Opinions de Royal Orchid Riverside
Loved how small, intimate and friendly this restaurant is - wonderful food and super smiley owner serving us. Food looks and tastes amazing. A hidden gem and so many people coming here for take out. Prices are super reasonable for large portions (at least to me English eyes). Note that the restaurant does NOT have a liquor licence.
My sister introduced me to this restaurant years ago. hadn’t gone in a while, but was craving the yellow curry. I ended up stopping by and the food is just as good as ever. I can’t wait to try some of their other dishes. It’s authentic and delicious. You can really tell they care about how they cook the food since it’s always fresh. I love this place!!
Great food and service. I accidentally came as they were closing for break and the lady nicely asked us to come back after 4pm. We hung around and checked out some local businesses while we waited. When we returned she greeted us warmly. The food was amazing but the service was even better. She had so many regulars coming to pick up orders. She knew each and everyone of them and greeted and interacted with them like family. This is def a hidden gem of a place and we will be back.
Tried this place for the first time last night and I wish I had found it sooner, since I live less than 10 minutes away! My green curry with tofu and brown rice was delicious, as was my husband's yellow curry with chicken and brown rice. We paid like $10 less for the same quality as any other Thai food place in our area. On top of that, the owner was such a lovely woman, so sweet when we ordered on the phone and when we went to pick up our food. This is definitely our new spot.
My fave thai place! Their food is always excellent and affordable. Quickly and efficiently served every time. We love going here frequently and are always well received.
Nice lady, good service, good food. I was very impressed with the taste of the food because I’ve had bad Thai food so often that I rarely even choose Thai food anymore. Little hole in the wall feel. Small space but plenty of seats. Clean. We were comfortable and filled. Will be back again next time
Super delicious food and fast service at a reasonable price. The restaurant doesn't look like much inside as they seem to focus more on delivery, but don't that deter you, the place is great! I enjoyed it every time. Good variety offered as well.
Food was excellent, to cramped inside so I just take it home.
Just found this place last night and ordered it for dinner again tonight! Such a yummy hidden gem! My family and I are tough critics but this place pleased all of our palates. For our first time here, we got the drunken noodles with chicken, add shrimp, the chicken basil fried rice, and the red curry with chicken to-go. I cooked dinner tonight but the curry was so good we went back to order another one to-go, but this time with chicken and shrimp added, and a Thai tea on the side. That being said, I highly recommend the red curry with chicken and shrimp added (even though all their various curry dishes look yummy) and their drunken noodles with mild spice (medium if you’re feeling extra spicy). The dine-in area is kinda small, but if you’re in the area looking for authentic Thai food this a perfect go-to take-out spot. Enjoy!
This is a true hidden gem in Riverside. Our server was sweet and attentive. I ordered the large Tom Kha with chicken and the coconut shrimp appetizer that I shared with my friend. For the main coarse, I chose the Pad Thai with chicken. I have had Thai food from many establishments around So Cal, and I can honestly say that the Tom Kha & Pad Thai were in the top 5 best dishes I've ever eaten. Highly recommend this place.
TLDR: it's bomb, especially for take out. Do recommend and we order about once every 2 weeks! We've ordered take out from here a few times now. It is sooo bomb, especially given that it's take out. Normally takeout portions are a lot smaller and the quality isn't good. Not the case here! Plenty of food, packed extremely well, condiments and utensils neatly wrapped as well. The employees (owners?) are always so nice. We've ordered the fried rice, crab fried rice, pad Thai, pad see ew, radnar noodles, crispy pork, mango sticky rice and Thai tea boba. Everything is a 10/10 except the crab fried rice and the crispy pork. Crab fried rice was a 6/10. It was really good, but there was absolutely zero crab in it so just stick with the regular fried rice. The crispy pork was an 8.5/10 but mostly because I didn't realize it was pork belly and not just pork. Flavor was 10/10 I just don't like pork belly and didn't see it listed on the menu item.
