I finally got to try Solita and it was good. They offer spacious seating areas for large groups or a warm cozy spot for 2. The decor and colors of green and yellow gives a calming and inviting atmosphere. The chicken and waffles with the hot honey was delicious. The hot honey wasn't "hot" but the flavor 😋 was on point. The drink options were exciting and different. I love trying new things. Unfortunately, "Old Sport" was not it (I do not recommend). The idea sound amazing however, the unexpected flavor of black licorice and cough medicine was what I tasted. My server was amazing, patient and helpful with the menu.
My wife and I had a great time tonight at Bar Solita. We sat at the bar to take advantage of the happy hour specials and Sierra was an amazing bartender. Everything she recommended was very. The food and drinks were so good but her service and company made the night for us. We definitely will be returning.
Been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time and I finally did! I had an amazing experience. My best friend and I were in the area and decided to dine in, around 7:30pm. There was a 30 min wait for a table and immediate seating at the bar which was perfect!!! Sierra was our bartender and she took such great care of us. If you want delicious and creative drinks definitely ask for Sierra and Josh.
Incredible menu and ambiance. Caden made us feel so welcomed and has a very great personality. Loved the Old Bay Chicken Biscuit and home fries. Very impressive drink menu too. Highly recommend
This was a great place to eat. Definitely try the Solita Mule cocktail, I also recommend the shrimp n grits! Our server Grayson was the best and hilarious 10/10 experience
Walked in a Sunday morning for brunch without a reservation. Got seated right away. Food and service were amazing!! Will be back!
Great place to grab brunch! I was able to get a breakfast quesadilla and that was a very good option. Our server Sara was very helpful in helping us pick our orders and also recommended great drinks as well.
Great atmosphere & beautiful decor with plenty of different seating options. Daisy our server was great. Everything on the menu looked great, but we decided to go with the shrimp and grits, the Old Bay spicy chicken biscuit, and the (GIGANTIC) shareable cinnamon bun. For drinks we tried the mimosa with passionfruit, the hot Carajillo coffee cocktail, and the Bloody Mary (+ Spicy + “the works”. Everything was delicious. Make reservations. :)
Industry person here offering a review of my experience during recent Thursday evening visit. Bartender Dylan was busy this particular night due to several groups in house. He still was prompt in his greeting, offered up the cocktail and food menus, returning to the service bar cocktail orders. He did have support from fellow staff, and overall the venue appeared “staffed right”, attentive and friendly. I had a Honey, I’m Home cocktail to start, and the very tasty Birria Egg rolls. My cocktail was a mixture of local ingredients, Mead, ginger infused Vodka, ginger shrub, apple, and bitters. Tasted delicious, very nice balance. This bar has some very interesting craft cocktails which I’ll try next time. I closed with a Dylan original cocktail. A sangria, Tuaca Brandy, and spiced pear reduction blend that was a sweeter ending to my visit and tasted great. Clean, organized bar, good staff chemistry, bartender on point, wonderful menu of modestly priced food and beverages. Five star experience, and kudos to staff and management for success given challenges today. Definitely worth a return visit.
My friends and I had the most lovely night tonight with our bartender Sierra! She gave us tips for the menu and helped us with drink suggestions. Everything was exceptional, and we will definitely be back!
I love Bar Solita! I’ve been several times and it just keeps getting better. The food is amazing and the staff is wonderful. We brought our children (ages 4, 2, and 5 months) and they were flexible and accommodating with all of their needs. I would highly recommend and I can’t wait to come back!
Stopped by this little gem for brunch during my Bachelorette party. We had the pineapple mimosas, chicken and waffles, and spinach chicken salad. Literally the best chicken and waffles I've ever put in my mouth! The spinach salad was delicious also and enough to feed at least two people! Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
We came to this restaraunt for vegan week and it is now one of our favorites in the city. Everything was so good, they had a fill non alcoholic drink menu, great cocktails, lots of vegan or vegan optional options. Would definitely recommend.
Bar Solita is a lovely restaurant in downtown Richmond, VA. We had reservations for Thanksgiving and grateful they were open. Our waitstaff (the mighty) Quinn was exceptional and so friendly. Looking out for us, but not intrusive during our meal. He even took time to take our photo in front of the beautiful mural in the restaurant. The cocktails were spot on and very enjoyable. We opted for the small plates over the traditional Thanksgiving fare that was also offered. The food was delicious. My partner and I especially enjoyed the wings and the mozzarella sticks were some of the best I ever had. The room had a relaxing vibe and was very comfortable. I look forward to visiting again the next time I am in Richmond.
