Great first time experience
Sushi was perfect.
Amazing!!!
Love this place!
Everything was perfect
My home away from home.
Fantastic
Great sushi
This relaxed but spirited place has some of the best sushi & sashimi. Very chill & cool vibe. Open til 11 which was nice. The hand rolls were well constructed & absolutely fat. Id paid the most I've ever paid for a hand roll - $27. And it was worth every penny. Its another tucked in a corner of a strip mall hidden gem. And the staff are gracious. Lively, very cool joint! Authentic Japanese.
Best Japanese and Sushi in Hudson Valley. Whenever we are any where near Rhinebeck there is only one place we will go to. Simply the best.
We ordered takeout and it was ready when we got there. Everything was delicious and package well to go!
Love this place! Delicious and fresh menu and service are unbelievable! 👍🏻😎🍱🍣🍜 See you tonite!
Having been to Japan I can tell you the food is as good as in Osaka, Japan. We have some favorites and it is a convenient walk for us in. #Rhinebeck.
One of the best and most unique spicy tuna rolls I’ve ever had
Service and food were great.
Fresh, quality ingredients, delicious combinations, super friendly and attentive staff. We have a winner.
I love this restaurant, great sushi amazing service highly recommend
I go here often. The food is always fresh and the service is always pleasant.
Love this place! Staff are great and the quality of the food is awesome!
Been a patron for over 15 years and never been disappointed in the quality of the food or service.
one of the best sushi restaurants in Dutchess county
Sushi was great in a very relaxed atmosphere.
The best sushi I've ever had.
Food is always worth the wait and always fresh.
Wonderful miso soup, age tofu, and sushi.!
Always consistent quality
Great food and the service is great
Excellent Japanese restaurant.
Best sushi in town!
Great place . very peaceful
I have been frequenting Osaka for 10 years and still find a way to stop in every time I am home visiting. The service is exceptional and the food is top tier. Both this location and the one in Tivoli are solid choices for a great family meal.
EXCEPTIONAL Asian food consistent for many years. Local and Travelers come to this wonderful restaurant some traveling from afar. Always FRESH and delicious. Tempuras are a favorite and soups . Homemade Teriyaki is a treat , a rare item to find . Enjoy all .
1 review 5.0 star rating 11/1/2017 I had the privilege of visiting Rhineback, NY for the first time and asked the locals for a recommendation for the best restaurants in the area and the most common respond was "Osaka". As an Asian/sushi foodie, I was skeptical at first but decided to give Osaka a try. When I got there I noticed that the restaurant was clean, well decorated, and small so that it created a very intimate atmosphere. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the restaurant who was extremely friendly and clearly knowledgeable about sushi. We talked about my sushi addiction and she told me to trust her and she'd recommend me some great rolls that I'd really enjoy. Let's just say the food WELL exceed my expectations! Specifically, I had the Happy Roll, Spicy Scallop roll, Eel monster roll, Salmon Su, Tuna Su and also got to enjoy some delicious miso soup and green salad. I have enjoyed great sushi in NYC, LA. London, San Fran and Tokyo and I can confidently say that Osaka in Rhineback was some of the best sushi I've ever had! And To top it off, I even met some of my favorite celebrities while i was at Osaka, Paul Rudd from Clueless and Hilarie Burton from One Tree Hill! I even got to engaged them in conversation while talking to the owner and they both told me that Osaka was truly a Rhineback's Jem! If you are EVER in Rhineback stopping by Osaka is a must!
Excellent sushi. Unassuming classic sushi restaurant. Highly recommend!
Good atmosphere, attentive staff, high quality fish. On sashimi and sushi, the chef pays attention to cut, thickness, and temperature. Best sushi I have ever had.
I've been to Osaka twice, and both times had great meals. Always fresh and delicious.
Food was really good. Really enjoyed the sushi rolls and mochi! Service was excellent.
Absolutely love this place, have been going for the past 15 years. Best sushi on Gods green earth.
My friend and I had both sushi and a hibachi dish. The combination of flavors with an elegant presentation was superb. As well, the service was excellent.
I go there almost every other weekend! The food is so tasty I also like mixing the wasabi and the soy sauce to dip into the spicy soy sauce. I would not recommend eating the wasabi alone
One of the most consistently good sushi experiences I've had over the past decade.
Off the beaten path and referred by the locals. Can't beat this place. Amazing sushi and awesome staff. Highly recommend to anyone in the area.
Favorite sushi place around. Fresh, takeout is never a mess once I get it home, attractive and cozy dining space when eating in.
Great local Sushi spot. Despite their limited lunch options, the high quality assortment of fish absolutely makes up for it.
Delicious food! Very fresh fish, and had options my vegetarian friend could enjoy.
Really so much better than anyone would expect for a sushi 🍣 place in the hudson Valley... Very nice staff great sushi
Cozy. The sushi bar is the majority of the seating with some tables on one side. The food is simple and clean.
This is our family go to sushi place. More savory than sweet (hana sushi red hook).
Cute, authentic space with delicious sushi and sashimi. Friendly service and ideal for solo dining
Fantastic food - the salmon was astoundingly fresh - Marco the chef takes sushi to a whole new level!
Favorite go to local sushi. Always fresh and friendly
Delicious, super fresh sushi. Always consistently fantastic!!
It's nice to find a Japanese restaurant similar to what the experience was 30 years go. It's family friendly as well. The sushi chefs are excellent and had traditional techniques and variety. Hot towels before the meal have been long gone from most restaurants. While there wasn't any particular roll or dish that stood out, the menu was diverse and interesting. The Dashi was savory and had bits of seaweed and that was an interesting change from the usual broth. Saba and Uni were also available and these are generally not found in newer, fast food restaurants. It was a pleasant experience and worth the trip.
It was our first time visiting Rhinebeck and we had a very enjoyable dining experience at this small but cozy and busy restaurant. The owners are super friendly and social. We saw all 3 generations of the owners family at the restaurant. The owners gave us free mochi ice cream and our kids absolutely loved it. We found we had many things in common and we can’t wait to bring our family here when we visit Rhinebeck again!
Very good restuarant. Small location that has about 4 tables and 10 seats against the sushi bar where they build the rolls. Staff is friendly and provides very fast service. The food is very fresh and has good flavor. They do a good amount of take out business. Very simple clean menu
Consistently the best sushi around. Amazingly fresh... awesome presentation. Cozy and warm atmosphere. A must if your in town....
Love the friendly service and cozy environment. Sushi was absolutely delicious!
Consistently amazing sushi and service. Small, quiet, and clean. Welcoming atmosphere. Great specials. World class sushi.

