Highly recommend a visit to Julia’s! I went for the first time this week and now it’s on my list of favorite places to go in Ridgewood. The space itself is so cute and the service was excellent. (Thank you so much to our server and one of the owners Geneva for showing us an amazing time!) The cocktails are out of this world and the food was so delicious. The menu was great, it really has something for everyone. The coffee is amazing too! Support local businesses and give this place a try you won’t regret it!
Best brunch spot in Ridgewood by far. Everytime I go the folks that operate this place make me feel right at home. As far as the food goes, the latte is to die for, and they have a killer buttermilk bisquit. The prices are also very fair - especially compared to Rolos. Julias has become a small ritual with my girls :)
This place is great! Food was delicious — we had the arepas con huevo and the breakfast sandwich — and the restaurant is very cozy. What stood out most is the service. Our server, Selena, was incredibly welcoming and made sure we still got food even though we rolled in at 3:55pm and the kitchen was about to close. I can’t wait to come back here!
Wonderfully fresh, delicious veggie dishes satisfy our late dinner needs. The Golden Beet Salad w/goat cheese and pecans was my favorite. My sister couldn't pass up the carrot cake, so glad she didn't - fresh homemade whipped cream topping the light, moist flavorful cake. Delightful place with fast carry-out. The outside and inside dining looked inviting and comfortable.
Seriously good brunch. Cool looking place too. Nice vintage light fixtures and a cool bar too. Make sure you get reservations for weekends ahead of time or expect a wait up to an hour depending on group size.
The staff is very helpful and friendly they treat you like you have been regular even if it's your first time there. Place can get busy on weekend and have to wait for a table, but trust me it's worth the wait. Food and drinks are very tasty and flavourful. Highly recommend going there.
My favorite brunch place any day of the week! The food is simple yet delicious. Staff is always friendly. The restaurant is so cozy!
Great great great spot🤩 I know this spot is kinda popular for their brunch but their dinner menu is just as amazing. Very tasty beer and wine selection. Cozy, neighborhood feel. Outdoor seating! And staff is always super super sweet❤️ Highly recommended!!!
Had “mini arepas” and “smoked trout salad,” and both were top-of-their-game balanced, and swooningly flavorful. Those dishes were everything I’d want in them, and those dishes are basically everything I’d want in a neighborhood cafe. If were a cook here, I’d be super proud to put out this food. If I were an owner, I’d make sure everyone was netting at least $30/hr, even if it meant raising prices a little. This food would command it.
Fun, friendly, vibes. We’ve been here a few times and the food and drink are always wonderful. We’ve sat outside when nice out and the staff really take wonderful care of you. Recommend their brunch specials, the drinks are wonderful and the food is always tasty!
I’ve been here… what? 15 times? 20 times? The number doesn’t matter cuz I’ll keep coming back, baby!! The lavender latte plus sausage breakfast sandwich 2-hit combo will always call my name. And everyone here is so nice and beautiful and wonderful! I love you Julia’s!!
Stopped in for dinner. Very impressed by the quality and price of the food. Staff was amazingly friendly. Will 100% be back. Update: Went back for brunch. Best bloody mary I've ever had, and the brunch arepas were to die for. Will be going back again!!!
Went here today for the first time today and I will definitely be back! Everyone was so kind and friendly and the atmosphere was great! The food was delicious: try the arepas and toasted goat:) Got a mimosa on the house because they accidentally gave me the wrong order. Staff was super sweet and made sure we had a positive experience. 100% recommend this place:)
What a jewel of a surprise deep in Ridgewood. At Julia’s we felt welcome, greeted with warm smiles and alluring appetizing aromas. The menu reflects imagination and levity—of having fun while inspiring conversation before savoring each edible delight.
I’m from Chicago, and visit Julia’s every time I’m in New York. The atmosphere is chic and comfortable and it’s so clear how much the staff care about what they do and each other. The menu is always creative and comforting at the same time, and I know I’m always going to be surprised and delighted by what the kitchen has been up to! I follow them on social media just so I can dream about my next visit. I don’t have enough good things to say about Julia’s. Truly a gem of a restaurant, I can’t wait to return again.