I’ve been here a few times. This time was for brunch. The food was good as well as service. I have never had a bad meal here. I had the Mediterranean Omelet, with home fries and fresh fruit. Not pictured I had a Bold Rock Hard Cider on draft.
Pros and cons from a DC foodie: Pros Shrimp and grits were flavorful. Serving size was perfect. Espresso martini was good and at a great price Cake service is only $20 Aesthetic is beautiful Plating was well done Timing was good Parking was easy to find Easy last minute reservation for a group of 10 Cons Caesar wrap could use more dressing Grits were greasy, but still good!
I go to Bar Solita every birthday and it never disappoints. I mean NEVER. The food was delicious and our server of course was fabulous. Highly recommend Sunday brunch.
Gorgeous. Well lit and well decorated. Ambiance was right up my alley. We shared a bunch of tapas and tacos. All delicious. Our waiter, Ben I believe, was ah-mazing! So nice and amazing, friendly service! Absolutely loved our food. We also shared the bread pudding which was recommended by our waiter and he was not wrong! The coffee was even good and we are picky coffee drinkers. Zero complaints. Only praise!
This is a great restaurant, we had some appetizers, the brussel sprouts and their food slate (charcuterie), we then shared their double burger plate. They have a good selection of beers and wines, tap beers are plentiful with about 10 choices. The food was very tasty, service was very attentive and prices were pretty good, considering you are in a big city. The restaurant has street parking which didn't seem a problem and is located right opposite the Quirk Hotel. I would definitely recommend it.
Came in on a weekend with my partner and the kind host up front (I believe her name was sage?) was an absolute ray of sunshine!!! She was able to squeeze us in when they were really busy and was a delight to speak with. The food was also so good, however i miss the pizza I haven’t been in a minute and wasn’t aware of the change but the atmosphere was still great and so was my order. 10/10 i should frequent the place.
We had a great time dining here for brunch. The food was good, great atmosphere and the service was phenomenal. Would definitely recommend!
Ben was the BEST made our first time at Bar Solita a great experience. Super attentive and timely, but most of all incredibly funny and considerate. MATCHED OUR VIBE and celebrated with us! We love you Ben!
My wife and I have been long time fans of Bar Solita and we will often bring family and friends here but our latest visit was just the two of us. We sat at the bar and had another amazing time. Sierra and Josh were very busy but always made time to chat with us and make sure we had everything we needed. As always the cocktails were well crafted, beautiful and of course very tasty. We can always count on having a good time with a great atmosphere at Bar Solita. Thanks again!
Daisy was top notch as our server. The tapas were first rate, highly recommend Solitas for pre Altria events of all kinds. Easy 10 minute walk or 4 minute Uber ride. The Harrissa wings, the biria egg rolls, and the lamb lollipops are 5 star.
We went to Bar Solita recently for a friend's birthday dinner and had a great experience! They were able to accommodate our 7-top on short notice (the party included our 7-month old, and although they offered a high chair, we kept her in the stroller and had no problems with space). The food was delicious and our server, Edwin, was very friendly and attentive.
I planned a work event at Bar Solita a couple of weeks ago and we had a wonderful experience. The space was perfect for our group of 35. All of the food was delicious! We ordered several family-style dishes which worked out really well for our group which included both omnivores and vegetarians. Our servers Grayson and Edwin provided excellent service. I will also add that the planning process was easy and seamless.
This spot saved wifey and I’s Valentine’s Day night out. The food was great, I got the birria eggs rolls, which didn’t miss. Our bartender Josh was top tier, he definitely turned us into repeat customers.
Grayson gave us an amazing experience from as soon we sat down till the final act of the meal… breakfast shots. Needless to say, I love him. I wish every waiter in RVA took lessons from Grayson on how to service and host the culinary experience Grayson provided me and my friends.
Ben T was the best!! We had a great evening. The drinks and food were so good. The vibes were great. And our server was awesome! We came here for a celebration and definitely felt celebrated. Will be coming back again!