Best sushi in the Hudson Valley! Always fresh, excellent service and staff. Looking forward to my next visit! Thank you!
Perfect sushi place in my opinion. Small dining room, so quiet and comfortable. The sushi was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The rolls are simple, which I prefer. Not too much rice and very few tempura fried or with cream cheese. Good prices, except the mixed drinks. I recommend avoiding those because they were $$$. I will definitely return.
Unbelievably fresh sushi. Wonderful, subtle flavors, and a terrific selection of sake. The best part of our experience, however, was nine-year-old Xander. He seated us and helped us with whatever we needed and he was funny and delightful. Because he's nine, I hope he's not there a lot, but because he's amazing, I hope he's there the next time we visit!
Wonderful sushi, the best I've had to date in the Hudson valley. Small, comfortable location. Decent amount of parking considering how busy Rhinebeck gets. Have to have a little patience in our hurried world as good food is worth waiting for. Will definitely return
Osaka is one of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been to < upstate or downstate :- ) >. This family owned and operated gem makes you feel like you are at a friend’s house for dinner…. Beginning the first time you dine in or out, they take the time to know your name, your food preferences and continue to treat you like a royal guest each time. Sit at the sushi bar and chat it up with Chef, or go with a group of friends…. I think my favorite is having my check delivered by the 3rd generation …. Osaka never disappoints!
I love the fish here and to thing...i was going to Kingston before I realized I could get my sushi fix in Rhinebeck! The service is always kind and friendly -- the waitress remembers us and is very gracious. The atmosphere is casual and we always sit at the bar. I recommend it and even to go solo!
I had an absolutely amazing experience at Osaka Sushi in Rhinebeck, NY. The shirashi ($28) I ordered was nothing short of perfection – the fresh and generous assortment of sashimi on a bed of sushi rice was a true delight for my taste buds. The quality of the ingredients was top-notch, and the presentation was beautiful. The service was impeccable, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I can't wait to return for another delightful dining experience!
This place was the best it was so wonderful I got seated really fast and I got my food really fast then I met a kid named Xander he was so kind and joyful I love this place
This little place is my favorite for rolls and sushi. They don't have an extensive menu so what they do offer, is made very well. I tried it for the first time during the pandemic so I could only take out, but I look forward to meeting friends here as it has a very cozy, friendly vibe.
Osaka doesn’t look like much from the outside but once inside and the food comes, you will be pleasantly surprised. The delicious rolls were very well prepared and presented. Although the Japanese beer was not draught, it was ice cold and served as a perfect accompaniment to the main entrees.
I’ve been a grateful customer since they first opened. I had the curry chicken and a garden roll today. It was amazing, as always! Even though I’m now living in Manhattan, Osaka is far and away my favorite Japanese restaurant ❤️

