought our friends on Saturday to share what we've previously enjoyed. The food and drinks were delicious. We were having a great time until we paid the check. With tip, the bill was $460. Within minutes of paying, the hostess came over and said we were 30 minutes over our time. There's a time limit? It was 8:45pm and according to the website, they close at 10pm. There were MULTIPLE other tables available and we were basically thrown out. Way to ruin a good night out with friends and treat your customers.
It's very nice to have this restaurant in town, but for one, they need to figure out how to make fish tacos. They are dry, and could feed a small child. Also, the ice from the oysters falls onto to the customers who are sitting at that window table. Wasn't there a transparent window there that prevented that? It's not very nice to have oysters at your neck. Not very sanitary either I wouldn't think. Otherwise the food is good and everyone is nice. Oh, and bread, wouldn't it be nice to have a little bread with brunch? If they want to be a French restaurant, bread needs to be available and free
Service was very poor. Despite the wait staff buzzing around all over the place we sat for a good 15 minutes before we were offered a drink or even a look at a menu. When the food eventually came my swordfish was a bit overdone probably having fought for so long Under The Lights waiting to be brought to the table. When the food arrived we asked for a second glass of wine. It finally showed up after we had finished our dinner and we told the waiter that we no longer needed or wanted it. However we didn't check carefully and it was on our bill and we paid for it. Once Upon a Time this was a lovely place but it's now just noisy and nothing very special
The service was wonderful. Every single person working there was friendly and helpful. The food was not good. The escargot was in flavorless butter as the garlic could not be tasted. The fried oysters were also bland. The oysters were covered in too much stuff to be tasted themselves. The Tobiko Aioli was relatively flavorless. The Shredded Cucumber and Scallions on top overpowered the oysters and the Flying Fish Roe. Finally the PEI Mussels w/ Frites White Wine Broth, Onion, Garlic, Thyme & Aioli was surprisingly unsatisfying. The broth was mild and disappointing. The French fries were soggy. It looked like we got the last of the fries and they were shoved into the metal cup. There was no paper to absorb oil. They were broken and greasy. When dumped out, it became apparent that they were a big clump of undersalted mush. I would not recommend this place.
I want to love it. The reviews are great. And while the service is excellent and it is a pretty restaurant the food is mediocre at best. I’m not sure what everyone is talking about. So many better options in the Hudson Valley.
We couldn’t wait to eat here, had a beyond great experience in February and expected the same. We had great service but it stopped there, appetizers were great but main dishes were inedible. I ordered lamb but for $42 I got loin lamb chops that were over cooked and beyond tough and NOTHING what I ordered.... My husband ordered steak it was fatty and salty so inedible. WE WILL NOT BE BACK
Been here a bunch over the years (3 times in last month or so for starters) and always good experience until last night. We walk in, host looks at computer confirms resy and seats us. Then minutes later he reseats us. Now that we’re in our correct seats we get over served to the point I was unsure who my waitress was. Two different waitresses took our order and neither of them got it right. I ordered 10 fried oysters, wife ordered steak. They bring her steak forget my oysters, which I’m told are coming right out. They did not, so I cancelled the oysters at which point the “main” waitress, had us on ignore to the point I had to ask for check and waters were no longer refilled. Must’ve thought she wasn’t getting any tip, but I gave an undeserved 10% + as I plan to go back sometime next year , maybe. I say “main” waitress because that’s how she described herself when I asked who exactly our server was after having to order twice. Over service caused inexplicable confusion amongst their staff and ruined a simple order. Requesting one server would be wise to make sure this never happens to you at a dinner for 2. 2 people ordering 2 meals is far from a complicated order and shouldn’t get messed up, but yesterday 2 waitresses managed to do just that. That bad experience will keep this regular away for a while. ( ps , Steak was perfectly cooked medium)
The menu was solid, the food was decent, the service was okay. During my meal, a man at the next table scooted up to me and put his arm around me to initiate a conversation. I told him not to touch me and to leave me alone. He and his entire table began to argue with me, saying that he was just joking and I was overreacting. I insisted that I would not tolerate being touched by strangers and that my reaction was warranted. my disappointment with the restaurant is that a manager/staff member came over to check on the situation but only spoke to the man who had touched me, placated only him and his guests. Not one member of the restaurant even acknowledged that I had been harassed by other guests, let alone that I was upset at all. Following up: The following day I spoke with the manager to discuss the incident and communicate the restaurant staff's failure to even ask if i was ok or acknowledge what had happened and how that made me feel. The manager Jessica seemed to take the situation seriously and spoke with empathy, assured me she'd speak to the staff and owners and get back to me. The following day, Jessica called me back and all she was able to tell me was that the staff was trying to "de-escalate" and didn't intend to ignore me or diminish my experience. She then asked me to take this review down, which was just insult to injury because it made me feel that all of our conversations were merely to protect the reputation of the restaurant. Not only would I not return to this restaurant, but I'll know probably warn people against coming here if they are visiting Rhinebeck.
