I stopped by The Creag in North Georgia last night while traveling to visit family friends, and it was absolutely fantastic. The food was amazing! I started with the house soup, which was delicious, and then had the veal chop. The portion was huge and cooked perfectly! I also tried one of their cocktails, and it was really tasty and well-balanced and refreshing. Our waitress was wonderful and super friendly, attentive, and clearly great at her job. The whole experience felt relaxed but elevated at the same time. Definitely a place I’d recommend to anyone passing through the area or looking for a great meal in North Georgia!
The Creag at McLemore Resort is truly a gem. The food is outstanding—I could never tire of the incredible beef mushroom soup, and the smoked trout dip did not disappoint. The holiday décor throughout the resort adds such a festive charm, and they host wonderful seasonal events like brunch with Santa. The McLemore Resort amenities are top-notch, from the 94-degree heated pool to the two beautifully designed golf courses. With four restaurants on property, there’s always something delicious to enjoy. And the views? Absolutely breathtaking—pictures simply can’t capture them. Whether you’re visiting for a getaway, a holiday event, or just a great meal, McLemore delivers an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!
Once again The Creag nailed it. The food is always top notch and never disappoints. The steaks at The Creag far outshined those of a “top tier” steak house in Nashville from our travels earlier in the week. Lindsay always provides top notch service and is an absolute pleasure when we visit.
Loved our time at the Creag. The view is excellent, and the steak was made to perfection. I ordered the rib eye, a little pricey but you do get a great portion and it is what you’d expect in a place like this. My wife ordered the chicken with pesto pasta and it was also wonderful. Portions are quite big so if you are not that hungry, you can easily share. We nearly took half of our food home. The resort offers shuttles to the hotel and common area. It’s a great place to hang out, grab a drink and enjoy the view.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Craig at Macklemore Clubhouse in Rising Fawn is absolutely amazing! The food is consistently fresh and delicious, and the menu changes just enough to keep things exciting. We had the steak, chicken & pasta, and a seafood dish—every single one was cooked perfectly. The white and red sangria are a must-try, so refreshing and flavorful! Our waitress was wonderful—friendly, attentive, and made our evening even better. The outdoor patio is gorgeous, with views overlooking the golf course that make the whole dining experience feel special. This is one of those hidden gems that deserves more attention. If you’re in the area, I can’t recommend it enough. Don’t forget to check out my photos—if you enjoyed this review, give it a like to help others find it too! 📸🍷🥩
Celebrating 2 in 1 My B-Day & mother's Day.. The service at restaurant was Awesone! I got a great time. The Manager @ night name Jacob is excellent!" The staff is polite and attentive, going above and beyond to provide a wonderful eating experience. Definitely recommended. Thanks 😊
An excellent place for my birthday dinner! The view, the food, and the service were top notch. Cozy and warm atmosphere.
Made reservations at five for when they first open. Had place to ourselves and choice pick of seating. Decided to celebrate anniversary here after researching several places. Beautiful place and location inside and out. The restaurant shares same building as a golf pro shop and club house restroom. This locker room has all the amenities, couch,tv,frig.and everything you need when you get out of the shower to shave, brush teeth and smell good. I was simply amazed by the level of comfort I felt by this service they provided. The restaurant was just as inviting, warm, elegant and comfortable. Our waitress Meg was a pleasant joy to serve us. We had a couple of appetizers, our dinners and then desert which were all very delicious. The warm interior was supplied by the roaring fire place. The outside view of golf course and mountains was competing with the gorgeous setting of the inside .Definitely enjoyed being only ones in there . So reserve early because it filled up as we was leaving.
We really enjoyed our visit to The Creag at McLemore. Our waitress was great, super helpful, and friendly. Our meal was fantastic, and you can't beat the view! I recommend trying their hushpuppies and cioppino, so yummy!
It was a great dinning experience. The restaurant had a rustic interior with exposed beams and a stone double sided fire place. It also had multiple seating options. Inside, outside, and bar seating. The food was amazing! The views were even better.