We recently hosted my father's wake at Bar Solita. We needed a large space on fairly short notice, and the crew there went above and beyond to accommodate us during a very stressful personal time, compounded by the difficulties presented by the ice and snow. Evan, the GM, and his staff were professional, kind, and extremely easy to work with. The food and drinks were ample and delicious. I'll always be grateful for the way the Bar Solita team took care of us on one of the worst days of my life.
Some friends and I went to Bar Solita last night for a drink and it was amazing! We made reservations in advance, so we were able to chat with the host, Sage, as our table was prepped. She was super sweet and funny and made the very short wait worth it. Our drinks were fantastic, and we also ordered the Birria Eggrolls (still thinking about how good these were). Our server was super great and attentive, too. This is an awesome place to hang out with friends and grab a quick bite to eat, I’ll definitely be back.
Awesome decorations both at Christmastime and for Valentine’s Day that make the atmosphere so great, but the service is what makes this place incredible. Sierra and Josh go above and beyond to make for a great experience and make this place truly stand out in an already impressive restaurant scene.
This place was amazing! After searching for a good restaurant for what seemed like forever, we finally stumbled across this restaurant and the vibes were great and the service was event better! Our server, Caden was attentive and took great care of us! I will absolutely be back next time I’m in Richmond! The old bay chicken biscuit was delicious!!
Bar Solita is one of my fav places in Richmond! The food is always great and so is the service. We joined for Valentine’s Day and the special menu was awesome! Grayson was our server which made the entire experience even better. He was very knowledgeable, nice, and helpful. Definitely recommend this spot for Brunch or Dinner!
Visited for Valentine’s Day brunch. Had a reservation, didn’t have to wait to be seated. Atmosphere was 5/5 for the Valentines Day pop-up bar and theme. Our server was great, and gave good suggestions, 4/5 for service for the food and drinks taking some time to arrive at the table (understandable given the holiday) and 4/5 for food and drinks themselves as they tasted great and worth the price. The mimosa flight was an excellent suggestion from our server. Spent overall ~$101 for two with food/drinks being ~$70 and $30 tip. I would return here and highly recommend visiting!
Had the absolute best experience for my birthday! Our server Grayson was the greatest of all time! He was friendly, attentive, and so fun! He also did the Valentine’s Day art on the windows which was amazing! He also sent out a bday ice cream treat. Amazing experience, I’ll be back for sure!
Our party of four just finished a wonderful evening here. This was our first visit, and everything was great. Our appetizers were the Brussels sprouts (nicely roasted and glazed, not mushy) and the Birria rolls (yum). Two of us enjoyed the cocktail menu, especially the Danse Macabre - unlike any cocktail I've ever tasted. Dinner was the shrimp & grits, the honeyed salmon with quinoa, a sandwich and a salad. We all shared everything, and it was all scrumptious. We finished with crème brulee - which floated us away on clouds. Outstanding - possibly the best we've ever had. Our server, Ben, was attentive, friendly and professional. Strongly recommend!
I made a reservation for Valentine’s days and it was wonderful. The pop-up decorations were perfect and the holiday menu had delicious drinks and food options. Our server was Grayson and he was super knowledgeable of the menu and had some great drink recommendations. Looking forward to visiting again once their pizza oven is back up and running!
We were in town for the weekend and spotted this cute spot for a late brunch. The ambiance is super cute and the staff were very friendly. I ordered the steak Cesar wrap and for me it was just okay. I felt it was lacking flavor to the dish. I did order the shareable cinnamon roll and that did not disappoint!! I also ordered their mimosa flight…it was good and had great options but the bar was super slow. I ended up finally receiving the drinks just before our food came out. I would definitely try this place again!
We were in town for Thanksgiving, and we got the Thanksgiving plate for lunch. The plate included varieties from a portion of turkey, pumpkin, beans, and mashed potatoes. It was tasty but expected a bigger portion of turkey given the price. So.e friends tried the salmon, hummus with pitta which are also great dishes. Highly recommend to try this place out if you are in Richmond
The atmosphere is nice, the staff was very friendly. I love their spin on some foods. My food wasn't seasoned very well, and my home fries were not fresh. Maybe a one-off situation, as the food seems elevated. Everywhere I go, I try the Expresso Martini. This one was really good. Not too sweet, it was perfect! I'll have to try the food again next time I'm in Richmond.
