Always the freshest and best sushi around.
Unexpected location, but inside is lovely with great food and service!
Amazing sushi at a great price!
Superb Sushi. And relatively cheap. Try the bento box
My family love this place. One of our favorites.
Sushi is incredible. Worth the wait.
Quality sushi for fair prices
good sushi for less than osaka or momiji
Delicious fresh food in an elegant atmosphere.
Great Japanese place. Owned by Japanese too!
Good local spot.
Great food at a reasonable price.
Fresh, tasty, all around wonderful.
So clean, so fresh, so affordable!
Great place, great sushi.
It was amazing. Food is very good and the staff is so friendly. We got an amazing date .
Excellent, cheap sushi with great atmosphere. My favorite sushi place!
Great price great sushi. Very clean
My favorite local sushi spot! Try the spicy scallop roll! It is the bomb!
super kind staff and great food
Best price for this kind of meal from red hook to Hyde Park. Nice staff too!
We enjoy Hana Sushi and have become regulars there. Udon bowls and sushi along with Teriyaki, Negimaki and other classic Japanese dishes are consistently good. This is a very nice, family-owned restaurant that takes good care of its customers.
This restaurant is owned and run by authentic Japanese staff. This makes a big difference to the quality of the ingredients and service and the resulting flavors. We had the combination rolls, salmon teriyaki Bento box, vegetable tempura udon, Philadelphia rolls. Highly recommended.
Excellent sushi and tempura dinners. Very nice staff and elegant, comfortable restaurant. I overlooked this place before because it’s out of the main drag, but now it’s my favorite sushi place in the region!
Really good sushi. Little expensive. Worth the extra money. I do wish that they offered more little combos and dinner specials that didn't have so much in them that were just maybe a few rolls that you could mix and match to your liking. Similar to other sushi places.
Stopped by Hana Sushi after a movie, and was pleasantly surprised. The sushi is unpretentious, tasty and very affordable. The staff was friendly. Will definitely be coming back.
Very impressed with this sushi place. Staff is genuinely helpful and nice. They are actually Japanese! My go to spot, now. I went 3 days a row.
This place always provides great prices on sushi. They are very friendly and nice. I wish they were open on sundays and mondays. Other than that the food is great!
We dined here twice (so far) with our young daughter. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. The food is great! We will be regulars for sure.
Their food is so good and fresh. The service is awesome. I love going here for sushi.
So sweet and authentic this place. And there's high quality sushi without overinflated prices. I always enjoy visiting.
I love Hana Sushi!!! The food is great and so are the staff. It's the only place I trust enough to eat a salad away from home.
Don't overlook this locally- owned, reasonably-priced sushi spot in the same tiny mall as Holy Cow and Subway. Great food and prices!
Excellent flavor, cooked just right and service is timely. Love the salmon dish and everything..sushi, bento boxes.
Delicious salmon teriyaki and California roll. Take out or eat in (order at counter, food brought to table). No beer now, just cold sake.
The two appetizers, the Volcano and the Agi Tofu we're wonderful. The Chirashee was very delicious and deserves a lot attention.🍜🍣
hidden gem with authentic, fresh sushi - best sushi I've had in the area by far
This was my first time here. The check out lady was so nice and the food was great! Will be going back for sure :)
A very nice family run operation. Fresh, friendly and very well priced. They have been there a long time and have it all very well organized.
Authentic Japanese-owned Sushi Restaurant. I currently live in Westchester County, but I drive the hour and a half up to Red Hook so I can eat their sushi. Very peaceful atmosphere and not overly priced. The sushi chef really makes an effort to buy fresh fish and products. You won't see too many crazy modern rolls- just a great array of the traditional. (Although they do have a red hook roll that I absolutely love!) If you need it fast, order take out. It’s not the place to go if you want to sit and eat quickly. It’s also not the best for big groups of people, the sushi will take longer to make. My family and I don’t mind waiting. We just talk about life and eat appetizers. Enjoy their complimentary tea :)
I grew up with Japanese neighbors and married a Japanese national, so I'm quite picky when it comes to sushi. This place is unpretentious, yet has excellent food and service. The dishes are ALL authentic, delicious, and generous in portions (for sushi). The chiefs are all born and raised in Japan, but they are now truly locals, as their kids grew up in Red Hook. Eat here to support a local family business while getting a truly Japanese experience!
