Two consecutive 1-star reviews that start with "I usually don't post/review" ? Yea, OK... Anyway I have been going to this place for years. It's a bit out of the way since I am from Ozone Park but it's totally worth the trouble. Their food is fresh. You will notice right away when you order a beef fried rice and wonder why it tastes so good. The rice and lo mein are both fantastic and don't taste like any other Chinese take out. Their crab meat sticks are awesome too. But the real star is their Wortip Wontons. I have yet to find a place anywhere else I've been, in and out of NYC, that serves this. It's hard to explain but think of a wonton soup dumpling that is pan fried in a savory dark brown sauce. It is my favorite dumpling and it's 12 for ~$5. It's a must try since no one else makes it.

Food is good, prices are average and my son loves their chicken broccoli. Some days are better than others for some reason.

Clean and inviting. Curteous and timely service. Eggplant cooked in garlic sauce, mildly spicy with white rice is what I always order. Deeelicious!

Great staff,nice and if you become a regular they are funny too. Awesome food at great price. Never had a bad meal unlike some of the chinese spots near here. I usually get pork dumplings and Singapore mai fun with no chicken. love them, best chinese around here. They deliver, but I like going in to say hi to the guys.

Pretty standard Chinese food restaurant. The food took about 10 minutes so that was pretty quick. The food tasted good and fresh. The staff was efficient but not so friendly, which isn’t too uncommon. All in all, I give this place four stars because the food was good but not the best that I have had.

I went out of my way to go to this place and I was left unsatisfied. Don't think I'll be giving it another try... I recommend Hong Kong Gourmet get the coconut shrimp

For a while the latest management at Golden Fountain have raised prices for combo platters and many menu options, while meanwhile in a quart of won Ton soup reducing the number of won tons.. it’s sleazy business practice 101 and exemplary of the new owners in place for past couple of years.. this change took place less than a year ago.

I've been ordering from this place for 15+ years and recently found it they changed owners. The food does not taste the same which is very sad. I wouldn't say that there is anything wrong with them but it's a heart breaking experience that the food I've loved for so long doesn't taste the way I want it to.

I was really disappointed in the restaurant. I ate at this place when it was originally across the street. They relocated to Brooklyn and returned to the current location. I traveled from Cali to find out that they don’t cook Lobster Cantonese or the crab. It was their signature dish. I can’t say I would make a special effort to return there again . 😔

To the owner of Golden Fountain Kitchen, I will not be ordering from your restaurant any longer, due to the rude attitude of the young man who answers the phone/takes phone orders. There has been numerous occasions when this young man has taken our food order and he has had the attitude like he's doing you a favor, and that he's annoyed that you called. This leads me to believe that he is being rude and unpleasant to your other customers as well. I hope you take heed to this criticism as the future of your business may be at stake.

What a waste of money. It was tasteless and some sides were burnt. The bag was full of oil. No side condiments provided, not even a napkin! My dog didn’t even finish it.

I’ve been eating at this restaurant since I moved to the neighborhood 25 years ago when they used to be located across the street on the corner. The best thing about this place is the food is fresh and delicious and if you have a sensitive pallet they are always willing to go light on the sauce or heavy on the hot sauce however you like it but you got to speak up. Szechuan food is made to be tasty and spicy whereas Cantonese is more tame but both are delicious! Never be afraid to ask for what you want in this world! At Golden Fountain usually if you ask, you get what you want! I gave 4 stars because even in my own cooking, I am always seeking to improve as none of us are 100% perfect but Golden Fountain is pretty darn close when it comes to fast, yummy, authentic Chinese cooking! Update: Golden Fountain has been sold to new owners I no longer stand by my review sadly another neighborhood favorite gone. They stayed with the name “Golden Fountain” so don’t be fooled. They are not the original owners. The food is just OK now. So sorry the original owners retired after 30 years in business. Not that they don’t deserve to enjoy their golden years, less than they serve the community well. I just no longer recommend this restaurant. I’m sorry.

It was strange because almost immediately I noticed the difference in food taste, and it wasn’t in a positive direction. I’m heartbroken that one of my Kew Gardens staples is no more. I wish the old owners a happy and healthy retirement. Wish they left the cookbook before they departed 😢

If I could I would give this place zero stars the food is horrible. Wasted money on ribs that were burnt dry and disgusting, lomein not fresh tasting. I'm very disappointed. My whole family complained about there dishes vegetable egg foo young, even the wonton soup.

I have been going to this restaurant for many years. Not only do I order but my company order as well all through out the week. I received my last two orders which was HORTIBLE. I asked for extra brown sauce on my Broccoli and beef. It came VERY DRY. I asked for my Shrimp wong tong soup to have extra Bochow or what ever the green vegetable they use. They send me a PLAIN SOUP. I called and 3 people got on phone. The owner or the Old Man was very very RUDE and SCREAMING AT ME Then he put another young man on phone who keep telling me SORRY. HORRIBLE SERVICE TO CUSTOMER. No need to ever disrepect your CUSTOMER IN THIS MANNER. I will let my company know of this and his actions. As a Attorney they are insulting and totally unprofessional. Uncaring as well as critical RUDE. I realize there is a Virus going on. But you would like think GOLDEN FOUNTAIN would embrace the service. NEVER AGAIN. IF THEY TREAT ALL CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS HOW DO THEY EXPECT TO STAY IN BUSINESS DURING THESE CRITICAL TIMES.