This is Ridgewood’s staple!! Way before Rolo’s and what not. Julia’s been here for years! I’ve been coming back for 9 yrs myself. This place has always been great and it just keeps getting better with their renovations and menu changes over time 👌 Food is amazing and atmosphere always warm and welcoming. Staff is always so nice and kind! Service is quick. Love the interiors and its great for a romantic date or friends catch up. Also very queer friendly:) Go Julia’s! ❤️
Went to Julia's for brunch and was very pleased with the service and the food. When we came in the restaurant was crowded and we received a table in the middle. When a table against the wall opened soon after we sat down, the staff was obliging and moved us over. They checked backed regularly to top off our coffees and see how we were doing. The steak scramble was delicious and filling. The Pumpkin pillows were so light and satisfying. The bacon was superb. The prickly pear mimosas were refreshing. Definitely plan to be back for brunch and now want to try dinner as well.
This place is fantastic all the staff is super friendly and helpful, I can't speak highly enough of this place , bacon 🥓 perfect, goat cheese sammitch 🧀 perfect. Outdoor seating with many doggos walking by that want pets 🐕 perfect. I honestly almost don't wanna leave this review and hope this place doesn't become impossible to get a table at . But no, they deserve all the praise. 10/10 will be back ** The arepas are fantastic, finally tried a new thing here
Julia's is fantastic! The staff are very attentive. Went there tonight. Had the BBQ sliders, arepas (highly recommend), as well as apple goat cheese salad. My partner went for brunch a few weeks ago with some friends from upstate and had a fabulous time. One of the nice things is there are a lot of gluten-free/vegan options as well as a variety of mocktails for those who don't imbibe.
This place was amazing. Food was good. Atmosphere was great. I bought the bottle of champagne for $28. It was the best idea for brunch. We had about 30 min wait on Saturday at 1PM for brunch for 2 people. Def a go to if you are in the neighborhood
Best brunch in the area! Great atmosphere, very nice people working there. Awesome food. Good quality Prosecco. We loved it and will be back soon!
Was here for a wedding party, had a blast service was great. The servers was funny and amazing. Drinks were deff on point try the pineapple margarita
I've never had anything from here that wasn't excellent. We had the mushroom scramble, the chicken sandwich, the Cuban, pineapple mimosa, and the lavender soju lemonade. They were all fantastic. Surprise winner was the pesto potatoes. We usually like our breakfast potatoes crispy, but the jalapeno pesto on them is very flavorful. Great food, lovely and friendly people working there. A wonderful neighborhood spot.
Came for breakfast with my gf because she had previously been here with one of her friends. The first time she came, she raved about it. This time it wasn't as good for her. For me it was pretty good. We ordered: Julia's breakfast sandwich - other than the biscuit being too thick it was a good sandwich (the sauce was really good, wish it had more). Mushroom omelette topped with goat cheese - really good! The goat cheese made it much better 2nd visit - Delicious! We got the cubanish sandwich and the toasted goat (me and the gf ordered one of each) we shared half with each other and I would recommend you do the same. The Cuban is savory and the toasted goat is on the sweet side, a great combo.
Staff v. nice and welcoming - I requested a mocktail and the bartender asked me a few questions to determine that I wanted it tart and fizzy. The passion fruit based drink was lovely and tasty, did not disappoint. I ordered the mezze plate and added a side of greens, good amount of food and delicious tortilla chips. I decided I prefer my hummus with more lemon and drenched in tahini - this was still yummy, just not my favorite (served with a drizzle of olive oil and minced cured black olives). Nice covered patio area and they were open for indoor dining as well.
Julia’s is super chilled, repurposed mom/pop vibe with a modern touch. Intimate but inviting. The food is amazing. Never left unsatisfied. The guava mimosas are everything. Staff is friendly. Love this place. Go every chance I get.
This is literally my favorite spot in the world. My fiance and I have dinner, brunch and drinks here often, and most recently had our engagement party here! When I proposed I gave her a scrapbook and there are two whole pages of photos of us eating at Julia's (and I even had to leave some out). They are great for any occasion. DELICIOUS food, WONDERFUL people and THE BEST atmosphere. They were wonderful to work with on the engagement party, the catering menu was somehow just as amazing as their regular dinner and brunch menus, and it was the best night of our lives. Do yourself a favor and go here. Often.