SO DELICIOUS! The moment I walked in, I knew the food was going to be amazing because it smelled SO GOOD! The panang curry was out of this world! And the coconut shrimp were SO YUMMY! And the lady working was really friendly and nice 👍 Definitely recommend!!!
Very nice little place for Thai food. The lady serving me was lovely. I find the pad Thai at some places too sweet but it was great here. Would recommend
One of the best authentic thai restaurants I have been to! I joked with my gf that whenever a thai place has a statue in it, that's a sign that they're gonna serve legit good food! Guess, I was not wrong xD. Ordered both spicy and thai fried rice and it was off the chain delicious! It was spicy though. We ordered 1 medium and 1 mild, and it was HOT. I think next time when I go back I I'll get number 1 spicy, not even 2. Manggo sticky rice was also great! Price is also more on the affordable side. It's a smaller restaurant, but it delivers great tasting food!
Food was great and so was the service! Very attentive and my drink was never empty, which is a really important thing for me! I've tried many Thai places in the Riverside area and this is one of my top 3 so far. We had the Royal Orchid Roll and the Drunken Noodle with Chicken both excellent. Try it out!
I wanted fried rice so I tried the yellow curry fried rice. The dish itself was delicious! However, since I prefer very spicy, I opted no spice then asked for the chopped chilis in fish sauce then topped the dish with that. Definitely brought the 🔥 and flavor! Washed it down with lemon water. Hit the spot!
This place is my local favorite Thai food! Every time I come I feel healed after. Not only is the staff very kind and welcoming but the food is soooo amazing. I was lucky enough to grow up eating Thai food because of family ties and this is the closest I can say to what I ate as a child. Very savory delicious and the spice levels are always spot on! I can’t say enough how kind the woman here is, she’s motherly so mostly smiles, but always busy caring for everyone! I have always felt welcomed and enjoyed my meal! Come support local and enjoy yourself a hearty meal. I have tom yum soup every time I feel the sniffles coming and boom, like magic I’m healed🫶🏼 love is in the food!
LOVE this place and it's the reason I say among all types of curry, thai curry is my absolute favorite. I love the coconut milk they use for the curry, it's SO creamy and rich in flavor. I came here first while attending UCR and craved it almost every day after my evening classes haha. When I graduated I told the owner I was sad I probably wouldn't be able to come back. When I told her I'd be half an hour away, she encouraged me to come back haha and I have! She remembers me and my order whenever I drop by, and I appreciate her very much! I've even brought my friend visiting from Canada to come eat here :] Amazing food and lovely service!
Staff is friendly, food is well priced and delicious. Everytime I come I am welcomed by the friendly server and most of the time receive my food quickly. There are some times that food can take sometime to get to you but it is worth it (if you have the time). I have only ever dined in so I'm not sure how things go for delivery or pickup orders.
After checking out UC Riverside, we decided to grab some takeout from this Thai spot that had rave reviews. The food was fresh and tasty, and the staff were really friendly and welcoming.
My go to place for Thai in University area. And they renovated recently and it looks beautiful.
Fantastic Thai restaurant! Appearance: definitely hole-in-the-wall authentic. Restaurant owner/cook is a wonderful lady who obviously cares about her restaurant. Food: tasty with good portions! Really enjoyed the drunken noodles. Value: entire meal of fried tofu appetizer, two entrees, and large Thai tea came out to ~$31 including tax. That was enough to completely fill two hungry adults with enough leftovers for another full meal for two adults. Definitely a great value!
Royal Orchid is a wonder, small, family owned business. They serve great food at a reasonable price with excellent customer service. If you're in the neighborhood please stop in and try anything on the menu. I have been coming here for several years and over time I've tried almost everything on the menu. The Royal Orchid Spring Rolls are so fresh and light and this is my favorite appetizer. I tend to get the fried rice but this visit I got the Garlic Lover's chicken. This is a charming spot for family and friends to come in and share a meal where you will be taken care of. Enjoy!