Good service and good food
Always good.
Good sushi
Mejor sushi in Rhinebeck
Great food. Better to takeout than sit in. Faster service
Food was excellent but the people next to us were VERY loud!!
Nice place. Great service. Food was yummy.
Good food, good service, friendly atmosphere
Had a sushi combo, the food was fresh tasting and not dry. Place is a little small and only accommodates one or two larger parties. There's adequate sushi bar seating.
I was in the mood for Japanese when I found this little restaurant hidden behind everything else! The food was rockstar good and the people were friendly. I go to a Culinary school and I love good food...uni rolls are to die for!
Great food. Small though which when very busy can make it overwhelming if you're hard of hearing or have any auditor sensitive issues.
probably the best sushi in the area, though that is not really saying much. very friendly, attentive staff.
The food is always great. I am Japanese myself and recommend the sushi. The miso soup could use a but more flavor, but it is the same in about any restaurant aside from homemade. The fish is always fresh and the drinks were prefect.
The good: •exceptionally well-priced sushi •mountains of sushi •all of the sushi •did I mention the sushi? •impressively telepathic waitstaff The not-so-good: •Mai tai needed a little work This place was a total gem! Very small inside but if we lived in the area, this would be our Friday Night Dinner Spot. The waitstaff weirdly seemed to know exactly what we needed before we asked (that was pretty cool) and the piles of sushi that we ordered at pre-pandemic prices were delicious. I love this place and wish I could have taken the whole restaurant back home with us.
Great food....very fresh...service was great. Atmosphere is cramped....the place is very small. Everyone is very nice though

Wasn't impressed with sushi menu. Went in during lunch hour and it was quiet.
Excellent sushi, meats overcooked. Service was prompt.
Small and quiet with good service but the food was middling ; and fonging the bathroom required directions from staff. Parking barely adequate.
If you want table service be sure to call in advance. While the restaurant closes at 9 PM, we arrived at 8:20 and were brusquely told we couldn’t have table service and needed to order takeout. The staff didn’t demonstrate any concern when we mentioned we had traveled some distance specifically b/c the they were open until 9pm. It was mostly full and people didn’t look like they were leaving anytime soon. We chose to leave and go to Momiji, enjoyed a leisurely meal and weren’t rushed out even after their posted closing time.

Far from what you could expect from a Japanese restaurant, or not anymore. Overrated, as a lot of places in Rhinebeck...
We were there for lunch. Average to poor food. Nice service. The entry hall way to the restaurant was simply scruffy, with a couple of flyers on the floor and the floor dirty. This really detracted from any dining experience.

Sushi joints are not created equal. And because of the bad experiences I've had over the years at bogus sushi places I don't eat sushi unless I know that it is prepared by an authentic Japanese sushi chef or under the direction of such a person. Why? Because authentic Japanese sushi chefs are highly trained, they are first-rate (sanitary) food handlers, and they are people of such integrity that they won't serve fish that they know should be thrown away. Osaka has not such a person. And, to make a long story short, let me just say that I was disappointed even worse than I had been before as the rainbow roll I was served to go at that place looked nothing like the picture and the meager portion of fish placed on the very top of the roll looked so old that I didn't dare to even taste it. Straight to the trash it went. I was just passing through Rhinebeck and had ordered the food to go. I live 45 minutes away; otherwise I would have returned the food for a full refund.