We recently had a great brunch here! I loved the decor inside, and the food was delicious. I particularly liked the BEC biscuit
I’ve been a loyal customer at Julia’s restaurant since they first opened, and I can confidently say their customer service is unparalleled. Over the years, their staff has consistently gone above and beyond to make every visit a delightful experience. Compared to other nearby spots like Rolo’s, Julia’s stands out as the best, not just for their excellent customer service, but also for their cozy ambiance and attention to detail. One thing that truly sets them apart is their amazing Hispanic waiter, By. He’s an absolute game changer! His warm personality, attentiveness, and ability to make every guest feel special are unmatched. Honestly, (aside from the delicious Toasted Goat sandwich) By is the reason I keep coming back every time. I moved to Florida three years ago, but every time I’m back in NYC, I make it a point to visit Julia’s daily. It’s just that good! If you’re looking for a place that combines fantastic service with an inviting atmosphere, Julia’s is the place to go!
The toasted goat sandwich with potato salad was delicious. Be sure to take a moment to take in all of the decor - my favorite feature was the gold ceiling and the dark green wall behind the bar. Great vibes!
Delicious food, amazing cocktails, great people and now they have oysters! Julia’s is a true Ridgewood gem.
Went to dinner with our conference group and enjoyed the entire experience. Each dish was excellent--heard not a single complaint--and the assistance on wine selections for the table was appreciated and on point. An open atmosphere made everything a bit festive, and the evening was very pleasant thanks to Julia's.
Literally 5/5 stars !! Went for dinner on a Friday night and we could choose from inside, outside or bar seating. Great vibes, music, and service ! Excellent vegan options! I got the sweet potato hash (I normally hate sweet potatoes) and now I’m a sweet potato believer !! Will definitely return :)
Absolutely loved both dishes! The burrata salad was incredibly fresh and creamy—the burrata was perfectly soft and rich, paired beautifully with beets and well-balanced flavors. The pork sandwich was just as impressive: tender, juicy pork with bold seasoning, great texture, and a bun that held everything together without overpowering the filling. I’d happily order them again and highly recommend them to anyone stopping by.
Best pancakes ever !! Food is very good and staff is lovely
Recently had brunch here. Cute small places. Really optimized for seating. I sat late compared to my party and quickly ordered the Cuban sandwich. Lord have mercy, that’s how good it was. The bread is great and was toasted to perfection. I kept trying to decide which part of the sandwich really rocked it for me. But I couldn’t figure it out because it was as a whole. The mustard maybe? It’s spicy and Rich’s but it wasn’t over powering and it was warm in the sandwich. Idk, now I’m rambling. Everyone also raved about the bacon. The only dislike from the table was the potatoes. I don’t try but I think maybe they had oregano and my party didn’t seem to like oregano. But Julia’s. I shall be back! With different friends! (No pictures because I just housed that Cuban)
Food was amazing. We were turned away from the Peruvian spot down the block and headed here for food sand drinks. We didn’t know what to expect but ended up having the best food and drinks.
Good food and great service. I used to hang out in Ridgewood before it got gentrified and Julia's is probably one of the few places I would visit again. Unlike most of the other places that have opened up throughout Ridgewood, Julia's isnt pretentious and seems to respect the neighborhood vibe, staff is friendly and respectful in an authentic manner. Wish I still lived near by, would be there quite often. Shot out to Byron!
Julia’s is a great local spot for drinks & brunch. All the brunch items were good but the Arepas Con Huevos were a real treat. I’ve never seen this brunch item before and it was perfectly balanced with savory and sweet. I would recommend! But again it’s hard to go wrong anyway to go at Julia’s.
WOW!! That is all I have to say. The food is amazing. I have been waiting to come here for a few months but I never really travel so far up Woodward. Somehow I missed this delightful hidden jam all these years. JUST GO :) everything is delightful, including the staff and the owner is lovely. <3 we love a good neighborhood spot and you know Ridgewood is filled with those. This one is on the very top of my list now! Thank you Julia’s!