Best Thai food in Riverside! My husband and I are vegan, and I am sensitive to garlic, and they always happily make our dishes to our specifications. The food is always flavorful and has a cleaner, fresher taste than any other Thai food we've had in this area (and we've tried several other Thai places in Riverside over the years). We normally get take-out, and Nina is wonderfully friendly and sweet when taking our order and at pick-up (and on the rare occasion when we actually eat there, she always provides service with a smile, even when the restaurant is super busy!). It's a very small space and rather easily overlooked when driving past it, but do yourself a favor - if you haven't tried this little gem of a place, do so!

We ordered Pas Thai and Tom Yum, the food is pretty authentic. The server is really nice and caring. The atmosphere is a little awkward, the rest was fine. Will visit again.
Delicious Thai food. Plenty of vegetarian options. We absolutely love the yellow curry. Good portions. Friendly staff. Place is pretty small inside, but clean. We picked up and took it to go. We will be ordering from here again!
I've had mixed experience with the food here. I ordered spicy fried rice (spicy level: 2/5). It tasted delicious with perfect texture of the vegetables and tofu. However, I cannot say the same thing about the pad thai noodles that I ordered the next time. It didn't live up to the expectation. The vegetables were a little raw in this one. Excellent and fast service.

The drunken noodles weren’t nearly as tasty as the ones I’ve had at other Thai restaurants. When I asked for more flavor, they did add some, so the service was attentive. However, the food overall didn’t taste fresh, it seemed like it had just been reheated and even had a “fridge taste.”. I hope they would change this in the future!
Good food, only complaint is the seats against the wall are very uncomfortable on your bottom since it’s just wood. Decor in there is kinda nice.
They almost got a 4 due to the food being freshly prepared and the customer service. The taste of the good was not that great. I've had better Thai. We ordered the Tom Kha, Pineapple Paradise, orange juice, and Pad See EW. I've had more favorable Thai food. It is small place with a nice patronage. I would say give it a try.
Love Thai food. Unfortunately the food here has to be the most dissapointing of any Thai place I've been to. Given all the good reviews, maybe I came on a bad day. Seafood soup was flavorless (mind you it's my favorite thing to get). Pad See ew was good. Thai dumplings where not good at all very disappointing. Place is nice and cozy. Lady was super friendly and nice too
Taste :3.8/5 Environment: 3.8/5 Service:4.1/5 I checked out Royal Orchid Thai in Riverside after a friend recommended it. I think they recently renovated the place—it looks kind of cute inside. But here's the thing: they didn’t have the AC on during the summer, which made it pretty uncomfortable to sit and eat. As for the food, it was okay overall. The flavors were decent, but most of the dishes were a bit too sweet for my taste.

Just very bland and lacking flavor. The orange chicken just tasted like chicken nuggets with orange marmalade dumped on it. The fried rice and pad Thai had almost no flavor. The springs rolls were the best part of the meal.
WORST THAI FOOD we have ever had. Not sure about all the positive reviews as we visited the place primarily coz of the reviews even though after we walked in were totally put off by the ambience and seating, etc. Also since the place was closing, we decided to do a ToGo. Abs. honest, the place served the WORST THAI FOOD we have ever had in this country. And Thai food is our fav food and go-to eat out places. We had ordered Monsoon/Drunken Noodles, Basil Fried Rice and Jungle Curry and the front desk lady/owner had repeatedly asked us for each dish if we wanted Spicy. And we said Yes to all. When we reached home, was so disappointed to not only find 2 of the 3 dishes extremely bland & tasteless, but NOT APPETIZING at all - completely white in color, no signs of spices, hardly any vegetables but most importantly extremely DRY. Basil fried rice was sticky white rice, literally in lumps. Since we leave pretty far from the place, there was no way for us to come and return the food, same or next day. We called the place and respectfully asked to correct the situation (future credits or partial refund, etc.) but they refused and asked to bring the food back which was not possible. Given the other positive reviews, this could have been a one-off issue or the chef was tired as it was near closing time. But instead of apologizing and rudely asking to bring the food back made us write this long review. So much to keep the Customers happy.
This is my go-to for great tasting Thai food. However, the price jump has now reached LUDICROUS speed - beyond “inflation” scale! Outrageous price spike does not justify the portion served. Bring back down the price for loyal local diners to return please.
We were seated at a table with insufficient lighting, which made it a bit uncomfortable. We ordered the Thai basil minced pork, but the server informed us that only sliced pork was available. Unfortunately, the flavor not even same as Thai basil minced pork. While we were disappointed with that, the pineapple fried rice was delicious. The green curry, however, could have been richer in flavor.

They forgot to add spice to my Tom kah mobil order. I was so excited cause I had it delivered to my girlfriend who is feeling under the weather. Was very sad it didn’t come the way i wanted her to experience it.
Sorry but it was nasty. Ate half my food and they sent out brown rice when I asked for white. Should have got white rice, now I got acid reflux and regret spending my 16 bucks here. With all due respect the service and atmosphere was intimate and inviting but the food was definitely not it. My friend had a bite of my food and let’s just say it was just one bite. His food looked decent tho. Felt like I’d give my honest opinion beings I paid for it. Good luck to you

The food came out relatively fast, but I heard the microwave go off a few times, so that explains that because the food was not great. The tofu was soggy and the noodles were not fresh. We asked for the spiciest and I've had crushed pepper from pizza places that gave me more kick. Overall disappointing. I wonder if they save old food from previous nights or they just prepare things way earlier and just reheat.
Went in today for lunch with my sisters. Ordered pad Thai and drunken noodles. The pad Thai didn't taste right tastes like fish and I order chicken. We kindly asked the server if we could change to another plate. The server said NO, and that we would still need to pay for the dishes even if we didn't like it. We asked again as we didn't feel we should pay for something we did not like. They refused to make a new dish. Never coming again horrible service and attitude.
I went today to get some beef pad Thai and was very surprised despite all the positive reviews to say the food tasted very bland and sad, no taste at all and I was even given a soy sauce and a chili packet which I put on the food but it somehow barley made a difference. The beef tasted rubbery and chewy with an odd after taste. I was even thinking of just throwing the food away until I was reminded of the fact that I paid 17 dollars which is heavily overpriced for this meal. I hope this place gets it together next time I'm still upset about my 17 bucks being wasted and with that heavy price it will be hard to come back.