It's a beautiful place, and our food was excellent. We had veal, trout, tenders, and a chocolate chip cookie for dessert.
Beautiful scenic views and a lovely outdoor dining area. We had Easter brunch here, they didn’t have a special menu for the occasion so we ordered off of the lunch menu. We got the wedge salad to start, then the club sandwich with fries and the papardelle bolognese. The pasta lacked some flavor but the sandwich and fries were great. For dessert we had the peanuts and coke chocolate cake which was yummy. They have a great wine and cocktail menu. Our service was very fast and friendly. They could improve on having more signs to direct you to the restaurant since it wasn’t that obvious and they also should have warned us you need to buzz to be let into the golf club grounds which are gated.
My family ate here for lunch. The food was delicious and the service was great. My wife does not eat gluten, dairy or soy and they were happy to accommodate her. The atmosphere was laid back but classy. I had a Bloody Mary and it was just right but could have used more garnish (bacon, celery etc.) We started with the shrimp watermelon ceviche. It was fresh, flavorful and had a good texture. I had the cheeseburger and a Caesar salad. The cheeseburger was good and the Ceaser salad was one of the best I’ve ever had. I tried my son’s Cuban sandwich and fries. The sandwich was good and the fries were very tasty and perfectly salted. I tried my wife’s Cuban sandwich on a gluten free bun minus the cheese and it was surprisingly tasty too. We finished the meal off with a sundae. The ice cream was good but the browny was a little crunchy for my taste. I like soft and gooey and this one was not and it had nuts in it. It still tasted good enough to eat the whole thing though lol.
There aren’t words for how great this restaurant is! Alexander was our server and a sommelier, he was fantastic. The food was superb, we had the pork belly and buratta apps, then shared the Ribeye. WOW. The view is breath-taking. Highly recommend sitting outside.
Unmatched setting high on top of Lookout Mountain. The food is fabulous and the Club boasts an ever-changing seasonal menu. The burger is great. The field greens with smoked chicken is one of the best salads I’ve ever had. Highly recommended. PS you can always find Creature Comforts Tropicalia on tap 🤙🏼
Driving into the gated area was just a short distance to the restaurant. The parking was somewhat difficult but the restaurant made up for that!! The restaurant had a great vibe and the food and cocktail’s were elevated and perfect! We drove a short distance to the hotel and met by the concierge who explained the ongoing development and directed us to the lower bar area of the hotel. We sat outside watching the most amazing view. The fire pits were lit as the sun was beginning to set just making this a perfect day. and the bar was just as good as the restaurant bar. outside to enjoy the view there too!
Cannot rave enough about The CREAG- visiting from out of state and looking for a birthday celebration. A local recommended the CREAG and wow! The view from the patio was breathtaking, make sure you go about an hour prior to sunset. The server/bartender Betsey was amazing; knowledgeable and sweet. The buratta app was great as well as the charcuterie board. Super impressed for only $22. Highly recommend!
We decided to take the drive from Chattanooga to McLemore for dinner to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The drive is absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere at the restaurant and the grounds are stunning, make sure you allow time to walk around and take some photos. Our server Zander made excellent wine and food pairing selections, we pretty much followed all of his recommendations. I highly recommend the drive from Chattanooga for a wonderful experience and excellent cuisine.
We had a large group (10) for dinner on the patio and it was beautiful. The service was friendly and easily handle our somewhat rowdy group. The menu has a ride range of entrees, even with good vegetarian options. The quality of the food was high, everything cooked well and nicely flavored. The food was much better than boring country club food. I'll include a photo of the beet and citrus appetizer.
Excellent service and great food at this mountain top restaurant "in the clouds". Beautiful views but the service by Taylor was fantastic. I highly recommend the filet, red fish and duck.
Beautiful autumn day for lunch on the patio. The view is stunning, the food delicious and the service friendly and efficient. We enjoyed being here very much!
We had a delightful experience at the Creag. It was a picture perfect day and the views were wonderful. Not too busy and the service was top notch.