Delicious brunch at Julia’s in Ridgewood! We started with a Blood Orange and Classic Mimosas 🍊 I had the arepas con huevos and they were so good! The sauce and cheese on top was everything, and the greens were a perfect way to balance the plate. The arepas were freshly made and super flavorful. We shared patatas bravas which were AMAZING! Smothered in cheese, sauces and bacon 🥓 I will definitely be getting these next time Im here! My friend got a classic breakfast plate which they also enjoyed very much 😊 Shoutout to our awesome server, By! Thanks for the great recommendations and awesome personality.
Terrific Sunday brunch. Had the Cubanish and Golden Lox, both with the potato salad. The salad was creamy and delicious. The Lox was my favorite because of how stellar the caper dill schmear and pickled shallots were. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful. Wonderful small brunch spot at a good price point that I will be returning to!!
The most amazing Thanksgiving meal! I started looking for Thanksgiving options a bit too late this year, and Julia went above and beyond to accommodate me (calling me back and emailing me herself multiple times to get my table booked!). The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and rustic, yet upscale and sophisticated. The staff couldn't be more friendly and accommodating- Julia herself went around to each table welcoming everyone. It's hard to pick a favorite course, but for me it had to be the Butternut Squash Bisque- so creamy and flavorful. What autumn soup dreams are made of! We raved about this course for days to come. Other top bites include the popovers with maple butter, the Blackhead Mountain Salad, roasted cumin carrots, the and Lemon Tart. Can you tell we liked everything?? The price for the many high quality, large portion courses included in this dinner is an absolute steal. We can't wait to come back. Thank you, Julia and team, for making our Thanksgiving so special!
Julia's is always enjoyable to go to. The menu is small and intentional and the service feels like going to someone's house who's a great host. They genuinely want you to enjoy the food and I've never had anything I don't enjoy there. Simple dishes that are well done and perfectly portioned so you don't leave stuffed. Also their coffee is just really good.
Very well priced, good size portions, very strong coffee, dishes spiced well too (Sweet Potato Hash - amazing!). The biggest downside is that the menus are not updated. The scannable QR menu on the tables is only for the weekend menu and the one on the website don’t match what is in-house. We ordered the Frittata, which was advertised with roasted red peppers and goat cheese. Unfortunately, this one was served with bacon and scallion. As a fellow vegetarian, it was upsetting to take a bite of a dish with meat when we assumed veggies.
This place is super cozy we waited a little longer for food but it was worth it I had the cubanish sandwich and the pulled pork was amazing all drinks from coffee beers, mocktails and cocktails
Lovely ambiance, we went for dinner and it was a very friendly and romantic atmosphere. The food was good as well and overall very balanced. I’m definitely coming back for the chicken pot pie!
Good place to get a pretty classic breakfast/brunch. Usually not too long of a wait for a table
They were pretty busy for weekend brunch; we went Saturday around noon. Service: The bartender assisted with bringing food to the tables. She was super nice, knew I was waiting for my friend and offered me a jug of water with cups for self-serve. There was a hostess and she was super nice. She was in tune with her customers and brought drinks and food promptly to the table. Now the waitress was another story; she was dressed in all black and seemed to have a chip on her shoulder. Kind of snotty- feel about her. I asked to be seated on the regular tables instead of the bar or high table and she said she would seat us if there was availability but when a table opened, I had to go to her again and she was not proactive to sit us there. Later on, we asked her for extra napkins, and she never brought it. We ended up asking the hostess who was super nice and brought it right away. Service was 4/5 Food: we ordered the arepas, the biscuit, the lox sandwich and mimosas. All were pretty good but prices a little higher. Total bill including tips/tax: $90. Service size was on the smaller side, only gave 1-2 pieces of salmon for $20. 4/5 due to pricing Ambiance: it was a nice relaxed atmosphere, we stayed for a bit after our meals were done and they were getting ready for a private party. We were not rushed to leave until they informed us we could go outside to continue to chat. The outside patio was nice. 5/5 Overall: 4/5, would either have larger serving size or reduce prices by $2. And the waitress needs re-training.