Great place for a good time with friends. Brunch menu is pretty neat with a wide range of selections. We shared the hug cinnamon bun as a table, highly recommend! Breakfast enchiladas and French toast were big hits. Their chicken biscuit is out of this world. Portions definitely encourage sharing and we did! Flatbread was tasty too
Great food and atmosphere. Have only been for brunch on Saturdays, but have enjoyed it each time. A bit pricy, but very solid! Unfortunately there is no kids menu.
Nice atmosphere, server. Food is ok. I'd go back to try other food/drink options. Closer to 3.5 stars for now.
Nice vibe Great cocktails And plenty of options for vegetarians The Brussels sprouts and Empanadas were the favorite for our group of 8. Pasta was also pretty tasteful. The double falafel burger was nice but it would have been nice if it had couple of sauces added. Their mango cheesecake in dessert was also delicious. Overall good spot for celebrations and casual night out.
I was visiting Richmond this past weekend for Mother’s Day, me, my aunt, and cousin came in, immediately sat down upstairs but my aunt asked to change seats which was for the better. The passionfruit mimosas were delicious, the vibe was very chill & lovely. Clayton did his thing!!! He killed it, made sure we were comfortable, amazing guy! The reason why I’m giving the spot 4 stars was because our food could’ve been warmer and my chicken from the chicken and waffle was not fully cooked. The chicken was full of fat! My cousins sandwich looked amazing. The chicken and waffles need to be cooked like the sandwiches, fully done & crispy’
A great place to go after work and on the weekend. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The bar is amazing. All the bartenders are friendly and pour great drinks. Sierra is my favorite. She provides great friendly service while serving excellent drinks and food. Being an ex restaurant manager I know how important it is for staff to provide a high level of service while being naturally human - not a robot bringing you food and drinks. She is certainly an asset to the establishment.
Its a trendy place. Food was good but average. Price doesn't match, but that's a downtown restaurant for ya. The cinnamon bun is huge and worth trying.
1. When the server brought our water, he noticed something on one of the glasses and said he’ll bring another glass. And that is when I also noticed a lipstick print on my glass and asked to swap my water as well. (I honestly don’t know why we didn’t leave right away - dirty glasses is obviously a bad sign) 2. We got drip coffee with creamer. Asked the hostess for a spoon to mix the creamer. After I mixed my coffee and flipped the spoon to lay it rest on a plate - I noticed a brown spot on it, and as I touched it with my finger - it looked like an old spot of chocolate that got melted, so it was left from someone who was eating dessert with this spoon before. 3. The food tasted bad. My potatoes were very dry. Chicken was also very dry with an old coating fried in an old oil. 4. Server was trying to be nice and he was, but - I couldn’t certainly tell he was apathetic to the job.. I am not judging here, but it does create a sad atmosphere, where you just feel bad for a server that he’s kinda forced to work there, I don’t know..He brought the check with the pen I could barely write with.. 5. There were breadcrumbs on a table, and the windowsill was very dusty.. I’ve taken pictures of the food, it looks better than it tastes. I feel bad leaving this review, but I mean it’s the truth. I wish it was a different experience as when we looked the place up - it looked much better on the pictures..
I wanted to like Bar Solita a lot but problem after problem kept arising throughout the dinner. I will say the hostess working the night of my reservation was exceptionally kind and was a great introduction to the restaurant. Unfortunately due to a table that wouldn’t leave we were seated as the only table upstairs which unfortunately did add delays and reduce how often we saw our server to order food and drinks. Unfortunately though that wasn’t a huge disappointment as the food and drinks were not at we hoping. The lamb which to be fair was ordered pink came raw twice and it’s really not hard to tell the difference between rare lamb (which is normal) and raw lamb (the second round was even hard to cut). Additionally despite asking for the steak to be cooked medium instead of medium rare it came rare at best and unfortunately completely cold (including the broccolini and potatoes). The last concern is that thanks to our Birds Eye view we could clearly see not one, not two, but three employees use cocktail straws to try my mothers drink before it made its way to our table. While this may have been innocent it was definitely funny and slightly uncomfortable to see live. As mentioned earlier the service was slow due to us being so far away and the table was not bussed often between phases of the meal meaning the table got very crowded with plates. One saving grace is absolutely the staff who were all very nice. Notably our waiter remembered that we were looking forward to the cookie skillet and held the last once for us which was very kind of him. Ultimately I don’t think I would return.