The sushi is authentic and fresh. It always tastes good. They are friendly and meticulous. It's wonderful to have in Red Hook. We've done take out and eaten there.
A nice quiet little place to enjoy a meal. Food was absolutely superb. You can definitely taste the Freshness and quality of the Fish. Overall great dining experience
This is a legit sushi spot. The owner has been a sushi chef for 40+ yrs. His lovely wife runs the front of house. Pop in for a serene, delicious, dining experience.
Really excellent sushi - I had the deluxe which came with miso and salad. They are very sweet. The place looks pleasant and quiet, but mine was to go.
I went to Bard College (10 minutes up the road) for four years, and this place was one of the very few off-campus restaurants I frequented. Fabulous sushi from two great chefs from northern Japan. There's not much else to say about it, really. A friend from Boston, while he was in the area, visited the place at my suggestion and said "I wasn't expecting to find such a good sushi place in such a small town". That about sums Hana Sushi up.
As a former New Yorker I had never had eaten sushi and or sashimi in a restaurant located in a strip mall. Eighteen years ago there were limited options for Japanese restaurants in Dutchess County, so I decided to give Hana a try and I'm thrilled I did. I was so surprisingly impressed by the intimate dining space, the high quality of the delicious food and the overall experience. The master sushi chef and owner consistently buys the freshest fish. His preparation of the sushi and sashimi is always delicious and presented beautifully. I also would highly recommend their Hijiki (a black seaweed salad), which is made by the Chef and is a stable of all high quality and authentic Japanese restaurants. I truly adore the wait staff!!! They as always very professional, organized, friendly, sweet and service oriented. As a a result I've been a loyal customer ever since 2002!!!!.With Gratitude To Hana Sushi!!!!!!!
The sushi is amazing! I also love their food in general. The staff is always nice. I love having this place in Red Hook. It can be hard to find good sushi and this place hits the spot.
Update a year later: Just the same! Still delicious, still nostalgic! I have been wanting to come here for years now as there are very few of the more traditional sushi restaurants in the area. It was well worth the wait and is our new favorite! The gyoza are clearly in-house made and tasted just like I make at home! Wonderful flavor, dipping sauce not required. We ordered both the shrimp and the vegetable tempura dishes, and neither disappointed. Generous portions and transported me right back to eating tempura in Kyoto, Japan. All of the sushi rolls we ordered were delicious. If you're looking for an actually spicy sushi roll, the dynamite roll is delicious and packs a punch with its tograshi seasoning. If you're looking for something more unique and wonderfully refreshing, try the ume shiso roll! The mochi was delicious and I was so happy to see koriyama cheesecake on the dessert menu! 美味しい! 御馳走様でした!
Delicious fresh sushi with a friendly sweet staff. We had the Chirashi and the Sushi deluxe dinner and both were perfect. Will be back often!
The best rolls and sushi I’ve ever eaten.
Absolutely goated, fire food and fire service. The salmon and tuna sashimi in particular melt in your mouth and are simply sublime. Would give 10 stars if I could 👌
Super great sushi, wonderful food. Service is a little slow but it's a very small business.

I've been eating there for many, many years. The food is wonderful, the pricing makes it affordable, and the owners and staff are always welcoming and gracious. Its our go-to sushi place, above the other options.
Had an excellent experience here! The atmosphere was very inviting and couple working (I presume they are the owners), were welcoming and gracious. The sushi was fresh and delicious and very reasonable prices. Highly recommend!!
I was a bit skeptical to go out for sushi in upstate NY but it more than exceeded our expectations. The sushi was fresh and the quality was better than most places in the city. Service was fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone looking for quality sushi.
I’ve been coming here for years! The sushi is authentic and fresh. It always tastes delicious! The tempura is amazing as well! The people who work here are polite and friendly. I’ve never had an unpleasant experience here. You won’t be disappointed if you go here! Absolutely wonderful!
A true gem. The owners are lovely, the space has a cozy and calm ambiance, and the food is authentic, high quality, and tasty. We love everything from the miso soup and salad w/ miso ginger dressing to the sushi to the udon to the tempura. Pair with their hot tea for a truly satisfying meal!