Always a wonderful time! Alexander took extra special care of us and is quite the Sommelier! Can’t say enough wonderful things about our time at The Creag!
We went to have dinner and see the singer/songwriter show. This venue has to be one of the most beautiful backdrops. Breathtaking views of Macklemore Cove from atop Lookout Mountain.
Fantastic evening at The Creag. The views we incredible and the food matched the views. We will definitely be returning and looking forward to staying at the Hilton when it opens.
It was a wonderful experience. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary on the patio with the gorgeous view. The food was delicious and our service was spectacular.Zander was our sommelier. We can not say enough about his customer service and his knowledge.
I had a special family occasion at The Craeg and the team made us feel so welcome! Jacob and Kyle from management both came to say hello and Meg our server took amazing care of us. We were sitting next to a cozy fire and all the food was so delicious. I can't recommend the burnt ends or your next visit The Craeg highly enough!
With outstanding cuisine and sweeping views, The Creag delivers a dining experience that delights both the palate and the senses. I’m still thinking about the grilled spring pea flatbread and the brick chicken bucatini. It is definitely worth a visit for dinner on the patio.
A last minute find hidden away in NW Georgia. Amazing food and the staff as well A plus. We enjoyed a quick lunch and the views wow. Would recommend the restaurant to everyone. An amazing burger 🍔
So happy we decided to have lunch at the Creag! We didn’t make reservations, but were promptly seated outside on the patio! While we were swarmed with flies, the views and service made it all worth while. Maybe the establishment could invest in some table top bug fans or some sort of patio repellant. We were promptly greeted by the sweetest server, Kaiden! She shared her recommendations and kept our water full. We started with the pork belly Burt ends and WOW, talk about flavorful! I’d get these time and time again. So tender with a perfectly seasoned crust. For our entree, I had the Shrimp Bucatini and my Husband has the fish and chips. The fish was cooked to perfection and the batter was perfectly crispy. It was served with a curry sauce, tartar sauce, and ketchup. My husband loved the curry sauce! The Shrimp Bucatini was delicious and so flavorful. The shrimp were cooked to perfection with a slightly crispy outer layer. The sun-dried tomatoes paired really well with the pasta and pine nuts. We were not rushed and truly Got to take in the gorgeous views. We can’t wait to eat here again and will absolutely request Kaiden!
I am visiting for a nice weekend and chose this restaurant over the fine dining options at the hotel that we were staying at. Every dish was exceptional and the service was to par as well. It was fun to visit with the GM and chat with him about each dish and learned that this restaurant has been established before the Resort was conceptualized. I would recommend this place right away to anyone visiting! Thank you again!
Thr Creag is part-time (nice)sports lounge social bar/ part-time restaurant. The atmosphere has been curated to evoke casual sophistication without being stilted..more cultivated conviviality. There is a comprehensive enough eine and spirits list, with a range of bourbons. The dinner selections included the expected range of menu items to suit a broad range of tastes, and was executed well. The service was attentive without being intrusive..exactly what one wants. We enjoyed our dinner and our companions.
We had a fantastic time for our anniversary dinner at The Creag! It was so convenient to take a golf cart ride to and from the hotel to the restaurant. We enjoyed fabulous drinks at the bar prior to our dinner reservation. For dinner, Kayla took the best care of us. She was so sweet and knowledgeable about the menu! The seasonable flatbread was a surprise hit, everything we had was delicious. Thank you for helping us have such a special night!
Had dinner on Valentine's Day and enjoyed the entire dinner service, drinks and especially the dessert. The couples menu were all well paired items and having our dessert delivered by the chef who designed the menu was a cherry on top. Landis is a phenomenal chef and curated such a balanced experience. The strawberry mousse and puree on the brownie dessert were superb. I'll be back to taste his next menu. The food runner also did a phenomenal job ensuring everything was delivered while hot and fresh as well as keeping the table clear of empty plates and glasses.