Admittedly, not a brunch fan. This place almost convinced me to think otherwise but didn't accomplish it. Service was super friendly and attentive. It's a fairly small place so recommend getting a reservation. We got two sandwiches: the Cubabinsh and the golden lox. The Cubanish was meh, I have to say I missed having the ham that a Cuban these usually come with but the pork was delightful. The bread was nicely toasted. I get why this is such a must here. I was actually quite surprised by the lox sandwich. This roll was perfectly tailored to this sandwich. I wish the spread was a bit more evenly distributed. We got the greens and the potato salad for sides, neither of which added much. However, we also grabbed the potatas brava, which was absolutely a scene stealer. The price is on the higher end for brunch (maybe not for the area but $20 for a lox sandwich is... a bit much). The menu beyond these two things wasn't the most interesting so we probably don't need to come back but it was worth it for this combination of things.
Very cute restaurant. The vibes are cozy. It was very busy when I went on a Saturday afternoon. However I immediately got a seat at the bar. The aesthetics of the place is warm and inviting. I had the Mini Pancakes that have chopped sausages and bacon on them. They were very good. Their Cocktails are also good. The food came out quickly. The service is good. The prices are reasonable. I'm glad I checked this neighborhood 💎 out.
Julia’s is a cozy neighborhood spot where no reservations are needed—just walk in. Be prepared for longer wait times during weekend brunch. A personal favorite is the Toasted Goat, a deliciously simple dish featuring toasted sourdough topped with goat cheese, fig jam, bacon, and honey—a perfect combination of flavors.
I only went for a quick bite and had the fig, goat cheese with bacon toast which was good ($16). They have a tiny kitchen so service will be slow and nothing is quick. It can be a cute brunch spot for a lot of people but it was too loud for us. Not a great spot for a date because youll be screaming at each other. Other than that the workers are friendly. We went on a Saturday at 1:30 and waited 30 minutes for a table.
frankly i think this place is quite a bit overrated! i’ve given it a few tries at this point but always a little let down by the food. the arepas are yummy especially with the pork but the cubanish and toasted goat are both pretty mid. my latte was also just fine. i generally want to enjoy this place but not sure what im missing here
It’s pretty small and cramped up inside. It’s hard to hear yourself speak too. As for the food, I don’t eat pork, and there seemed to be a lot of pork options, so it was kind of a turn off to see that.
I’m really surprised by all the glowing reviews of the food. I have lived in the neighborhood for a couple of years and have been here a handful of times. Brunch is ok but dinner is pretty subpar. It seems like they aren’t even really trying. The atmosphere is cute and cozy. Generic as far as style and music. Service is friendly. On my most recent trip, I ordered the chicken pot pie. The chicken was very tough and the whole dish tasted like it had been reheated a few times, like old leftovers. There was also a strange aftertaste I can only describe as mildewy sponge. Maybe the dish was cleaned with an old sponge? My husband’s bean dip was good, but the ‘chips’ served with it were basically all crumbs, like they put the last of the bag on his plate and just didn’t care. I’d love for this place to be better, but based on other peoples’ reviews, most people seem to like it. I’d love to know what to order next time. I think I’ve ordered half the menu at this point so maybe the other half is delicious...
Very cold inattentive staff, food was very bland and dry. Coffee tasted metallic and acidic.
A friend and I went in about an hour before closing, and the vibe was cozy (very small space) and intimate. Very cute space. There was a larger party present so it was quite loud and it took quite a while for someone to come over and take an order for our drinks.. even though there were only another 2 people there along with the party. That was a little annoying. Drinks - Spicy margerita was average. My friend got the lavender drink, which she enjoyed. Food - the vegan/veggie hash looked good but it was nasty.. I don't know how else to describe it. There were maybe 4 or 5 chunks of potato, and then some cauliflower and brussel sprouts. It was a very, very small dish for a ridiculous price, definitely not worth it. Theres seems to be glowing reviews here about this place's brunch, so I may have to check that out.
Never got an opportunity to eat here. Showed up at just after 5 and host or waiter offered a seat behind the gate. When we suggested at the outdoor seating, which was available , he pointed back to the other seat. No explanation; not it’s reserved. Like he couldn’t speak. We walked away. Too bad- was looking forward to it. 2 stars for an interesting menu.
