Fun ambiance, and affordable for NY drinks. love the slightly quieter part in the back.
Great staff, great lineups, solid drinks! Definitely coming back here again
This place totally slaps. Great beer selection, awesome outside space, favorite bar in the neighborhood. Full stop.
Great place to drink or see a show. One issue, young man at door charged us double the advertised price of admission.
Had a great time. The staff were friendly and the venue downstairs sounded awesome.
Funky neighborhood bar with great selection of music acts! The owner is very knowledgeable & has been booking shows all over Brooklyn for years, supporting tons of local bands. He’s also an activist for the disabled community. Definitely a business to support!
I love going to shows at this place because they know what they're doing with the sound. The drinks are cheap too, and the bartenders are warm and friendly. I always have a good time here.
I have to love a bar that has Cider on tap. I was performing in a show here. Excellent professional performance space and a really good professional bar to boot. Jonah, my bar tender was really personable and attentive throughout the evening. Can’t wait to go back here again!
pretty cute place, i went while concussed and unable to drink because of it so i don't know what the drinks were like, but my boyfriend got a drink and said they pour light so depends on who you are wether or not you like that, i definitley prefer a lighter pour than a heavier one, but all in all the atmosphere was amazing, and free water was a plus! also bathrooms were so adorable, general dive bar bathroom vibes and judging by the stickers this is a queer hotspot, big big vibes
Best happy hour in bwick/rwood
Love this bar. Its warm and sensual vibe makes me wish the night would never end. Furthermore, all the bartenders are nice and funny and hot. They are professionals who make the drinks strong and tasty.
Service was great. Order the lobster Fried Rice quickly to avoid a wait. I came in at an odd time, so the Lobster Rice took a minute, but they took very good care of me until it did come out. I recommend to anyone looking for a bite to eat, or cocktail to hang out around
Bar Freda is my neighborhood bar. Samson is great there, he's always quick with a joke or to light up your smoke. Love Jonah, Danielle too. Good vibes always. Good music. Feels like you know everyone there. Hard to feel like you got a community in NYC. Freda helps! Say hi to me when you're there!
Shows, drinkies, lovely folks (all of them), and a fiber-optic cloud-laden ceiling. A part of a well-balanced diet.
Service was great from the bartenders, and.we truly went for the underground bands. So much fun and great space. Reasonably priced and no complaints!
Ransom Pier ( Haley) out of sight, out of sight.sounds better live than on Spotify and she sounds great on Spotify. Fabulous talent. If you can see her,,, go
Fantastic locally-owned neighborhood spot. The real deal. And a great venue for music.
A dive bar which includes a performance space? A space where characters are enabled and blossom. This place has to be supported. Something like this can't be ignored.
Bar Freda was dope. Caught some live music in the basement. The sound man let me get a song off real quick too. I appreciate that.
This bar is great. The customer service is fantastic, the creativity of each cocktail is 10/10. Will keep returning!
Great place for fun and live music. Music downstairs. Bar is upstairs. Upstairs on the big screen they had a Mel Brooks marathon with captions so you could enjoy the movies while listening to a killer punk playlist that the bartenders compile.
Amazing place to come to hang with friends. The diet coke is 3 dollars and i got free refills! I saw the band Pleasure Death who was phenomenal! They also have open mic on Monday. Come early because it fills up very quick. The vibe is amazing. They have films and TV shows playing in the background over some music witch is totally cool. There are 3 restroom, all gender neutral. I would definitely come back again.
Very cool spot to see some punk and other music. The bands play in the basement. But people come up and tell the crowd to return for the next set. Really good practice that more clubs should have in order to have a strong scene again.
Was looking around Queens for a music venue that featured underground local talent and was impressed with Bar Freda’s setup - a spacious street level bar with a chill vibe, ample room to spread out, and even comfortable bench seating! Head down a flight of stairs to the basement level and there’s a long space with a lot of head room and floor area to enjoy the bands. The sound was impeccable as well with a solid sound engineer managing the mixing and keeping the bands on point. All around a sick spot to catch a show, hang with friends and enjoy the Queens vibe. Can’t wait for the next gig! Thanks Freda!
Not a single French person ever made it to this place. Thus it is good.
Love Bar Freda!! Danielle, Austin, Samson and everyone else on staff are absolutely excellent. Prices are fair for the area and it never takes too long to get a drink. The shows and events downstairs are absolutely awesome and there are usually djs upstairs on the weekend. The owners have really worked hard to foster a sense of community. In you’re in Ridgewood, you should absolutely check out Bar Freda.
This place is exactly what you were missing if you're a humanist and care about community or enjoy alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages and independent music. LGBTQIA+ safe space.
Vibes! Great neighborhood place with solid cocktails and live music. $6 happy old fashioneds keeping the NYC dream alive...
Cheap, strong drinks. Plenty of outdoor seating. Filthy rock music inside. Laidback bartenders. Go!