Nice view, nice staff. The food looked fabulous. I had the burrata toast. It was an interesting combination of barrata cheese, almond butter, honey, and some figs on a piece of toast. It was very tasty, but just a very strange combination.
The sun is starting to set, and you can see clear to the Appalachian Mountains this time of the year. Enveloped in fall trees on the ridge is McLemore, and standing alone on a rock is The Creag at McLemore. The Creag is a comfy indoor/outdoor restaurant that offers great bar drinks and creative food offerings, albeit much of it more salty than me (and even my husband) would like. We still plan to return to try other food items and have more great drinks while watching people play golf and looking out over the mountains.
We attended a small wedding here in early December. The views and background were amazing! A great place to make memories The event staff are very professional and attentive. We do wish they would have let us in to use the rest room so we didn’t have to walk around the entire building … The food was prepared very well, as a wedding we didn’t have a menu, but was very good. The space is a bit limited and I wouldn’t recommend for over 50 people.
This is a beautiful space in a breathtaking area. The restaurant has to tread a wide area, feeding golfers, residents, day trippers and the stray party looking for fine dining. They do okay with all but the last group, and that's understandable and ok. Lunch is probably the best meal, in the Fall especially.
Went for lunch and probably the best thing I had was one of their signature cocktails. The mussels lacked in spice and flavor, you could see the slices of peppers, but no heat was infushed into the broth. The special, "smoked chicken salad sandwhich", was another sad let down. I know they have a smoker out back, but it wasn't lit; so either it was smoked earlier in the week or they used regular chicken salad and added liquid smoke. Regardless, the only reminessence of smoke was the description on the menu. Lets move on to the blackened fish sandwhich, again not sure if the chef is afraid of bold flavors but this was flat at best. If you have a blackened protein AND horseradish tartar sauce and you don't feel any residual kick or spice, then you need to probably tweak something. The view and cocktails amazing, I just wish the food could match.
The good: amazing views. Great drinks. The bad: service was atrocious. Inattentive at best. Food was mediocre. Steak frites was cooked to a perfect medium rare but oversalted.
This is such a beautiful resort and restaurant that our dining experience was unexpected. The food was mediocre at best. My husband and I started with the burnt ends which were too salty, to the point it was unpleasant to eat. We both ordered the trout for our entree which was very strong/dry. Our friends ordered the trout “dip” which was no dip at all but rather a chunk of trout with some oil on the side. It was served with deep fried bread which seemed an odd pairing. The potato gnocchi that came with the trout was my favorite part of the meal. Regarding the service, it was painfully slow…some of the slowest service I have probably ever encountered. We had a manageable table of 6, not a huge group. I hope this was just a bad night for the restaurant. Ultimately we were there for the food so although it is a gorgeous restaurant/resort, the food was sub par for the cost and expectations for a fine dining restaurant of this caliber. We won’t be back. As an aside, we have been to Auld Alliance which was a wonderful experience both with the food and service.
Renaming this restaurant The Salt Factory. Couldn’t sleep bc my body was retaining so much water. My lips are still shriveled. Other than that, pretty solid.
We went for dinner. The views are amazing. Food, not so much. Ordered a potato that was so cold it wouldn’t melt the cheese or butter. My wife ordered chicken that was full of fatty meat and connective tissue. Very disappointed in the overpriced food. The atmosphere was nice, but there was a building or fire alarm that would not turn off for the entire hour we were there despite efforts by the staff to turn it off.
Super slow service when my wife and the whole family ate lunch. Took an hour or so to get food and the “shuttle” service at the time was only on golf cart to and from hotel that was also slow. Food was good but not worth the long wait time and views of surrounding area and golf course is nice
The view is beautiful from the hotel. The restaurant was empty when we dined. We were the only guests inside. We had several vegetarians in our group. The wait staff acted like this was an inconvenience. She said she would ask the chef if the chicken could be removed from the pasta dish but the price would be the same. The restaurant needs more veggie options! After the end of our meal, she didn’t provide a dessert menu or option. There was no acknowledgement of the birthday we were celebrating. There is a kids menu available. They have coloring sheets and crayons but these were not provided until we asked.