WOW JUST WOW i ordered tofu soup and chicken lomein and when i come to the park there is no spoon or fork and i call them and they hang up in me and then i call again i start talking and all the sudden they put me on hold! So dont go there and service no good .

Do not order from here. My husband and I got some food last night, plain pork fried rice with chicken wings and two egg rolls, and we got food poisoning. Stay away!

Waited an hour and a half for horrible food. Egg rolls were soggy, crackers for soup were stale, rice was hard, soup was nasty would not recommend.

Even taken some consideration of the holiday and weather, 1 hour and 47 minutes to wait for one small sweet and sour chicken, 1 egg roll, chicken broth and a small white rice was ridiculous. When I called 1 hour waiting, the person on the phone said my food was there and ready and that they were just waiting on the delivery guy. That means, the food had been sitting there for a minimum of 45 min. Once the food arrived, i quickly opened it and the contents were barely warm. In fact, i took a bite of the egg roll and spit it out because it was stale, very cold and tasted horrible. The rice had a wierd smell to it and I threw that away as well. Very disappointed.

What just happened? I ordered chicken dumplings, boneless spare ribs and Wortips wonton. Dumplings and wontons were full of dough and tasteless. Dough was so much that each appetizer would qualify as full meal. They both were not edible as there was zero taste or flavor. I am shocked. Then I ate spare ribs which had little taste but were also super low quality. Ate only 1/3 of food and rest is going garbage can. Never ordering again from these guys. Complete waste of time and money (around $22). I am going to feel guilty for days for eating so much junk :(

Rude, unprofessional, low-quality! I don't usually leave reviews but I need to warn others before they purchase food from this poor excuse for an establishment. Here's my experience: 1. Food: Chicken was fresh as in uncleaned; there were bones in my chicken and broccoli; and I received 10 small pieces of chicken and heaping mound of oily vegetables. 2. Service: Called to order, speaker assumed I was picking up; when I said "no," the phone was given mid-sentence to another person. Second person was rude and didn't wait for me to ask about the price before the phone was slammed down. Called back to confirm the price, got two different pricing (as there were obviously confused about how much their food costs), topped off with a hot, steaming attitude. Politely cancelled the order and immediately wrote this review. For the sake of your stomach and sanity - DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!

The food was straight garbage- i ordered steamed pork dumplings and boneless spareribs w/ pork fried rice-everything was salty and super bitter. The dumpling filling literally tasted like vinegar- it seriously disgusted me so bad that i will never eat Chinese food ever. Never again

I don't usually post but I felt I needed to. My family and I have been eating at Golden Fountain for quite some time now but after November 23,2016 we will never ever eat there again. We ordered sesame chicken, chicken fried rice, chicken wings and chicken & broccoli. After about 1-1.5 hrs after eating my entire family became sick with severe stomach pains, vomiting and all the rest that comes with food poisoning, if you get my drift. As I write this we are still trying to recoup from the bad food we ate from there. Not only was our Thanksgiving the following day ruined because we all still felt sick and couldn't eat, we could not even enjoy time with family because we were still so weak. I just pray this doesn't happen to anyone else. I hope this place gets inspected by the health dept and made to clean up their act!

A poor immigrant was eating, someone had taken him there for a meal before he tried to make his way to Woodhaven then a church in Manhattan for assistance. When the lady didn’t think anyone heard she told him to get out and not solicit. She spoke to him in such a hateful manner. Animals get treated better. No kindness, no humanity, no compassion or empathy. I won’t ever come here again. She may have been nice to me but the way she treated this gentleman shows how ugly she really is inside.

It took awhile for delivery at least 45 minutes, we ordered the usual chicken and shrimp with mixed vegetables in garlic sauce. as we open it it is not appetizing at all, looks so soupy, sweet sauce not a garlic sauce, and it was slightly cold. The vegetables are overcooked, the mini corn taste funny like spoiled or old vegetables, broccoli is to soft the shrimp taste old too, it was really disgusting taste that we end up throwing in the garbage , and they forgot to put the hot oil sauce on sides too, we didn't have the time to call to replace it for we are about to leave but this is the last time we are gonna order here.

Just ordered for old times sake. Disappointed. Like others have mentioned, the quality is not as high as in the past. I used to order from this place three times a week. I have/ had been a customer for 54 years. Gasp! But only order when I think the food I am getting can’t be screwed up. I shouldn’t have done it. Their recipes changed about two decades ago. These were time tested and well liked recipes. Yes, they used to make their own egg rolls. On Wednesdays. I’d go then to order a couple. They were large, made on the premises and delicious. Not like the crap they sell you now. The roast pork slices and ends that used to be tender and scrumptious had the recipe of the sauce changed. From delicious to this blah dish they make now. Sad. Where is the flavor the chefs used to impart in their food! Chefs change but the recipes never should have been toyed with. The folks who eat there now have no idea what they’re missing. I am glad they can enjoy it. But it is garbage. Not worth it. I remember calling to ask why the recipes changed after thirty five plus years. The answer was a dumb one and not worth relating. I am guessing at some point new owners came in and gummed up the works. To bad. If you do order, remember to insist they put your food into the old fashioned carton containers so the hot, searing food is not melting and gassing off in the plastic containers they put the hot food in now. Idiocy.