Disappointingly mid food. I had the hamburger sliders and the presentation of the food was on par with a pub food in Boston - unexpected of a restaurant with 4.7 star rating in Ridgewood NY. The bread was somehow burnt yet cold to the touch and bite, inconsistent in the amount of ingredients per sliders, and the patty was flavorless. I would let this slide if not for the cost of the bill. Spend your money elsewhere.
This place has significantly gone down in quality this year. Used to be a pretty decent brunch option. Not sure what’s changed recently at Julia’s but I’ve had two, back to back poor experiences here that have changed view. Last month my friends and I were served severely under cooked bacon in our meals. We brought this to our servers attention, who took their time investigating it but then brought us a fresh plate of cooked bacon and assured it would be “on the house”. Sure enough, we were billed for 3 extra sides of bacon. We only realized after leaving and contemplating the steep bill + tip. Didn’t feel great. And just this week after having gone to Julia’s again despite that, we found they’ve changed their core menu items and dining experience. It’s even more expensive and smaller portions than prior. Food comes out in baskets instead of on plates. Service was seriously lacking.. With both recent experiences. I won’t be flipping the bill at this place any longer. We kept saying we shoulda jus got bodega BECs instead for 1/3 the price and ate at home
We were so excited to try this restaurant and ordered some delicious sounding food! While the drinks were good, our server completely forgot to input our food order. It took for me to ask them where the order was for them to realize it was never inputted in the first place. While they removed the food from the bill, we will not be coming back which is a little unfortunate. PS: I write this review as a person who works in the service/restaurant industry as well, I understand the difficulties and challenges of the job.
this was over 2 months ago and still upset we can't go back. So we really enjoyed this place good is very good and they offered us a slice of vegan cake that looked like someone ordered by mistake and we was charged $12 for one slice of cake we didn't even order. Guess that's why the customer that ordered it in the first place changed there mind. Also they don't itemize what you are paying for or if you are paying twice for a tip. Sorry not happy
The waiter was extremely rude, I visited the restaurant on march 22, 2024 and here’s what happened. We came in, she greeted us but didn’t say us, so we just went ahead and sat ourselves. Got the menus and a bit after she came to take our order, during such time she didn’t explained the menu at all and rapidly took our food order without even waiting to take our drinks order. She never came back so I had to go to the bar directly and ask for my drinks. The waitress never came back to check in on us or to see if we needed anything else while we were eating. No service whatsoever, but at the end she came with the payment device that only took 20% gratuity as a minimum. We left tip but I believe she didn’t earned that gratuity at all. The whole time she was taking care of other tables and neglected us completely. Will not go back to the restaurant because the service is not there to provide a good atmosphere but rather to drive away clients. There was a line to the restroom and I needed to urgently use the restroom, I asked her to see if I could use the other bathroom that was clearly available but she refused because that was only for staff. Mind you it was an emergency for me and was neglect from her part. Very saddening to witness this happening in our first visit to this place.
it was okay, came about five times. last time gave me the runs. It’s nothing you can’t make at your house if you eat pork and want to go out for brunch I would give it a try. Ridgewood unfortunately doesn’t have enough sit down brunch spots which is why people will settle for something like this. The sidekick IPA was the best thing I have gotten here.
I ordered pasta and it tasted like desert and milky. The quantity is so less and it is overpriced. I got stomachache and puked. So disappointing!!!!
My family and I were excited to go back here for the second time. What a disappointment! It's one of the most expensive brunch we've had and left there still feeling hungry. My plate was filled mostly with leaves. Service sucked also. A waiter who was not serving us asked if we needed help, I said thanks but we're already being helped. He rolled his eyes and said that he can help us too. Really? This was the worse experience. Left there disgusted. Never again.
An underwhelming experience. Drinks were fine. Food was flavorless all around, things that should have come out hot were cold, no excuse for this since the restaurant wasn’t busy. On top of this the food was very expensive for the portions and quality you revive. Oddly could have gotten a hotter, fresher, and more flavorful meal from our local Chinese food takeout spot. I think that tells you all you need to know right there… Meh, hard pass.