Nice view overlooking valley. Service was friendly and attentive but the food was mediocre. We had veal chop- breaded to hide taste, and seafood stew which was also uninspiring. Wouldn't go back
Love the vibe, atmosphere and staff but my most recent visit was astoundingly disappointing. Two of our party had risotto which was served to each w a drastically different portion and undercooked. The salads, which used to be amazing, looked like bag salad with unripe tomato. Apps were as disappointing. Hopefully they’ll work it out! For reference here’s a pic of cold, soggy $11 fries… shame is I’ve had these before and they were great. Quality is slipping!
First and foremost the view from the restaurant is stunning, and the patio is great. What's equally as stunning is how pedestrian, and poorly executed the food is despite the fact of how badly it wants to be pretentious. This place is trying way too hard to be something it's not. Let's start with the dreadful appetizers our table had to endure with one exception, the hushpuppies. They were average at best, but the best of what we had unfortunately. The sauce that came with the overcooked hushpuppies was good , which is why it was our best appetizer by far. The cornbread is a must miss!!! Do NOT order this unless you hate yourself. It was flavorless and dry like 80 grit sandpaper. We tried to slather it with butter, however even the butter was flavorless also which seems impossible, yet they pulled it off effortlessly, kudos for that! The burnt ends, ohhh the burnt ends. At first glance I thought this might be a winner, but then reality set in and my taste buds were overwhelmed with a sodium bomb that had vast similarities to what lazy hunters use to lure in hapless deer out in the wild...salt lick city!! Now, on to the Trout Dip in our wonderful journey of mediocrity at the Creag. This can't be made fresh , and must arrive frozen from either a second rate Scandinavian country or Flint, Michigan. Either way I'm not quite sure how anyone can think this dish has any flavor whatsoever, stunning to be honest. The crackers that were served with this dish though were actually good, and I cherished every bite, but was fairly certain that they probably weren't actually made in this kitchen because they did have flavor. At this point I had tapped out, and couldn't venture on with this whimsical culinary journey any further. I sat in awe as my friends battled on to find anything of worth on this menu, and for the most part they didn't. The fries were pretty good one of them uttered...success at last!!! The tragic part of that statement was that it came at the expense of a cold Ribeye steak. I won't continue on reviewing my other 2 colleagues meals because it just seems like I'm piling on at this point to what was a really bad night by the kitchen. The exception was a pretty decent house salad one of them had, and for that we were thankful. The decor is beautiful , and it really could be a wonderful little place to eat if they just served straightforward, solidly executed food with flavor. I honestly felt bad for our server (She was sweet) We tipped her quite well because she absolutely deserved it for having to endure whatever internal struggles were going on in the kitchen last night. This, by all means should be a 1 star review , but I do understand kitchens have bad nights , and because our sever was so sweet, I reluctantly gave it a 2. Word to the wise after reading this...no matter how much they tell you the cornbread is good, it's a completely false statement, and that dish should be removed immediately!!
Trying to hard… a simple menu would be helpful sad 😞 I didn’t like anything served. The lions mane mushroom was absolutely disgusting it had a parsnip purée (I literally was gagging)It tasted like it had gas in it and crunchy green beans that was not done and three tiny potatoes. My husband ordered a $58 steak that was raw W/some kind of designer potato that was definitely raw and crunchy he added shrimp for an up charge and I swear the shrimp had no seasoning There was four of us dining we ordered all of the desserts only one was good. I bet our bill was over $430 nothing was good Maybe the drinks the very expensive drinks were good 👍
Food took a while to get and then 2 filets ordered greatly overcooked then to compound errors manager tried to negotiate badly cooked steaks for a discount. Just what we want, to eat a badly cooked steak that is already quite overpriced. Then took forever to get new corrected steak which too was poorly cooked, very overly gray on outside and overly red on inside. Forgot to put our salad order in. Very odd and unappetizing to stare at a defibrillator and defibrillator box across from our table. Overall poor and unappetizing experience.