Tonight was our first time tasting Hana Sushi. Due to Covid they are only doing takeout, but when I stepped inside to get my order I knew this was the real deal. Our order was late and we had to wait 20 minutes but it was completely worth it. This was the best sushi I have eaten in decades. We ordered an assortment of rolls and one piece of mackerel sushi which was the best piece of mackerel I have had in 40 years. We will definitely be back.
Absolute best sushi anywhere in the area. Great service, great food, great value. Truly never been disappointed by this restaurant.
Really surprised to find this gem in Red Hook. We've only gotten it for takeout, so I can't speak to the atmosphere. We use the online ordering platform. The sushi is really good! We've tried a decent variety from sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and speciality rolls. We've enjoyed all. We currently order once a week!
The best / freshest sushi this side of the Hudson valley. Authentic Japanese style and their gyoza are home made and delicious. Great for takeout or an easy dine in.
Absolutely fantastic! Beautiful food and graceful service. They have helped to broaden my son's pallet as he is now a sushi lover! We may be regulars.
Excellent food. Quiet atmosphere- not in the center of town so not as many customers. Worth going - it's a hidden gem.
Really nice atmosphere and great fish! Authentic sushi and welcoming owners! We came to the area for getaway vacation from the city and I was craving sushi. It really exceeded my expectations so would highly recommend.
I’ve heard for many years this place was good and my sister and I just had the opportunity to try it. It’s authentic and most importantly fresh. The Japanese owners are very nice. I’m particularly critical of Asian food as it is something I grew up with. As a Japanese American I have to say this is the best sushi place I’ve been to upstate. I’ve tried a few places in the area and hands down Hana Sushi is the best. Can’t wait to take my Japanese father here!

Nice place, friendly staff
Casual dining with your choice
Inconsistently cut sushi.
Comfy atmosphere, great atmosphere, and sushi. Worth the money for it.
Love coming here. Always good and prices are really reasonable.
Delicious sushi at a reasonable price :)
Food is very good and the people are very nice
Good sushi and service. Has a nice calm atmosphere and sushi is reasonably priced.
Hana sushi is the only shop I would go for sushi in the Hudson Valley. Not only the owner/sushi chef is real Japanese, the neta (fish) is very fresh and come with the authentic assortment. American style -maki is fine, but that's not sushi for us. Nigiri and a few hosomaki, or chirashi-zushi are the sushi for Japanese people. Yes, we enjoy occasional home-style fotomaki or gomoku-zushi, but when we feel like to go out for sushi, we would think about sitting in the counter & ordering our favorite nigiri. I prefer su-meshi more sour a little bit, because I'm originated in Kanto (Tokyo-metropolitan) area. But I could fully enjoy the entire Hana sushi dining experience. It's just like going to my favorite sushi shop in Japan. It's real. We would really appreciate their hard work to serve genuine sushi in the community.
Some of the best sushi I have had in New York. The Mets Dinner is my go-to. I like it so much that I brought Hana Sushi when I proposed.
Tasty sushi, prompt service. Never sat in the restaurant to have my meal, but it looks nice, as well as clean.
I moved here from Brooklyn and haven’t had sushi in ages. This place was great, hit the spot and the staff was great too.
This place is the best Sushi restaurant in the Hudson Valley. I've eaten sushi since I was a little kid, and since that time, the number of restaurants that serve sushi has gone up, while the quality generally has gone down. My father and I once drove 45 minutes to go here, and he enjoyed the experience being a sushi fan himself. Lunch specials there are super cheap (under 10 dollars). If you eat sushi in the Hudson Valley, it should be here. Good delicious food for reasonable prices.
I loved the rolls I got, especially the crab roll with masago on the outside.

Hana Sushi has earned its place as one of my all-time favorite sushi spots in New York. This restaurant has consistently impressed me with its impeccable sushi creations, friendly service, and inviting ambiance. The sushi rolls weren’t the best but the dumplings were delicious. It was an ok experience.
Great sushi but the only thing I didn't like was the chef used Wasabi to bind every roll together so it doesn't matter if u don't want spicy it will be spicy but tastes fresh and you sit yourself and order from your phone.
Not great
Spotty
The food was good but its a crap shoot as to when they are open I have been trying to get sushi for the last two months its impossible if they were open more then it would be 5 stars