Very disappointed with this joint. Loud, not particularly clean, small portions and the space is so tight I actually ate off the plate from the next table. This place depends on unsuspecting day trippers. You can do better!
This is the kind of review I hate to write. But our experience at this restaurant stands out among the worst dining experiences we have ever had, primarily due to poor service and the opposite of how well-trained staff should respond when they mess up on service and receive a justified complaint. We were seated and ordered promptly, but after 20 minutes only half our drinks arrived (the missing drinks never arrived), and after another 40 minutes the main dishes still hadn't been served. Our waitress simply disappeared, and when my wife gently asked if there was a problem, the kitchen manager rudely responded with the exact time the order had been placed 45 minutes earlier, implying that this wasn't too long to wait. After more than an hour total from the time of our arrival, we finally gave up and left. No one on the staff, even the manager offered an explanation or said they were sorry for the inconvenience.
Placed a pick-up order over the phone last night, and had an incredibly negative experience with the staff. I went into the restaurant to pick up my order and gave exact change, according to the price quoted over the phone. I did not add a gratuity, because there was no service (they didn’t even bring the food out to the car, I went inside and picked up myself). The staff came back after counting the payment and asked me if I would like to add a gratuity. I politely declined, explaining that it was just a pick-up. They then badgered me to add a tip, talking about how much effort they put in and saying they couldn’t believe that I would not add a gratuity. In my understanding it’s very standard not to tip for pick-up orders, any food app you use will require a tip for delivery orders and suggest no tip for pick up. The food was very good, and I would plan to go back more regularly if it were not for the horrible experience - I’ll have to find a new restaurant to buy my holiday gift cards this year.
I have been to this restaurant on many occasions in the past, and always had a fantastic experience. Visited tonight, and it was absurdly bad. To start with: horrible service, we had no fewer than 6 people wait on us, still not sure who our server was. My fiancé ordered a steak medium rare, with a substitute side- it came out well done with the wrong side. He sent it back (he’s literally never done this) and a server brought the same steak back and said that this was “chef’s version of a medium rare” and he wasn’t willing to cook a new one. Attaching a photo for reference. I’ll let you all be the judge. I had lamb that was...fine. A little grisly and nothing special. We were told we’d be “comped a few things” to make up for the overcooked steak and we were comped one $10 glass of wine (after the check being dropped first with nothing comped). The one star comes from the blonde server that we’ve had a few times who is lovely and amazing at her job.
Went with out of town guests. I was very disappointed. The onion soup was watery and schnitzel was dry. Not recommending.
My family and have been coming here for years, since the early 2000s and have never had a bad experience until 4 days ago. I don’t know if they were understaffed or lost a cook but was a horrible experience. Was rushed to our table and before we got a chance to sit, was asked what we wanted to order from the drinks menu or if we “had already made up our minds before we got here”. Completely rude staff. Felt like I was being rushed out the door the whole time. They forgot to place the butter for our rolls, didn’t walk us through the menu like they used to do. My fried oysters which I look forward to each time I go were horribly plated with way too much garnish and my steak frite had no flavor (they forgot to add the garlic to the “garlic butter” sauce) and the spinach side was flavorless. The rest of my family’s meals were also bland for what the prices are now. The waitress told us she was tired and wanted to go home by the time we paid our check! For what they are charging now, get better staff. I saw more than 1x a waiter almost spill food or drinks onto someone. Felt completely rushed and like they couldn’t wait to see the back of every table they seated.