Awesome little spot! Absolutely loved it! The basement entertainment area was great, had very good sound! The service was wonderful!
My Airbnb was around the corner and I was looking for a cool bar to chill at. I found one. Stayed till close two nights in a row. The DJ was fantastic both nights. The bartenders are the reason I went back. Had some epic conversations. I’ll be back in May. Make time for Freda!
Came by on a Saturday, it was great! (They also started opening at noon on Saturdays now, which is a plus) they have happy hour every day 5-8 and again midnight until 2am. $6 draft beers, $6 wines and $6 beer + shot. I went for the beer + shot deal, because I like like my tequila :) I didn’t try the wines but my friend did and she dug it. Good service. Good deals. Great vibes. This is now my go to bar when I’m in Ridgewood! Next time I’ll come for the late night happy hour.
This place is great. Awesome drinks, friendly and very hospitable owner, cool crowd. Nice place to stop in if you’re on Seneca in Ridgewood!
Best Happy Hour in Ridgewood and maybe all of NYC.
Alas I came in the evening to hear a friend, Dorree (guitarist) and her drummer play some of their old and new material… there is a cozy space downstairs with a stage + light show … we all had a lively lovely time and listening to Dorree sing, well worth the ride in from Manhattan…. Wonderful evening upstairs booths, bar( loaded with Halloween treats) good priced cocktails, beer and wine on skanning the drinks menu( was not imbibing as I was there to also film the sets.
Went to see a show last night there and had amazing time. Ordered the chai old fashioned and honestly it was one of the better old-fashions I've had. The venue is really cool because the show was actually in the basement, but it kind of reminded me of being back in the '90s watching a grunge set.

Cool spot for shows... sound guy knows what he is doing
Fun atmosphere, we went to see a show in the downstairs and grabbed drinks after. The bartenders have great personalities and are attentive
Weird and wonderful place. Great for private gatherings with a bit of an edge
Chill vibes, queer inclusive. 🆓 wifi. Nice Bao 🥘

I left a hoodie and a scarf after my band played. So I came when they opened and they told me it wasn’t there without so much as even looking or letting me look. They charged the band for drinks and didn’t pay us a dime, even thought we brought the most people by far.
Cool bar Went in for a drink on 4/28 and instead of the bartender attending his customers he was on his phone the whole time acting like he did not see you so get ready to get ignored lol. Overall cool atmosphere and great music
Got a good spot in the basement ;)
I'd frequent years ago. Feels like a stripped down version a little bit now. Decent munchies, ok-ish service unless you develop report "want some action, wave an Andrew Jackson kinda thing" depending on the person. Miss the indies nights and musicians/comedy open mics. Used to be like 2-4 a week. I'm glad that on the way that somethings never change- every night; somethings up. One of those places you can tailor it to your experience

Had a pretty bad time here. Came to see a show downstairs. The "Manager" was completely drunk and the sound person was pretty mean to my friends who were playing. Didn't try the food, the drinks were decently priced but the staff left a lot to be desired.
I want this bar to be good, it’s at the end of my block and I could potentially spend so much money there, knowing myself. They actually have a nice selection of wines and beers advertised (when they are in stock). It’s just the staff: if they’re not completely inexperienced, they’re just unprofessional or rude. This place has so much potential if they just had the right people working here.
Music was great, but holy cow the drinks sucked. Soda gun was totally flat and the bartender was a jerk about that. Guy had to look up how to make even the most basic cocktails and acted like being rude, on a wicked quiet night too, made him cool. Huge difference between being edgy for the atmosphere and being an actual jerk
There is a world where Bar Freda is the best event space in all of the outer boroughs. The space itself open, charming, and really seems like the perfect spot to grab a drink and watch some up and coming bands. Unfortunately, any of the obviously good qualities of this venue are completely nullified by the horrendous management. The owner of the bar was hostile and combative with several patrons last night, getting in multiple people’s faces and shouting one person out of the bar. She raised an issue that didn’t need to be raised, caused a scene where there didn’t need to be one and left a clear air of confusion and malcontent amongst her staff. People I’ve talked to have affirmed that this is not a one time event and that the owner of the venue waves around her power as if owning some dime a dozen dive bar makes her the queen of France. It gives me no pleasure to excoriate her in a public forum like this but her behavior last night was so off putting and upsetting that it stands a clear mark against what has the potential to be a wonderful space. Freda, please consider changing your attitude or your management.
Pretty racist tbh considering that this neighborhood used to be predominantly Hispanic, I'm happy someone called this bar out on Reddit because this happened to me before at this very bar, I paid my tab via cash and one of the bartenders chased me as if I've stolen when they confirmed I'd haven't stolen they didn't even have the audacity to apologize. It's unfortunate please do better.
